Re: 'I Don't Think Prompting Is Art': The Last of Us Co-Creator Isn't a Fan of Generative AI

nessisonett

Anyone who peddles gen AI is missing the spark in their heart that makes them a real human. It’s a sign of true sociopathy and arrogance to think that an aggregator can mimic human creativity. I’m not a particularly religious person but humanity (and some other animals) has a unique element and that’s the ability to dream and to create. Gen AI does not have aspirations, it does not love, it does not hate, it does not have any real intentions behind anything it does. Ask yourself if you’d rather look at a drawing your child has made for you or a cartoon knock-off of the Mona Lisa. It’s not about fidelity and it never has been, it’s about the heart behind the art. If you can’t see that then you’re beyond help.

Re: This Is the New Voice of Lara Croft in the PS5 Era of Tomb Raider Games

@tameshiyaku Having been replaying the old games, I was a bit shocked at just how blatantly Lara will gun down tribespeople and endangered animals to get her hands on artefacts lol. That being said, the Survivor trilogy did feel like a symptom of strange Puritanism missing the point when it came to Lara Croft. By taking away her confidence and sexuality, it took away basically all her character. I think her design here looks great even if the false eyelashes and inevitable underboob sweat will make her trek through the jungle a million times harder. Lara should be a power fantasy for girls as much as she’s a sex symbol.

Re: This Musical RPG's Not Going to Appeal to Everyone, But We're Moving It to the Top of Our PS5 Wishlist

It would probably be fun if the music was, uh, good. I swear there’s limitless youngish pop stars with capitalised one word names, they have to be AI generated at this point. Like the wave of indie bands from the 00s/10s with vaguely punny names that referenced celebrities like Ringo Deathstarr, Com Truise, Elvis Depressedly etc. And of course, internationally renowned and greatest of all bands, Dananananaykroyd.

Re: PlayStation Confirmed for the Game Awards with a New Look at PS5 Exclusive Saros

@Brundleflies21 I don’t think it knew what it was. The roguelike structure didn’t add anything other than artificial difficulty and length. None of the upgrades you got throughout a run felt particularly exciting, especially compared to the abilities or weapons you pick up through a run of Gungeon, Isaac, Hades etc. But if you played it as a straight up third person shooter from beginning to end, it would only take a couple of hours. Making it a roguelike felt more like a way to cover up just how little content it had rather than it being baked into the game’s DNA. The final boss is incredibly anticlimactic too, felt easier than most of the others and just sort of ended. There are elements that are cool and the core gameplay is solid, it just should have had a lot more content especially for a £70 game.

Re: Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Leaks in Age Rating Listing

One of my least favourite AC games other than the plot, which I genuinely think is brilliant and there’s a bunch of great actors on top form throughout. That one mission tailing the boat through the swamp is the worst mission in anything I’ve ever played. That being said, this remake being real gives them a huge opportunity to canonise any future remakes by having new modern day sections requiring characters to reassess Edward’s memories. It’s the ideal way to explain some events changing or being added, you’re just accessing his memories with a newer version of the Animus. AC has the greatest mesh of story and gameplay concepts in all of gaming but they don’t fully utilise it.

Re: Honkai: Star Rail's Milestone PS5 Update Allegedly Postponed Due to Political Tensions

@Gaia093 It’s a bit much to immediately blame ordinary Chinese people for having issues with Japan. Japan’s new prime minster is a blatant war crime apologist, glorifying those who carried out mass rape, indiscriminate killings and so forth throughout China in WW2. These things don’t exist within a vacuum, there’s complicated political tensions regarding Taiwan but the ordinary Chinese gamer is bound to be a bit wary of celebrating Japanese culture at the moment when they’re becoming increasingly militarised and the last time they moved in that direction, they waged truly horrific atrocities on Chinese soil. It’s deep rooted mistrust amongst both sides that’s being brought to the forefront by current tensions rather than some sort of petty grievance.

Re: 'It's a Huge Upgrade': PS5 Pro Poised to Improve Massively in 2026

nessisonett

Oh the irony of ‘Moore’s Law Is Dead’ waxing lyrical about fairly small improvements to a £700 mid-gen refresh. I’d much rather Sony improved the DualSense, that’s another one just fully died on me with the drift getting too awful to ignore. £50-odd quid for a new one means I’ll just not be able to play the PS5 at all for the foreseeable. Thought the joy-cons were bad but the second pair have lasted a lot longer than my two DualSenses have.

Re: Going Platinum #2: The Witness

This is my most proud platinum by a long long way. That final challenge I finally did at about 4AM after a million tries. Nothing has pushed me that far in terms of puzzle solving and I’d love to play it again.
