Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl might be a licensed multiplayer brawler on a limited budget, but it's drummed up a surprising amount of enthusiasm from fans of both fighting games and Nicktoons. In a recent overview video, the game looks more in-depth than you might expect, and it has some hopeful that it can pull its weight in the gameplay department. Of course, driving conversation around this game is the matter of characters, and the latest has just been announced via the PlayStation Blog.
Ren & Stimpy, a classic duo from a bygone Nicktoons era, will indeed be part of the roster. The pair will in fact be a single playable character, with slapstick moments between the cat and dog acting as their attacks. As with other characters in the game, many of their offensive manoeuvres make direct reference to scenes and moments from the cartoon series; we're sure fans will be able to spot them in the above trailer.
The game is set to arrive this Fall for both PlayStation 5 and PS4. Are you pleased to see Ren & Stimpy join the cast? Tell us in the comments section below.

I'd imagine most on here wouldn't know who Ren and Stimpy are !
I'm really hoping Jenny Wakeman, Timmy Turner, Jimmy Neutron, Rocko, Arnold and a few more of The Loud Sisters to be included as DLC, maybe even include a Nickelodeon Villains DLLC Pack as well, villains like Crocker or Jorgen Von Strangle, Man-Ray or Plankton, Shredder, Vexus & Vlad Phasmius.
I know, not gonna happen, just wishful thinking.
Finally, I can destroy some EEDIOTS as Ren and Stimpy in knock-off smash bros!
I love Ren & Stimpy, just truly bizarre TV.
Anybody interested in this? Genuinely curious but for 50 dollars I can't see too many people getting it at launch
@Logonogo I don't know, Smash Bros is extremely popular but it's Nintendo exclusive. This one's pretty much 100% Smash Bros, looks like a pretty solid knock-off and is multiplatform with a promise of good netcode (something that Smash lacks).
The characters themselves are popular too. It could sell very well.
God I hope this doesn't mean John K gets money from this game.
I’m excited for this game! It looks fun and I’m definitely going to try it out. But, I’m worried that there aren’t enough properties that Nickelodeon owns to keep this going after a couple installments. I think a ViacomCBS game with all of the properties would be interesting. Imagine Jeff Probst fighting the Angry Beavers 😂😂😂
Some noticeable cartoon characters I’d want:
I am a 90’s kid (born 1992) so I don’t know much past the 00’s. The last decade I have no clue about any of these shows. Regardless, I hope this game sells well
@CWill97 Ah, when they made real cartoons. Not the inoffensive rubbish they make today.
I would also add AAAHH!!! Real Monsters to the list.
It was a bit like Monsters Inc (before Monsters Inc).
"You stooopid eeediot"
@hypnotoad. A lot of people does.im a 190s kid and i grew up watching ren and stimpy.doug.etc word up son
Now we just need Rocko.
@Enuo I'm pretty certain he won't. I think only Viacom has licensing rights at this point. It may be worth looking into, though. UPDATE: Yeah, no worries, he's completely cut off from the property.
@playstation1995 Damn if i look at the cartoons they have they could come close to Smash. Even Garfield has been om their Network.
"Hey.....I'll give five whole bucks to anyone who can just knock me out"
........."FIVE BUCKS?!!"
SWAT Kats, Cow and Chicken, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Generator Rex, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Codename: Kids Next Door its insane the library of characters they have access to.
Man, I’ll always remember the episode about Ren’s fart. Glad I grew up when cartoons were actually good.
@Flaming_Kaiser. Paw patrol.Courage the cowardly dog. Alvin and the chipmunk.etc word up son
So im guessing the target audience is adults/young adults then huh ? what kids from the past two generations know about ren & stimpy and OG nickelodeon cartoons ? i think they should add more new nickelodeon characters than old , just for the simple fact that the generations shifted . whatever they're showing on nick these days for the current generation should be in the game too . but i get it , most things suck nowadays .
Happy, happy, joy, joy!
Okay, I am genuinely shocked at the level of quality that this game looks to have. I really didn't think much of it, but the more we keep seeing the more it impresses me.
Super happy to see Ren and Stimpy made the roster.
@nomither6 I’ve introduced my Nephews to all these old cartoons and they love them. Better times.
Okay now I might have to get this game.
Ren & Stimpy as a team character is brilliant. I really hope this delivers!
@playstation1995 @Flaming_Kaiser - Most of the shows you guys listed are Cartoon Network shows, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Codename Kids Next Door and Cow & Chicken are Cartoon Network IP's, not Nickelodeon.
That being said; I would love to see a Cartoon Network All-Star Brawl! Finn & Jake duking it out with Mordecai & Rigby, the Powerpuff Girls wiping the floor with Ed, Edd n Eddy, Samurai Jack attempting to slice & dice Ben 10, Courage headbutting Johnny Bravo in the gonads.
@Flaming_Kaiser
Some of those are Cartoon Network, not Nickelodeon.
I’d love to see Rocko and Mr Bighead.
@fR_eeBritney - So many great shows back in the day, very few goods nowadays, but I loved shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Hey Arthur, CatDog, Total Drama Series, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Making Fiends, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Invader Zim, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, The Wild Thornberries, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Tom & Jerry, Recess, Ducktales, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, Hey Arnold, Jake Long American Dragon, Kim Possible, Lilo & Stitch, Darkwing Duck, Samurai Jack, and a plethora of other shows I know I'm forgetting.
@JustPlainLoco. Paw patrol and alvin and the chipmunk is Nickelodeon.word up son
@JustPlainLoco I used to love The Wild Thornberries 😁 Also Jumanji: The Animated Series. Wish they would release the dvds for Jumanji in Region 2 format. The intro was brilliant. Kinda reminds me of the Uncharted theme song. A lot of unrestrained creativity back then.
I ***** with rent and stimpy. this has me intrigue slightly.
Giving money to Nickelodeon? not in a million years.
@fR_eeBritney duckman was a gem.
Legendary cartoon characters and the game looks better and better after each preview.
Fun game to play with my kids. Looks just as good as smash bros. Really surprised they didn't add the paw patrol considering the popularity of that franchise, would sell like cupcakes. Dora and swiper would be a nice surprise to.
Personally I for the life of me cannot stand R and S. Sure it might have seemed groundbreaking back in the 90s, but to me it hasn't really aged that well by modern standards. The comedy's awkwardly paced and lacks any real wit or spontaneity, the random dips into psycho melodrama were more grating than compelling. Not to mention the nasty revelations that came out concerning its creator a few years back.
@Blackjay It's definitely not for most. And kind of a "you had to be there" sort of thing.
@JustPlainLoco Im sorry i probably looked at the wrong wiki i guess. Thanks for correcting me.
@JustPlainLoco Thanks for correcting me my apologies.
@Flaming_Kaiser - Nah it's all good, I've been on a Cartoon binge as of late, in preparation for a fan-made YouTube project where 16 characters across different animated shows are trapped in a school together and are forced to kill one another and then solve the mystery behind each murder in order to escape. It's called 'Cartoons in Danganronpa', look into it, it's incredible stuff.
It's got Dipper & Mabel from Gravity Falls. Zim, Dib & Gaz from Invader Zim. Morty from Rick & Morty. Ed & Eddy from Ed, Edd n Eddy. Kyle & Cartman from South Park. Blossom & Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls. Charlotte & Vendetta from Making Fiends. Jenny Wakeman from My Life as a Teenage Robot. And Star Butterfly from Star Vs The Forces of Evil.
@JustPlainLoco I was always a big fan of Life with Louie, Samurai Jack, Generator Rex, Rocko, Gravity Falls, Courage Avatar, Ed Edd and Eddy, Regular Show, Samurai Pizza Cats, Bikermice from Mars, Eek the Cat, Terrible Thunderlizards, Sharky the Sharkdog and even Gumball, Flapjack. I know from different Networks but we have had so many great shows a game with coöperation between Networks would be awsome.
@Voltan I hope so!
