silly question but what is the performance currently? I have no issues with the fps so am I playing it with quality mode at the moment and this update will keep the fps but up the resolution? Or am I currently playing in 30fps and this will give me a 60fps option?
@themightyant This is a decent response. I don't ever understand why so much hate for a game that someone (and its a fair opinion) doesn't like. This is a game. A toy. A plaything. A form of entertainment. Perspective is certainly required in these circumstances. I read the news yesterday about the young lad who was killed by the wife of an American diplomat who doesn't have to face justice because...well who knows, very sad to read but then come onto this site and people are in uproar at the injustice of a public vote turning out against their own thoughts. Baffling.
@Medic_Alert Ha - I think I just now take the quality of the game for granted. Started playing next gen PS5 games and my first impression so far is it looks no where near as impressive visually as Last of Us. Forgetting the story side which is the cause of all the arguments, technically Naughty Dog are geniuses. I can't wait to see what they will do with the PS5. I'm hoping for some new IP to surprise us all.
@Gamer83 It sounds like for you, and many others, there needs to be a category around most fun game of the year. What does Ultimate Game of the Year go to? LOU2 is probably my favourite game since the first one, however I agree with the fun part. I was hooked but it wasn't all fun. Reminds me of a lot of films I enjoy that aren't fun but extremely gripping. Would say 1917 is my film of the year but fun it was not, just very intense which is probably why I liked this game so much. Having such a category may also relax more people as if GoT was most fun game of the year then more people was be accommodating for LOU winning game of the year?
My first impressions were that its wasn't as bad a design/size as first thought. Fits fine into the tv stand slot, something the Series X won't be able to do when I finally get one (a first world problem I'm sure I'll figure out). Won't say much on Astrobot as it's already been said. Think @Medic_Alert said it best - we need a full game eventually.
Love the fast loading. Valhalla fast travel takes seconds. I'd never bother using this otherwise. Already this gen the loading is something I didn't realise how much I wanted improving but obviously did.
Not seen any console bugs yet, however I do have a flaky charge on my cable. Sometimes it charges sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes its charging in rest mode at 1 bar and the next morning its gone to 2 bars. Have tried the back USB and it doesn't charge at all. That's my only gripe so far.
So is he saying he talks cr@p on his social media thingies and its not to be believed? Then whats the point of reading anything he says. Going to have to de-list/friend/gram him now. Such a shame.
Don't think its about defending EA necessarily but more what a different opinion I have as a bog standard simpleton. If I had myself as a character in a game I would love it and be proud, but people with more money than they could count have the first thought of money, money, money. It's just something that's difficult to relate to.
I had this and was thinking I'd need to get a new controller but looks like there's a simple option. Will buy the charge stand once its back in stock as wanted one anyway. Assuming the ps4 one doesn't work with ps5 controllers
Played an hour of it with the kids and we all agreed it was to go to the bottom of our backlog to maybe try again when it gets and updated version for PS6
Thanks the the PS5's new 'time played' details I can confirm this is the first AC game I've managed to play more than a couple of hours. That should be put on their marketing....."Finally played for more than a few hours and didn't delete it - StonyK"
So when is the inevitable Demon Souls price drop? Waiting for the sub £20 before I bite. Assuming the Watchdogs rise is because of the price drop to £35 on PS4 (with free upgrade to PS5). I was almost tempted. Almost. But went with Valhalla as it reviewed a lot better and will keep me occupied for a while longer hopefully. One thing I have noted, however, is Valhalla doesn't really look like a next gen game visually? Not really that impressed as think Last if Us 2 still looks more impressive visually. Do other people think similarly or am I just wrong?
A lot of people complaining that the game is already adequate to tell the story, but I'm imagining that the aim of the series will be to open up the world to other stories.
Why tell Last of us 2 when they can use this world to tell other stories. Possibly even long term cross the characters from the series into the video games and visa-versa. Never really been done like that before but perhaps now's the time to blur that line of entertainment between film and game.
New characters in the series that people respond well to could be used as a basis for the next video game?
Its the way of the world right now. Took me 7 months to get hold of the bike I was after which involved getting email stock alerts, going straight to the website to be told out of stock again.
@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L I watched my tracker like a hawk too as was listening to music and wanted to know when to stop it for the doorbell if driver was near. The driver basically opened my front door came in and put it down then walked off without acknowledging my existence. Very strange experience. But didn't care after I plugged the machine up and got it running fine. Must add I didn't like the stand thing. Seemed a bit flimsy to me.
I don't think people saying it saves you $70 are necessarily correct. If you you were going to purchase a $70 and it comes on game pass then great, you saved that $70 but you spent $120 a year or more for it. You also won't get the majority of games you want on there. I certainly there is merit for both types of service. If you only buy 2 games a year and they are Fifa and COD then game pass is a terrible service that will cost you $120 a year, plus the $140 you spend on the 2 games you bought. If you want to play a variety of games but not bothered what they are then Game Pass is an amazing service and may save you some dosh you may have spent elsewhere. It feels like one is aiming for Quality while the other aims for Quantity. I hope to have both to get Quality and Quantity.
My order is through Amazon. Says it'll come today but doesn't have any estimated time. I've set in my head that my work day will end the minute it arrives. I expect it to turn up 10pm then!
@Paranoimia Hasn't all releases been the same autumn period previously? Perhaps they wanted to release autumn 2021 instead. First quarter of a new year after xmas feels wrong for some reason.
Do think the complaining is a bit ott. Games have always been this sort of price, from paying £60 for Mario All Starts on the Snes to £100 price of Street Fighter 2 back in 1993. I couldn't resist paying £55 for Battlefield IV on PS4 when it came out as wasn't much else to play. Only played a few hours of it because it was rubbish. Since then you can pick it up for a few quid. Won't make that mistake again! I reckon this generation won't be as painful either as it'll be easy enough to finish PS4 backlogs or buy cheap PS4 games while waiting for the prices to come down for PS5 because of the bc aspects.
@MrGawain Different experience for me. I have everything Sony at the moment as they are the only products not to break on me. Have 2 TV's, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, PSV, PSVR, Headphones, Surround Sound System. I did have a Sony laptop but I blame Windows Vista for such poor performance! I don't even believe Sony necessarily are the best for these products but they are just out lasting all other products in my household. I've had 2 MS phones break on me, an Xbox 360 RRD, a Samsung phone break, a Panasonic DVD player break. I just feel burnt by those companies. I haven't bought LG yet so if I ever go 4k 120htz upgrade I may go with them and will be getting the Series X as Xbox last gen appears to have been fine.
the true deal here is to buy the package and sell the PS5 for the $2000 price, getting a free TV and all the accessories. Buy a PS5 in a month or two and you have the lot for the price of a PS5!
With Duo lupo on Fifa and Travis Scott doing this I'm feeling properly out of touch with the kids. Who are these people? Is it time for me to hang up my gaming boots? That's all I've taken away from these news articles. The fact I no longer have to turn the machines on for the kids and they can do it themselves, the fact I have to remind them it's MY machine and the fact they beat my bop it high score last night. I'm not taking this aging game too well today
I love the look of this game but I will never buy it until its under £10. I'm just not that good at gaming to risk paying for it full price. If I buy a game at £70 then that's my gaming purchases done for a few months. If I can't get passed the first boss then I'm a bit boogered...
@ShogunRok lol. I've said for a while now, if I could be any footballer it would be Trent. His age, ability, honours all as good as it gets and the way he struts around the pitch is a dream. All topped off by being featured on Fifa. Does it get better than that
Probably the only person who thinks this but I prefer the look of the PS4 version. The PS5 one looks like it has an orange blur filter in front of it. The reflections are obviously an improvement but I don't think there is much of a graphical upgrade other than object reflections.

will sounds odd but I hope it increases oddball load times. I enjoy this game but its a lot of trial an error involved and attempts can last a few seconds only to wait what feels like ages to have another go. If the load after failure becomes instant I will definitely go back to this.
I don't get all the disappointment on here. Yes I'd like the load to have gone completely but it sounded like that was never going to happen after the Series X reviews. But I'm shocked that digital foundry compared PS5 and Series X last gen games and some of them had the PS5 managing locked 60 fps while Series X couldn't quite do it. I did not expect that - so its not quite all doom and gloom for the PS5 backwards compatibility. Probably would take the extra handful of seconds to have a better performance personally.
If you are down following this review - just go to the digital foundry one and you'll feel a whole lot more optimistic
I'm confused. Is this the crazy expensive storage that everyone baulked at when the details were revealed and no-one was going to buy until the price came down? Now everyone is in uproar because they can't yet use the storage they weren't buying. Who knows, perhaps in 3 months they'll unlock the drive? The next gen is around the corner and everyone sounds miserable?
I expect I will end up with an Xbox eventually, mainly for game pass, but if I don't then I'm expecting a generation without any Bethesda games. Just googled list of Bethesda games I'd have missed out of this gen: Dishonored (couldn't get past an hour of this) Doom (fun but only managed a few hours) Fallout 4 (enjoyed this but not interested in a Fallout 5) Prey (in my backlog) Wolfenstein (noooo.....I love these games. Will definitely miss these)
Maybe I will need an Xbox. I personally can't see why people would jump over to MS as the list of games I would have missed out on PS4 far outweighs this list but there will definitely be a Bethesda hole this upcoming gen....
Disappointing there is no easier option. Bought Bloodborne and I'm just so bad at it that it loses some of its fun. Dying every minute and waiting 2 minutes to try again becomes tiring very quickly. Such a waste of money. I'll definitely try it again on PS5 but it puts me off buying this game, which is a shame as it looks amazing.
Still undecided on what 'next gen' game to buy for when my PS5 turns up. Problem is I need to get GoT and Cyberpunk at the very least so seems foolish to spend full dollar on this day 1 when a little patience will save me a lot of money
wow - can't believe Last of us 2 is third biggest selling game of 2020. I thought it had terrible sales with the massive drop off after first few weeks and hate it was receiving. Glad it's doing well as I absolutely loved this game and I've nearly finished my third play through. And I wonder why I have such a huge backlog!
Can't wait to get GoT and FFVII. Just waiting for the PS5 to arrive first...
It looks to me that when you start up from rest mode your game is displayed on entry in pause mode as the background. It didn't look like there was any action to enter the game as is the case with suspend mode on PS4. Thats pretty cool if its the case. You are basically skipping the whole UI on start up.
Was never interested in this after buying syndicate and finding it very boring and generic. This Nordic mythology direction sounds a lot more interesting
People not excited by this gen are glass half empty people in my opinion. The super fast ssd is not just to introduce fast loading times but to allow a complete rethink in game design according to the developers. Half empty people will think it doesn’t mean anything while half full people are excited by what that change will do to games. The potential for changes to how games are designed may be massive? We don’t know until the games are made. I want to believe!!
@carlos82 Reading on Pure Xbox the impression they are giving is smart delivery will do more than just this. I personally have the opinion that the upgrade will be the same for all third party games and then may differ for 1st party depending on how much they want to give away for free, with MS likely being a little more generous due to the need to impress more this gen.
@theheadofabroom @GKO900 yeah I tend to agree. On Pure Xbox, the MS solution is much more positively accepted, and to some extent rightfully so. It's plug and play. However, if it results in cheaper options in the long term I'd certainly go for the Sony option. Reminds me of the 360 / PS3 days when I bought the cheap 360 options without hard drive and the upgrade was like £100 for 20 Gig or something, then the internal drive I got for my PS3 cost £30 for 320 Gig or something about that. But right now, yes the MS option looks better option.
So they have 99% market share in Spain already but decided to throw a load of money at it to reduce it to 50%. This sounds completely stupid. One of most popular teams also one of the most hated. Sometimes it’s best to avoid such tribal link ups. As immature as it is I have a full list of products I’ll forever refuse to use based on sponsors of old!
far too expensive for me. Until they drop down by about half I won't even consider it. I'll just do some house cleaning every 3 months or so and save me hundreds of £. Not been a problem for me this gen so I can survive without next gen.

Was never interested in this after buying syndicate and finding it very boring and generic. This Nordic mythology direction sounds a lot more interesting
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Promotes 'Great' PS5 Support at Launch
So plays great on both PS5 and Xbox Series X. No mention of Series S?
Re: Devil May Cry 5 Takes Four Seconds to Load on PS5, 22 Seconds on PS4
People not excited by this gen are glass half empty people in my opinion. The super fast ssd is not just to introduce fast loading times but to allow a complete rethink in game design according to the developers.
Half empty people will think it doesn’t mean anything while half full people are excited by what that change will do to games. The potential for changes to how games are designed may be massive? We don’t know until the games are made. I want to believe!!
Re: PS5's Game Boost Feature Will Improve Select PS4 Titles
@carlos82 Reading on Pure Xbox the impression they are giving is smart delivery will do more than just this.
I personally have the opinion that the upgrade will be the same for all third party games and then may differ for 1st party depending on how much they want to give away for free, with MS likely being a little more generous due to the need to impress more this gen.
Re: PS5 Teardown Video Proves Immensely Popular with Huge View Count
@theheadofabroom @GKO900 yeah I tend to agree. On Pure Xbox, the MS solution is much more positively accepted, and to some extent rightfully so. It's plug and play. However, if it results in cheaper options in the long term I'd certainly go for the Sony option.
Reminds me of the 360 / PS3 days when I bought the cheap 360 options without hard drive and the upgrade was like £100 for 20 Gig or something, then the internal drive I got for my PS3 cost £30 for 320 Gig or something about that.
But right now, yes the MS option looks better option.
Re: All PS5 Launch Games
@BansheeNorn important to know, thanks
Re: PlayStation Signs Strategic Partnership with Spanish Football Team Real Madrid
Re: Western Digital Reveals First PS5 Compatible SSD
far too expensive for me. Until they drop down by about half I won't even consider it. I'll just do some house cleaning every 3 months or so and save me hundreds of £. Not been a problem for me this gen so I can survive without next gen.
