Re: Massive Street Fighter 6 Leaks Acknowledged by Capcom

clvr

@RevGaming ah yes, that small game that still garnered perfect scores across the board and sold 4 million copies in the first weekend alone (becoming PS's fastest-selling exclusive) was definitely hurt by the leaks.
Man you gotta stop talking out of your bum-hole, seriously.

Re: Video: Why Prey Is Arkane's Best Game

clvr

@TJ81 @themightyant is correct, I read a statement by Arkane some time ago that said just that, they tried but unfortunately couldn't implement it in a satisfying way.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Re: Poll: As God of War Turns Four, What Would You Rate It Today?

clvr

A game with superfluous systems like GOW's loot and RPG-style levels cannot be a 10/10.
Also, a game based around combat where the camera is at odds with the action, and where you don't have full control over your character (see the "'magnetism" towards enemies Kratos has when attacking) is not a great action game.
To sum up, it suffers from exactly the same flaws other PS exclusives like TLOU or UC do: it's a good experience, certainly super well-made from a presentation standpoint, but not a great game, as mechanics are secondary and not that well considered, which is the reason why I'm baffled when I hear people tout these games as the pinnacle of gaming.

Re: Best Action Games on PS5

clvr

@RevGaming again, it's a ranking determined by the readers of a PlayStation site, so of course it's gonna skew more towards popular games and PS exclusives.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just not that surprising in my opinion.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Takes the Most Trophies at DICE Awards 2022

clvr

Such little love for Inscryption makes me sad, that was by far my GOTY last year. Nothing really comes even close to that.
And no nomination for Dread's animations and action? Absolutely crazy. Not saying it should've won both (or any), but at least be nominated cause it has some of the smoothest animations and gameplay I've ever played.

Re: Never Stop Moving in Post Void, Out on PS5 and PS4 This Spring

clvr

This one is good folks.
Incredibly hard but really addicting, even though you won't be able to play it for more than 10 minutes at a time lol

But seriously though, if it piques your interest by all means get it!
I'm super surprised it's coming to consoles, I never would've thought it would!

Re: Soapbox: Sony Is Making More Live Service Games for PS5, PS4, And I'm Excited

clvr

"Why wouldn’t you want more of what you like?"

Because not everything needs to last forever, especially single player games.
A good 10-hour experience with a discrete beginning, middle and end is way more worth it to me than a bloated 100-hour one.
I recently beat Prey and it's already one of my all-time favorites, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't have gladly shaven off a couple of hours from the last third.
It made me exhausted and had me playing the last stretch all frantically, as opposed to my glacial approach to this kind of game, just because I felt I had seen enough and wanted to see the end. It dragged, and it dragged hard, and I'm sure I would've loved the game even more if it had a cleaner ending.

It always comes down to what the game is: some games do benefit from being "endless", but let's not fool ourselves and pretend that grafting useless crap can only do good and never hurt a game.

And that's not even touching the fact that there are too many games and too little time.

Re: Looks Like Detective Game Paradise Killer Is Coming to PS5

clvr

By all means play this game, it's absolutely amazing!
The only "real" detective game I've ever played, where you have to come up with theories on your own and the game actually accepts them.
Not to mention the lore is super interesting, even if it can be a bit daunting at first to understand how Paradise works.

Re: Apex Legends Dev Respawn Making Three Star Wars Games, Including FPS and Jedi Fallen Order Sequel

clvr

3?! Seriously, what's wrong with this industry?! As if we needed such a great team to be stifled by a license.
Let them create their own stuff instead of this licensed crap, for goodness's sake.
I really hate how prevalent licensed games are becoming, as if we needed any more homogeneity in our entertainment.

Edit: oh and the absolute worst thing is people defending it. Not those who are happy, if you're a SW fan this is awesome news and I'm glad for you; but those rushing to justify this crap by going "well, you know, development costs this and pre-existing IP that".
I get that and it's true, but let's not joke around, we're talking EA here, not a sweatshop on a shoestring budget.
Since when fans have turned into shareholders? What do you get by defending a corporation you're just a puny number to?
It's just said how people are indoctrinated into accounting for this kind of crap, instead pf just wishing for a good game.

Re: Hitman Trilogy Bundles All Games on PS5, PS4 As IO Interactive Adds New Modes

clvr

@themightyant yeah, the only real flaw it has is that I cannot experience it with fresh eyes for a second time lol
But if you haven't played the DLC I cannot recommend it enough!
Just be warmed that it's spooooky ahahhaha
No but seriously, it gave me the single biggest fright I've ever experienced in a game! Utterly brilliant stuff!

What I would give to be able to re-experience it for the first time!

@get2sammyb no I meant Echoes Of The Eye, Outer Wilds' DLC

Re: Hitman Trilogy Bundles All Games on PS5, PS4 As IO Interactive Adds New Modes

clvr

@themightyant I thought exactly the same thing lol
Though to be honest I don't blame good old Ralph since Outer Wilds is the absolute G.O.A.T. and nothing even comes close.

Edit: oh and I definitely recommend Hitman if you find the time, I've only played the first one so far but it's amazing.

@get2sammyb On this topic, did any of you at PS HQ ever review the DLC?

Re: GTA Online Update Reduces Texts from Contacts, Adds Over 300 Clothing Items

clvr

Recently I tried getting into the Online, and desisted in like 30 minutes.
Everything's just so bloated, clunky and overcomplicated, I just don't get how people put up with this crap.
And it's a shame too, cause there'd be quite a lot to do if the game was structured, y'know, like a game.
It's probably just me, but so many things about GTAV and Online baffle me, gameplay wise.

Re: Would You Kindly Read This Rumour About BioShock Isolation?

clvr

@Col_McCafferty so anyone who doesn't agree with you is "edgy"? Wow, the maturity!

For the record, I'm a huge Bioshock fan, but @nessisonett's point are absolutely fair.
Infinite (and I repeat: I like that game) was just a huge mess of misplaced ambitions and a hodgepodge of too many ideas, all of which were poorly developed.

Re: Best GTA Games

clvr

Probably the most overrated series ever.
I mean they're good games (at least the ones I've played), but their perceived quality is blown way out of proportion by non-enthusiasts who think video games are limited to this, and by the fact that the first games were pretty raunchy and controversial for the time.

If you take that out of the equation, GTA V for example is nothing more than an averagely fun game with clunky controls and barely serviceable shooting, but also awesome writing and arcade-y driving, that nonetheless got old after 15 hours or so of playtime.

Re: Saints Row Gameplay Shows Combat and Chaotic Cop Chases

clvr

@Daveuppercut so much this.

These sandbox open world games are such a slog nowadays, they basically still play like they did on PS2. You basically drive, shoot, drive some more, shoot again.
The only thing I don't get is why is everyone ganging up on SR but not GTA? Why is GTA V still considered a 10/10 by many people, if so many are quick to point out how little the envelop has been pushed.
Not referring to you or anyone specific, mind you, I'm just using your comment as a jumping point to express this perceived disparity.

Regarding this game, I still don't get why it's called Saints Row. It looks fine, I'm not hating on it like a lot of people are, but it's just so bland and sterile.
Everything from the UI to the setting has nothing to do with the previous over the top aesthetic of SR, in my opinion. It looks tame.

The Mexican-styled setting, though is pretty cool, for as much as it doesn't really scream Saints Row to me.

Re: Mini Review: Quake (PS4) - New Coat of Paint for Legendary FPS

clvr

@wiiware as the commenter above pointed out, it's absolutely doable on a controller 😃
I've been playing it since it was out on my Switch and having such an awesome blast!
By the way the new version includes aim assist and gyro aiming (both "togglable" on and off), so there's a lot more leeway than just your dexterity with the right stick 😃
Can't recommend this enough to anyone who likes old school shooters!

Re: There's Not a Single PS5, PS4 Game in the Japanese Sales Charts

clvr

@Agramonte I get your point and I don't think you're completely off-base, but I think you're exaggerating the percentage of enthusiasts like us on this site who like to play a lot of different games.
If we look at the sales charts, I think what emerges is that both markets are stagnant and repetitive, it's just that Japanese stagnation looks anime while Western stagnation looks edgy.
You're certainly right about the Japanese playing fewer Western games than we do Japanese, though.

Re: There's Not a Single PS5, PS4 Game in the Japanese Sales Charts

clvr

@Agramonte "is a Stagnant / Monotone market. The rest of the industry moved on instead of "Catering" to it. "

Ah yes, the super varied Western market moved on to greener pastures, like having GTA, Minecraft, COD and FIFA in the top 10 of every country every week. Now that's what I call a diverse market!
