I put maybe 15-20 hours in trying to enjoy it and see if it got better, it didn’t. Apart from the great graphics it was a boring, repetitive slog imo. No chance I’ll ever touch this game again. Some of the music was nice though.

@J2theEzzo glad I’m not the only one. There’s no subtle anymore, Sephiroths build up in the original is slow and steady, it’s such a moment when you find Shinra dead and a sword in his back, the remake couldn’t even respect that properly. The end of the highway is ridiculous too, it should have just ended like the original without all the convoluted ***** they chose to throw in.

It’ll be interesting to see how they handle Remake 2 since the original goes somewhat open world after Midgar but after 7R I have no faith they’ll do it justice.

I know I’m in the minority but I really disliked the changes to the story in FF7R, thought it was a confusing mess especially towards the end, it’s basically put me off buying any future FF7R games. This Yuffie DLC looked awful to me and only solidified my feelings. Making it PS5 only kinda sucks too.

No gameplay was shown and a big fat 2021 date was in the trailer. It’s obvious it wasn’t going to be out this year and Sony lied about the release date to shift more PS5’s no doubt about it.

I think it’s smarter than the Xbox approach of their exclusives being day one on Xbox and PC, but then again they’re not bothered as they go straight to gamepass and draw more people that way.

Still no avoiding the fact that Sony’s precious exclusives are becoming less and less exclusive.

A more mature Final Fantasy is fine with me. An action game with the Final Fantasy named tacked on isn’t but this is where the series has been heading for years now. Maybe it’s just time to accept FF isn’t for me anymore, it’s no longer the RPG I grew up loving.

@Arugula you’re brave saying that here but thanks for your honesty 🙂 that’s why I’m holding off too and can’t be bothered spending all my time online to battle scalpers, there’s only Demon Souls I want. I can wait, by the time I get one there’ll probably have been some more system updates to make it better too.

Nice controller, not usually into them with mad designs but I do like this one. Strange with the PlayStation thing but I wouldn’t read much into it. Looking forward to giving The Medium a try this weekend.

I played quite a bit of this on
Gamepass and it was just ok. It looks nice and the story was intriguing enough, but the combat really didn’t click with me and I found it annoying, especially later on.

I’m sure some people will enjoy it, I’d probably give it like a 6/10.

I’ll be playing this on Gamepass when it’s released this week, looking forward to it. Looks like it won’t be amazing but could still be good.

I reckon it’ll be on PlayStation eventually.

@dannybuoy well that’s your opinion. I find raising the price here in the UK by £20 during a pandemic while record numbers of people are losing their jobs pretty bad. When people have less disposable income and you raise the price of games, less people will buy them. It’ll hurt the industry in the long run.

@LiterallyDoNotCare can agree with you on that. Gears/Halo/Forza all have pretty horrible microtransactions. It’s not cool.

@LiterallyDoNotCare games have different values, I’d pay more for a new Gears game than this, but still wouldn’t pay £70.

But one side here is offering a service where you don’t need to pay a large amount of money upfront for new games and one is. Simple as that.

@LiterallyDoNotCare that’s fine. I said since day one I won’t pay £70 for a new game, the price hike was too much, especially for games like this. Hell there was even an article on push square about how the price could hurt it. If you’re happy to pay Sony’s premium fair enough, your choice man.

Also your point about Gears 6, I wouldn’t pay £70 for that but I won’t have to. So kinda mute.

This is why Sony need a gamepass alternative. There’s no way I’d pay £70 for this but I’d give it a shot on a similar service.

The Division is one of the dullest games i played on PS4. Hopefully it won’t be like that with a Star Wars coat of paint.

If anything this makes me less interested in this (but it still looks awesome).

I’m waiting until they are available and easy to walk into a store and buy. All this online nonsense with scalpers and having literally minutes to snap one up is a joke.

I’m happy to wait anyway, there’s hardly anything exciting on either system yet but I’m working my way through Microsoft’s back catalogue on gamepass for now, that’s keeping me busy.

The black controller looks amazing, shame it’s a limited run thing. Like the black console too. The white controller looks like a cheap toy to me.

Glad you finally put a score on it and 3/10 is fair I think for what they’ve done on base console, the bare minimum. This game should never have been released in this state on base consoles. If games like RDR2 can run and look fairly decent on a PS4 this should too.

I find that the saddest part of this whole thing, there’s actually a really good game in there, which I’m sure in time will become appreciated. Things could have been so much different.

@MaccaMUFC I loved Origins and couldn’t get into Odyssey. The formula already feels old after only 3 games, for some reason Ubisoft seem to think making the AC games bigger and more grindy is the right thing to do when I think they should be doing the opposite. Odyssey just didn’t feel fun to me, didn’t bother with Valhalla, so I’m out of this series again until they reinvent again. When the fun stops, stop lol.

Unbelievable. Fair play it’s a massive move from Sony. MS have to follow suit now, even if it’s a bit more complicated as they have the advertising deal with CDPR.

Quality over quantity. I’ll never buy a game because it’s an easy platinum, it’s kinda sad and I only ever platinum games I really enjoy. I get it though, it’s smart using it to potentially get more sales, don’t blame them.

I’m sure Cyberpunk will come good, 6-12 months down the line. You can’t buy back what they’ve lost though, the trust of the fans. Anything they release from now on is going to be met with some measure of distrust and that’s on them. What a shame after years of hard work.

I can’t remember this sort of negligence towards a version of a game, they basically did the bare minimum on PS4 and Xbox one and focused on PC. It’s especially bad when it’s always been advertised as a PS4/Xbox game and was meant to release months before the new consoles even came out. You can’t even buy a ‘next gen’ version of this game, the patch isn’t until next year.

Had trouble choosing 5 tbh but only one deserves it on that list imo, Ghost of Tsushima.

This year had 2 big disappointments, TLOU2 and FF7 remake and I dislike both for similar reasons, the story.

Maybe they should have apologised before bragging about 8 millions preorders. They’ve pissed a lot of people off.

I think you should have scored it, people’s money is on the line and in this state it’s appalling. They deserve all the low scores they get for these base console versions.

@jmac1686 People have found HDR is outright broken on console on this game. Best to turn it off and leave it off until they fix it.

I find it funny, Sony support organisations that want to end capitalism and then increase their game prices all over the world to make more money. Keep fighting the good fight while treating your player base like mugs.

I won’t be paying £69.99 for any PS5 game. I think the price hike was a joke. I’ll be playing Sony exclusives when they drop in price.

I have the series x with gamepass and it’s the complete opposite, it feels like great value. I think that’s where I’ll be doing the majority of my gaming this gen.

No surprise. I think it was the biggest disappointment this year but that’s just my opinion. Ghost of Tsushima and Ori for me are both better games.

It’s a stunning looking game.... if you have a 3080 and Ray tracing set to high. Seems like an extremely low % of people will be experiencing this at its best. It’ll be interesting to see what the next gen patch brings, I’m definitely going to wait it out.

Like others have said here it’s looking a bit underwhelming as it stands on console.

I’ll get it when the next gen patch drops, not sure which system on yet but I’ll wait, seems like the smart thing to do for now.
