Re: GTA London Will Remain a One-Off, as the Series Needs Guns and American Culture, Says Dan Houser

dellyrascal

@TruestoryYep - I didn't suggest that it doesnt happen, all I pointed to was the generalisation of the "what London has become" in that particular comment..

The only thing that has changed about this whole subject matter, is the coverage, as it's a great political football to kick around for a multitude of reasons, but the idea that it's "broken" and "unsafe" is simply untrue based on living in and around the supposed no-go areas of town as I have done.

Maybe, I've been lucky, who knows, that's quite possible, but from my time here, I don't see it as any worse than anywhere else

Re: Halo Confirmed for PS5, Remake of First Game Out in 2026

On buying the original release, if you told now 50 year old me, that this would be on my Playstation, I'd have laughed at you!

However, with the changes in the industry over the last few years alone, it doesn't surprise me as much as it should and it will be interesting to see what happens across the industry in the next 5-10 years😁

Pricing will be key without multiplayer, but will happily pick up in a sale at some point..

Re: Baby Steps (PS5) - A Rewarding, Surrealist Odyssey for Those Willing to Fail

It looks like an interesting concept, although it reminds me of something else. I may wait for a sale, though.

On a sidenote: Review scores are just a guideline now.

Back when I only had gaming mags such as Zzap 64, Mean Machine and CVG to read, they held more sway, but nowadays, the sheer weight of content available makes the score a moot point IMO.

Still value the editorial, as it usually mentions a few key concerns, which I can then witness in a video of gameplay.

Re: 'The Largest Game Launch in History': Rockstar Hypes GTA 6, and Who's Going to Argue?

dellyrascal

Not a massive fan of the franchise, but the breadth of its reach is quite something.

Even in my field (Gambling Industry), the number of Bookmakers/Sportsbooks around the world that have offered odds on a variety of markets regarding the game, including its release and even potential characters or famous people appearing in the game, is something I had not witnessed in my previous 15 years of experience.

Re: Shameful AI Ads Put the Spotlight on The First Descendant

dellyrascal

I use AI at work, but the idea of just syphoning someone's likeness for profit is insane to me. And I say that as someone who works in the gambling industry, well-known for its ethical behaviour!!!!

Plus, it just stinks of laziness. Maybe I'm alone, but if a company feels it's okay to cut corners and advertise this way, I do question what else they have saved time on in terms of their product.

Re: Hitler Seemingly Removed from New Visual Novel PS5 Game

dellyrascal

Strange considering the basis of the story and the fact that other games and media has used references to Adolf in the past, including Wolfenstein more recently..

Be interested to hear their reasoning as to why and hope it's just more a personal design choice than a preemptive effort to avoid potential criticism somehow

Re: Poll: Are You Playing DOOM: The Dark Ages?

dellyrascal

Really enjoying this so far, I like how they introduce the new mechanics through gameplay, rather than "here ya go" get on with it and the extra tactical layer it introduces with it.

The ability to customize gameplay settings and speed is a nice addition, with 120% well recommended, but I'm having as much fun as I did with the original back in 1993, so I cannot complain.

Small Note: The enemies inability to blow up red barrels is the QoL change I didn't realise I needed

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Potential $80 PS5 Games?

dellyrascal

I paid Β£69.99 for Virtua Racing on the Megadrive with the SVP chip years ago, but the big difference nowadays is the sheer wealth of titles begging for our attention. Its so much easier to wait for heavy discounts or buy an indie at a reasonable price, as most of our backlogs are rediculous in the first place.

Re: Find Your Next PS Plus Game with Innovative Discovery App

dellyrascal

The concept is sound, but I have no intention of paying for an algorithm to pick my next game.

Don't get me wrong, if they can make it work and make money, then good luck to them, but I would rather go by word of mouth or watch gameplay, or as @jonnyAces said above, just looking for myself and do my own digging.

Re: Would You Pay $100 for GTA 6?

dellyrascal

I remember paying Β£70 for Virtual Racing and Β£65 for Super Streetfighter II on the Megadrive and even Β£70 for an Import version of SF Zero 2 on the Saturn back in the day, but in the current age of sales and discounts, let alone CEX, I can probably wait, but then I'm not a huge GTA player by any stretch either.

Ultimately, it will probably sell well even at this ridiculous price, with the issue being others trying to justify rises for their own software, which will have less content and engage players less.

The gaming industry loves a slippery slope and I can only see this going one way if they try it and get away with it.

Re: GOTY Dark Horse Balatro's Popularity Explodes Following TGA Nomination

Up there with Slay The Spire for me.

I've had it since the console release in February and still find it both entertaining and challenging. that "one more go" factor is lethal for my sleep pattern though!

I don't see it winning overall, as the general nature of the Game Awards loves big showy games, but good luck to LocalThunk on a job well done.

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

dellyrascal

@LogicStrikesAgain I probably should have phrased that a little better. I was in a rush while typing!

I was referring (badly) to the shortening length of the console generations and how that makes buying a console a little more considered now that we have mid-gen refreshes.

I happily bought new consoles in the release window knowing they would lead the way for 6-7 years plus, but that has unsurprisingly changed now and that's where the pricing stings personally, but as I said, that's the "old habits" kicking in.

I'm not going to lie, when I check out my friend's Pro, if it is THAT good, then I will be entertaining a purchase, but that nagging timescale of the PS6 future release will be a counterpoint in the back of my mind.

That being said, regardless of whether I do or don't, I hope those that do pick it up, enjoy it immensely.
