We got a nice surprise in the mail this morning: a sizeable Red Dead Redemption 2 loot crate from Rockstar Games. While the package doesn’t contain any new information on the upcoming PlayStation 4 game itself, it does include some various pieces of merchandise, including a mug, t-shirt, and a couple of decals.

Now we’re probably inferring a helluva lot, but this arrived completely out of the blue, and we’re wondering if it’s a hint that more information may be on the way. Remember that the title is now little more than two months from launch, and we still haven’t seen a single second of gameplay. What do you think: an elaborate tease or just a generous gift?

@LaNooch1978 I thought the same too!
I don't get the fascination with having to see gameplay. Credit to rockstar for sticking to their guns.
Maybe it hints at loot crates.
We know how well T2 wants to exoand their monetary success with GTAV...
That title scarred me
@crimsontadpoles
Same i was about to rage.......
They probably just sent it to the wrong address.
You lucky devils! I want that mug for my Yorkshire tea.
Did they disclose the odds of getting a rare item before you opened it?
@LaNooch1978 Yeah, my bad. Thanks!

Is that mug metal/enamel and if yes can I have it?
Love that mug. I think a competition may be needed...
will these goodies be used as a competition giveaway? Or has someone in the office already stocked them for Christmas gifts?
I think its a generous gift for a great gaming site
I thought red dead 2 will have loot crates lol.
It means that they are using gifts to receive great scores from you guys!
The next gift will be a horse.
I also wish i hadn't seen the term 'Loot Crate' in the title
Loot crates or not, they're gonna screw up the online mode like they did with Gta V. Not that I care that much, long as the single player is fine.
This plus the stone hatchet in gta means they're upto something for sure.
My guess is that the loot crate means “hopefully this softens the blow for when we announce we are pushing the release date back another 6 months.”
