Yakuza Kiwami 3 PS5 PS4 1

RGG Studio will have a PS5, PS4 update ready for the launch day of Yakuza Kiwami 3 to fix the graphical flaws and bugs that have been going viral across social media for the past week.

A social media post from the developer confirms that version 1.11 — which will be available for launch on 12th February 2026 — will "address the lighting issue and other quality concerns in the full game".

One example of the lighting problem specifically has gone viral, as fans playing the new PS5, PS4 demo have compared a particular street with what's in the original. As seen in the images below, the PS3 original is on the left while Yakuza Kiwami 3 is on the right:

This update will address the complaint: "One specific example is the visual and lighting issues around the Kubochi River area in the Downtown Ryukyu area, which many of you have already pointed out," the post reveals.

The team elsewhere states "the graphical quality of the demo does not represent the final experience", and the full, final version of the game arrives on release day.

As a result of the visual glitches and the situation surrounding the recasting of in-game character Goh Hamazaki to be played by Teruyuki Kagawa, the PC demo on Steam attracted "mostly negative" user reviews.

In 2022, Kagawa admitted to sexual misconduct following allegations of sexual harassment three years prior. Images from one of the incidents surfaced online, and a #REMOVEKAGAWA campaign was set up by fans to try and have the actor removed. SEGA has never acknowledged Kagawa's history or the fan campaign.
