Re: Official Dragon Quest Survey Asks Fans to Help Shape Series' Future

clvr

@nessisonett nooooo don't do this to me! Lol
I love love love that battle theme, what's wrong with it? 😁
It's so pompous yet not self-serious, I think it fits like a glove in a DQ game personally!

@NEStalgia don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree! The amount of tracks is abysmal compared to the number of locations and hours sunk into the game, 100% agreed πŸ‘πŸ» I just really like most of the tracks actually in the game πŸ˜ƒ

Re: Official Dragon Quest Survey Asks Fans to Help Shape Series' Future

clvr

For those who say the music is bad, well, the MIDI music in the PS4 version was obviously a let down, but the tracks themselves are very good, especially the battle theme; listen to the orchestral versions, they're on a whole other level.
I agree, though, that for such a sprawling RPG the number of tracks is pretty limited, which makes them kinda grating after a while.

Re: Battlefield 2042 Doesn't Have a Campaign, But It Is Getting a Short Film

clvr

@fR_eeBritney yeah now I'm defending corporations, I just can't with you.
I started out super nice and comprehensive and told you it's ok to have your opinion, but if I tell you why it's a bad one and you insist, what do I have to do?
If you read that as me defending corporations, I'm sorry but your comprehension isn't very good.
I was explaining to you how actual devs have no responsibility on the decision making behind a game, they're just underpaid workers like you and me, and was trying to tell you why "lazy devs" is the pinnacle of ignorance.
But yeah by all means read that as you wish.

The fact you call having actual arguments "You’re nitpicking everyone’s comments because they didn’t explain (in excruciating detail) the reasons for their word choices."
tells me it was a mistake to try and friendly explain why your opinion wasn't well substantiated. I should know better.

Re: Battlefield 2042 Doesn't Have a Campaign, But It Is Getting a Short Film

clvr

@fR_eeBritney is that all you can offer as a reply?
As I said, I don't even like Battlefield, but you just don't know what you are talking about.
Decisions aren't "lazy", they're profit-driven, which is even worse but that's how the world goes.
Management sees that 98% of people buys Battlefield for the MP section, and thus realize the MP section is way more profitable than the SP. Result: SP is cut.

How the hell are devs lazy when the SP you want them to work on doesn't even exist? Surely you get how that makes no sense whatsoever?
You think game companies are places where devs walk in and just create as they please?
Do you think any of the devs actually on the ground has any say in their output?
If you don't know this stuff, just don't talk about it and avoid insulting the hard work of underpaid and mistreated workers, please.

Re: Battlefield 2042 Doesn't Have a Campaign, But It Is Getting a Short Film

clvr

@Ambassador_Kong yes dude, it's laziness, that's exactly the word for it πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‘

It's not mismanagement or one of infinite other things that can go wrong, no, it's the individual devs working on a single mesh each who are lazy and spend all day on their phone and taking naps because they don't have bosses managing their work, that's why when Splatoon 2 shipped there were only 2 lines of code.
Yeah, this certainly makes a lot of sense! Boy are a you funny one πŸ˜‚

Re: Battlefield 2042 Doesn't Have a Campaign, But It Is Getting a Short Film

clvr

@fR_eeBritney and people who understand this better than you are trying to explain to you that your perception is wrong; there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! If every perception was the same, we'd be all experts on everything.

It's just that what you said, while valid as your perception, is factually wrong.
You cite SP games with tacked-on MP modes, but they're games that have nothing to do with Battlefield (they're not even in the same genre), and that trend has been dying for a decade, which is when MP became the main source of revenue (and thus focus) of big companies.
COD only offers a campaign (when it does) because it's expected, not because it sells copies; the vast, vast majority of people buy it to play with friends.

I don't play Battlefield so I don't know first hand, but saying a AAA dev team is lazy is simply sacrilegous. Also, I don't get why a MP game should cost less or require less creativity, I don't even know where to begin with that.

Oh and I'm a single player only guy, I very rarely play multiplayer, even less so online.
That doesn't mean I didn't get my money's worth with Splatoon 2 for example, which sorta has a single player thing but that's an extra at best. It's an MP game, why should I expect quality SP like that of BOTW or Dishonored or whatever? That'd be on me, not on the game.
You gotta understand that different games have different priorities and goals.

Re: Ariana Grande Will Headline Huge Fortnite Concert This Weekend

clvr

@Northern_munkey no offence taken whatsoever, sorry if I gave you that impression! I just wanted to clear that out because I've seen some confusion about it multiple times over the internet πŸ˜ƒ
Btw I'm not familiar with this blackface thing either, I always assumed she was of South American descent, given her last name. I'm not well versed in pop stars lol πŸ˜†

Re: Ariana Grande Will Headline Huge Fortnite Concert This Weekend

clvr

@Northern_munkey Idk if she's Italian or not, nor do I know anything about what @Arnna said, but I can say for certain that we Italians are mostly white, although of course nowadays we're way more integrated with other ethnicities just like the rest of the world. I don't understand why Americans are confused about that: what they call "white" comes from us Europeans, as opposed to "black" having lineage from Africa and "hispanic" from South America. Simple as that.
I know that 100 years ago Italians and Irish were not considered white cause they weren't protestants, but that has everything to do with dehumanization and nothing to do with ethnicity, and it's high time Americans get a grip on that.
Hope it clears things up a bit!

@Spiders great comment!

Re: PES Renamed eFootball, Confirmed to Be Free-to-Play

clvr

1) that's gotta be the ugliest infographic I've ever seen;

2) I guess I won't play football games anymore: I hate the F2P/seasonal nonsense model because it basically adds up to nickel and diming the player for every single part of the game, and FIFA, well...it's FIFA.

Re: There's No Save Transfer At All in DOOM Eternal on PS5

clvr

@rjejr ahahahah that's quite a peculiar stance, but I guess I get where you're coming from ahahahah πŸ˜„

I also really like 3D platformers and curse the day the industry collectively decided to move past them, but hey we're seeing some kind of resurgence these laste few years, so fingers crossed for the future.

That said, I get the mobility angle because I didn't really fall in love with FPS games until I started playing so-called "boomer shooters" and wondering to myself why they don't make them anymore. Again.
And again these last few years a lot of indies started pumping out retro-inspired FPS games following the release of DOOM 2016, and now mobility and fast paced action are coming back to FPS games, after 10+ years of cowering behind cover waiting for the strawberry jam to slowly drip away from the borders of the screen.

So yeah, I'm not sure if that can help, maybe FPS games are just not your cup of tea πŸ˜ƒ
I for one don't really like Uncharted-style games, but I get why they're good at what they do, they're just not for me πŸ˜ƒ

TL;DR: try DOOM 2016 and/or Eternal, those do in fact have a double jump!
Lol πŸ˜†

Re: There's No Save Transfer At All in DOOM Eternal on PS5

clvr

@rjejr I don't know man, KB+M might actually be part of the reason!
I kinda did the opposite to you, in the sense that growing up on Nintendo consoles I didn't really try them out and thought they were stupid, then I started branching out a bit on my PS3 and the first games I tried were the three Bioshock games (which I'm replaying at the moment on Switch, coincidentally; boy do I love this series lol), which drew me in thanks to their settings compared to the more boring COD etc..
I didn't expect it but I was thoroughly hooked, and now FPS games are among my absolute favorites even though I cannot use KB+M lol
So my advice would be to find the FPS that looks the most interesting to you, try it out and then see if it's worth it to you; if it is, you'll no doubt adapt to the dual stick control scheme.
If you want advice for your entry FPS, by all means tell me and I'd be glad to help you find it πŸ˜ƒ

@Blacksmith1985 you're super welcome mate!
Every person I manage to "convert" to DOOM is a win in my book πŸ˜„
By all means, let me know if you enjoy it!

Re: There's No Save Transfer At All in DOOM Eternal on PS5

clvr

@Blacksmith1985 that's actually a great talking point!

So, I'm a huge DOOM fan and I've watched almost all the streams the director (Hugo Martin, one of the most precious being on this planet) did of the game, and he is adamant that the game was always meant to be beaten with a standard controller, which is why he plays on Nightmare on a standard XBox controller with the X-axis inverted.

As for me, I got a PC a year and a half ago so I'm new to PC gaming; in any case, I've never used M+KB and can't learn it for the life of me, so I'm the one peasant who plays FPS games on PC with a gyro-enabled controller lol πŸ˜‚

The gyro certainly helps with smaller adjustments, but I gotta say that even without it, the game is doable.
I mean I'm not a super hardcore gamer, I'm usually not really good at games, but even I managed to overcome a lot of levels on Nightmare, some Master Levels and even the DLC.
If you take some time to understand the game and get better, you'll get there and have a freaking awesome time in the process.
I know that I've spent months playing only that, and it was amazing.
Also, there's an awesome community online and a load of Doomtubers explaining techs, strategies etc, so check them out if you're curious!
Have a great day!

Re: GTA 6 Out in 2025 with Fortnite-Like Evolving Map, Leaker Claims

clvr

@TheFrenchiestFry that's the impossibly optimistic scenario though πŸ˜›

I expect that we'll still get the same boring open world with nothing interactive in it, and a main character with the responsiveness and dexterity of a plank of wood, but I hope I'm wrong.
If they go from GTAV clunkiness (is that a word?) to BOTW's dynamic... everything, well, I'll eat my hat and buy 10 copies like the British seem to enjoy doing on a weekly basis lol πŸ˜†

Re: Ubisoft Forced to Remove Incredible GoldenEye 007 Maps in Far Cry 5

clvr

@OthmaneAD I already said that I don't expect them to have a legal battle, that was never my point. Point is they didn't have to comply, since nothing actually illegal is being done, even less so by Ubisoft itself.

"Be reasonable", said the dude who came barging in insulting me while not getting the point. The irony.

Regarding the last point, which has nothing to do with the discussion at hand, if you can't distinguish that the conversation about a game's quality and the conversation about its monetization are two different things, well, that doesn't surprise me.
Also, saying that MTX implementation has no impact on gameplay is naΓ―ve at best, and very often verifiable wrong.

Reply to your heart's content but know that I won't be wasting any more time with you, since your idea of interacting with people is straight up insult them right away.
Have a good night.

Re: Ubisoft Forced to Remove Incredible GoldenEye 007 Maps in Far Cry 5

clvr

@OthmaneAD wow, that has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read.
Guess I should praise Napoleon as well, given his contribution to the history of France, the country that gave us Ubisoft. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

It's obviously great that there's an editor in the first place, and as others have pointed out Ubisoft finds themselves between a rock and a hard place, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the dΓ©bΓ’cle at hand: they don't have to remove that content, they're not obligated.

Btw companies are not your friends, it's not healthy to have that mindset that you should be grateful towards them, especially if you're gonna be a j*rk to random people on the internet you know nothing about to defend them. Who the f*ck are you to call me bullsh*t and tell me what I say or don't about companies?
You need a Kit-Kat mate?

@Richnj yeah, let's hope LegalEagle makes a video on this, it's a weird situation indeed!
Great breakdown btw πŸ‘πŸ»

Re: Ubisoft Forced to Remove Incredible GoldenEye 007 Maps in Far Cry 5

clvr

This is beyond appalling.
The dude used assets that were in Far Cry, he didn't steal or copy anything from GoldenEye.
I'm pretty sure they have no legal grounds to do this as he hasn't stolen assets or anything, just recreated the level design (which I think isn't subject to copyright, but of course I might be wrong on this whole thing).

F*ck MGM. F*ck Ubisoft who bows to this crap.
F*ck corporations.

Re: PS5, PS4's Elden Ring Is 'Very Difficult But Can Be Handled'

clvr

I'm not a Soulslike fan as I've only played ~30 hours of DS1 and never even got close to beating it cause I got stuck in an early dungeon, so I'm the opposite of an elitist.

That said, I totally get where fans come from when they oppose an easy mode: it would kinda defeat the purpose of the whole game.
It's not meant to be a fantasy RPG walk through the park, it's meant to be punishing and that's exactly what it is.

Diluting the point of the game for the sake of inclusivity would be a huge shame; I'm always for artistic integrity, even if the result isn't for me.
DS definitely is not for me, but asking for an easy mode just because I'm not good enough would be just as selfish as the "git gud" elitists you find around, if not worse.

Oh and btw I terribly suck at this games but I managed several bossfights, it's not like it's impossible; the game also gives you EXP and summons to counter the high difficulty so it's not like you're left to your own devices.
If DS games really wanted to be "git gud" heaven, they wouldn't feature those "crutches" for less experienced players (see Sekiro).

Re: Poll: Did E3 2021 Suck?

clvr

@Col_McCafferty I love that opening prophecy cause it shows how little self-awareness you have.

Still waiting to see any of that happen in this comment section...outside of your own comment of course lol πŸ˜‰

Re: Bethesda Apologises to PS5, PS4 Fans 'P*ssed' at Exclusivity

clvr

@TheFrenchiestFry yeah the hypocrisy in this comment section is absolutely palpable.

I mean there's people actively hoping for TES VI to be bad, rather than just buy it on a different platform and enjoy something they like πŸ˜‚
How can people be so tribalistic about consoles and games I will never get πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Re: Psychonauts 2 Will Also Release on PS4 This August

clvr

The butthurt around Game Pass on this site is becoming incredibly petty and unbearable.
If you love PS so much and are against GP, why fill your mouth with this nonsense? Just buy the game when it comes out and be happy, since you prefer it that way πŸ˜ƒ

Re: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Won't Have Microtransactions

clvr

@Breezy141 that wasn't the point; I've seen the announcements.
"They still make other games" is not a point, sorry.
I'm fine with superhero games and everything existing, but nowadays it's like there's a superhero everywhere: games, movies, series, everywhere Marvel, DC, The Boys, Invincible...I find it a bit much personally, can I?
I find it annoying cause I never said these things are bad, I'm just saying I'm tired of this oversaturation; nonetheless, my opinion must be countered cause it offends superhero fans.

Re: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Won't Have Microtransactions

clvr

I opened with "this is a personal rant" in order to avoid the kind of defensive reply like @ShadowofSparta's, which I find very annoying and hypocritical, but it seems that that isn't enough.
Me tired of 10 years of Marvel everywhere is an abhorrent opinion, but you disliking my opinion in the same way is okay?
Telling me to ignore Marvel content while not ignoring my take is kinda funny.

I'm glad for the fans who can play and enjoy the games, of course, I'm not taking anything away from anyone.

Can I just say I'd rather devs make projects they created and are passionate about, rather than phoned-in tie-ins which will remain as footnotes in gaming history?
I'm sure GOTG will be good and Eidos will love working on it, don't get me wrong, but how much creative risk can you take with a huge licensed franchise compared to your own IP?
Or are we arguing that Marvel's Avengers was time better spent than Tomb Raider?

Re: 4D FPS Lemnis Gate Activates 3rd August on PS5, PS4

clvr

Wow, now that you've broken i down it actually sounds cool as hell!
I'm not into multiplayer games (I'm terrible at those lol) but I might try this one out if the execution is up to snuff.

It's just unfortunate that such an interesting concept is so hard to convey; as you said, I came away from the trailer pretty disappointed as it doesn't explain the game very well.

Re: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Won't Have Microtransactions

clvr

Ok this one is a bit of a personal rant: I'm so tired of these movie franchises being everywhere.
I don't like superheroes at all, so this Marvel infested era really is starting to grate me a bit after 10+ years of superheroes everywhere, but that's not the main point.

The main point is that we already have great and beloved video game franchises, we don't need another boatload of Marvel/DC games every freaking year, especially if they give it to Eidos instead of having them work on Deus Ex, a new IP or something they want, whatever that may be.

I play videogames because I like videogames, and videogames already have their own series and mythos. Don't take that away just to give rabid Marvel fan the zillionth project with the same characters.
I mean, don't Marvel fans ever get tired? Don't they like something else too from time to time? Lol

Re: Elden Ring Combat, Open World, and Story All Detailed

clvr

Sounds exactly like every other Souls game then.
It's certainly gonna be good, not doubting that, but I'm not a big fan of Souls games and From has been making those for almost 15 years now. I expected some kind of shakeup, but it's still way too early to rule that out.
For now, though, it sounds a little underwhelming.
