It’ll be a great setting, you’ve got countryside, insane motorways and you could even do the whole canyon racing thing. I still maintain they should port Horizon 4 to PS5.

Every time I replay the first one I remember just how good it is. This doesn’t even have to do that much to be in the conversation of all-timers, literally just be more of the same with gameplay tweaks.

The next time I hear about this game will be the inevitable article about the servers being shut down.

As a genuine defender of the pacing of Sky FC in context of setting up Sky SC, I cannot fathom only playing the opening 6 hours of this game and being hyped to play more. I think it’s probably the slowest opening to a JRPG I can think of. Definitely longer than a Persona, it’s more Dragon Quest 7 levels of slow.

I must be the only person not overly keen on the graphics, the bloom seems to be set at 4 million. Besides, I like the old sprites! They’ve done a great job at translating the portraits to 3D models but they really aren’t as expressive as they could be.

Or you could play the game emulated and have access to better shaders and RetroAchievements. Trophies are really the only thing that Sony can push with these classic games, the emulation’s not as good as what you get on PC, and games like Resi have native PC ports with mod support too.

Pachter can be an idiot but it’s hard to argue with his comments about live service and Jim Ryan being a disaster. I think that we’re really seeing the effects of Ryan’s tenure now, with the bone dry offerings from Sony recently. Other than Ghost of Yotei, and at a stretch Lost Soul Aside, that’s really your lot until that Marvel fighting game next year.

There’s been quite literally 2 retail games from SIE this year, MLB and Death Stranding 2. MLB is digital only in the UK and Death Stranding 2 isn’t even made by a Sony studio. That’s mad compared even to the PS4 years. You can’t keep blaming the pandemic given the games that other studios have been releasing, I mean Nintendo have managed an entire console launch this year. Sony are printing money doing naff all, and so you’d expect them to realise that they don’t need to bother at all and people will still defend them.

Utterly outrageous to pretend that re-adding Spider-Man is some sort of coup. It was on PS Now, it was re-added to PS Plus and now this is the third time it’s been on this service. What a joke, not even Miles Morales has been added.

It’s difficult for me. I really just want a Skate game to piss about in, same as I’ve done for the last decade in Skate 3. But the artistic direction, the battle pass crap, the lack of things like the Hall of Meat and stuff, it screams EA barebones live service disaster. If it flops then they’ll say it’s because the series isn’t popular, not that they’ve squandered a perfect opportunity. I will be very happy if it turns out good but the feedback from fans… it’s not looking good.

I will say the soundtrack’s looking good though, all good artists they’ve teased, plus the alpha has Built to Spill on it and I’m very biased because I love them and saw them live a few years back.

Happy to have waited on this one with the clear issues I’ve seen from friends, the bugs and general unpolished nature etc. Hopefully by Christmas it’ll be a more rounded experience.

If ever a game was entirely AI generated, it’s this one. There’s a certain level of cliche along with thinking it’s smarter than it is, which reminds me a lot of that crowd. Modern engines do sort of make it too easy to make high fidelity garbage though.

I saw a vid of (former ONM scribe) Scully playing the arcade machine and it genuinely looks like great fun. I played Cruis’n for the N64 this year and thought it was really fun arcade racing. As opposed to Ridge Racer 64 which was crafted in the deepest trenches of hell.

Spider-Man literally came off the service not that long ago. This is so stupid, why take off first-party games then re-add them? Do they have that little options to include that they resort to this?

I haven’t played it in months. It’s great your first 2 or 3 games and then you realise every single game is the same. Not a good sign for longevity.

Don’t really get the hatred of this one, it’s Bennett Foddy and therefore guaranteed to be a good time. I guess it’s been a long time coming though and pops up in basically every State of Play.

@Nyne11Tyme I played Infinite at the time and it was utter dogsh*t. I played the first one a couple years back and it hasn’t aged very well. There are much better games that are older, so it’s not just that.

@Nyne11Tyme Plays very clunky, the plot is muddled. The setting is brilliant but the actual game is a complete chore.

Considering how fairly terrible I found the entire series, a watered down 2Kified game could be the worst game of all time.

Why even bother announcing it then? Realistically this will not release before the end of the decade.

I played Heretic a few months back (the N64 version) and thought that it hadn’t particularly aged well so maybe Nightdive QOL would help.

@SeaDaVie I don’t think you can judge current Sony management by historic success. Just look at the live service dreck they’ve been cooking up this generation.

I’m not entirely sure that PS Studios are going to be any better than Bungie’s current leadership. People that signed off on Concord at every stage of development are still working for Sony.

The comics are absolute dogsh*t. The characterisation in the Injustice comics is up there with Heroes in Crisis in terms of missing the mark, no matter how ‘alternate universe’ we’re talking here. Don’t even get me started on the fate of Nightwing. It’s a good way to do the whole DC fighting game thing without having obvious punches being pulled and such, and it suits the story mode of the games, but the comics are just so much worse than almost any DC fare.

My PS3 I’m pretty sure is finally dead. It’s a big fat piano black one too, but I get a yellow light blink when it turns on and then it just conks out after a few minutes flashing red as if it’s overheated. RIP. Very glad I have the specs to emulate that generation.

This genuinely will impact sales in the UK. Part of growing up is playing games that you probably shouldn’t, and that was down to my parents, not to a government agency to tell me what I can and cannot play. Truly embarrassing nanny state nonsense.
