Re: PSone Racing Franchise V-Rally Returns in September

dellyrascal

@get2sammyb ya right was always multi-format, had it on Dreamcast...

Was also the first time i realised i had the generic game face, as one of the two co-pilots looked like me...

Looking forward to this, if it can give the same sense of fun with plenty of content, i'll be pleased

Re: The Golf Club 2019 Swings by on PS4 This Year

dellyrascal

@Nakatomi_Uk Not THAT old... unless ya remember Birdie Barrage on Dragon 32. LOL

The PGA Series on the Megadrive was superb for its time though, 3 was such a leap forward graphically from 2 as well. Since then, not many golf games have felt quite as good as this and i sometmes go back to it for a quick round or four.

Re: Hello Neighbor Sneaks Onto PS4 This Summer

dellyrascal

its a nice idea, but the over exposure on Youtube, along with what is mentioned above by @Rudy_Manchego - in terms of difficulty and no real risk / reward, makes his a miss for me too.....

Whoops tagged wrong person.... sorry, meant @FullbringIchigo

Re: Super Seducer Won't Be Releasing On PS4 After All

dellyrascal

I would actually like to hear the reasons why. Although i think the "we are Curating" will be the end result/cop out on an official line..

I couldnt give a rats c**k for the game itself as it looks to be pointless drivel "created" by an utter bellend of a human being.

Hopefully the staff that worked on it got paid already and he, himself makes no money from what is in essence "snake oil"

Re: Forced PlayStation Now Ad Causes a Stir on PS4

dellyrascal

@General_Spiller - Nice Manics reference there...

Anyhoo...Not THAT big an issue but surely this is what the store is for?

Even when you highlight a game and push "down" to see more info, there can be the odd ad there, from the same company, promoting another IP. Thats seems quite reasonable.

I;m assuming they are just seeing what the reaction is by promoting something of their own... Can see why some may be annoyed but personally, cant say im fussed...

Re: Dynasty Warriors 9 Is the 'Worst Performing Game' on PS4 Pro

dellyrascal

Sure this is likely to be rectified with patches, but anything below 30fps needs to be pointed out to people looking to purchase a game..

Some games can get away with it just, but an action orientated game like this... no, and simply consumers should be informed..

To be honest, optimisation this day and age, shouldnt be a problem... but its the "get it out there and patch it later" mentality that doesnt help

Re: Soapbox: I Miss the Mystery of Video Games

dellyrascal

I remember going to the original Cex off Tottenham Court Road back in 1996. got my Saturn modded to run Japanese software and a 50/60hz switch too... Bought Streetfighter Zero 2 on import as well...

Was a wonderful place to go, all the import titles, see stuff like the Neo-Geo which was out of my financial powers then and older consoles... i remember i'd spend at least an hour in there before rushing back home to Blackfriars to play my latest purchase..

I love my gaming still and although the flow of constant info is amazing this day and age, i do miss that sense of discovery.

I had a reminding taster when in Tokyo a few years back. Going into a retro game store made me feel like a big kid again.

Re: PS4 Hacked Enabling Wider PS2 Support, Homebrew

dellyrascal

Sony's done well to keep the firmware away from being broken this long in all honesty.

Regards talking about this... when PES 2018 came out, a guy asked on the forum about option files and where to get them, yet the post was shut down, something to do with potential copyright infringement and modding, despite the game allowing these files.

Despite being a little annoyed, that I couldnt help the fellow community member out, i thought fair enough and yet here we are with our hosts now talking about the potential copyright infringement of Klonoa 2 on this modded OS...

If ya gonna make rules and regs for us, do me a favour and be transparent enough to follow them as well, and not just ignore it coz its a slow news day...

I love the site but double standards are a bit much.

Re: Feature: 5 Ways the PlayStation Store Must Improve in 2018

dellyrascal

A sorting out of pricing is paramount. The fact that these games drop in price after barely two months at times, means they are blatantly trying to milk those who do want it immediately and in digital, regardless of opinion on that way of purchasing.

And of course the simple fact that digital should be cheaper than physical anyway,,,

Also sort out the store front to make things a bit easier to find and also streamline it so that it works quicker and is stable (it runs like a joke, considering how many stability updates we get)

Re: Sony Details the Mini PS4 Controller

dellyrascal

Nice idea and i know a couple of friends whose kids struggle with the DS4's, so if it lets them game properly then good stuff.

Personally, the standard pad is fine for me, and even though i may have entertained it, the lack of headphone jack especially is a bit of a killer, although i completely understand why...

Re: UK Politicians and Campaigners Lobby Against Detroit: Become Human

dellyrascal

The old attitudes to videogames apply once again. "They are for kids" / "Serious themes should not be discussed etc".

Bottom line is that they are regulated with age restrictions, so if any child witnesses this scene, then the reality is that the parents are responsible, not the devs, while the potential influence on anyone else, despite being feasible at best, is rather moot considering the current state of tv and movies anyway.

Games are a medium like anything else so should be treated the same.. Like a movie, TV show, music etc....Recommendations and restrictions by the BBFC are one thing, but people getting on their high horse because it scores "brownie points" do not help any sort of sensible discussion, if there is actually a genuine need to do so

Re: Belgium Reckons Loot Boxes Are Gambling, Wants Them Banned in Europe

dellyrascal

From the Oxford Dictionary:

Gamble

"Play games of chance for money; bet".

"Take risky action in the hope of a desired result".

You can slice it as many ways as you want...it is what it is...

The crazy thing from my point of view. (write sports articles and have to look at betting odds) is that EA do not have to even disclose the potential odds of picking up what the player wants via this gamble. Even fruit machines have to state the percentage of payouts...

No one should be asked to gamble (at their own risk) anything without being told the mathematical odds of this happening.. It doesnt happen in sports betting, so why is this any different, considering the age groups that are involved

Re: Review: Star Wars Battlefront 2 (PS4)

dellyrascal

@starhops Oh yeah, I've been gaming for so long now, its always been the case and wont change. I just have always found it odd in this genre...

Saying that when playing Goldeneye 64, all four of us would fight over picking Oddjob, as his shorter height gave others aiming difficulties...

I guess we take what we can huh?

Re: Review: Cat Quest (PS4)

dellyrascal

Well a seven outta ten is a long way from a cat-astrophe but just a whisker away from a purr-fect game, which is good.. Any lower and i would have paws-ed to think about buying it and given the devs a flea in their ear.

After all the bad puns, i'm off for a treat and a catnap...

Re: EA Acquires Titanfall Developer Respawn Weeks After Shutting Visceral

"We are the EA. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile."

All these were to 2015... so RIP Respawn... Assiimilation in progress..

Mythic (Dark Age of Camelot)
Bullfrog (Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper)
Origin (Ultima, Wing Commander)
Westwood (Command & Conquer)
DreamWorks Interactive/Danger Close/EA Los Angeles (Medal of Honor)
Phenomic (SpellForce, BattleForge)
Black Box Games (Need for Speed, Skate.
Pandemic (The Saboteur)
PlayFish (The Sims Social)
NuFX (NBA Street).

Re: PlayStation Plus Members Save Big in Latest Sale on EU PS Store

dellyrascal

@AFCC I would say go for it, very fun and a ton to do, however, I would say that since i have done everything barring the Par 5 hole in one challenges, the game has gathered a little dust... Got a good two months out of it but it has faded to the background...

Very arcade orientated, while still adhering to the fundamentals of golf...

Re: Rumour: Call of Duty: WWII Won't Work Prior to Release

dellyrascal

Cannot say i am surprised by this, if true.

The advent of live streaming and "being first" has become the equivalent of me farting in a room full of hipsters and then watching them argue over who smelt it first...

Pretty rubbish for those who don't have a connection and in an ideal world it shouldn't be the case, but the days of me being able to play my old games have been numbered for a console generation or two at least, with this adding another nail in that particular coffin.

Besides, the likes of Acti and EA only put the single-player in as a tradition nowadays, until they can find a way to siphon off the MP into its own IP

That's likely to happen in a few years, once they work out how they can still charge 50 notes for the privilege...

Re: Microsoft Says Single Player Games Are Becoming Complicated

dellyrascal

@get2sammyb is that meant to be insinuation, not insulation in the first paragraph..

Sorry, my sports writing job has made me notice these things more, and if ya anything like me, it would drive you mad, if ya noticed it yourself!

On Topic:

I can understand this attitude to an extent, but as mentioned above, there have been so many top class, single player games released over the last year, the argument is buried before it starts.

Make good games and people will buy them, it's that simple...

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins Microtransactions Confirmed, Helix Credits Make a Comeback

dellyrascal

As many have said, if they don't affect the game, then no problem, but if the idea of Loot Boxes /microtransactions / virtual currency not only continues, but actually thrives, then the next logical step for devs will be to make the core experience a massive grind, which will suck the joy out of most IP's... Dead Space 3 anyone?

Hopefully it doesn't get that far, but I guess the main cause for concern isnt so much the loot boxes / Microtransactions / virtual currency themselves, but the ruining of perfectly working games that have no need to be messed with in this way...

The only good thing happening with this regard, is that already most have woken to the potential practices these companies have started to use and dont give it a second look and simply ignore it..

but...Give them an inch, they will take several miles etc..

Re: Xbox Boss Isn't Optimistic About Sony Changing Its Cross-Platform Play Policy

dellyrascal

I'd say ultimately its mere brownie points that the MS execs will get, for being so "I just dont understand why they wont play with us" each time the same question is asked.

Arguably that is all they can say, but considering the idea that Xbox, PC and other devices can play together on say a Minecraft or whatever, I would have thought trumpeting that would be more beneficial to them overall..

"Look, you can play with your friends on these different devices together", is a cool thing when you look at it from the outside and i am surprised they really are not pushing this hard...

Maybe the millions of ps4's that could potentially be involved is seen as a loss of potential revenue somehow for them, but ultimately the question has been answered so many times now and really there isn't much mileage left if Sony have said no...

The ONLY thing that I can see changing this is something like PUBG, depending on how its handled... Arguably along with Minecraft, this would be the best game to trial a completely open, cross network game... alas I dont think it will happen

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins Will Let You Spend Your Egyptian Pounds on Loot Boxes

dellyrascal

Regardless of my opinion on the subject as a whole, the one thing that does strike me, is the incoherent desperation by the devs.

Now that game shelf lives are pretty short, before discounting etc kicks-in and/or the product is usurped by something "newer", the ultimate need to make money in the quickest way possible is becoming more unscrupulous than ever.. yet these same devs bang on about a game as a service...

As per usual, their cake and eat it philosophy is there for all to see and I only forsee it getting worse before getting better.

Re: Some Savvy Publishers Are Now Using Trophies to Sell Ads

dellyrascal

Didnt Fight Night have the Burger King on 360... Then there was Cool Spot.the Fido Dido game, the McDonalds game called Global Gladiators on megadrive alone...

Dont get why everyone is getting knickers in a twist over advertising going hand in hand with the empty husks that are valueless trophies.. arguably they are the perfect coupling of instantly forgettable and meaningless information.
