Next month's Yakuza Kiwami 3 will almost certainly be a solid remake of the PS3 original when all is said and done, but some small issues and flaws are starting to attract the attention of its hardcore fanbase.

In the recently released demo, one street in particular has fans worried. The graphics look way too oversaturated, and it looks even worse when you compare them to the original game. Enlarge and compare the two images below:

What if we told you the screenshot on the left is the original game and the one on the right is the remake?

This is clearly just one example that's gone viral across social media, but those playing the demo highlight how this is an issue whenever you're in a shaded environment. The colours become overexposed, and you get the result above. This has been a problem affecting past Yakuza and Like a Dragon games, so fans are disappointed the issue hasn't been fixed.

As a result of this and other issues, the Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties demo on Steam has attracted "mostly negative" user reviews. There are also concerns surrounding the combat and the fact SEGA has recast character Goh Hamazaki for the game, and is now being played by Japanese actor Teruyuki Kagawa, using both his likeness and voice.

In 2022, Kagawa admitted to sexual misconduct following allegations of sexual harassment three years prior. Images from one of the incidents surfaced online, and a #REMOVEKAGAWA campaign was set up by fans to try and have the actor removed. SEGA has never acknowledged Kagawa's history or the fan campaign.

This, combined with fans dunking on its graphical drawbacks, has left Yakuza Kiwami 3 facing an uphill battle to win over some parts of the fanbase. It comes to PS5 and PS4 on 12th February 2026.
