Unless the consoles get a DLSS equivalent ray tracing is just too expense in a game if you want 4k60fps.

Ray Tracing is nice but it’s not the be all and end all. Some SSR are high quality and do the job very well if done right.

@Col_McCafferty Control is one of my favourite games of the gen. Played through it on PS4 and 5, enjoy it’s so good!

I started The Artful Escape on Gamepass yesterday and it’s really good so going to continue playing that this weekend. I recommend anyone with Gamepass to at least give it a go.

After reading the Lost in Random review here I might just treat myself to that on PS and play that this weekend too.

Indie is where it’s at at the moment, some great titles over the past couple of months.

Awful. Nice graphics but everything else looked janky and my god the lead waffling on didn’t help. Disappointing.

Looks very similar to the PS4 game which is no bad thing as it was probably my favourite PS4 title. I just hope it has a few new features and a decent story.

I voted Okay. God of War looks good, did I miss the release date? KOTOR is a big announcement but nothing was shown. The games I would be interested in were all CGI trailers which kinda sucked.

Forespoken looked massively disappointing. The lead waffling on a load of cringey nonsense didn’t help.

Good that they’ve backtracked somewhat, don’t forget they still tried to get away with this, luckily enough people made their voices heard. I still utterly dislike Sony’s direction so far this gen and will not be buying their overpriced games at launch.

Hahahaha. In a way I don’t blame them as most people don’t seem to care or actually defend this *****. One things for sure though, their rival in Microsoft is offering more value and none of this garbage right now.

I enjoyed it when it originally came out on Gamepass. The graphics are nice and the story kept me interested but the gameplay is clunky and feels dated. My advice is wait for a sale, I don’t think it’s worth full price. If you like this genre it’s absolutely worth checking out at some point, like the review says.

I haven’t been on my PS5 for a month, looks it’ll stay that way with this months offerings.

@NEStalgia I hope the ‘virtual boycott’ is just the minority crying as usual while regular people are buying and enjoying it on whichever systems they own or enjoy. It’s available everywhere so hopefully it’s selling well.

People complaining about the price is bizarre to me. Psyconauts 2 doesn’t have the sparkling graphics of Ratchet, although it looks great in its own right, but its the better game of the 2. It’s worth full price imo and cheaper than Sony’s exclusives.

Best game I’ve played this year hands down. Really enjoying it on the X. It’s a platforming masterpiece.

I’ve been playing this since release on Gamepass. Could be my GOTY so far it’s that good. It’s just pure platforming heaven, the type we very rarely get anymore.

@wiiware Gamepass is more expensive per month at full price but it’s definitely worth the price tag imo. It’s been a great 2 months, while + has been pretty garbage.

As much as I enjoyed Rift Apart it kinda came and went and had absolutely no reply value. Glad I didn’t splash £70 on it.

This man is not wrong but Sony are good at making something seem unique to shift their hardware, even when it’s not.

I just watched the trailer, stabbing myself with a fork would have been more entertaining.

Am I the only one that thought this looked bad? What was up with the combat it looked super janky. I played the first and lost interest in it, but I know people who love that game.

If it was on PS+ it would definitely be worth a try, but it’s not.

@Kopite it is. I just have no willingness to go back and play an original Xbox game to be honest, most haven’t aged well. I know that I might be missing out but ah well.

Didnt play the first but this looks right up my alley. I’ll fire it up on the Series X tomorrow and hope I can figure out what’s going on. Reviews are very good, looking forward to it.

Only the most hardcore Sony simps out there will be defending this. I’m fine paying for DLC, but not for an upgrade of a game I paid full price for at launch and supported when other companies are doing it for free.

Gears 5 did it right, released Hivebusters to buy while upgrading the original game for anyone for free, and more significant upgrades than in GoT I might add.

I loved GoT and platinumed it, I won’t be touching the expansion or upgrade as I don’t want to support this. Sony are doing their best to ruin any goodwill they showed throughout the PS4’s lifespan it seems.

I finished this game. I enjoyed it but don’t expect anything mind blowing. Nice graphics and the story was fairly interesting imo, but the gameplay is slow and feels dated. If you’re gonna pick it up on PS5 wait for sales, that’s my advice.

@MetalGear_Yoshi there’s Golf Story which is meant to be good. That’s a golf RPG my friend! Not sure which systems it’s on apart from Switch.

Good review, I had no idea about this game but it seems to be reviewing well in most places, might be worth checking out on Gamepass. Some great titles on there lately, been really enjoying Omno too which also reviewed well here.

@Dezzy70 I have no idea what’s going on in that regard dude. Could be the vast majority are buying it for COD and Fortnite 🤣 Which I’ll never understand but it is what it is.

@NEStalgia You make some good points. As I see it PlayStation 5 was always going to break records thanks to the brilliant job Sony did with the PS4, it’s not surprising. It’s the trendy console, the one all the cool kids HAVE to have, it’s the iPhone of the console market, it basically sells itself even with a dead head in charge.

They’re in such a position they can start taking advantage of their consumers (and they are) with price increases etc while their fans cheer their record profits. I find it bizarre.

@The_Moose I mean I can still find it depressing that they’re making billions while increasing their prices. Just cause I have to wait for a sale now doesn’t mean it’s all good and nothing is wrong.

I enjoyed the first game thanks the world and its gameplay but my god the story was awful and characters bland.

I’ll always be a console gamer, I like the simplicity. Xbox games go to PC day one and it doesn’t bother me, I can still play and enjoy them on an Xbox where I want.

Some PlayStation fans have always been on their high horses about this (Xbox has no exclusives) and while Sony are not going as far as MS did, their games are becoming less and less exclusive to just PlayStation. Good business move from Sony, though it wont go down well with some of their player base, they ultimately don’t care. It’s all about that $.

@NEStalgia AA and indie is where it’s at for me right now. The AAA space is pretty dire imo. I’m playing Deaths Door at the mo and The Ascent is out soon. Much more interesting than Sonys fixation on AAA blockbusters and remakes.

@Halucigens I agree. Neither is as good or bad as the other, it’s just that recently MS have been splashing out and people have short memories. Also let’s be honest, a lot of PlayStation fans are hypocritical.

It’s sad that this thread seems to have broken down into the usual Microsoft vs Sony garbage, when you have others out there like Google, Amazon and Tencent injecting cash into the space which I find even more worrying.

I’d rather have Microsoft or Sony buying devs than Tencent or Amazon and a couple of others. He’s right consolidation it bad but that seems to be the way it’s going sadly with huge players out there with seemingly unlimited money.

Not good. There’s a lot of hate towards MS around here and you have your reasons, but I think Chinese run Tencent buying anyone is much worse in the long term.
