Re: Guide: Red Dead Online - How to Play Red Dead Redemption 2 Online

dellyrascal

Played with a group of seven of us and yeah its struggling to hold the attention at the moment, barring murder, it's pretty boring at the moment.

The open world is very bereft too, which is expected. Ended up jumping off as we all kept falling through the world in St.Denis, so some work needed, but will definitely come back when there is a bit more going on...

Re: PSN Account Banned Over Cultural Mistake Reinstated by Sony

Blimey, a little research or just typing that word and looking beyond their own shortsightedness would have sufficed... The many sportmen with that name would have been enough to realise, let alone anything else....

Anyway, least its sorted now..

Might try and change my name to incorporate Scunthorpe into it and see what happens....

Re: Hands On: Fallout 76's PS4 Performance Is Embarrassing in 2018

dellyrascal

Surely an engine that struggled in a previously offline game was bound to have more issues with online latency etc on top...

In the period between 4 and 76 they should have at least optimised it or god forbid make a new one.... Yeah it wil take more time but to say its showing its age is an understatement...

And as others have iterated, if this engine is being used for the next gen, im a little concerned...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Clips Featuring Assaulted Suffragette Prompt YouTube Controversy

@KALofKRYPTON @nessisonett - I live up the road from those idiots and quite frankly, the amount of local vitriol they will get, will be enough for them to learn.(i hope).

And although i absolutely abhor the portrayal, i dont think it was done out of hate, just a very sick sense of homour, like those who dressed up as Jimmy Saville for Halloween a few years ago... Regardless of my personal opinion, they can do as they wish, just be aware of the consequences among peers.

The arrests if anything, highlight the lack of progress regards the corporate manslaughter charges, which are far more important... Inadvertantly, those idiots have at least highlighted the sorry episode again...

Re: Poll: One Week Later, Is Red Dead Redemption 2 the Best Game of 2018?

dellyrascal

This is a 9.25 for me... My excitement never got taken over by the hype train but as a game its very enjoyable, the controls have been easy to adapt to, although could be better, but other than that, Rockstar have created a damn fine videogame.

At times it dabbles in cliched storylines, but with a beautiful world that encourages exploration and actually has stuff to do, it can be forgiven for minor foibles which tend to stem from its attempts at mimicking Westerns . Its also funny at times too...

Random incidents (KKK members deaths come to mind) and chance observations just add to a great attempt at a living world, while some attempt at tackling real issues of the time have to be commended even if it can be a little hackneyed on occasion...

I have got more out of this than GTA V but thats more me than the games. I cant do more than recommend it, although for some the slower pace could pose an issue

Re: Dream Daddy Flirts with PS4 on 30th October

@VRDart -

A dating game that intimates the idea, that two people will get together and thus COULD potentially have consensual sex should be treated the same as a fighting game, that has a comepletely irrelevant "intimacy mode" that allows users to pull breasts, grope characters and illicit negative responses from those characters when touched..

I dont agree, but i respect your opinion and this is why censorship is such a hot topic to discuss.

i do agree that it is terrible in the majority of cases and it could hurt the industry in the long term, but without a better idea than "let everything be allowed", someone has to make decision and it wont always be a popular one.

Re: Dream Daddy Flirts with PS4 on 30th October

dellyrascal

@Gamer83 - I'm happy you dont't give a s*** about someone's sexuality, but ultimately there is no other reason for people to weaponise the SK situation against this specific game, which IS whats happening, regardless of your personal viewpoint on the matter, one which i'm aware of, having read your posts. You are simply talking about censorship and about content that is removed, not about this "dating" game and its contents

My point was that those arguing over the censorship of SK, are asking why DreamDaddy isnt being considered for censorship and it makes no sense in the current climate. Like i said this does not have sexualised content, so other than the homosexual angle, which even in this day and age IS an issue for some people, why are people questioning this in the first place? Because the underlying issue is what you actually referenced previously, that "slippery slope", where groups complain and pressure companies into regressing games and other media to basic levels for fear of upsetting someone. A cake and eat it mentality will only kill off media.

I dont particularly want that, but there seems to be an idealogy around that these ideas of what is right and wrong dont change. I dont neccesairly like how many things have indeed changed to mollycoddle the masses, but sometimes it is the right choice at that time.

SK and GTA V are the modern equivalent of Custers Revenge, I wont insult your intelligence by explaining that game, but ultimately back then, the furore was tangible and headline worthy, not just because of its content, but due to the more closeted sexual climate of the time. I look at that game and just laugh at how rediculous and quite pathetic it is in modern aspects but this was hardcore and pornographic to quite a large section of people back then, whereas modern commentators look at the fact that it looks like the rape of a native american woman tied to a stake. So as much as we can go forward and advance ourselves into the acceptance of once taboo subjects or indeed be able to discuss certain subject matter, we also have to be able to re-evaluate.

In SK's case, thats whats happened, yes it's a dangerous step in broad censorship terms, we can go on to ask why was the hostess mode in Yakuza allowed, which is glorified prostitution as well, then GTA and so on... I understand that worry, but even if something hasnt been noticed for several incarnations, it still has to answer to the current climate of the time, regardless of whether you or I agree or not, i just dont want those who have other motives using these sort of stories to further their Sh**ty agendas and muddying the waters even more.

Re: Dream Daddy Flirts with PS4 on 30th October

dellyrascal

@suikoden - Yeah it is quite the paradox unfortunately.

When ya read comments referencing gay men and hetero men as separate entities, not just... ya know... men... it makes me realise at 43, that gaming is as toxic as it's ever been and i despise it..

Re: Dream Daddy Flirts with PS4 on 30th October

dellyrascal

I've seen so many using Senran Kagura in reference to this game across internet forums.

People expecting this this to be treated the same, when it features (as far as i know via 30 secs on google) only minor references to kissing or sexual activity in the conversations between characters, as opposed to the obvious groping mode in SK,

Just sounds like some people cant handle a game about homosexual males and using SK's censorship as a convenient cover.

As for the game, cant say i'm interested, dating games are a niche that i just dont get, but whoever plays it, enjoy!

Re: Soapbox: Can You Truly Appreciate a Game with Walkthroughs?

dellyrascal

I dont particularly see a problem with using them, when needed, finding a certain object / collectible when i've become fed up not finidng it for an hour... or as has been mentioned above, when a way to do something is very specific and slightly off the beaten track, say the Goat puzzle in Broken Sword 5.

I wouldnt use them from the start, that would be plain odd, considering half the joy of games is finding your own way through.

However, each to their own... Don't see a major issue with it either way.

Re: Fallout 76's Map Revealed, Four Times Larger Than Fallout 4's

dellyrascal

A map this size and only beasts and other humans ... Could be a problem after a while. played the Conan Exiles game, which for the type of game it was, was okay, but it soon got boring quickly..

Also be interesting to see if certain parts of the map are no go areas until you level up... another fault of these games, limiting you to where you can go, unless you earn the XP via busy work...

I hope it does well, as i enjoy the series, but i'm, loathed to touch this when RDR2 is on the cards..

Re: Political Thriller The Occupation Delayed to February Next Year

dellyrascal

Might do it some good to be fair, with the release schedule as it is and big releases both before and after the initial release date they gave.

Looks a promising game, can only commend them for looking to improve it more, rather than push it out and patch it later, as is the case these days.

Hopefully the "want to work" on it some more and a more forgiving release period will give it some success, assuming it is as good as hoped.

Re: Soapbox: Publishers Want You to Pay to Play Early, And It's a Worry

dellyrascal

I remember picking up Streetfighter Zero 2 on my chipped Saturn many moons ago, back then the waits were obscene for anything from Japan to release over here.

Now the stores are universal (more or less), i do find it strange that companies do this, but I think there is a correlation to being the "first" on the likes of Youtube and Twitch, along with a fair amount of gamers who "need it now"..

This along with the whole Steam style "early access" thing in games these days, makes this a lucrative and easy cash grab for companies and lets face it, Ubisoft are never slow at milking a cash cow, where possible.

Re: UK Sales Charts: FIFA 19 Is Already the Biggest Game of the Year

dellyrascal

@tomassi -

Sheep... Nah, never have been in the 30 years of buying my own games. Bought FIFA 19 as it actually is (god forbid) a bit more fun than it has been over its last few incarnations, especially playing alongside my friends and family as i do.

I also have the latest PES, which i play for single player mode mainly, as online is barely passable at the best of times, which is its main problem, among many..

Re: Review: Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle (PS4)

dellyrascal

@JamieO Having watched a video or two, the main issue seems to be the online play. How bad is the netcode for PS4?

Would also love the scrolling Marvel licensed versions, they were superb back in the day and as @playstation1995 said... Cadillacs And Dinosaurs! Word Up Son

Re: This Is Pool Hustles to PS4 Early Next Year

dellyrascal

Pure Pool is very good and i still play it every now and again. A few bits of Hustle Kings would be good to add but seems a bit of a stretch to release a new game.. I'm interested but not sure what more I can be offered from it..

But credit to Voofoo, i like them as a studio and wish them nothing but success...

Re: Hands On: FIFA 19 Demo - Five Things We Learned

dellyrascal

Having played it last night, it is a vast improvement over 18's play...

Be interesting to see what tweaks have been made since that build, player speed is a problem, although for career mode, the sliders can be moved still i assume.

Seems like they have taken a few notes from how PES was received last year from a gameplay point of view, but will wait and see how it plays compared to PES 19 on full release, as cannot judge a full game against a demo..

Re: Microtransactions Described as 'An Unfortunate Reality' by NBA 2K19 Producer

dellyrascal

As much as making money is their business, the problem is the sheer greed.

Carving off content, splitting user bases through DLC and the pay to win aspect of many microtransactions have finally started to turn alot of gamers off, which is why half the newly released stuff gets discounted after 2/3 months on the store..

I dont generally mind MT's - IF they are done the right way, but the more that comes along, the more it just smells of catering for shareholders and not actually for the customers that buy the product, which this industry had been good at many many years ago..

Re: Spider-Man PS4's Puddle Drama Is An Absolute Embarrassment

dellyrascal

I dont think i've ever seen a screenshot represent my actual on screen display in any game over the past thirty cocking years

so its all a load of nonsense...

Reminds me of the tire shadow row in Driveclub...

And as for this bickering and "calling out" users, just because they have a different take on things...

Grow up...

Re: Xbox Gamers Are More Hardcore Than PlayStation, Says Microsoft

dellyrascal

Meh... hardcore, smardcore..

Fanboy flame fanning isnt as good as it used to be, compared to Sega v Nintendo or the Commodore v Spectrum days even..

All a load of cobblers... if there are people dedicated to a specifc game, genre or console, fair play to them...

makes no difference what anyone says, i'm having fun on my Binatone TV Master Mk 6 and couldnt care a jot...

Re: Review: Strange Brigade (PS4)

dellyrascal

@Oddbodjunior i'm interested too... just wanna be sure before i think of looking further

I've got way too many games unfinished, so trying to be a bit more selective, which is impossible!

Anyway, Enjoy!, hope its good and a little feedback, would be appreciated if thats cool?

Re: Just Cause 4 Gameplay Footage to Debut Later Today

dellyrascal

I'll happily wait... Played the first two which were enjoyable, then the last one was a bit meh all round, maybe Just Cause fatigue, i dunno.. Surely there is only so many times you can re-invent the wheel.

I like Avalanche, an interesting dev, but I wish they'd try something different at some point, although I get why they might not want to venture too far from what they know, with the financial climate as it is...

Anyway good luck to them, hope it does well for them

Re: Elder Scrolls Legends Cross-Play 'Absolutely Critical', Situation Could Be 'Dire' on PS4

dellyrascal

As much as I kind of like the push about cross-play that Bethesda are making, realistically they need to get their own house in order before anything else and this is more about farming some positive PR for a change.. (see Bugthesda, No pre-release reviews and Evil Within 2 among others)

I like the companies software in general, but I dont really see a game like this being the "one" to change company policies (although i'd be happy to be proved wrong) , considering the likes of Rocket League and in a different way, Fortnight have not been able to do so themselves despite their current popularity.

I'm relaxed about crossplay on the whole, in some aspects it would be nice, in others, i'm not so sure, but it's good that the conversation has gathered pace nowadays, although with the current state of PS4 sales and user numbers, I can see why they dont feel the need to..
