One email subject we did not expect to receive today: V-Rally is back. The legendary PSone racing series is scheduled to receive a fourth instalment this September on the PlayStation 4, with French developer Kylotonn pairing up with publisher Bigben Interactive to revive the off-road brand. A teaser trailer is embedded above, confirming the first new entry in the franchise in 15 years.
“With V-Rally 4, the goal is to remain faithful to the identity of the franchise, which earned the support of millions of fans, and to strike a perfect balance between sensation, presentation, and simulation, while offering the best graphics and gameplay the latest technology can support,” the press release reads.
The sequel will feature various rally races against a variety of backdrops, as well as gymkhana-esque precision events and Rallycross circuits. There’ll also be hillclimbs and buggy races, all spread across online and offline career modes. Expect more information in the lead up to release, but for now, check out the teaser video at the top of the article.

V-ery excited about this!
Hmm, looks alright I guess. I never played the PS One versions. @get2sammyb was this a PS-only series back in the day, I noticed it's also coming to Xbox, Switch and PC at the end of the clip. The more that can play, the better, I think.
@Turismo4GT I think it was always multiformat, just remember it being very popular on PSone back in the day. Particularly in the UK.
@get2sammyb cheers, I hope they release a demo or beta for this so we can see if it's a worthy competitor to Dirt and WRC.
@get2sammyb ya right was always multi-format, had it on Dreamcast...
Was also the first time i realised i had the generic game face, as one of the two co-pilots looked like me...
Looking forward to this, if it can give the same sense of fun with plenty of content, i'll be pleased
Was it V-Rally that had a track editor? I'd be up for that.
@Gremio108 yeah it was...
Oooh i'll take the switch version thanks. More rally games the better
used to love this on ps1 totally useless at it but was great game
@Turismo4GT @get2sammyb Considering the first was also on N64, which wasn't as big a seller as the PS1, it stands to reason that it may have sold more on that system. It also came to game-boy of course. 2 was on Dreamcast as well as PS1 with 3 coming out on Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and GBA. Obviously all were on PC too.
I can see the confusion with the title of the article. It does seem to suggest that V-Rally was a PS0ne exclusive racing franchise.
Wow... Corsica.... Peugeot 205s... school...
Looking forward to this, still thinking about getting Gravel.
I loved V-Rally when I was a kid. Got a flash of nostalgia when I saw that the series is coming back.
Oh man - I was not a big racer but played this to death on PS One.
Played this so much back in the day. Many hours spent with friends trying to beat each others ghost replays if memory serves!
Still I don't believe it, V-Rally Returns!!!, I thought it had already been "forgotten" since Atari / Infogrames are bankrupt and the original Eden games closed; but is good to know that BigBen bought and rescue V-Rally (that also, they bought Test Drive IP, and rumours say that TDU 3 is in the way) and well, new V-Rally game is coming!, well, only to wait!!
so many racing games lately
Can't see this beating Dirt rally.
