Well, at least they had the decency to put the one thing I might possibly be interested in at the front of the show, so I can turn it off after that. 👍
Of course they believe in generations. But did people really think/expect that they were going to just abandon a 115+ million PS4 user base and start making all their games for PS5 only?
Better a handful of vocal idiots melting down over nothing, than giving an entire user base of millions something to be genuinely angry about.
"We believe in generations" is not equal to "there's a cut-off, and all future first-party games will be PS5-only."
Have they made it easier to pull together the stuff you need to fuel the warp engines yet? Because that was my main gripe and has long been the one thing keeping me from getting back into it.
It was cool at first, finding A and B to make C, and D, E, and F to make G, then combining C and G to get H, and so on... but it very quickly began to grate, as it just felt like unnecessary busywork, and got in the way of enjoying the exploration.
I was told that you could enable a mode added a while after release to disable that, but that it also disabled trophies. Is that still the case?
My PS3 Slim is still connected to my TV, but has been used maybe twice since I got my PS4 back in 2013.
My original 60GB 'fat' PS3 with all the b/c is in its box in the spare room, and - as far as I know - still in full working order. I really should get it out and test it.
"This is being done so that the teams working on the franchise can focus on the future."
That seems... unlikely. When would be the last time "the teams" did anything with these games which was remotely time-consuming, other than maybe rebooting a server once a month?
Still, the notice given seems fine to me. If you haven't bought the game by now, you probably weren't going to anyway... and it gives you a good 3 months to mop up any trophies you may need.
I'm sure there'll be the usual outcry from the usual vocal minority, but if they really cared, they'd still be playing, and the figures wouldn't have dropped low enough to justify turning the servers off.
Still, I look forward to seeing how (un)social media spins this to somehow be Sony's fault - or indeed if it gets anything like the backlash Sony gets for doing the same; you know, how important it is to 'preserve' these retro games, etc.
Nothing for me. No interest in fighting games, and I didn't think enough of SWBF2 to finish it, so no interest in Squadrons either... though to be honest, despite being a Star Wars fan, I never have been interested in the games.
One of the best things about it is that it seems to be making a logical progression, unlike some game series of the past.
Obviously we don't know where in the story the gameplay falls, but it seemed that Aloy carries over the skills she learned in the first game and adds to them, perhaps the weapons too.
It grinds my gears with some games when you have to re-learn skills your character finished the previous game with, like some kind of half-witted amnesiac.
Don't really care when they hold an event, just as long as it has substantial and solid information. Pretty tired now of being told about things way too early and then having to wait months (or years) for more news.
Take time developing things, and announce them when you're certain you can stick to a date without shoving out a rushed and/or unfinished product. If you don't know to within 6 months when it will be ready for release, we don't need to know about it.
Might be nice if Sony adopted this policy on a wider basis, given the state of some games at release these days. Might actually encourage developers to test properly/more thoroughly before release, like they used to... and publishers to stop pushing them to rush things.
It's great that they now have the ability to patch bugs post-release, but it's also a development that is roundly and widely abused to foist unfinished products upon us.
Won't be bothering with this. I'm currently enjoying/enduring a love/hate relationship with DayZ - that's enough sado-masochism for me to deal with for now. At least in DayZ you can keep your stuff with you when you sign out.
@PegasusActual93 That's fair enough. I don't really, either. I manage a couple of hours at a time with DayZ, but wouldn't really want to add another such game to my collection until I'm done with it.
@PegasusActual93 I completely understand that feeling.
I was talked into getting DayZ just after Christmas, and initially, that was my exact reaction. It's basically all about mindset... you need to accept that you're going to die a lot.
It took some effort on my part, but I convinced myself to stick with the game, and I eventually came to accept it. I've died over and over - not always at the hands of other players, but mostly simply starving to death. But when you do manage to survive long enough to find some decent gear and meet up with friends, it becomes a very engrossing game. Granted, it might only happen one out of every ten lives, but when it happens, it's a great feeling.
I still have bouts of rage with DayZ, as there are aspects of it which are just nonsense, and way tougher than they should be, even if it is a survival game. And don't get me started on the sheer number of obvious and rampant bugs which still exist in a 7-year-old-game. But when it clicks, it's quite a feeling.
A couple of mates and I were interested in this, as we've been having a lot of fun on DayZ since Christmas.
But I watched a video on YouTube from ScaleSpeeder Gaming, where he said it's not only very buggy, but also missing much of the content present in the PC version. Add to that the apparently highly toxic community, and when I told the guys, we let out a collective sigh and decided not to bother with it.
@nomither6 Monetised or not, it's likely to be a 'no' from me. If you can disable it or just not use it, great; if not, I'll pass. I don't have the patience to faff around with mechanics like this.
I'm not a gambling man myself, but before everyone follows the social media knee-jerk outrage reaction and grabs their virtual pitchfork, let's just bear in mind that this is only going to have any relevance to you if you follow eSports.
And those that do most likely already have numerous ways they can bet on it.
If you're not one of those people, this is unlikely to have any effect on you whatsoever.
A friend has always spoken very highly of them, as he played them on 360. I've never been that into RPGs, and only played the third on PS3. Didn't rate it, and have no interest in playing the others.
Would like to see a modern setting again, and hopefully a reasonable SP campaign. As far as war-based FPS go though, I'm probably more interested in Six Days at this point in time.
Love the series... played them all multiple times, including Golden Abyss (though that's not ND-made). Platinumed them all, the first 3 on PS3 originally and then again on PS4 in the Collection. My favourite series of games in 40+ years of gaming.
@Amylian4Games @Robinsad I loved the first 4... I even originally bought a Gamecube specifically to play 4 when it released, then bought it again on PS3. But 5 just bored me, and I haven't bothered with the series since. It just sorta stopped appealing to me.
I get what you're saying, Sammy, and I agree with some of it. It could definitely be better in some areas.
But given that the store is providing so much of their revenue, does it not suggest that most people aren't having any/many problems using it and finding what they want?
The store showing you things you already own is irritating, but not unique to the PlayStation store. Search for something on Amazon, then make a purchase, and you'll still get an email a few days later showing you a selection of things matching that search and asking "were you looking for something in our ..... store?"
Meh. Made a Discord account a while back to see what all the fuss was about, and - in my personal opinion - it sucks. It's just a mess... a nightmare version of all the crappy mid-to-late 90s chat rooms combined.
Still got the account, but used it for maybe 10 minutes in total.
Further to my earlier comment... we had a similar situation with some PlayStation fans when Killzone 2 was released, especially with regard to the online side of things.
It had a slower, heavier, more realistic feel to it, where soldiers wearing lots of heavy kit moved at a realistic pace, instead of running around like headless chickens as if the gun was all they were carrying. And boy, did (some) people whine about it!
"It doesn't feel right!"
"It's too slow!"
And the one I read multiple times on the official PlayStation forums...
"Make it like Call of Duty!"
If you want something that plays like CoD, play CoD. Don't insist that everything else is a carbon copy. Some of us can't stand it, and welcome a different approach.
It's because it's not all shooty shooty pew pew, isn't it?
The gun combat is absolutely fine for what it's supposed to represent... these aren't trained military, they're normal people in a stressful, extraordinary situation - particularly in the case of Ellie, who's still a very young woman. If they were running around CoD-style and snapping out 360 no-scope's, it wouldn't really fit with the game, would it?
Seems (at least some of) the MS staff are like the CoD fanboys, where everything that doesn't "work like CoD" is somehow "wrong".

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: Fidelity, Performance, Performance RT - Which Graphics Mode Is Best?
If I had a PS5 right now: Fidelity, as I don't have a 4K TV.
If I had a PS5 and a 4K TV: Still Fidelity, because give me a more detailed world and a solid 30fps every... single... time.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Crash Rates Charted in Official CDPR Graph
I suspect the Y-axis , from top to bottom, reads something like...
Far too many
Definitely too many for Sony
Can we talk people out of refunds?
Oh sh*t how did we f*ck up this badly
Still far too many
Better, but still too many
C'mon guys, do better!
Sony still not happy
Does anyone here know what they're doing?
Why is this thing still crashing?
Will Sony put it back on the store yet?
Goddamit, I wish we'd never made this game
Can't give up now

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Horizon Forbidden West?
Was never any doubt that I'd be getting it, as I loved the first game and want to see how the story progresses.
I will be picking it up for PS5 though... assuming I can get one.
Re: Far Cry 6 Gameplay Looks Wild and Chaotic, Out This October

Lost my interest when they revealed the card system.
