Re: The End of an Era: Sony Spins Off Iconic Television Business

nessisonett

Genuinely crazy. My Bravia from 2007 lasted about 13 years, they’re very good TVs or at least were back then. Always wanted a Sony CRT too. As long as the quality is consistent then I get where they’re going with this, partnering with a Chinese firm makes manufacturing so much easier. Sony branding still being on the tellies makes quality key too, as blowback will be on them, not TCL.

Re: GTA 6 Dev Rockstar North Cordoned Off After Reported Explosion

@ZeroE Don’t see it happening through our own efforts, only if Hearts completely collapse. The squad is just not good and they aren’t even trying to sign players worth a sniff. With Rangers getting Skov Olsen and Rohl looking like a decent manager, I think it’s more likely they snatch the season if Hearts slip.

Re: Here's Your First Look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft for Amazon's TV Show

@IkeCrane PWB has a single writing credit on a franchise, No Time To Die, where she did a rewrite at the request of Daniel Craig. She was completely uncredited for both Solo and Indiana Jones on the writing front as I assume she had input with her own characters but they were written by other people. Those three movies also share the distinction of being a mess behind the scenes before she was even involved. I’m not her biggest fan because she’s a tax dodging aristocrat but this level of hatred towards her actual writing works reeks of Gamergate.

Re: Amazon's God of War TV Series Casts Its Kratos, Story Setup Revealed

nessisonett

@graymamba This guy is just as ethnically Greek as African Americans are. As in he isn’t Greek. It’s a weird choice, Kratos has literally only been portrayed by a black man.

@Gunbeld Didn’t watch it. Looked rubbish and devoid of creativity like literally all other Disney live action remakes. Plus that was years ago, who gives a crap?

Re: Sony, Xbox, Nintendo Publish Shared Statement on Player Safety in Games

There’s so many entry points for nonces. Kids are online from a young age and while I absolutely do not support the complete ban on under 18s using these services, parent accounts should be given more controls than they are. It’s up to the parents to be responsible and schools should be having lessons on online safety that are kept up to date.

Re: Sony Removes Resident Evil Copy Ebola Village Trailer from YouTube

@naruball You’re being disingenuous. Ebola is a disease that is currently killing people right this second. WW2 was over 80 years ago, and even then they whitewash it in games and it’s very broad strokes. I cannot imagine having such little empathy for the plight of dying African children that I’m trying to score internet points.

Re: Life Is Strange Reunion Pairs Max with Chloe Once More on PS5

nessisonett

If the series has even lost my lesbian best mate who was a teenager when the first game released, you know it’s truly time to put it out to pasture. The series lost its legs when they abandoned the anthology concept, there’s no way they can continue for long going over the same Max/Chloe nonsense for eternity.

Re: Amazon's Tomb Raider TV Show Reveals Completely New Characters and Castings

@Dogbreath @DartLOD My issue with PWB is that she’s a mega posho whose parents are literally named in the Paradise Papers but generally speaking everything she’s worked on has been pretty well received. She’s not done that much, Fleabag and the first season of Killing Eve (Before more insufferable mega posho Emerald Fennell ruined it) are great and I can’t exactly blame her for Indiana Jones 5 and No Time To Die when she wasn’t a main writer. The Amazon deal has been a lot of her sitting around doing nothing so this even heading to series is a surprise. What has she actually written to make either of you have that kind of reaction to her work?

Re: 'I Don't Think Prompting Is Art': The Last of Us Co-Creator Isn't a Fan of Generative AI

nessisonett

Anyone who peddles gen AI is missing the spark in their heart that makes them a real human. It’s a sign of true sociopathy and arrogance to think that an aggregator can mimic human creativity. I’m not a particularly religious person but humanity (and some other animals) has a unique element and that’s the ability to dream and to create. Gen AI does not have aspirations, it does not love, it does not hate, it does not have any real intentions behind anything it does. Ask yourself if you’d rather look at a drawing your child has made for you or a cartoon knock-off of the Mona Lisa. It’s not about fidelity and it never has been, it’s about the heart behind the art. If you can’t see that then you’re beyond help.
