Re: No More Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Planned After Phantom Liberty

@Ukpukk ok dude, you have already decided that I'm wrong and my opinion isn't valid cause I went in with a negative mindset, ok. Never mind that I'd been super hyped for CP2077 as my comment history can confirm.
You seem like a nice guy and I don't wanna sound rude but I'm having a really hard time having a serious discussion with you to be perfectly honest, seeing as you're dealing in "if's" and not what actually happened.
Have a good one.

Re: No More Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Planned After Phantom Liberty

@Ukpukk I'm not sure why you keep assuming things, but I did not play it at launch. I played it on my Series X after the 1.5 patch dropped, so I managed to play it at a (mostly) stable frame rate, which let me assess the game at its best, and I still came away thoroughly disappointed.
I liked it, don't get me wrong, I never said it's a bad game, but it's a pretty lousy RPG, that's what I'm saying.
But ok, if you insist I missed out on something I'm sure you are the one in the right 👍🏻

Regarding the last point, erm, no, CP2077 wasn't that well received. Push Square for example gave it a 3.
Prey wasn't as well received as it should've mainly because of the name and the expectations that went with it, it's pretty well documented.
Lastly, I don't put much stock at all in reviews, I find analyses and critiques to be much more useful in assessing the actual quality of a game. A review, by its short format nature, can't amount to much more than an advice on whether a game, intended as a product, is worth buying to you or not, while a critique's job is to analyze a game and its design in a much deeper way, as the piece of art it is.
Check out the numerous retrospectives on Prey online and you'll see that the consensus is that it's a mistreated masterpiece that deserved better reception.
If you don't want to, trust me, I've spent who knows how many hours indulging in Prey-related content.
Also Prey was never, like Arkane's other games, meant to have mass appeal like CP2077 was always supposed to, and that entails, as is often the case, that CP2077 is a much shallower and less focused game.

Re: No More Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Planned After Phantom Liberty

@gollumb82 I haven't played Mass Effect nor the new AC games, so I cannot comment on those. The things you say about AC though sound to me like they would be rather poor RPG's.
It's not that if everyone calls them RPG's then they're automatically good RPG's, that's a non-sequitur.
Excited for you to play Prey, hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Have fun!

Re: No More Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Planned After Phantom Liberty

clvr

@Ukpukk I said it sold gangbusters, which means it sold a lot. How you managed to gather the exact opposite from that is beyond me, seriously.

I'm not denying myself anything, as I've played CP2077, so I'm not sure what you're hinting at.

And yeah, Prey is a masterpiece, by virtue of being one of the best immersive sims of all time.
Cyberpunk, though, for as much as it would like to also be an immersive sim, is an RPG, so I'm not sure what you're comparing them for. They're different games from different genres.

Re: No More Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Planned After Phantom Liberty

clvr

@gollumb82 and is it the fans' fault that the main (and for 14+ months only) version was a disaster? At this point you're just sounding apologetic simply because you like the game.

As for the rest, I am into cyberpunk and I found the setting and some of the worldbuilding (along with the writing in general) to be by far the best parts of the game.
The game being average is not subjective though, you just have to compare it to other games on the market in the same genre and you'll see that CP2077, as an RPG, falls flat on its face. It's a decent action adventure game, but the RPG systems are quite poorly implemented and in deep conflict with all the other systems they wanted to put in the game to make it the definitive game. It doesn't work as an RPG, nor as an immersive sim, nor as a GTA clone, and that's exactly because they tried to do all of it at once.
Lastly, I found the game to be well written, but philosophical in any way? Absolutely not. This game to me is exactly the kind of mindless entertainment you're talking about, nothing more than that. It had a few interesting themes, but nothing really deep.
As you said, heavier games tend to not sell well because they put the average person off, but this game sold gangbusters and is widely appreciated by a lot of "casual" gamers, so I'm not sure where you take that from.

Re: No More Cyberpunk 2077 Expansions Planned After Phantom Liberty

clvr

@gollumb82 can you blame those you call "fans" for slighting it though?
It was hyped up to be this revolutionary game to end all games, and in the end all we got was an incredibly buggy, broken mess, and underneath it an average at best RPG with conflicting game design philosophies that make it less than the sum of its parts.

Re: Rick and Morty Explore the Nine Realms in God of War Ragnarok Promo

clvr

@Akurusu well, entertaining doesn't mean anything goes. I like things that are structured to make sense and have some kind of logic to them, not this kind of random BS thrown together because "A: popular, B: popular, then A+B: mega popular".
If you thought "but it's entertainment" was a gotcha, I'm sorry but it isn't.

Also you don't have to worry about me, I just finished my shift and I'm gonna have a whale of a time with Elden Ring, but thanks regardless 😘

Re: You're All Wrong! GTA 6 Won't Have the Franchise's First Female Protagonist

clvr

I always find it amazing how the people calling for "leaving the devs alone to create the game they wanna make" are without fail the same people complaining about "forced diversity".
So if it's dudes all around it's a creative choice, but if there is even just one woman or POC it suddenly means they "bowed down to the woke crowd"? Talk about double standards!

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part 1 Really a 'Cash Grab'?

clvr

It's so funny seeing fanboys tripping over themselves to move the goalposts further and further in order to justify splashing 70 (insert currency here) for this completely unnecessary remake, which costs more than the other two (!) already existing versions cost at launch, without even including the multiplayer.

"It's not a cash grab because it's Naughty Dog and they make polished stuff!"

"No, ALL games are cash grabs cause they exist to make money!"

"Wait...EVERYTHING is made to make money, therefore everything is a cash grab!"

Never change 😂

Re: Hands On: Destruction AllStars' Improvements Tease PS5's Live Service Future

clvr

@Gunnerzaurus dude it's not hard to understand, you can do it.
I said I'd rather spend 20€ on the game and earn my cosmetics in-game, than have it free to play with tons of monetization, so where do you take it that I'm not interested in cosmetics? What are you even going on about?

I just pointed out how the rotation of cosmetics is a direct result of a monetization method I despise, and that I preferred the game when it was paid for.

Re: Hands On: Destruction AllStars' Improvements Tease PS5's Live Service Future

clvr

@get2sammyb it's true that you don't have to, but everything about BP is clearly made to instill FOMO in people, in order to extort their money.
Otherwise, why show me things I've "unlocked", only to then tell me I have to upgrade in order to use them?

I've been playing Fall Guys recently and boy was it better when it was paid for. I'd rather pay 20€ for that game and have a store with in-game currency where I can just buy my Doomguy costume, instead of having a terrible-looking character over whose appearance I have little to no control, depending on the whims of the shop and the BP to decide for me what cosmetics can and cannot be earned.

Re: Best FPS Games on PS5

clvr

No Shadow Warrior 3? It may be AA, unfunny and a bit jank, but the combat mechanics put to shame every single one of the games on the list, except DOOM Eternal (from which it borrows heavily).
I mean, even Borderlands is in here for Pete's sake, and that series is just terrible on every level.

Re: Massive Street Fighter 6 Leaks Acknowledged by Capcom

clvr

@RevGaming no, but you said it beat out TLOU Part 2 in the sales department, and that's factually untrue.
Are you that dense that you don't even know the points you yourself make anymore?

And no, I own a Switch, PS4, Series X and gaming laptop, so I would say no; if anything I'm more of a Nintendo fan, and I don't even like TLOU 1 or 2 in the slightest.
But of course you would think that, cause you're too small-minded to think that someone would argue in terms of facts instead of whatever narrative suits them.

Re: Massive Street Fighter 6 Leaks Acknowledged by Capcom

clvr

@RevGaming "Would have sold more lol."

Oh ok, so you reply to facts with your clairvoyance, fantastic 👍🏻
Something told me that pointing things out to you would be useless, but you're even more stubborn than I thought.
Boy do I hate arguing with people who have no arguments but still think they're right.

Re: Massive Street Fighter 6 Leaks Acknowledged by Capcom

clvr

@RevGaming ah yes, that small game that still garnered perfect scores across the board and sold 4 million copies in the first weekend alone (becoming PS's fastest-selling exclusive) was definitely hurt by the leaks.
Man you gotta stop talking out of your bum-hole, seriously.

Re: Video: Why Prey Is Arkane's Best Game

clvr

@TJ81 @themightyant is correct, I read a statement by Arkane some time ago that said just that, they tried but unfortunately couldn't implement it in a satisfying way.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Re: Poll: As God of War Turns Four, What Would You Rate It Today?

clvr

A game with superfluous systems like GOW's loot and RPG-style levels cannot be a 10/10.
Also, a game based around combat where the camera is at odds with the action, and where you don't have full control over your character (see the "'magnetism" towards enemies Kratos has when attacking) is not a great action game.
To sum up, it suffers from exactly the same flaws other PS exclusives like TLOU or UC do: it's a good experience, certainly super well-made from a presentation standpoint, but not a great game, as mechanics are secondary and not that well considered, which is the reason why I'm baffled when I hear people tout these games as the pinnacle of gaming.

Re: Best Action Games on PS5

clvr

@RevGaming again, it's a ranking determined by the readers of a PlayStation site, so of course it's gonna skew more towards popular games and PS exclusives.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just not that surprising in my opinion.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Takes the Most Trophies at DICE Awards 2022

clvr

Such little love for Inscryption makes me sad, that was by far my GOTY last year. Nothing really comes even close to that.
And no nomination for Dread's animations and action? Absolutely crazy. Not saying it should've won both (or any), but at least be nominated cause it has some of the smoothest animations and gameplay I've ever played.
