I love my PS5, mainly because I can play games from the last few years but with the bonus of of actually being able to hear the TV! The launch window has been pretty underwhelming when it comes to actual PS5 games - six, maybe seven next gen games in total? Which also goes a long way to explain the oft ignored new 3D audio tech, 99% of games played on a PS5 weren't designed with it in mind, not properly.

But yeah playing last gen games with frame rate boosts, pixel boosts and faster loading (arguably how the devs always hoped for?) has been pretty good. The first year is always a weird one, but just wait until games start being made in Unreal 5 with current gen tech. We thought games couldn't look better than TLOU2 or RDR2, these games will be made to look cute in comparison.

Anyone know if there's a 4k upload of this yet?

@chicken_chaser live service is great for online games, I don't think they'd survive without it. Yet to see it be implemented well in a linear (or semi-linear) story game, though.

@Integrity to be fair to PS, while the review of the game and failure to hammer the pay to win/gambling/psychological mechanics was lazy, it wasn't just this site - it was across the board (mostly - Eurogamer had a great review article on it). But yeah it's the same fifa as the last three years, a few patches won't change that.

Are there any aim assist options? Far Cry 5 was awesome but when it's ultimately a shooter - the very type of game that you SUCK at - it can make it harder to enjoy without a bit of assist.

7, 8, 9 & 10 were the golden age for me. 7 got me into the series when I was 11 but the series peaked with 15 for me.

Gotta love those contrarians giving it a low score to stand out. I'm not exactly a Far Cry fan but you can't deny they're exceptionally made games.

@nessisonett they absolutely can! In this game, Thanos is literally in love with Death (or Lady Death), just as he should be.

Detroit and Heavy Rain are some of the best narratives in gaming so I can't wait for this one!

The only downside being it's been in development for only a year - we've already seen just how amazing they can make a game look on PS4, would much prefer this to be a current-gen only title to push the visuals even further.

The prices of compatible SSD's made me instantly sweat loads.

Did Odyssey and Origins get one on PlayStation as well?

@zebric21 it's the 2019 LG B9 OLED... it should just about be able to keep up! VRR is the solution. Series X is fine with it on. Sony have promised the patch "soon" though.

@eagletrippin the output is still in HDR but a more washed out, less impactful version of it. Like going from HDR10+ to a couple of levels down. You sacrifice the top level, deeper darks and higher brights when you drop to -1 or -2 (as well as the sound quality).

@eagletrippin it's crazy that we're still waiting on it. Having to sacrifice true full HDR just to have a bearable smooth screen is pretty embarrassing for them to be honest.

not sure if it's mentioned in another article but the PS App will have a pretty important update, too. View share screens, remote play over mobile data (something Microsoft had an advantage at up until now)

I shouted out loud at that Wolverine reveal. Completely blindsided. The only other two times that's happened for me were the reveals for TLoU 2 and FF7 Remake.

Good points - I think doubly so considering their decisions to pull away from E3. Better be worth it.

I know this isn't very realistic given there's over 100 million potential customers, but I'd love to see a current-gen only Crash be developed. If we thought the remake looked good on nearly a decade old hardware - and it did - imagine how good it could look in 2 years or so!

@Divergent95 Still not jumped into 2 yet! I loved the first one but Before the Storm was so bad it put me off the franchise for a while. Probably going to jump into 2 while I wait for this to turn up in a sale.

@Rob_230 it should be a vital component of reviews to be fair. The score and/or sound design can make or break the entire experience.

It's essentially a last-gen game with a bit of polish. This generation has been a con so far, especially from Sony.

That deep snow is mental. I remember seeing characters move through it in RDR2 and thinking how long we'd have to wait to see that improved upon. This is a whole different level!

@Bleachedsmiles I bought the PSVR for it. Main attraction for me. A quick skim online suggests I definitely wasn't the only one.

I still can't get my head around how good this is, or that a Tetris game can be something transcendental. Trying to get my mates to check out the demo was so difficult because if it was me even I would have laughed it off. When somebody like Eurogamer gives it their GOTY you know it's something special.

@somnambulance yeah Before the Storm was dining out on the love and goodwill towards the original LiS. If it was a a new game it would have flopped hard. Cautiously optimistic about this one though without the baggage of a half-told story to weigh it down! Soundtrack sounds awesome too.

Great that you can keep HDR on with 120 fps! You had to turn it off in Warzone

@ShogunRok Ridiculous. And yet weirdly it still feels like talking to people mainstream, they've either never heard of it or sort of know it from 20 years ago. I don't know if these things are made public but I'd love to see a breakdown of shark card sales vs actual game sales.

Biggest media product of any kind ever? Surely in the running! Although I wouldn't agree that it's partly down to gta online, I'd say it's mostly down to gta online.

I keep dipping my toes back into it every now and then, both story and online, bought it at launch on ps3, and I'm still noticing and finding new things. Open world peaked with this game. Here's hoping for a bigger better next gen title in the next five years or so.

Nice. Bound and Gris were the last great successes of this type of approach for me.
