@tomassi Classic Patch for FIFA 14 and 16 is about as close as we can get for breadth, there are so many tournaments included in that all the way back to accurate 1800s teams, it’s an impressive mod. They even replace the cameramen with old fashioned guys with vintage cameras. PES 99 is also a cool mod and that includes France 98 with all the old broadcast bits and pieces. Mods are amazing but an actual game from 2K as authentic as the eras stuff would be great.
I’m playing Assassin’s Creed Rogue at the moment for the platinum. It was made by a side studio in 8 months using a mixture of reused assets and interesting new mechanics and it’s genuinely a good game. I can’t imagine it cost all that much to make but other than being quite glitchy and not particularly innovative, it shows a way for studios to create smaller games that make a profit in between these stupidly expensive megaprojects. Sony have all these studios at their disposal and I’m sure they have extensive documentation from previous releases. Whack out a few smaller games using those engines and the teams that have been condemned to live service hell. A small scale Infamous or Killzone to gauge support for a full sequel perhaps.
@OrbiterNightfall In what world is it a conspiracy that Infantino licks Trump’s orange taint? He invented a fake peace prize literally just to appease him!
@OrbiterNightfall Why would the FBI investigate a guy that’s blatantly in cahoots with Trump? Blatter was corrupt but him not being in the pocket of the US is what brought him down. Infantino will absolutely be remembered in a decade’s time as even worse than Blatter.
@OrbiterNightfall Infantino invented an entire fake prize to give to Trump. And covered up migrant worker deaths in Qatar. And awarded the 2034 World Cup to Saudi Arabia almost exactly the same time as they promised to bankroll the Club World Cup.
@OrbiterNightfall Soulless slop designed by committee. That bald corrupt fraud is somehow more detestable than Blatter ever was. At least he genuinely loved football, Infantino sees it as a route to power and nothing more.
I thought it was sort of bad to be honest. A decent idea for the first hour and then you realise that’s just the full game. Some of the worst open world art direction I’ve seen too, felt like an Unreal Engine demo.
F**king hell, this has Infantino written all over it. Bitmojis of actually good footballers mixed with utter nonsense in an appeal to ‘the kids’ that they don’t have any idea about. Please just give 2K the World Cup license and let them give it the Eras treatment.
@KingPev Wrong. They’re in business to make more money than last year. Which is where the issue lies. There is never a point that is ‘good enough’ so they push and push and then it all falls apart.
@INeedGoodGraphics By this point in the 3DS’ lifespan you could get a 2DS for like £70 with a game included. But then everything is expensive these days and has been for a few years now.
It’s about making sure that the shareholders get more returns each year. If revenue is down then they have to cut outgoings by even more, god forbid shareholders make a bit less this year.
The fact a 4 year old game is still one of the most graphically intensive games on the system speaks more to the general disaster of this gen than anything. We’re at the point in the PS5’s lifespan where 2019 was for the PS4. Resident Evil 2 and Death Stranding came out that year and were massively ahead of the PS4’s launch titles. I wouldn’t say that games this year are that noticeably more impressive looking than Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls
@kmtrain83 All I can recommend is that you tell him to take classes in another field and hope he can switch his degree. I graduated in Computing Science in 2022 and the industry is completely dead. Especially so for those just starting out. And in the States you can find graphs that show the jobs have cratered in the industry. Good luck to him but this is not a stable industry and newer graduates are the first group to be thrown off the bus.
@CielloArc On the flip side, you’re so so much safer writing down literally all your passwords and bank info on a bit of paper in your house than ever letting any of it be saved onto a server. For years they told us to never write it down blah blah but if someone breaks into your house then they’re not going to spend the time typing your passwords into anything, they’ll nick the computer and sell it for parts.
@Balosi It’ll take more manpower than you think. Vibe coding is going to make the shovelware problem a million times worse in the coming months and if they’re all getting submitted for approval then Sony will have a crazy backlog where actually worthwhile games are falling through the cracks. The only solutions are either limiting dev kits and licenses which will screw over first-time devs and super small teams, or putting together a larger approval team to tackle the backlog which will obviously cost a lot. And be the most boring job in the world.
@LogicStrikesAgain I got a cheap PSVR1 a few years back and I did connect it to the PC but I found it had pretty mixed results. Plus that headset made me super ill, I’ve heard the PSVR2 is a lot better for that. And I really want to play the Assassin’s Creed VR game but apparently that’s exclusive to Meta headsets or something.
Generally, an open storefront was an admirable idea and encouraged loads of indie devs. It’s been ruined by shovelware, specifically the AI riddled lot. I don’t see any way to run the PS Store without strict moderation these days.
@Spookles It’s almost £400 just for the headset and then the actual games on top of that are another couple hundred quid. I just don’t see that happening.
The sort of thing I’d love to try but there’s no way I’d ever have the money to get. I get why PSVR2 is that expensive, it’s honestly cheap compared to some of the headsets out there, but it’s still pretty crazy considering how small the library really is.
I thought PGA Tour was an absolutely gorgeous game and the gameplay was pretty good but the progression was woeful. It shouldn’t be that hard to make a game better than Tiger Woods 2004!
@get2sammyb Worth a mention that the day 1 patch apparently added a fast travel point inside the main town that wasn’t there beforehand, which a lot of the reviewers have said would have cut around 3-4 hours off their playtime 😂
@belmont Sins Past is awful but I don’t think One More Day is entirely his fault given editorial’s influence. I just really liked the status quo in that run more than the ‘big’ storylines, loved Peter as a teacher too. Plus the other titles around that time were brilliant, Knights and Spectacular were just as good as Amazing during that time period and I love Jenkins’ PP:SM run. Mind you, I absolutely loved the post-Clone Saga Ben Reilly run so maybe my tastes are strange 😂
It’s common sense. Besides, anyone with the lack of creativity to actually use these slop machines can’t even get interesting results out of them… because they lack the creativity to do anything with them. Anybody who could theoretically use GenAI to make something worthwhile is vehemently opposed to the very idea of it.
@HRdepartment You’d think it had killed somebody’s pet or something, the way that people are so desperate to hate on it. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
For a game that everyone ‘glazes’, all I see is people ripping into it while saying that everyone is glazing it. The power of extreme polarisation being peddled by social media.
