Re: PES 2019 Adds Eight More Fully Licensed Leagues to Its Roster

dellyrascal

Played both of this year's iterations and PES played better and had by far the better AI, but alas it became a chore with things like Master League becoming boring and online connectivity not being as smooth, despite supposedly fixing it.

FIFA was enjoyable for me by virtue of more people I know were playing it, but cheap goals, poor tactical options and other issues also show it needs to improve too.

Both need to improve in many aspects, so it's good that PES sales have picked up, even if its just to keep EA on its toes a little... The worst kind of football franchise is one that stagnates and doesnt bother to improve.

It would be nice however to put the onus on attackers to make goals in these games, rather than neuter the defending options, as they have done down the years.. Something i've noticed for quite a long time now.

Re: Almost Half of All PS4 Software Now Purchased Digitally

dellyrascal

Not been so bothered either way, since leaving the previous to last generation in all honesty, certainly not from a keepsake / collectable point of view anyway.

I say that, but I think it varies depending on age group as well.. To me at 42 years of age, classics are from my Megadrive / Master System days, so as great as games have been over the recent generations, i'm unlikely to go back to them and I havnt so far in the last two generations.

The last "old" console I own is the dreamcast, so i'm not competely averse to keeping consoles and games, but in terms of the current gens, i have enough to play on my ps4, without going back to older games

Re: Gran Turismo Sport Patch 1.23 Adds Cars, a Track, Microtransactions

dellyrascal

Had it since release and I dont particularly see this as a major issue.

Cars over a certain value are off limits with the MT's, also considering that most online races are set to a "BoP" to level the playing field, the purchase of a car by someone else wont make a difference when racing other players.

I'm not a fan of MT's, however i dont see this one as a problem, as the "pay to win" potential does not exist, you simply cant buy your way to victory in a race online, while the offline races are easy to win anyway.

Polyphony have arguably intergrated it as harmlessly as possible , although it does make you wonder whats potentially to come in their next GT game, whenever that will be....

Re: Latest Far Cry 5 Update Brings Photo Mode to Hope County

dellyrascal

@Turismo4GT - To be fair, its okay, but hasnt grabbed me like the previous games. If you have played them before, there is a little too much familiarity.

I say that, but i did go on and complete the game, but it did become a little bit of a chore towards the end.... I do hope you get a bit more out of it than i did though.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Photo Mode?

dellyrascal

A nice addition for those that want it.

Although I dont see the point of updating a game with a photo mode months after release, see Far Cry 5 for instance , it does smack of companies looking to use it as a way of garnering a second wind of attention, but thats just my cynical side.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Does Cross-Play Matter to You?

dellyrascal

Gaming for 37 years or so and must admit, i've never had any interest in the whole crossplay thing... Be nice to let others have access but understandable why Sony are not interested.

When the next generation comes, it will revert back to type anyway. Besides the only reason this is news is by virtue of it being Fortnite...

As for the locking thing, thats at Epic's door, but they are too busy rolling in VBucks cash to give a monkeys...

Re: Guide: Why Doesn't Sony Allow Cross-Play on PS4?

dellyrascal

If the floodgates (as mentioned) were to open, would it give the software houses a license to really push a service driven model and change the financial dynamic on console?... Would that power shift be a good thing?

I guess only time will tell..

I'm not sure how i feel about the whole situation, as on one hand it plainly see's players losing out in certain ways, but at the same time, I can see why Sony would want to protect its business in such a way..

Unfortunately loosely cobbled statements that dont directly address the situation, dont help, but then thats how big business rolls.. At this juncture, the massive install base is unlikely to jump ship, but they do need to be a litle careful in the future.

Re: Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition Rated for PS4 in Korea

dellyrascal

Have to agree with @BAMozzy here, picked up the Handsome Jack collection having enjoyed the first two games in the last generation and as good as the game is, it has aged badly.

The gunplay mechanics are and always will be fine, but the constant busy work and fetch quests are quite a chore after a while, but i guess thats just how these things go, rose tinted nostagia doesnt always live up to the memory .

Still as much as this sounds like me putting it down, for those who have never had the pleasure, i'm sure there will be plenty of enjoyment from the experience, but to be honest, as others have said, give me Borderlands 3, with some remodernisation and i'll be happy.

Either way, dont bugger it up GearBox!

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Ditches Traditional Campaign Mode

dellyrascal

I think the other concern here will be how will they justify the yearly cycle?

The likes of PUBG, Fortnight BR and Overwatch are/will be games that will/have grown over a couple of years and are developed accordingly, without a single player specifically with it, even Fortnight: Save the World is a seperate entity by all intents and purposes.

I dont see Activision allowing this to happen, so a yearly update looks to continue or at best a two year cycle seems unlikely given Acti's track record, so i imagine they will champion the "return of single player campaign" in the next year or so...

Overall, I cant say i'm surprised, Acti / EA et al, love chasing the cash cow and milking its golden teets dry with a typical feast and famine approach, but as I dont play COD or BF, i just hope those that do, dont get screwed by this change.

Re: Review: Conan Exiles (PS4)

dellyrascal

Plays very well, some bugs can ruin the experience, but overall this can only improve. Can see the engine needs a little more optimisation but the draw distance helps to immerse you. Building and crafting is some of the best i've seen, even if it can be overwhelming at the beginning.

Re: Tennis World Tour Pits McEnroe Against Agassi

dellyrascal

Yeah as oversights go, having Mc as a righty is poor... And it does matter, especially for sports games, whether tennis or golf and even football (with feet obiously)

Anyhoo, dont like that card system or whatever it is thats in the video

Re: Review: Super Mega Baseball 2 (PS4)

dellyrascal

@MaccaMUFC No its not available that way unfortunately.

The games pretty good and a marked improvement over the original. The amount of customization is cool and the gameplay is a lot better.

I think the only problem here is price tag, I picked up the original for peanuts but dived in early on this as i like the devs but I can see why £29.99 would put plenty off...

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer Loses UEFA Champions League

dellyrascal

I own the latest PES and it is a very good game in the actual football sense, but its lack of production values do neuter it badly in the eyes of the general populous.

As mentioned above, the community is fantastic and I have everything to hand in terms of official logos for tourneys and teams, however this is going to hurt them bad.

Re: Guide: The Best PS4 Racing Games

dellyrascal

Driveclub was fantastic and benefitted from the extra content, however now GTSport has finally become a more fully formed game as a whole, this is miles ahead in all manner of ways...

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on EA These Days?

dellyrascal

I can see them (maybe) looking to rebuild goodwill over the course of the next year or so, but if they are making money, hand over fist, regardless of the complaints, why would they stop and change unless it hurts them in the pocket?

I wouldnt even say it's EA in particular that can be singled out for this attitude, gaming as a whole, (barring a few exceptions) is able to perform what we consider shady practices, yet still make shed loads of money, so a vast sea change is needed, but with yearly iterations selling like hot cakes and Microtransactions also still popular (see FUT), the status quo will continue.

As for games, they have ruined a fair few franchises trying to incorporate the entire menu, rather than incoporate select dishes and it's undermined many of them unfortunately. They will still take the odd punt on a new franchise or reboot, but rather than eating companies, they should just back them and let them do thier thing, EA many many years ago , used to be good at that..

Re: SEGA Genesis Collection Turns Back Time in May on PS4

dellyrascal

Despite it's age, couldnt Sega redo Vitua Racing in PSVR among other games... Be cool

Anyhoo on topic: would love the old Super Monaco GP, PGA Tour Golf, Sensible Soccer but imagine licenses would be a problem...

Dust off Streets OF Rage 2 every now and again, stick the cheats on and play maniac mode... proper test that was!

Re: PSone Racing Franchise V-Rally Returns in September

dellyrascal

@get2sammyb ya right was always multi-format, had it on Dreamcast...

Was also the first time i realised i had the generic game face, as one of the two co-pilots looked like me...

Looking forward to this, if it can give the same sense of fun with plenty of content, i'll be pleased

Re: The Golf Club 2019 Swings by on PS4 This Year

dellyrascal

@Nakatomi_Uk Not THAT old... unless ya remember Birdie Barrage on Dragon 32. LOL

The PGA Series on the Megadrive was superb for its time though, 3 was such a leap forward graphically from 2 as well. Since then, not many golf games have felt quite as good as this and i sometmes go back to it for a quick round or four.

Re: Hello Neighbor Sneaks Onto PS4 This Summer

dellyrascal

its a nice idea, but the over exposure on Youtube, along with what is mentioned above by @Rudy_Manchego - in terms of difficulty and no real risk / reward, makes his a miss for me too.....

Whoops tagged wrong person.... sorry, meant @FullbringIchigo

Re: Super Seducer Won't Be Releasing On PS4 After All

dellyrascal

I would actually like to hear the reasons why. Although i think the "we are Curating" will be the end result/cop out on an official line..

I couldnt give a rats c**k for the game itself as it looks to be pointless drivel "created" by an utter bellend of a human being.

Hopefully the staff that worked on it got paid already and he, himself makes no money from what is in essence "snake oil"

Re: Forced PlayStation Now Ad Causes a Stir on PS4

dellyrascal

@General_Spiller - Nice Manics reference there...

Anyhoo...Not THAT big an issue but surely this is what the store is for?

Even when you highlight a game and push "down" to see more info, there can be the odd ad there, from the same company, promoting another IP. Thats seems quite reasonable.

I;m assuming they are just seeing what the reaction is by promoting something of their own... Can see why some may be annoyed but personally, cant say im fussed...

Re: Dynasty Warriors 9 Is the 'Worst Performing Game' on PS4 Pro

dellyrascal

Sure this is likely to be rectified with patches, but anything below 30fps needs to be pointed out to people looking to purchase a game..

Some games can get away with it just, but an action orientated game like this... no, and simply consumers should be informed..

To be honest, optimisation this day and age, shouldnt be a problem... but its the "get it out there and patch it later" mentality that doesnt help
