Gets a 9 from me. I really enjoyed it, the use of colour and the art direction is phenomenal in Ghost. It’s not a perfect game though, I felt it did really start to drag near the end and while the story was ok it wasn’t great. I enjoyed some side stories like Yuna’s and the revenge lady more than the main story. It does get really repetitive too.
The art direction and setting kept me interested though and made it memorable, great game.
Does this upgrade have ray tracing? The reflections in puddles are exceptional if it’s not ray traced. Nowhere says it is so I’m guessing it isn’t which is crazy.
One of the best games i played on PS4, it really is excellent and I’m not the biggest fan of stealth games. I started it on PS5 last night and it looks phenomenal, much crisper and better looking than I remember. I don’t play many games twice, this one i am.
To anyone playing on PS5 and thinking wow this looks blurry, go to the graphics settings and put chromatic aberration to low.
I find the whole, ‘I won’t buy it because a sequel won’t come to playstation’ or ‘I won’t buy it because MS own them now’ comments bizarre. If the games good and you want to play on PS5 with no other option, neither of those things should matter, buy the game and enjoy it for what it is on its own merits whenever you want.
@TomDobo you shouldn’t have to leave any game in rest mode to continue it. It’s a stupid idea in the first place even if that’s their ‘vision’.
@TomDobo the game isn’t for me? I’ve gotten to the 3rd biome with limited gaming time I don’t think you get to say who this game is for.
If it’s the developers vision they should make sure their game works as intended.
Again so what if they do? How does it affect your game and playthrough? Why do you care what other players are doing. Let people enjoy it however they like.
@TomDobo so what though if people abuse it? If they wanna cheese it who cares like what difference does it make to you and your game?
With a save state I’d play the same but instead of putting the PS5 in rest mode I’d just quit and save then go back to it, it’s the exact same. I could even play a couple of other games without worrying about losing progress quitting the app. I don’t understand why people are against it? Because more people may cheese and finish it maybe and you’ll somehow feel less of an accomplishment? I don’t know but at the end of the day no one cares.
@CynicalGamer dying and starting from the beginning over and over I’m fine with, that’s the game. When you die you know why usually and learn. It’s pretty hard but rewarding. I’d wait for a save feature or patches eliminating the crashes before recommending this game to anyone as it stands now.
@render it’s a good game I enjoy it, is a shame this happened as it’s completely killed any feeling I have of wanting to continue. I only get limited time to game of an evening or weekends so losing that 3 hours was pretty soul destroying.
@Futureshark yeah I did get the grapple, but the game crashed my system and I lost all progress I made in that 3 hour playthrough. The only save available started me again without the grapple.
@render after beating the second boss i would have saved and quit in any other game and had a break but I carried on for another half hour or so until I died, then put the PS5 into rest mode, but like I said it crashed my system and I lost everything I’d just spent 3 hours doing.
If I could have just quit the game and it started me in the 3rd area where Id have left it, like it should have putting it into rest mode what’s the difference? Yeah maybe I’d have died pretty quickly but I’d still have not lost 3 hours progress in one go 😔
To anyone saying save state should not be added, why not? How will it affect you if you can play the game as you have been anyway? How is saving when you quit any different to leaving the console in rest mode anyway? It won’t diminish your time with the game or anyone else’s.
Why be so elitist? Not everyone has the same time available or gaming needs as you.
I played this game for 3 hours and finally beat the second boss over the weekend. Then putting my PS5 into rest mode it crashed the system and I lost all progress. Anyone who thinks this game and it’s save situation is adequate needs their head checking or has more time than sense on their hands.
It’s a good game but I have other ***** to do in my life than spend hours on end regularly on one game with no real save feature. If I’d had paid full price for this game I’d be very unhappy as it’s still broken imo.
@Nepp67 Sony simps have a very hard time understanding what the issue is because they believe they can do no wrong. Your examples are fair, both metro exodus and doom eternal among other games have had substantial next gen upgrades for free, yet for some reason Sony charging £10 or whatever to upgrade a game you already own is just fine, even when you paid full price and supported that game at launch.
Great piece. Like others have said it’s a stark contrast to the beginning of the PS4 era were Sony did really seem to care about indies. It’s a big deal to me as I find some indies more enjoyable these days compared to the big triple A garbage the bigger industry leaders pump out.
This is an area Sony need to improve on again, and love or hate Gamepass it’s so good for playing and supporting indies with.
@Waffles12415 that’s not the point, the option is there to buy Hivebusters separate without any sort of silly upgrade cost. You can buy Gears 5 for a tiny amount of money and pop it into your Series X and get the full next gen version for nothing. I know who’s offering the best value.
@Nem but you can compare PlayStations eco system to any other eco system and that’s fair.
Take Gears 5, it had a substantial Series X upgrade for free and they released Hivebusters as a separate expansion you can either play day 1 on Gamepass or buy if you want. There was no silly upgrade fee if you owned the Xbox one version.
When you compare that to Sony it’s completely fair to compare to 2 eco systems and to see who’s ripping off their own player base.
My issue is the upgrade fee. I purchased GoT full price at launch, I supported it and now they want more money just to play the game with some enhancements on PS5, nahhh I’ll pass.
Charging for an expansion is okay, I’d expect to pay around £15 depending on the size of it but Sony has made a mess of this whole thing and how anyone can defend it is beyond me. If you do you are the problem as to why they keep doing these ***** anti consumer price hikes.
I’ve already been pretty hard on Sony for what was a £20 increase here for their exclusive titles, now they want £10 /30 to upgrade from a game we already own HAHAHAHA.
Absolute disgrace, Sony ain’t the same company they used to be and still they have fans blindly defending them over anything they do on sites like this.
Im not surprised some Sony fans ain’t the smartest. Moaning about the likes of Starfield being an exclusive while justifying Sony moneyhatting 3rd party games and coughing up £70 without question to Sony for their exclusives.
I have Gamepass so anything coming day one is great, there were a ton of games I’m interested in in that presentation so I’m relatively happy. It feels like value compared to Sonys ridiculous pricing this gen.
Still too many CGI trailers though, they do nothing for me. I do wish there was more gameplay shown.
I played it on Gamepass and quite enjoyed it. Nice looking game in a lot of areas. It’s absolutely nothing special in its gameplay but it kept me interested enough to finish it.
I would not pay full price for the game, definitely wait for a sale if you’re interested in this.
Let’s be honest they knew this when they released the trailer with 2021 in big numbers with no gameplay. They didn’t even need to, the PS5 would still have shifted like it has anyway, bizarre decision.
Sounds bad. I love 40K but the games have been so poor for some time now I’ve lost any interest in them. I’m waiting for a good turn based game like Xcom in the 40K universe but even that would probably turn out to be gash somehow.
@S1ayeR74 I have to agree with you about the story with the first game, I thought it was really poor and it felt like you were doing boring side quests for drones.
I did enjoy the gameplay though, the combat was pretty fun imo. I liked the game but I didn’t love it.
Be interesting to see digital sales too, I have a feeling Sony’s new price tag isn’t going down too well, especially when it comes to niche titles such as this. Everywhere you look, be it YouTube, here or wherever people are complaining about it.

You can look at something as recent as Cyberpunk to see this statement is completely untrue.

Re: Random: Sony Ad Shows PS5 Console Placed Upside Down
@The_New_Butler I got the Dbrand black plates and it’s much better but the overall shape can’t be fixed, yuk.
Any console that needs a stand to lay horizontally is badly designed imo.
Re: Mini Review: A Plague Tale: Innocence (PS5) - Rats a Good Next-Gen Upgrade
@thefourfoldroot I don’t like stealth games, but really enjoyed this game. I’d say at least give it a try it’s worth it.

The trailers have been funky and stylish but this game just doesn’t look like it’s for me. I won’t be getting it.

Love A Plague Tale quality game. Does this have a separate trophy list or not?
