Re: 80s Synthpop Stars Heaven 17 Resist the Temptation of PS5's GTA 6

dellyrascal

After a quick Google scan, Spotify generally pays $0.003 - 0.005 per play (on average) supposedly.

So therefore to make the $7,500 offered, the "exposure" will need to generate at least 2.5 million extra plays on streaming services at the lowest payment level.

The song has around 26.2 million plays there alone.

Assuming GTA 6 does similar figures to the alleged 200 million sold according to Take Two, then that same exposure would be worth 600K.

I'm not saying Martin can or should get that amount, but I can understand why he is p***ed off at the exceptionally low-ball offer for a song that has lasting appeal and is relatively well-known.

Re: Dr Disrespect Admits Messages to Minor 'Leaned Too Much in the Direction' of Impropriety

dellyrascal

@lifegirl - I'll make this relatively brief...

At least two people have stated that they don't think he is a pedo in this comment section, but he was wrong in what he did, despite him admitting to inappropriate conduct with a minor... Which as far as I know, sees the onus on the adult in all situations of this ilk..

That in one form or another is defending him, whether meant or otherwise.

You can disagree, just as others can. I stand by what I said and you can scream into the void as much as you like but my opinion won't change, as yours will not.

As for the social media and innocent til proven guilty points.

Firstly, I don't sit on social media, as I can't be arsed at nearly 49 years old to read the manure that is posted on X and the like. and secondly, until reading his own words, I never made a judgement call either way, as I agree that people should not jump to conclusions unless evidence/factual statements are made, because I don't take internet words as the gospel truth, unless the person in question makes a statement, which in this case, he did.

Anyway, good day.

Re: Fans Fight for Shenmue 4, Rent Billboard in New York's Time Square

As someone who bought the first two when originally released, I have to say that the ship had sailed a long while ago for me.

Was great at the time and it still holds a special place in my heart but times changed and it didn't, plus the likes of Yakuza usurped it too.

Considering how stunted the Dreamcast was in terms of sales, 1.2 million copies of the original was pretty good by all accounts.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Dev Thanks Fans for 'Passion' Following Censorship Controversy

dellyrascal

Amuses me, seeing game companies feeding off culture wars like vampires.

Create a little unnecessary controversy, which is now extremely easy to do, because - the internet is what it is...

Let it blow up, enjoy the period of conjecture and extra free exposure, and then go and roll back the "specific issue causing thing" in the game to what was originally intended in the first place, and to huge fanfare.

I don't particularly have a horse in this race, but the number of people being played is quite impressive.

Re: Talking Point: What's Next for Xbox Games on PS5, PS4?

dellyrascal

I'd assume the drip feed of older titles will continue, I mean if they are making money, why would they stop?

The hardest part was judging how their fanbase would react, but now it's been done, I don't see them holding back so much, although I'd be surprised to see Xbox staples such as Halo, Gears and Forza arrive anytime soon.

It will be interesting to see where they go from here.

Re: Fallout 4 PS5 Now Available for PS Plus Collection Owners

dellyrascal

Managed to "upgrade" the PS Collection version via my phone on Saturday, however, Sony could do with streamlining its licensing and how this works moving forward, amid the minor chaos of Friday's release/update and the lack of clear information.

Plus, it's not the first time, mistakes have been made on the store.

I was happy to wait personally, to see what was going on, but I can imagine a few annoyed souls out there, who paid when they didn't need to, won't be so pleased..

Re: Random: Vladimir Putin Considers Creation of Russian Gaming Console

I was looking at a couple of articles about their old arcade games and Repka Silomer' (The Turnip Strength Tester) looks about as stereotypical as it could ever have been from the 80's...

Looking forward to Lada Racing 2025 and the "No American" mission on their COD clone. plus culling oil company execs in Hitman: Windows Edition.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Celebrates 30th Anniversary, Gives a Small Update on TES 6

dellyrascal

@DaniPooo - I dunno, maybe familiarity grows contempt, having played Skyrim on PC, 360, PS4 and PS5 for so long.

My idea of innovation isn't necessarily about re-inventing the wheel, which I probably could have communicated better, I just want some tangible improvements and new gameplay additions that fit.

I don't particularly want TES6 to be Baldur's Gate 3 or Elden Ring, just a better Elder Scrolls title and some more variety in the gameplay itself, although how that would work, is another conversation.

And I do concur regarding proven formulas and keeping fans happy. It's probably why I've been playing Streetfighter in its various guises since the early 90's, albeit its not the greatest comparison.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Celebrates 30th Anniversary, Gives a Small Update on TES 6

dellyrascal

Loved Oblivion and Skyrim but they are very much games of their time. That Bethesda style feels very stale by modern RPG standards, which has a lot to do with why Starfield didn't do anything for me, despite my hope at the time.

We've known for years the engine needs updating or changing, but I do wonder if they have the confidence or even the ability to change the gameplay loop into something that at least feels fresher and modernised, rather than just Skyrim at a higher resolution and framerate, which I can already do with mods if need be.

I hope so, but won't be holding my breath!

Re: Unlock a Free 12 Months of PS Plus Premium with PlayStation's Visa Credit Card

dellyrascal

Not for me, but also no issue with the post.

PushSquare writing about Sony offering adults a financial service that could have further benefits if they are in the PlayStation eco-system is relevant enough news to someone, even if not to you or me and it featured a link to the legal T&Cs.

The ongoing urge of readers to sweep anything that has a potential or associated real-life risk, or just simply isn't agreeable completely off the site, baffles me.

if I wanted to be mollycoddled, I'd ask... or pay for it...

Re: Sony Testing PSVR2 Compatibility on PC, Aiming for This Year

dellyrascal

Sony needs to do a fair bit to make a dent outside the console market, I don't know whether they can, considering the competition already there.

And having stuck my head in a Vision Pro last week, It's only going to get tougher as the tech moves on. As cynical as I am about anything Apple, that was an impressive device (albeit the price can do one!)

Re: Mini Review: Balatro (PS5) - Roguelike Poker Ain't No Joker

dellyrascal

Highly recommended to anyone who likes a roguelike.

One of those easy-to-understand, hard-to-master titles and does a good job of explaining enough to the player, without discouraging trial and error or holding your hand.

I also love how it rewards the player for trying different strategies and generally improving at the game. In that regard, it has a very strong Slay The Spire vibe, which is no bad thing.

And for £12.99, it's a steal for the hundreds of hours I'm probably gonna put into it.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Be More Transparent About PS5, PS4's Most Played Games?

dellyrascal

I'm in the meh boat to be honest... Barring genre, which at least would potentially offer the odd surprise title or game I missed to pique my interest, I don't think there is a measurement demographic that would help me personally.

My game choices stem from media coverage (written/video), friend recommendations and generally looking into genres I enjoy.

Prime example is Balatro. I've been watching this for a while via youtube and picked it up yesterday. I love it, its a great little game, but I'd be very surprised if it ever topped any sort of chart as indicated in the article.

Re: PS5, PS4 Is Losing the SEO War Against Its Rivals

dellyrascal

Although you could argue that there should be more effort made, it's a relatively closed subject matter compared to the SEO challenges I face in the gambling industry for instance, which by default, is a daily scramble for attention due to the hundreds of options available.

With a limited amount of players in this particular game, they could easily push up the SERP with a day or two's effort, so you have to wonder whether they are relying on good old word of mouth alone, or simply don't see the viability of making a bit more effort, as you either "are" or "are not" a playstation player.

Either way, it is a little strange to not capitalise on any option that is available to push the product and SEO is one such medium that can garner success.

Re: Ubisoft Is Committing to a Full Year of Skull and Bones Content

dellyrascal

Other than the delays, I had not heard much prior and as nice as the video looked, it just feels like Port Royale with Ubisoft's tried and hated busy work for online play.

Will give the beta a go, to see for myself properly, but I'm not exactly "chomping at the bit".

Also be interesting to see what happens to the rumoured Sea Of Thieves release, if this either does well or tanks accordingly.

Re: The Day Before Dev Resurfaces, Blames Failure on 'Gold Rush' of Negative Takes

dellyrascal

I love the fact that despite shutting down, pleading poverty and blaming others for their shoddy communication and outright disingenuous gameplay clips, they are also apparently creating a new game too... Coz of course they are.

And so the cycle will continue..

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see them prove they can create an ambitious (and good) game, as that's never a bad thing for players, but at this moment, with their history of leaving games to die, I doubt it...

Re: Publishing Exec Claims 'There Are Too Many Games'

dellyrascal

I remember the amount of shovelware that was available on cassette back on the Commodore 64, but at least back then you could get 4 (Crappy) games for £1.99

It's funny how things change. If you told 1980's me, that there would be well over 50 games a week coming out in 2024, I'd be hugely excited.

Yet modern me, now realises my back catalogue will likely die with me...

Less is more and all that...

Re: Court Rules £5 Billion Lawsuit Against Sony Can Go Ahead, Following Years of 'Excessive' PS Store Prices

dellyrascal

"it's costing millions who can't afford it"

I would understand this argument, if important things such as electricity, gas (both high due to poor UK government pricing controls) and other bills were targeted here, but not for what is in essence a luxury, non essential product.

I concur that digital pricing is ridiculous and something needs to change, but this argument makes little sense and is weak at best.

Shame this wasn't a thing when I was a teen, I could have gotten a legal team Involved to get me a cheaper NeoGeo and games, but no back then I just sucked it up and either saved pocket money or I dunno, just realised I cannot have everything I want..
