The free PlayStation Plus titles for the month of September 2021 are available to download now, but did you know there is a neat little trick that makes the best game in the line-up run even better? We're talking about Hitman 2, which can utilise a 4K resolution, run at 60 frames-per-second, and take advantage of the DualSense controller if you play through the Hitman 3 launcher on PlayStation 5. IO Interactive put in the work to make this possible when the third entry launched at the beginning of this year, and you don't need to spend any extra pennies to achieve it.

What you're looking to do is run Hitman 2 in the Hitman 3 engine through the free starter pack available on the PS Store. Here's a step by step guide on how to do it:

  1. Redeem Hitman 2 off PS Plus (UK + EU link / US link) and then download the Hitman 3 Starter Pack (UK + EU link / US link)
  2. Claim Hitman 3 Access Pass: Hitman 2 Standard (UK + EU link / US link) off the PS Store
  3. Play Hitman 2 through Hitman 3 by launching the PS5 Starter Pack
