The fact a 4 year old game is still one of the most graphically intensive games on the system speaks more to the general disaster of this gen than anything. We’re at the point in the PS5’s lifespan where 2019 was for the PS4. Resident Evil 2 and Death Stranding came out that year and were massively ahead of the PS4’s launch titles. I wouldn’t say that games this year are that noticeably more impressive looking than Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls
@kmtrain83 All I can recommend is that you tell him to take classes in another field and hope he can switch his degree. I graduated in Computing Science in 2022 and the industry is completely dead. Especially so for those just starting out. And in the States you can find graphs that show the jobs have cratered in the industry. Good luck to him but this is not a stable industry and newer graduates are the first group to be thrown off the bus.
@CielloArc On the flip side, you’re so so much safer writing down literally all your passwords and bank info on a bit of paper in your house than ever letting any of it be saved onto a server. For years they told us to never write it down blah blah but if someone breaks into your house then they’re not going to spend the time typing your passwords into anything, they’ll nick the computer and sell it for parts.
@Balosi It’ll take more manpower than you think. Vibe coding is going to make the shovelware problem a million times worse in the coming months and if they’re all getting submitted for approval then Sony will have a crazy backlog where actually worthwhile games are falling through the cracks. The only solutions are either limiting dev kits and licenses which will screw over first-time devs and super small teams, or putting together a larger approval team to tackle the backlog which will obviously cost a lot. And be the most boring job in the world.
@LogicStrikesAgain I got a cheap PSVR1 a few years back and I did connect it to the PC but I found it had pretty mixed results. Plus that headset made me super ill, I’ve heard the PSVR2 is a lot better for that. And I really want to play the Assassin’s Creed VR game but apparently that’s exclusive to Meta headsets or something.
Generally, an open storefront was an admirable idea and encouraged loads of indie devs. It’s been ruined by shovelware, specifically the AI riddled lot. I don’t see any way to run the PS Store without strict moderation these days.
@Spookles It’s almost £400 just for the headset and then the actual games on top of that are another couple hundred quid. I just don’t see that happening.
The sort of thing I’d love to try but there’s no way I’d ever have the money to get. I get why PSVR2 is that expensive, it’s honestly cheap compared to some of the headsets out there, but it’s still pretty crazy considering how small the library really is.
I thought PGA Tour was an absolutely gorgeous game and the gameplay was pretty good but the progression was woeful. It shouldn’t be that hard to make a game better than Tiger Woods 2004!
@get2sammyb Worth a mention that the day 1 patch apparently added a fast travel point inside the main town that wasn’t there beforehand, which a lot of the reviewers have said would have cut around 3-4 hours off their playtime 😂
@belmont Sins Past is awful but I don’t think One More Day is entirely his fault given editorial’s influence. I just really liked the status quo in that run more than the ‘big’ storylines, loved Peter as a teacher too. Plus the other titles around that time were brilliant, Knights and Spectacular were just as good as Amazing during that time period and I love Jenkins’ PP:SM run. Mind you, I absolutely loved the post-Clone Saga Ben Reilly run so maybe my tastes are strange 😂
It’s common sense. Besides, anyone with the lack of creativity to actually use these slop machines can’t even get interesting results out of them… because they lack the creativity to do anything with them. Anybody who could theoretically use GenAI to make something worthwhile is vehemently opposed to the very idea of it.
@HRdepartment You’d think it had killed somebody’s pet or something, the way that people are so desperate to hate on it. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
For a game that everyone ‘glazes’, all I see is people ripping into it while saying that everyone is glazing it. The power of extreme polarisation being peddled by social media.
As always, the issue is shareholders and chasing a golden goose. Making a game that is good should be the most important thing but games that are good don’t always make a profit. And even making a profit isn’t enough for shareholders, they want long-term returns and that’s why we end up with battle passes and live service guff.
I kinda fell off Borderlands 3 like 80% of the way through it after platinuming 2 and TPS. Probably a good idea waiting for this to be fully done before grabbing it cheap too, I’d rather have a choice of all the Vault Hunters.
With Marvel Rivals having the world’s most boring stall heal meta, I wouldn’t be shocked if people went back to Overwatch. I’m not sure I could go back, I played a ridiculous amount of it before they sort of destroyed it. The downside of free-to-play is that the stakes are lower for people too, they can just make a new account if they’re banned. I had some of the worst abuse I’ve ever suffered in a game and they were bragging over comms that there was no point reporting them cause they’d just make a new account.
It’s a good idea. If a game allows a child to spend additional money with minimal safeguards then it really isn’t suitable for 3 year olds. At that point you might as well just let your kid loose on eBay.
@Leetware1 He says himself that it’s more about having the AI protections that the unions fought for. An individually negotiated contract would make it a lot harder for him to protect himself from those situations than having the might of a union that was on strike for 11 months to fight for these protections.
Good. He’s taking a stand which is the right thing to do. Workers fought for their rights for generations to get to this point and we are stronger together.
Fully back this lawsuit, we used to be able to buy download codes from other sites which meant you weren’t fully tied to Sony prices. Plus, digital games should be cheaper as there are no manufacturing costs.
It’s remarkable how these megacorps can make record profits while ordinary people are struggling to pay bills, and yet they still just have to increase prices.
@NorrinRadd I really loved the game on a revisit. But it was that broken. Completely and utterly broken. Cyberpunk rightly got clowned on for the same thing.
@HRdepartment Seems like all you get now are the boozy arcades with £15 cocktails and vaguely irritating staff members. Even then, all they’ll have is a couple of repro cabinets and a Stern pinball machine. The best bit about going to the cinema with my high school was that the place they chose had a proper arcade included with Mario Kart Arcade, DDR, Time Crisis, a pool table and then some Jurassic Park thing under a curtain that looked terrifying. There just isn’t the infrastructure in the UK for arcades these days.
The ragdoll physics look absolutely hysterical, I actually fancy this one but on deep discount.
Funnily enough it was Ben who got me back into wrestling thanks to the Triple Jump streams of that mental Here Comes The Pain roster with legends like Billy Ray Walrus and Neil Buchanan.

Adding a battle pass this many years after release is mad. Guess they need the money.
