Re: Court Rules £5 Billion Lawsuit Against Sony Can Go Ahead, Following Years of 'Excessive' PS Store Prices

dellyrascal

"it's costing millions who can't afford it"

I would understand this argument, if important things such as electricity, gas (both high due to poor UK government pricing controls) and other bills were targeted here, but not for what is in essence a luxury, non essential product.

I concur that digital pricing is ridiculous and something needs to change, but this argument makes little sense and is weak at best.

Shame this wasn't a thing when I was a teen, I could have gotten a legal team Involved to get me a cheaper NeoGeo and games, but no back then I just sucked it up and either saved pocket money or I dunno, just realised I cannot have everything I want..

Re: Physical Games Represented Just 4% of Sales for PlayStation Last Quarter

dellyrascal

Been digital since buying the steel book edition of MGS5: Phantom Pain in 2015 and have not looked back, to be honest.

My nostalgic yearning for physical stopped after my Megadrive/Saturn days (I still have those carts/discs).

it's never quite been the same for me since then, as I genuinely cannot think of a single title in the last 15+ years that I'd want to play 30 years down the line (although I would be 78 by then!).

Anyway, I'm off to shout at a cloud...

Re: Ubisoft's XDefiant Fails PlayStation, Xbox Certification

dellyrascal

Although I've not done any of this since 2003 at EA's UK site, most of the compliance stuff tends to be console specific, including correct logos, language and god knows what else..

I remember there being a legal concern over whether a character could say eBay on one of the DefJam fighters, such are the hoops you have to jump through..

Has to be said though, failing like it has here is unusual, although I guess they don't have many QA certification people to do this, like they used to

As much can't comment on whether he is genuine in what he says, it's certainly stuff that doesn't affect gameplay..

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Baldur's Gate 3?

dellyrascal

Still on the fence to be honest.

All the videos I've watched have helped encourage my interest, but the question remains...

Do I wanna take a £57 non-refundable punt on a genre I've never been overly keen on and may still not get into?

Don't really care about the cost so much, as bought many a coffee coaster over the last 40+ years of gaming, but as purchase decisions go for me, this is a toughy.

If ya have bought it, I hope its as good as you hope so far..

I'm just gonna carry on sitting here and getting a few more splinters!

Re: Microsoft to Sell Activision Blizzard Streaming Rights to Ubisoft in Revised Deal

dellyrascal

Tactically well played to be fair..

They will get their claws and influence in another large software company (another with problems)

Plus, they can basically create a mini version of GamePass on other ecosystems, if they so wish, just under a different moniker...

Be interesting to see how things change (or indeed not) going forward. Currently, Ubisoft+ doesn't/cannot stream on PS Plus, so as it stands it's a moot point, but an interesting development I guess.

Re: $50 for Red Dead Redemption PS4 Port 'Commercially Accurate', Says Publisher Take-Two

dellyrascal

Won't matter a jot, they will still make their money.. the bigger surprise would be if it actually flopped, but highly doubtful..

I mean, there are too many players who have never played it, only heard or watched it, so they are all-in already I would imagine, sold on the idea of playing a classic, which also it seems, includes it's "classic" state of visuals and control systems.

Does sum up the state of play for gaming at the moment and the relationship between companies and players. The levels of disdain each has for the other has rarely been higher.

Re: Warhammer 40k's Blood-Soaked Boomer Shooter Gets Extended Gameplay Trailer

dellyrascal

I'm 47, a Gen X'er, I first experienced Doom at my Uncles in '93, he is now in his 70's so Boomer shooter isn't that far fetched and he still plays now, I bought him Prodeus recently....

Besides all the term does is encompass a style of game, both visually and play wise, whilst also rolling well off the tongue.

I genuinely don't see the issue with it.. he doesn't either.. but hey maybe we're old.. 🤣

Anyway, looking forward to this.. hopefully it holds its promise

Re: Soapbox: Hold On, Is the PS3 a Retro Console?

dellyrascal

If it ain't "Alive" anymore then it qualifies to be a retro console..

Although retro to me is more my old MegaDrive from back when I was 15 in 1990 or the Atari 2600, C64 and BBC prior to that...

I genuinely feel that whatever was around when you were at a specific age also influences that opinion too, but maybe that's a personal thing..

There isn't really a right or wrong answer as ultimately, it's all subjective to the individual..

Re: Indie Not on PlayStation Beats PS5, PS4's Biggest Hits to BAFTA's Game of the Year

dellyrascal

Very entertaining game all round.

Admittedly, growing up with a few similarly styled, albeit much smaller scale equivalents back in the C64 and Speccy days, I did wonder if this was just a "retro love-in" than a genuinely good game, but they have taken that "old" style and added modern gaming methods to create a genuinely enjoyable title, one that rewards improvement and progress.

Would I personally have it as game of the year? maybe not, with some of the technical feats also out there, but the amount of gatekeeping going on, is quite something..

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour Won't Take You Too Long to Platinum on PS5

dellyrascal

This needs to be a vast improvement on their last one.. Rory McIlroy 'whatever it was'... Although trophy hunters loved that one too . Took a couple days to get the plat if it remember correctly and that was without really having to veer from the main gameplay too much

Hopefully, the shot options alone, will help it reach its potential, but look forward to a review.. come a long way since Birdie Barrage and Leaderboard that's for sure

Re: Alt-History Shooter Atomic Heart Game Length, Weapon Upgrades Detailed

dellyrascal

@dark_knightmare2 - Don't be so presumptuous in assuming anything about me, other than what you read in my bio.. either that or the crystal ball you use, is on the blink...

I found the video, as funnily enough the YouTube algorithm knows that I have been searching for the game and watching videos, due to.... Guess what, my interest in the game and this came up, along with hundreds of other vids about it.

As for the site you mention, Ive never knowingly been to it, nor have knowledge of what it posts, so again, stop trying to mind read, you are doing a thoroughly bad job so far Mr Holmes.

Would Miss Marple want my internet history to prove it? Or she to busy assuming everything too...

I was merely adding meat to the comment by @Victor_Meldrew which was somewhat vague and so, as I had seen this vid some 24-36hrs ago, the reference was in my mind still.. nothing more..

I would also be happy to watch anything that counters the video and see it posted here too, as I am generally interested in the story, that is literally it..

But hey, rather than say, "Hey that's not right, here is said counter video to prove you wrong" to which I would say "thanks for that, I will watch it", the same tired old clichéd responses appear.. unfortunately, I don't have the ability to keep a finger glued to the pulse as you clearly do...

For that I'm sincerely sorry that I have other life stuff going on..

Will it affect ,whether I will purchase it.. unlikely

Am I not sure about the game itself on its own merits?
Yes I am

As I said, I have no vested interest. I couldn't give a rats a**e if someone wishes to play or not play the game on whatever basis, that is personal choice, nor do I have the energy to even attempt to dictate to people what they should or shouldn't do..

I treat people how I wish to be treated, no more no less, and I certainly don't feel the need to go around throwing horse**** at other commenters, because I disagree with them...

Re: Crime Boss: Rockay City Is a Star-Studded FPS Heist Game Shooting for PS5

dellyrascal

Looks fun and as a teenager in the early 90's this just plays into all of the memories from the films and media of that time..

Hopefully gameplay holds up, it will also be interesting to see how they market this, considering the age demographic it in theory is aiming for...

But anything with Chuck Norris and Danny Trejo will always have my attention from the start 😁

Re: Days Gone Director Blames Woke Reviewers, Programmers for Critical Reception

dellyrascal

Don't really care for those using woke or SJW as an attack point, that's always been lazy and just nullifies discussion / opposite opinions, no matter how rancid or agreeable they are to an individual.

Just live life simply....

Treat others how you wish to be treated.
Don't s**t on your own doorstep
Don't act a c**t. ---- EASY!

Anyhoo on topic.. (and apologies mods)

Shame he put the team under the bus, but having that sort of influence in his role, a large part of the buck stops at him and to be honest he should have moved on by now anyway..

As for the game, I played it via PS5 and I genuinely enjoyed it for what it was, a pure action based zombie game.. and I'd thoroughly recommend it still, even with its noted issues.

Re: Gotham Knights (PS5) - It's Actually Pretty Good

dellyrascal

@naruball it was indeed, but are we not allowed to have higher expectations nearly two years into a new generation?

I don't think the issue is necessarily that it's 30fps, more that it's badly optimised and was canned on the last gen, to supposedly aide its development on current gen consoles..

I was looking forward to it, but hopefully a few patches help it run smoother eventually. whether 30 or 60fps, then I will grab it....

Re: Returnal's Steam Page Getting Regular Updates, Reveal Seems Imminent

dellyrascal

@zupertramp That's a completely fair point and I too, am one who has ponied up for a PS5, so completely get it, but that convenience of a console is still a big deal for me personally...

Maybe this is my "ok boomer" moment, as I've grown tired of expecting anything better from console gaming over the years, certainly compared to PC at least, while the cash grabs are nothing new, they just have a brighter light shone on them, due to more coverage and social media etc.. So I just get on and enjoy my hobby as best as I can...

Not an ideal thing to do, but this fight was lost a long time ago...

Re: Returnal's Steam Page Getting Regular Updates, Reveal Seems Imminent

dellyrascal

Personally not bothered about games going to PC, especially as I spend most of my day on my laptop for writing purposes. The last thing I want to do is game on it..

As much as I can understand some who have got bent out of shape about games going from one to another, I just like the idea that more people get to play good games, but maybe I'm an anomaly....
