Re: Keep an Eye on ENDS, a GTA-Inspired Sandbox RPG Set in London

@Brundleflies21 You’d think that Rockstar being from Scotland, it would be a slam dunk to do a game based on the gang violence in Glasgow. It’s gotten a lot worse the last couple years too, with the two big families openly murdering each other. A couple buildings got torched near mine and they still bring up bloody Gerbil getting shot in the local Asda car park. There’s plenty material anyway.

@Mr_Singh The dev video here is very interesting, seems to be a young team with a lot of passion so I reckon it’ll be rough and janky but with proper heart behind it. I love The Getaway’s world building but the actual gameplay is borderline unplayable at times, I’d kill for a remake still set in the same time period because London is just generally a very different place now and this game’s setting is far more realistic than going down the East End gangster Phil Mitchell route. The frustrating thing is that any remake of The Getaway would have to get rid of all the branded shops they mapped out through the satellite scans, I very much doubt they’d be allowed to do up shops looking like defunct companies.

Sort of mad to see Atari making purchases when they were in the gutter not too long ago. That being said, I’ve really enjoyed their more recent revivals of retro properties and especially Atari 50. Digital Eclipse and Nightdive are two of the best teams out there if you’re a retro fan so they’ve made some shrewd investments.

Re: UK Citizens Using Death Stranding 2 on PS5 to Bypass Porn Blocks

@Nakatomi_Uk We’ll see how quickly it comes crashing down when the first blackmail scam rolls out copying the government face scan branding, only to then use the data received to send you messages like “I KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND YOUR PORN HABITS” while using an image of your face and passport. I can guarantee several MPs will be caught out by a scam like that. I’m not so convinced by the cheap shot at migrants however, given that if they’re being housed by the government then they absolutely will have had their faces scanned and processed against multiple databases to check for terror links and such (or controversial political links), if anything they have it worse since they’re not allowed to work and the government have just pressured gig economy employers to snitch on employees they suspect of being migrants that aren’t permitted to work.

Already signed the petition to repeal it. Yet another ‘save the kids’ bill that restricts freedoms, censors LGBTQ+ communities and opens up laughable risks of data leaks by sending 3D scans of your face off to American companies. Kids will very quickly get wise to this, they’ll always find ways of accessing stuff they shouldn’t, the only issue is that the sort of sites they’ll be pushed towards are far more likely to be hosting violent porn or even darker stuff. This is what happens when the average age of those in the Commons is above 50, it doesn’t even bloody work and you can just scan Sam Bridges.

Re: Expedition 33 Devs 'Exchange Ideas' with Final Fantasy Team

@Lowdefal This is very true. Also the vitriolic attitudes towards Japanese games in the mid to late 00s from certain games media figures meant that a lot of the big devs went with more Western inspired designs in the PS3 era which sucked all the identity out of big franchises. They’re still a bit lost brand wise and that’s the worst place to be, I think that XIII, XV and XVI were all unfocused in their own way and a sign that Squeenix don’t really know what Final Fantasy is anymore.
