TimeSplitters is officially, finally, making its grand return. After the IP was procured by Koch Media, the idea of the beloved FPS franchise coming back from the dead was suddenly a real possibility. Now, in a new announcement from publisher Deep Silver, a new entry in the series is officially underway.
In a statement shared on social media, Deep Silver confirms the exciting news that it has re-established Free Radical Design in order to revive TimeSplitters:
It's still very early days — as it says in the statement, development has yet to begin — but fans will no doubt be very pleased to know a new TimeSplitters is finally coming. Key staff from the series' past have returned for this project, with Steve Ellis and David Doak spearheading production. It's going to be a while before the game itself is ready to be shown, but we're very much looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Cool, I never got around to these back in the day but always heard positive things.
The game that made throwing bricks through windows fun for me
Let's gooooo! Now we just need Silent hill to return!
It'll be tough to make the game relevant to modern audiences without it being some kind of Overwatch clone. Timesplitters appeal came from it being 4 player local multiplayer before online took off.
You’ll need this decoder to unlock the bottling room door!
I never really enjoyed these games but I'd take another look.
Shotguns, zombies, notre dame; good times...
Played 2 and 3 to death - can't wait for this! 🤞
Awesome news! This game was insane and so much fun.
Never played these before they passed me by for some reason, but will definitely be interested in picking it up, so many ppl told me it was a good game.
I complete the trilogy. I think 2 and 3 were best, I remember the pyramid, city and old Japan levels the most. Really fun. I also built a couple of levels in the editor I wonder what direction they will go now that things have changed, though? Doom 2016 still had a classic feel that was similar, but it's so much more fast paced than Timesplitters ever was.
Many fond memories of Timesplitters, but what I really want, is something new like their 2004 game Second Sight
Great news. Whilst waiting for new title get a porting studio to put the existing games on current gen.
Can't they make Haze 2 instead????????? lol
Considering Wolfenstein, Doom and even Shadow Warrior of all things have been revived and made relevant again now is frankly the best time.
Great news. Hoping for as much content as the originals and that it's all free and unlockable. Microtransactions could ruin this franchise.
@theheadofabroom THQ did purchase the rights to second sight as well, so fingers crossed.
N.i.c.e. will definitely be buying this.word up son
I'd like a remake of the originals alongside a brand new game.
@AdamNovice while it's true couch co-op was fun, it really shined for me in single player.
Hope they bring back "The moose is loose"
@Residentsteven I believe the appeal was the type of guns per time period, it kept each stage fresh.
A reason to re-visit pancake gaming.
David Doak?
As in Dr Doak in Goldeneye?
Absolutely brilliant news. TimeSplitters 2 basically was my childhood. One of the best games ever for couch play. Really hope they can recapture the magic.
VERY EXCITED, YES! Hope I'm still alive when it finally comes out
I am BEYOND excited about this. Hopefully this means a re-release of the original trilogy is on the cards in the meantime too! IMO, the GREATEST fps series of all time. The amount of time I spent playing virus with friends in splitscreen, jaysus.
Any chance of the older games being remastered? I never played them before.
In it's day was a blast......we have come a very long way since I would go as far as to say "Saturated"
Got it with my PS2 when it launched, but honestly, the novelty wore off pretty quick. 🤷♂️
Was super fun back in the day, but I think only because we had a big group of friends always hanging out and playing it. Unfortunately, those times have passed me by.
As long as you can build virus custom maps again. I'm in!
@colonelkilgore
Future Perfect was the last game I bought new for my OG Xbox and it was a fitting end to an era. It was an amazing game.
I never played 1 or 2.
IT'S TIME TO SPLIT!!!
@TheRedComet Future Perfect was my favourite TimeSplitters. Scotland the Brave and Machine Wars are unforgettable levels for me.
Great news...can we get a 2 and 3 HD remastered collection first please? With, uh, VR support?😁
I don’t know how many times I posted this gif here over the years or replied with the hope for an E3 announcement in the predictions but we are here finally 🥲
Maybe for their next project they will make a sequel to the beloved and critically acclaimed PS3 classic, Haze, exclusive to PS5
I hope they have a good objective based single player game. I hope the multiplayer keeps what made the originals unique. We don't need anymore CODs, Fortnights, or hero based games.
Not to be confused with Harvest Moon: ThymeSplitters. 😋
(Psst...Jimmy cracked corn, and I still don’t care.)
Time to leave, Doctor Doak!
@JimVectis
Yes! David Doak helped develop GoldenEye and that character is named after him.
It's not the only thing that has come ;-o + it would be MEGA-COOL if they could bring the first 3 games to next-gen consoles to. That would be AMAZING
New game and a mass effect style remaster trilogy of the original games please.
Take my money!
The best couch multiplayer shooter by far back in PS2 days. Remember having sleepovers with friends and 4 player multiplayer was sooo much fun.
I hope they remaster the ps2 trilogy.
@Residentsteven very true goldeneye was the best, but for those of us with Sony only, Time splitters was a classic. For me anyways
This is very good news. I still have 2 of the 3 TimeSplitters games for my PS2 so I am very much looking forward to news on this.
Timesplitters revival hype! Hopefully they will have a teaser to show us by E3 2022.
I seriously doubt they will have anything ready in time for this year.
