Re: Director Kantemir Balagov to Helm The Last of Us TV Series Pilot Episode

Paranoimia

Never heard of the director or the movies. That's no bad thing though, as often lesser-knowns with something to prove will make a better product than the well known who often rest on their laurels.

It's also not uncommon for me not to know directors and others behind the scenes when it comes to movies and TV anyway, as I never pay attention to them; I'm only interested in the subject matter, and whether the show/movie entertains me.

If this conveys any of the mood, atmosphere, and chemistry of the game, it should do just fine, regardless of who's in it or who's behind the camera.

Re: Hitman 3 Retires the ICA Electrocution Phone

Paranoimia

@CptH0vvDy Indeed, but we're talking about those whining about its use in the previous version.

On the one hand, if you have the DLC and access to the gadget, there's nothing to complain about.

On the other hand, if you didn't like the game enough to buy the DLC, it really shouldn't matter to you that much anyway.

Re: Hitman 3 Retires the ICA Electrocution Phone

Paranoimia

@Ah-Void Even if you were the only person on the planet to get it, it's still ultimately worthless.

It's a single-player game. If you earned it without using the device, you get some personal satisfaction from knowing that. That's all that matters. If others used it, it makes no difference whatsoever to your own personal achievement.

As I said earlier, be less concerned about how others play their game. Unless you upload a video to YouTube, no-one else knows how you earned it, and I can pretty much guarantee very few will care.

Re: Hitman 3 Retires the ICA Electrocution Phone

Paranoimia

@WallyWest So don't use it! The choice is entirely yours.

The reason to do something which takes a ton of set-up is to gain the enjoyment of doing so, and the satisfaction of having it pay off... and get your money's worth out of the game. If you choose to go straight to the easy option, that's on you, nobody else. Have some self-control. Save the shortcuts for a second play-through.

Re: Hitman 3 Retires the ICA Electrocution Phone

Paranoimia

@get2sammyb That's fair enough, if the devs want to take it out, that's fine. I'm only referring to those players who think that its use is somehow 'cheating' when it's there for all to use.

@Nepp67 It is what it is. Use it if you like it; if you think it makes things too easy, don't. It's a single-player game - play it the way you want to.

Re: Hitman 3 Retires the ICA Electrocution Phone

Paranoimia

@nessisonett It's a virtual trinket. It has no value beyond what you yourself allocate to it.

@get2sammyb But it's there for everyone to use, just like any other option. If it were real life and you had a device to minimise risk and make the job simpler, you'd use it.

Whether it's included or not, as long as it's not DLC and available to all, the playing field is level for everyone. Whining about other people using a perfectly valid method and getting a quick time, just because you (general 'you', not you specifically) don't want to "lower yourself" is ridiculous. You may as well complain that people are beating your lap time in GT Sport because they're using a Veyron and you want to compete in a Fiat 500.

Re: Hitman 3 Retires the ICA Electrocution Phone

Paranoimia

Always amuses me when people complain about things being 'overpowered' in single-player games, when you have the option to not use them.

Never played a Hitman game, but it's not the first time I've seen such nonsense. There are complaints about some of the mods in SnowRunner making things too easy, which is ridiculous when they're not in the base game, and you'd have to go out of your way to get access to them. How other people choose to complete their game has zero effect on you.

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Has Kept Me Glued to My Next-Gen Console

Paranoimia

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Nothing on PS5 for me yet, and no point buying one when I have a Pro. Until there's something compelling and the system is more feature-complete, it's not worth it.

I was thinking I'd maybe pick one up around March, but at the moment the first approximate date I have for anything I really want to play is Stray, and according to the other article, that's not until around October.

Strictly personal opinion: If Sony really wants to get people transitioned as quickly as possible, they're going to need far more compelling games, and plenty of them, quickly. I still have the feeling they were caught short by the MS reveal.

At this point in time, I'm glad there were shortages which meant no day-one system for me, and gave me pause to reconsider. Had I bought one just to end up playing my existing collection, I think I'd be feeling like I'd wasted my money.

Re: 67 Per Cent of UK Game Sales Were Digital Last Year

Paranoimia

Still always prefer physical, and will continue to do so. I only buy digital if it's only available that way, or if it's heavily discounted in a sale. New games at store prices? No thanks... and that will go double when it comes to PS5 and the hiked prices.

Re: Poll: What Was the Best PS4 First-Party Exclusive of the Generation?

Paranoimia

If you're talking 'best' in terms of technical achievement, then for me it's between Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, or The Last of Us Part 2.

In terms of content, gameplay, and how much I enjoyed it, then it's easily Days Gone.

Also, if you're not including Horizon on the list because it's also on PC, as others have said, Ratchet & Clank shouldn't be on there either; Horizon wasn't on PC when it launched, and Insomniac weren't first-party when R&C launched, so you really need to add the former or remove the latter.

Then there are the remasters. If being on PC disqualifies Horizon, then being on PS2 and/or PS3 should disqualify those.

Re: Poll: What's Your Most Anticipated PS5, PS4 Game of 2021?

Paranoimia

Horizon: Forbidden West, Stray, and Far Cry 6 (yes, I love them... sue me)... as I could only choose 3.

Back 4 Blood is also up there, along with Returnal.

Got a passing interest in one or two of the others, but beyond that, there's not much there for me... another part of the reason I'm in no immediate rush to upgrade. I'm sure that will change once more of Sony's first-party studios announce their next projects.

Re: Random: Looking For a Media Centre That'll Fit Your New PS5? IKEA's Got You Covered

Paranoimia

@nathanSF Everyone moans about Amazon with taxes (as well as others), but the fact is nothing that they do in this regard is illegal, and we'd all do it if we could. It's up to government to close the loopholes, and none ever has, and probably won't because many in the Houses exploit them themselves.

Apart from that, if they did "the decent thing", they'd only pass it on to the consumer, and then everyone would be moaning that they were too expensive.

Personally, as a carer to a mum with COPD, Amazon have been a bit of a lifeline during this pandemic, with decent prices and the ability to supply things when everyone else was sold out. I'm nothing but happy with them.

Re: Is It Worth Buying a PS Vita in 2021?

Paranoimia

Would happily play decent new games on my Vita. Much better than a phone, which I never game on besides the basic stuff like word puzzles. The control just isn't there on a phone, and the ads... the f*cking ads...

Re: PS4 Console Production Reduced to Just One Model in Japan

Paranoimia

Well, they got that wrong. Should've dropped the Slim, kept the Pro and lowered the price to the same as the Slim. But then I guess the bigger the gulf they create, the more likely people are to pick the 5 over the 4 if they're buying a new system.

I'm eager to get a PS5, and have been a day-one buyer since PS2, but until they release something I want to play, I'll wait. No point me spending that money now just to play the PS4 games I already have. I'll stick with the Pro until Horizon 2 drops, or there are at least 3 games I feel I absolutely must play.

Re: PS Plus January 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

Paranoimia

No interest in Maneater or Greedfall... might add the TR game to my list just in case I ever feel like playing it; I did add Rise when it came to Plus but have never played it because, well, they're a bit rubbish these days when you've played Uncharted.

Re: Soapbox: Rainbow Six: Siege Is My Favorite Shooter of All Time and I Hate It

Paranoimia

This is why I tend not to play any game online very much, unless it offers co-op PvE.

I bought DayZ in the sale the other day. Signed in for the first time, was just waiting for a couple of friends to join and had walked about 200 feet when I encountered some idiot gesturing wildly at me, then start walking in front of me trying to block my way. I walked past him and he shot me in the back.

Re: These Unofficial PS Stores Put Sony's to Shame

Paranoimia

I sometimes wonder if the official store is so flaky because all these unofficial sites are constantly scraping the data. 🤔🤣

The official web store is working for me at the moment - all prices and buttons are showing, and it's pretty quick to respond.

Re: Best PS4 Pro Boost Mode Games

Paranoimia

Horizon Zero Dawn?

Haven't played it in a while, so can't recall if it has a 'boost mode' as such, but it looks stunning if you have the Pro rendering at 4K and supersampling down to a 1080p screen.

Re: Returnal Looks Super Cool in New Gameplay Clips

Paranoimia

They talk a lot about horror in that video, but I have to be honest... this style of gameplay, for me, doesn't really go hand-in-hand with a horror title... at least, not one which I personally would find particularly creepy or scary.

At the moment, it's looking like one I'll buy - when I eventually get a PS5 - but I don't think I'll ever view it as a 'horror' title.

Re: GTA Online's Biggest Ever Update Live, Fans Already Fuming You Can't Free Roam New Island

Paranoimia

Never even bought this game on PS4. Had it on PS3, didn't take to any of the characters, and forced myself to finish what (for me) was a pretty boring single-player game, then sold it without touching it again.

Zero interest in any of the online side/content, and probably won't touch another GTA game unless there's some kind of radical change, which I can't see happening. That's assuming, of course, that there are any more GTA games... the way they've been milking this one for the last 7 years, it doesn't seem as if they feel the need to make another.
