The originals should really be on modern consoles. Totally worth playing. Although to be fair I played the Evo versions so technically I haven’t played the original originals. Cannot fathom playing them without speed up.

@Balaam_ I got the platinum last month. The single player section is entirely separate and can be done in single player, you just have to find the whales and convoys and don’t have to bother with the online elements. The multiplayer trophies were a huge grind but also almost all doable in private lobbies solo.

They should have ported 4 too. Adore that game.

God that first season was wretched. I don’t get what the point of adapting something is if you’re going to fundamentally change massive parts of the story.

Those reviews make me miss the old magazines. Genuine well-written criticism is an art and it’s a crying shame that they’ve been drummed out of games journalism by the same couple of companies owning every major site and prioritising ‘content’ over quality. You look at the actually interesting criticism that movies and music get and then you look at games reviews and it’s no wonder that it’s seen as a lesser art form.

@captainsandman It was definitely implied across this site at the time. The PS4 Pro was checkerboard 4K so it was pretty much seen as a lock-on that the PS5 would be true 4K at 60FPS in most cases. While it absolutely has been a mixed bag. I don’t mind 40FPS though, used that for Spider-Man 2 recently.

@8thDoctor The sad thing is that I genuinely think the Ezio tailing missions were pretty good because those maps had such well-designed rooftops that made tailing people more of a parkour challenge than anything else. By the time of AC3 and later, they emphasised hiding in undergrowth which sort of undermined the entire ‘social stealth’ aspect.

@8thDoctor They need to just straight up remove ship tailing missions. Those are the worst missions in the entire franchise.

I’m still a bit confused by it all. Assassin’s Creed literally has a perfect narrative reason for remakes built into it but I gather this cuts out all the modern day stuff? And the original game outside of the pirate stuff was still the OG formula with decent-ish stealth action across Havana and Kingston and stuff. So I hope that it doesn’t just feel like the open world games.

Bad times here in the UK. Plus all this data is being handed over to Palantir. It says a lot when the guy who really kickstarted all of this - his daughter having killed herself after social media algorithms were feeding into her mental health struggles - is against how hardline the government has become. Also this was passed under the Tories too so it’s pretty much a stitch up by all parties.

I’m a huge fan of weather systems in games. Especially if they impact gameplay. Still need to get to Shadows, only the Unity and Mirage platinums left to go.

I started Spider-Man 2 today and the writing is pretty similar to the original and Miles Morales. Peak Woke 1 and therefore cringy but largely harmless.

@Bramble Those games weren’t multiplayer. Newgrounds was rife with nonces but they didn’t have ease of access like they do with Roblox.

Spoiler - Bond kills the villain at the end (probably a former mentor) with a quip following his death. He then shags the girl. The end.

Genuinely thought Exodus was a beautiful ending for the series but I would never say no to more. Exodus was a bit of a technical mess when I played it but it really resonated with me in every other way. 2033 is a classic too, only Last Light was a little bit of a disappointment for me.

I’d love to bring myself to care but I look at what we’re doing to the Earth and to other humans and it leaves a bad taste. This planet is literally the only place in the entirety of the basically infinite universe that is home. Until we sort out ourselves then I have no interest in colonising other planets.

It’s a complete mess. I even quite like how the game plays, there’s just nothing to do. Thankfully mods on PC keep the series alive, even if most of them are paid.
