Captivating Historical Italian Adventure Becomes PS5 Console Exclusive to 'Deliver the Best Experience' 1

Italian indie studio Sedleo has cancelled its previously announced Xbox version of 1348 Ex Voto in order to “focus the studio’s efforts on delivering the best experience possible for PC and PlayStation”.

This means the game will now be a de facto PS5 console exclusive – sans any Sony money hats – as it targets the larger PlayStation install base with its narrative adventure.

The title – due out on 12th March – will depict the story of Aeta in late 14th-century Italy, as she searches for her closest accomplice, Bianca. The latter character will be played by award-winning actress Jennifer English, who fans will remember from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

The press release reads:

“Created by a team of seasoned indie developers, the game will see Aeta, a young knight-errant, encounter a series of trials on her path to knighthood and ultimate goal of saving Bianca. Along the way, she will face fanatical zealots, roaming bandits, and battle-hardened mercenaries – all against the backdrop of a virulent plague that threatens to tear apart an already fragile society.”

Watching the story trailer, the game reminds us of both A Plague Tale: Innocence and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – two clear influences here.

Two versions of the game will be available at launch: the Standard Edition (£21.99/$24.99) and the Deluxe Edition (£25.99/$29.99). The latter includes a digital art book, which you may want to own considering how gorgeous this game looks – although we appreciate digital art books don’t hit the same as physical ones.

Nevertheless, we’re intrigued by this release. The gameplay doesn’t necessarily look the best, but the story certainly appeals to us.
