Now that Ubisoft has enhanced a handful of Far Cry games on PS5, making them run at 60 frames-per-second, it is now reportedly turning its attention back to the Assassin's Creed franchise.
Insider Gaming leaker Tom Henderson shared on the outlet's weekly podcast that he believes the publisher will give old Assassin's Creed titles similar treatment. It was said on yesterday's episode of the podcast that Assassin's Creed Unity could be first.
Despite the comments from the Insider Gaming lead, Ubisoft has actually already updated a few older Assassin's Creed games with 60FPS support on PS5. Assassin's Creed Origins received a patch in 2022, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate got the same in 2024.
If the publisher provides 60FPS patches to even older Assassin's Creed games, though, then The Ezio Collection, III Remastered, Rogue Remastered, and the aforementioned Unity could be part of Ubisoft's plans. Of course, there are strong rumours that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is being handled separately with a full remake.
Earlier this week, Ubisoft provided Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal with 60FPS support on PS5.
Do these kinds of updates to older titles make you return to them for another playthrough? Tell us in the comments below.

What About the Original Assassins Creed will that one get updated to 😏
@Areus Its actually 60fps on Series consoles.
Unity is all want at 60fps as well as a bump in res as 900p is too low for a 4K screen.
If I'm not mistaken it's still 60 fps on Playstation if you use the disc version and don't update the game.
Oh, sick. Gives me a reason to go back for the DLC trophies
Maybe it's finally time to make Unity compatible with sleep mode on PS? It bothers me more than fps.
I love a good photomode. Stick that in please, ubi. Or are you laying off all the photomode devs? Of all the Assassin's Creed games unity would be the best for photomode
GHOST RECON WILDLANDS for god's sake
Id prefer a native ps5 upgrade but its still nice to see
Literally just reinstalled Unity as well. I just wish it would get a graphics update for PS5 due to the crowd quality popping in and out.
@DennisReynolds I was wondering why the resolution looked off when playing it. Doesn't seem like it'll be addressed though which is a bit of a shame.
I'd love a patch for GR Wildlands. Taking out sicarios even smoother than usual.
I payed Unity recently. Kind of pointless to go through all the trouble of updating the game when the suspension of disbelief is constantly being destroyed by brain dead NPCs popping in ten feet in front of you. Just like when Cyberpunk released, I would take 2/3s the set dressing NPCs for NPCs with a purpose.
...or just give me a post-apocalyptic mode where I can pretend that everyone is dead. Le sighhhh
Pretty cool of Ubi to do these 60fps updates, wish more developers would do the same.
Unity is so good going back to it after it’s been fixed. I wish I stuck with it back in the day because in some ways it’s the pinnacle of the series. In others it absolutely is not 😂
The Ezio Collection could use a 60fps patch. I played through some of it, but playing games at 30fps on PS5 Pro doesn't click with me.
I could always hook up the PS4 Pro or remote play it to my Steam Deck OLED (used to playing games at 30fps on those platforms), but I'd prefer the better performance.
Am I the only one who finds it interesting that this sudden flurry of 60fps upgrades comes at a time when Ubisoft’s stock is in the toilet and projects are being canceled left and right?
Hmm…
If Unity gets a 60fps patch AND a resolution bump, I’ll be happy 😃
@dskatter yes you are. Ubisoft have been updating their games for a few years now when they can.
@Nepp67 On a 1080p screen it doesn't look that bad but on a 4K screen the 900p and 30fps really do bring it down. Shame because visually its one of the best looking games in the series. The gorgeous baked in lighting, use of colour and insane crowds really do make it stand out and hold its own even against modern entries.
Very much appreciated. Really appreciate Ubisoft doing this for some of their legacy titles. Unity is amazing I'd absolutely play that again at 60fps.
@dskatter They have been doing this since the start of the gen. Odyssey got a 60fps patch within the first year i think. Origins and Far Cry 5 also got one a few years back. Its been slow and drip fed but Ubi have been pretty consistent with it.
@Northern_munkey Three Far Cry games getting updated all at once with more AC games coming soon(TM) is unprecedented, though. They’ve been doing them one at a time in dribs and drabs.
If all three FC games used the same engine though, it could make sense.
That said, I’m glad to see it whatever the reason. These games are so much better than recent Ubi fare.
Unity needs it. It was supposed to be 1080p 60fps but ended up 900p 20fps.
Now, do Ghost Recon Wildlands, please and thank you.. 🙏
@dskatter I'll agree that the reason is a moot point and it's good to see they are giving the gamers what they want from the games. If only other major devs would do the same (pointing the finger at you fromsoft) but I don't see this as some cynical ploy from ubisoft as they've said in the past that they will update their titles as and when it's possible. I see this as a dev who just happens to have the time and resources available and not as a dev who's in the quagmire.
@Northern_munkey The timing of the Ubisoft stock plunge and game cancellations with this just gets my brain a-jogging. I’m weird that way!
As far as From goes… glares at Bloodborne, amazed that From/Sony just refuses to do a 60fps patch
Give it to me baby!
@Midnyte-Monkey This is one of the most requested titles for a 60fps patch from Ubisoft - surely it must be on the cards 🤔
For all the other criticisms of Ubisoft I LOVE how supportive they are of many of their older games. Credit where it's due. Thanks
I'd be happy with Ac Ezio collection and 3 getting a 60 fps boost gives me a reason too replay them 🤞
Now I did enjoy the recreation of French Revolution Paris so I'm very happy it's getting the 60fps update at last.
However!!
Whoever decided it would be a good idea to voice the Paris NPCs with Cockney accents should be made to face Madame Guillotine!!
i miss AC multiplayer
Unity needs some love. Hugely under rated game.
The game got panned as it was designed around hardware that wouldn't exist for 7 years and ran like garbage as a result (granted that's the norm for most new games these days) and in my view does some things better than any of the modern games.
The resolution does need a boost, but top tip - it looks great on Portal with the smaller, lower resolution screen.
@themightyant They have nothing else better to do since most games have been cancelled and they probably don't have much money right now with the loss
Totally. If it will be 4K/60fps. I will replay Unity with a big pleasure.
The upgrade to far cry new dawn I played on series x and PS5 and Pro.
There was only one machine that did it top justice the Pro. Quality of picture and zero shimmer and pixel crawl, absolutely perfect.
The other two looked better than the old consoles of course but had some shimmer and pixel crawl in complex bushes and trees at midrange when panning, even at 60FPS, same with ACS on Pro with PSSR the best picture quality.
I hate ubisoft but i love this. I really hope every game gets a 60fps patch and we desperately need an ac1 port/remaster/remake on ps5
@dschons Same with The Last Guardian... too bad there's multiple game-breaking bugs without updating. Playing TLG at 60fps is a much bigger upgrade than I honestly would have expected. Feels a good deal more responsive.
@DennisReynolds I want them all at 60 fps. Not that I have time to play them anyway.
@Nightcrawler71 oh man, id love that! 100% it way back on Xbox and would love to do it again. Just bought the dlc on sale this past week too! Haha. Fingers crossed!!
@Nakatomi_Uk They've been doing this for years though, it isn't new. Though yes they may have a bit more time right now!
As much as Ubisoft is hated on this is very nice of them to do and can change the experience to be even more positive and fun. If only Nintendo did this for free...
