I’m not sure I can even resubscribe to PS Plus after the price increase. It’s the one purchase a year for the PS5, and the only way I play new games. If I’m priced out of that too then any chance of remaining in the PS ecosystem is very low.

@Herculean That’s absolutely correct, all research points to the younger generation being the most opposed to AI usage. It’s those over 40 who are the most open/least likely to care. That’s why I have faith that it’s all going to collapse. That and the fact that any profit pipelines are dubious at best and that the entire industry is a deck of cards being held up by fraudulent investment.

6’s scope is far greater than 7. And I like both equally. 6 just has a mad plot across so many varied areas that I don’t think you could cover them all with modern graphics in one game.

@PegasusActual93 Good luck finding any truly indie game of any quality. I expect the next wave of ‘indie’ games to be a Dave The Diver situation where they pretend they’re indie and have a massive publisher as that’s the only way to rise above the crap.

This looks truly bad, considering last year they were saying they were listening to fans and then ended up with an atrocious game by the end. It’s like they decided they’re just doing their own thing and we all know it’s going to be rubbish but who cares because people will buy it. It’s ok though, they’ve added incredible ‘legends of football’ like Akinfenwa and Fellaini to the game, before adding rather a lot of frankly better footballers to the game.

The art style still sort of annoys me. It’s not stylised at all, Wolverine’s just a bloke.

We’ve entered a new wave of Engineslop. Games where you can practically pick out the default elements and identify the assets clearly purchased from other sources. Combine that with vibecoding and indie gaming is dead, it’ll be incredibly difficult to find quality when faced with the sheer volume of releases.

I tried Luna out of curiosity and the input lag was the issue for me. Streaming has potential but it’s just not viable yet. Although I did beat quite a few games on PS Now through streaming, mostly PS3 ones.

@get2sammyb The issue is that social media means we see these people modelling and doing press and posting pics all the time. Getting Davids, Giggs and Roberto Carlos in a room together for a photo shoot and opening movie for FIFA 2003 was a novelty. It’s not so special anymore and also the athlete isn’t as baked into the identity of the game with sports games pretty much ditching opening movies to allow you to access your gambling mode quicker.

It’s remarkable how quickly RPCS3 has advanced in recent years. I’ve not ran into major problems with games in a good while now, even got Rock Band working with a guitar. I was gutted when my PS3 started yellow lighting last year but at least I can sort of replace it on PC.

It’s been a build up of terrible decisions and this is where it’s come to a head. The issue now is that you’ll have the contrarians coming out to defend Sony solely on the basis that they find the complaints annoying.

@Mr-Cage Empathy costs nothing. Games are pretty much the only thing keeping me sane since being laid off in an adjacent sector, so seeing the people working hard to make those games also being laid off is incredibly sad. It’s not difficult to have human emotions.

@Dogbreath I need to play Liberation, I only have that and Unity’s plats left to go minus the newest two games. I remember starting it after finishing 3 and then getting distracted by playing Black Flag instead.

@Nexozi Not at all, people want to make the most of their PS5 while knowing that the future of PS is bleak. At this rate we’ll have games coming out on PS4, 5 and 6.

Providing tools to fans will always be the best option. It’s amazing how much fun you can still have across Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox with fans having revived the online support.

It’s a shame it’s not really my thing, I love their Sherlock Holmes games, jank and all.

Sort of abysmal not including the DLC but i’m guessing it’s to maintain parity with Xbox, which already had them with BC and so you had to buy the DLC. Would like to see these hit PS Plus at some point.

I dunno, it’s a bit of a weird decision. It’s not inherently homophobic to have a homophobic character especially since he’s shown to be wrong pretty much in every way and learns from his mistakes. The pervy stuff makes sense because they’re high schoolers and he’s an immature idiot. What really should be changed is the sheer amount of fat jokes and the way the game itself makes fun of Hanako, that’s aged far worse.

Not to sound mean but I regretted even spending like £20 on the first one. Here’s hoping this is far less barebones.

@shoeses Oh yeah, I have that Transformers Devastation from PS Plus, my first ever month with it. Think I got that and the Resident Evil 1 remake, pretty decent month back when I had practically zero games.

Horrible horrible news. Surprised they’re returning to being independent studios which is a big silver lining but regardless this is devastating. Things are just awful out there, I was laid off right before Christmas last year and still there’s nothing. It’s beyond disheartening.

Fighting games are enormous in the developing world, which this disproportionately affects. Get it sorted Sony.

Genuinely will be more popular than the new games. Those two are classics. And the old zombies on new consoles will be a big deal, even despite the fact most of those maps have been remastered.

I struggle to think of those in the shareholder class as humans.

People are stupid. It’ll sell. But the specs arms race is over, the only paths forward are crappy AI-driven upscaling tech or prohibitively expensive consoles. My prediction is that we’ll see streaming take over next generation. Which of course means more and more data centre space needed, which means they’re competing with AI firms for that as well as RAM, which means a humungous subscription price hike.

The Xbox fans are the ones that are hating on this remake so tbh, the PS fans should be the ones they’re aiming for. Give people who’ve never played a Halo game an entry point into the Xbox ecosystem.
