Re: Gorgeous JRPG Octopath Traveler 2 Looks Stunning in New Trailer

Fenbops

I loved the first game. It looked marvellous on the switch. I just hope this isn’t ‘too’ similar to the first. The scholar and Merchant were both in the first game so are they the same but with different stories? Also while the first was great it was very lacklustre when it came to explaining why you’re team were travelling around together. It was a little weird.

I’ll keep my eye on this one.

Re: PlayStation Bigwigs Won't Shut Up About PC, Smartphones

Fenbops

All the talk about the PS5 before it released, ‘we believe in generations and the SSD is so fast it’ll change the way games are designed. I’m not seeing it. I’m seeing cross gen games, remakes/remasters and the same game design that we’ve seen for the last 10+ years.

Like others have said it feels like this gen hasn’t started properly yet, that’s across all next gen consoles.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster for PS5 Reportedly in Development

Fenbops

It’s depressing but the demand is obviously there. This will be another hard pass from me if the rumour is true. The state of triple A gaming is at an all time low, everything is a remake/remaster or sequels which barely differ from other games in a series.

Give me a Stray or Scorn to play any day over the tripe big studios are pumping out.

Re: PS5 Price Increase Confirmed for UK, Europe, Japan, Canada, and More

Fenbops

@Royalblues people who tell you to find a new hobby are so funny if you can’t afford gaming. Who says you even have to find a new hobby? What you were saying was people will look at the lower price point of the competition and buy just off of that alone, that will happen for a fact now. You now have a more expensive console with more expensive games when the competition offers a cheaper option with an affordable alternative like Gamepass. MS is kind of irrelevant in all this, they don’t have to do anything right now, Sony are making themselves look the worst.

It’s not a case of just ‘find another hobby’. People don’t need to.

Re: Microsoft Accuses Sony of Paying to Block Games from Xbox Game Pass

Fenbops

"Considering that exclusivity strategies have been at the core of Sony's strategy to strengthen its presence in the games industry, and that Sony is a leader in the distribution of digital games, Sony's concern with possible exclusivity of Activision's content is incoherent, to say the least."

MS are not wrong, what they are saying is a fact and I can even understand Sony opposing the deal from a business standpoint but it’s also kind of laughable after Sony has been aggressively buying exclusivity and studios since before Xbox was even a thing. Now they’re facing stiffer competition they’re flapping it.

Re: Press X for Trophies Is a Sad Indictment of PS5, PS4 Today

Fenbops

I can’t blame any developer for jumping on this and trying to make some money from ‘trophy hunters’.

I’d say this highlights a bigger problem within the gaming community, the obsession with Achievements/Trophies. Like anything trophies can be fun to try and obtain but I also think it can be a really unhealthy trap to fall into. Anyone buying games like this I’d argue has fell into an unhealthy obsession.

I’m sure Sony could do more to moderate their storefront but don’t think they will while they’re making good money but maybe here the problem isn’t the game but gamers themselves.

Re: We're Sure Fans Will Be Rational Over This The Last of Us PS5 Clip

Fenbops

The problem isn’t the remaster itself, although it is stupid and a cash grab, it’s the price point at £70.

You can all spend your money on what you want but if you buy this at full price you’re part of the problem. Imagine if Microsoft ‘remastered’ Gears Ultimate Edition and charged £70. They’d be the worlds worst.

Re: Sony Coy on Potential PS5 Price Increase

Fenbops

@Royalblues it would only be temporary if sales took a huge hit like I said, I think you’d see a huge amount of backlash on social media (ew) and online but just like the £70/$70 price tag I think they’ll ignore it and see how it sells. If the masses continue to buy there’s no way it would ever come back down, just like anything else like TV’s or phones. Prices never come back down. Xbox wouldn’t even have to slash their console prices they’d have an instant advantage unless they followed suit of course. Sony are charging £70 for a remaster of a remaster despite some pushback online.

It would be insanity for Sony to increase their consoles price but you don’t know with Sony anymore, they don’t care.

Re: Sony Coy on Potential PS5 Price Increase

Fenbops

@Royalblues if it happens, there’s no way it’s temporary, unless sales actually take a massive hit. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try it, the majority of people have seemingly bought into £70 games without question.

Re: Best Platformers on PS5

Fenbops

I really didn’t like crash 4. It looks great but something felt off about it.

Astro’s playroom is still one of the best PS5 games I’ve played. So fun.
