There is genuinely no greater demoralising experience than attempting to buy a couple weeks worth of food in this current economic climate. Forget the price of games consoles, I’m a fairly decent cook yet the cost of fresh food from a supermarket to make dinners alone is extortionate, even planning around multiple nights with reuse of ingredients and so forth. You’re railroaded into buying cheap processed crap. Things are truly dreadful and I just don’t see any end in sight, short of me winning the lottery despite not having the money to waste playing it. There comes a point where you question whether you’re enough of a drain on those that you love that they’d have a better quality of life without you.

This was ground zero for modern Sony. A lot of the issues with Concord can be attributed to lessons that were not learned from this game.

@Anke Lego Worlds is genuinely one of the most disappointing games I ever bought. The concept sounded great but it wasn’t ever satisfying.

@Werehog I replayed Nightfire again a couple months back for a RetroAchievements event and I both loved returning to it and also remembered that as much as I think lots of it is good, the best memories were with the multiplayer. I like the campaign plenty but the underwater car level alone is just a complete nightmare!

Builders is brilliant so a new one would be great. I also adore IX so I’d love to see that be given a modern release with intact multiplayer. And of course XII would be nice to see.

Genuinely rank idea. Was only 20 or so years ago when adverts were seen as scummy as they are, and selling out was a mortal sin. Now you get idiot ‘influencers’ selling their souls to protein powders and gambling sites for a payday and they aren’t shamed half as much as they should be.

Genuinely do not have many problems at all using RPCS3 compared to just a year or two ago. Those devs are wizards.

Unreal Engine 5 has been a bit of a mess. I don’t have much hopes for the next generation of games if they’re still beholden to Epic.

@LiamOliver I was really pleasantly surprised playing it for the first time last year, along with Shift 2. I think the first one is more fun but the sequel makes you feel like an actual driver with the helmet cam being probably the most terrifying and disconcerting thing I’ve tried outside of VR.

This is child’s play compared to Conception!

@PeteW Crazy there’s no Caterham cars at all in 7, I’ve not got the game yet but I do love those silly little cars. The R500 is super fun to drive in Need for Speed Shift (or maybe it’s sequel), which is itself a ludicrously underrated game.

@get2sammyb 13,600 hours is slightly horrifyingly close to your total given that you literally do this for a living! Interesting that my first trophies were apparently as recently as 2015 though, I must have made my own account when I got Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and had been just using my dad’s old account before then. Same year as my Steam account then as I have 11 years of service there, although that pales in comparison to my uncle having a 22 years of service badge. Which is the furthest back one I’ve seen.

@For-Kier I’d argue the opposite, AI being unflinching just makes vulnerabilities easier to exploit as once you know how to fool the chatbot, it applies to every session until Sony catch on. Whereas the varying nature of humans means that something that may work to fool one person might not work for another. Plus the chatbot does not have a range of suspicion or gut feelings that a human does as it solely works on a checklist based evidence system.

I dunno if this sets the best precedent. There are an awful lot of games that are transformed by patches to the point that I don’t think you’ll be able to cover the bulk of them alongside new releases. So then it begs the question why this game? Is it just caving to pressure from the weirdo stans who ride hard for this game alone? Plus, will this new score be used to bump up the game’s Metascore which is often tied to bonuses and the like?

It should have been building towards a Destiny 3. I assume Sony said no, and that’s why all bets were on Marathon. I have incredibly fond memories of Destiny 2, sunk a good couple hundred hours into it about 2019/2020. I absolutely would come back for a third game.

It’s at the point now where I think this deal was worse for Bungie than Sony. Sony spunked away billions but Bungie are essentially dead now. They had a relatively successful series with a loyal fanbase and Sony have killed them.

What a sad end for a game that’s lasted that long. For as much as Destiny had ups and downs, do we really think Marathon has the same legs?

It’s at the point now where everything going up across the board makes any sort of hobby prohibitively expensive. Job prospects are dire and even people working 40 hour weeks can’t afford to get on the property ladder. This is a small increase in the grand scheme of things but it’s indicative of the general squeeze.

They should randomly select those who didn’t sign up like jury duty.

I wish this was in every game. Sometimes there’s just too much on screen.

There are a million factors which have to align to make these games take off. Sure, if they do take off then you’re set, but that’s getting rarer than ever. I just think that they need to go back to how it used to be. Have a budget, have a sales target, release your game for a fixed price.

Something to get excited about will be nice.

The fact I was actually lowballing when I said this thing cost £700. Dear Lord.

@IamJT Anyone that spends £700 will be desperate to justify their purchase to themselves and others. I don’t think it’s possible to be objective.

The real question should be if it’s a £700 improvement on the base console. Which will never be true.

@Dog_Biscuits PS3 emulation’s pretty good by now but native versions of that trilogy would sell. Honestly all of the old trilogy packs from the PS3 days would sell, Ratchet, Sly Cooper, Killzone, Resistance etc. Just seems like an easy enough money-maker if they hadn’t been shutting down support devs who would be perfect for this sort of thing.

I think the games should come to PC down the line. There is no harm in Uncharted 1-3 coming to PC.

If PS Plus is free then there will be loads of hackers whereas this doesn’t happen since PS Plus is paid. Is that right?

@Slayer25c Anyone trying to act like there are no cheaters or hackers on PS5 are mad. Ximming alone is fairly widespread in shooters and sports games have been pretty bad for scripters, especially 2K. Then you have less malicious cheaters like for example in Dark Souls 2, I was invaded by somebody who walked up to me and dropped practically every single equipment piece fully upgraded on the ground for me to pick up. I honestly have seen more cheaters on PS5 than I saw in about a decade of playing Counter Strike. Also if you pay for PC security you are a paypig, I cannot fathom being stupid enough to get a virus in the year 2026 with all the inbuilt security modern Windows already has. To the point that it’s sometimes more intrusive to have security features on than off.

Sony are big enough to shoulder the cost of running online infrastructure, especially if they’re going to be releasing exclusive GAAS, where you have to pay both for the game and the privilege of playing it.

I’ll believe it when I see it. And just being exclusive and single player doesn’t mean it’s good, they still have to recapture the quality too.

I think it’s a good idea, the original’s pacing is super strange as it is. There’s plenty scope for more detail especially when it comes to Edward’s interactions with other pirates and the fate of Stede Bonnet etc.

Cyclops is one of those weird ones that people hate him for y’know killing Professor X and becoming a Mega Terrorist but I always found that at least interesting even if they cop out by blaming it on the Phoenix Force. Better than him being the world’s worst husband/incredibly deadbeat dad.

Don’t care. It can be the best game in the world but it only exists because they want to make money off the back of other people’s work.

The mark of a true indie studio, being able to pay for perpetual licensing via money sourced from the nepo baby of an ethnic-cleansing-funding shrivelled up husk of a man.

Absolutely fantastic game that’s also sort of mad and hilarious. We’ll probably never see anything like it again which is a sign of how narrow AAA gameplay systems have become.

Absolutely happy to play Outlaws finally. Premium continues to be guff.

I’d say there’s no sports titles as it’s basically end of the cycle for all of them apart from The Show and that’s a smaller market. In normal years, it’s TOTS in FIFA but I just think the bubble’s burst with those games for now. Nobody’s playing it. Everyone’s moved on. Mad really.

It’s the only way you could really do it, it has to stand alone therefore they cover what they haven’t before now. Because as much as I adore Casino Royale and probably think it’s the best Bond film out there (at least up there with GoldenEye), it’s a bit mad that Craig immediately went from ‘new recruit’ to ‘washed up has-been’ in the space of about 2 movies. Maybe this will let us see Bond earn his stripes at a better pace.
