@Machines I both agree and disagree with that statement.
Will not be buying a game ever at that ludicrous price even for a well known franchise that I am guaranteed to be happy with - but at the same time I don't want the developer to fail and end up closing like so many others have.
Really hope this game is amazing and people buy it in their droves - I'll just wait until I can afford it myself at a cheaper price

Do believe this line of MS buying everything to shut it down or assimilate it is terrible for the technology industry as a whole, however I own a small company and admit my aim with it is to grow it big enough for one of these large companies to fear it enough to buy it out and shut it down. That would make me enough money to retire and show how successful the company had become!

I will never understand the appeal of Animal Crossing but my kids absolutely love it. The only praise I can give it is its great as incentive for the kids to do their homework and tidy after themselves if they want to be able to play it. Family games of monopoly never has the same appeal!

Glad it sounds like they will keep the general story line but deviate from the game. We've all played the game many times over so we need something a little different. It would probably be awful if they just followed the game story line - which is sort of what Druckman is saying. Trust people who know how to make tv series and not people who play computer games is basically his point.

@Ssimsim I don’t get motion sickness in real world but do quite a bit with PSVR. Real shame as it’s amazing bit of kit but it feels like the resolution is just too much of a blur for me. I’d love to know if improved frame rate and resolution would make all the difference or if VR will always be like this. With Skyrim anything more than a stroll would make me ill for hours after.

Can't wait for this gen of games with instant load times. Feel like I now notice loading screens more than I do visual improvements in games. Perhaps its because I die so much more than most people do? Still great to hear about loading times disappearing!

I didn’t see much wrong with this tbh. I don’t really expect a company to generate hype about a product and focus on negative comments. I wouldn’t watch a Nike advert and get worked up that they didn’t talk about child labour in manufacturing camps in China or such like? Maybe I’ve picked up the wrong end of the stick on this?

The fact this has a potentially interesting story and most likely an excellent gameplay mechanic involved it gives me hope it’ll be a great game. Obviously never buying this at £70 but unless this reviews well I’ll probably wait until PS plus.

The charts really are an odd thing right now. Xbox won’t make much of a dent in sales charts as a lot of people play game pass which will stop them buying new games, or if new games go on game pass, they won’t be included here. Or maybe just me but I won’t buy a game on series x as it may end up on GPU while I’ll likely have to buy PS exclusives (bought MM) to play them.
Would be very interested in how much money a game on game pass makes versus selling x number of copies on the PS5?

Watched a YouTube video comparing red dead 2 to this and it really does make you both feel embarrassed for what CDPR made and absolute awe for what rockstar made. Until they fix the police system, the AI, the bugs, the dodgy physics and the crap immersion then I’m not going to consider it. But they sounds like they need to build an entire game.

Don’t understand why everyone is so hyped for Indiana Jones. Has there been gameplay I’ve missed? I have no idea what type of game it is going to be. Maybe another point and click?

Star field is another one I can’t understand why it will be on the list. No one knows if it’s any good? Elder scrolls, fallout and doom are probably the only ones that will be missed as they are established franchises but how do you miss games that haven’t even been played by anyone ever?

Is there a chance they will stop old games being available to PS store? So all my Wolfenstein and Doom games would no longer be accessible if it was a digital copy? Would they technically be allowed to do that?

to some extent I'm not bothered about which console is better as they are both great - its just a shame MS is stealing games from Sony. Annoyingly all the best games are actually Sony ones so not having a PS is just not an option these days.
PS is great but could really do with them releasing all their games onto PC so I can just buy an Uber PC and be done with consoles. Next Amazon will just go out and buy the remaining decent companies and force us to have to buy all 4 main consoles to fully enjoy our hobby.

@Akurusu possibly but didn’t a halo game release in an utter mess? Not sure if I’m remembering wrong but the halo collection or something was a disaster I thought.
Btw I don’t think you meant this comment for me but just wanted to reply anyway. I don’t really believe MS buying Bethesda will stop the crazy number of bugs their games release with. It’ll likely just be the nature of their games and having a big bad boss ordering less bugs probably won’t help unless they release half the number of games and take twice as long to produce them.

@Martijn87 If GTA V looks proper PS5 gen version with massive visual updates I'll probably end up buying it. Only got about 50% through on PS4 so would be interested in giving it another go. I'm very much ready for an awesome open world game and was hoping Cyberpunk would have been that but it sounds awful and the YouTube Cyberpunk vs GTAV videos make GTA V still look better.

The MS strategy doesn't really affect me as I have both consoles, but it does feel like a nasty way to do things. Sony games feel like they have evolved into great franchises which most Xbox owners have no interest in because they have no history with them, while MS are finding the best IP's they can go for and buying them, and in the process taking them away from PS owners.
I love the Wolfenstein games and if they became exclusive and I only had a PS then I would a right to be angry with MS for making me have to pay for another console while I can't complain that they make Halo or Gears so much because it always been an MS product really.

I'm in the middle of playing Quantum Break on Series X and it is half game half Film and bizarrely quite difficult to watch the film part at times. Not sure what it is but possibly the frame rate is lower than usual film. Whatever it is, sometimes its difficult to watch without feeling nauseous (particularly the fight scenes). Wonder if that could be a difference? Higher frame rate on the video for PS5?

@Matroska perfect snapshot of the world we live in today. Get to play FF7 remake “free” as bonus for online subscription but predictably will be outrage that the PS5 upgrades aren’t given free either. Give an inch they’ll want a mile comes to mind. If they didn’t even release an upgrade no one would complain about their ‘freebie’.

I’m ecstatic I get this game, one I really wanted to play, and don’t have to pay a penny extra for it. Will have to wait though as in middle of Witcher 3...

@Serialsid I agree - its what I loved about the 1st game. Came out about the same time as Interstellar which I felt was a similar story choice at the end. Both protagonists had a choice - sacrifice their daughter (in a sense for Joel) or save the world. Both chose differently and both had to deal with each consequence. Joel dealing with killing many innocent people and being responsible for not saving humanity, while in Interstellar the protagonist had to live knowing he lost his relationship with his daughter.
Had a young daughter at the time and think I'd have probably chosen the Joel option myself (although after home schooling for months now may chose differently ).
But I do like the fact the consequences of those actions take centre stage in the sequel and glad they did. Whether they did a good job is down to personal preference really.

Awesome. Means 3992% more people playing LOU2 of which 50% think its amazing, one of the best games they've every played while the other 50% think its the worst game they've played and feel the need to mention it.
Sounds like everyone has to comment specifically on the story for LOU2 so here's my two cents... its certainly more interesting than Call of Duty, Fifa 21 and Minecraft - but not quite a patch on Animal Crossing. I'm also very angry about Mario Kart story - its terrible. Fact!

Over on 'the other' site there are rumours of this being a MS exclusive. Are there any truths to this. On one hand the selfish in me would think it may mean GPU inclusion, the other would rather play it on PS5 with the DualSense. Hopefully this won't be exclusive though.

This is so disappointing. I played the game 2 years ago and thought I had really enjoyed it, but now this release on PC has meant I didn't actually enjoy it 2 years ago after all. Also means I can't enjoy any other PS game knowing in about 2 or 3 years time it will be on PC. Its why I don't go the cinema anymore as knowing it will be out on disc release with added extras means the big screen experience is rubbish and makes me so mad.

In my protest I'm going to screw Sony with their £450 machine and 2 years advance access to some games and buy myself a £2000 PC and sit waiting 3 years until those PS games turn up. I win Sony!

@sanderson72 I agree its not critical to own one. My logic is while I wait for more PS5 games to come in I'll play all the other games from PS4 I have yet to get through with improved loading, resolution and framerate (in some instances). I'll also likely be paying the same cost as I would have if I bought the PS5 in 2 years time so I end up getting more use out of the system for the same cost - so arguably better value the earlier I own the system.
Thats how I like to think anyway. Helps justify the spending

Must admit if all ps games start appearing on PC along with all MS games already doing so then it’s difficult to justify buying the consoles ahead of a PC as I’ve spent about £1000 on both these machines already. The fact you can still use the controller of choice does make PC a more realistic option long term. Possibly next gen I will end up doing just that

Can understand why people say PS5 is a nice to have but not a must buy. But I must confess I couldn’t go back to PS4 for load times as much as anything. Having 10 second load times on games instead of 60 seconds is a game changer for me. Games like Miles Morales near instant just make the experience so much more enjoyable and it not until you go back to PS4 do you realise it.

@Vladspartan I have both and they are both awesome with different pros and cons over each other. In the end both will have a collection of great games to enjoy and I’ll enjoy them without getting hung up over which square box is “better”

If the logic is porting games to PC will mean people don't buy PS then it would suggest no one buys an Xbox as ALL their games are available on PC. Pretty sure it isn't affecting their sales at the moment.

Never really had many problems in the past but in my opinion the latest of the consoles controllers seem to have been the dodgiest. Switch with Joy con is obvious, Series X controller feels cheap to me and the plasticky clicky noises feel cheap and distracting when playing without headphones and now the Dual Sense controller has drift issue.
Saying that, I do think these controllers are my favourite in design - just a shame they all have their issues.

@Old-Red sounds like me. Only generally buy when a is really cheap if I’ve always had eye on it but mostly play the ps plus games and now the GPU games. Obviously will buy full price nitendo games.
Probably a real negative to the industry as my gaming habits are highly controlled by what the subscription models offer. But as you say - hopefully I’m in the minority.

Hell yeah I will certainly be getting Turok 2. Loved it but the save mechanism was just broken if I remember correctly and never quite finished it. Maybe this time I’ll do it!
Loved the multiplayer - especially the creepy Dino guy who says “I undress myself” when you pick him.

PS5 version is a great improvement. Load times massively improved for initial start up and travelling between star systems. Its the game I play when cycling on my turbo trainer as it's pretty chilled out without need for much concentration. Complete time sink and gets me through my 1-2 hours cycling session!

Great to see Spiderman back in the mix. Really enjoyed that one. Also think Sackboy is a great platformer. The sound on this game is great and the whole game seems designed to make you smile and tap your feet.
I will be buying Demons Soul once its about £15.

@Shigurui I'm playing the Medium at the moment too but I'm a little disappointed so far. Not sure why. It really feels like a last gen game when supposedly its not possible to put out on last gen consoles. Think it may be the sluggish controls makes it feel like an old Resi game, especially with the fixed camera angles.
I've actually started Ori and been hooked with that so lost interest in Medium for now. Will return later I'm sure as on paper its a game I should love.
Haven't tried Forza yet. Not a massive racing fan but will try it considering its in my GPU subscription.

@bwat47 lol! Nothing wrong with base PS4. Just when bloodborne takes 5 seconds instead of the crazy long load times it changes the dynamics some what. Game still great either way though.

I both agree and disagree with @Arugula. You don't NEED a PS5. Most games are on PS4 so technically its not needed, however I already struggle to bother going back to PS4 Pro. The loading times are tough to go back to, as is the reduced performance.
Personally had an amazing time with Astro and have been playing my way through the Plus Collection. These alone outside the improved performance and loading times are worth the purchase for me.

EDIT: Also the ability to play the PS5 on the PS4 upstairs works so much better than I'd ever thought. Just a shame the PS5 games can't be played - only the PS4 games.

I also just managed to finally get hold of the DualSense Charge Station! Such a buzz when the purchase process actually completes ahead of the scalpers

I've tried many times and just can't get into The Witcher. Last of Us 2 I've completed 3 times and stopped on my 4th to wait for the PS5 upgrades.
I will give Witcher 3 another go, especially now on PS5 it may improve performance and load times, but I haven't yet seen why it was regarded so highly. My loss though

@Zombie9ers wow. Just wow. Internet will implode. On one hand LOU2 having most awards will upset 'that' crowd, but then Witcher 3 losing its crown. Will people be okay with this now CDPR are no longer loved the same way......

Back on topic - I'm looking forward to this - only because it will be free for me and no reason for it not be a good game.
Just platinumed Man Eater which was seen as an average game, but absolutely loved my time with it. Hoping this will be at least that type of game.

Have mentioned in the past but Bloodborne was impossible and I wanted an easy mode. I'm not the more skilled of gamers and would champion an easy mode. That was until I figured it out and ground up the levels until my lack of skill was aided by being a higher level. Now Bloodborne is one of my favourite games ever and I'd now argue against an easy mode. Dying is not always a problem but a way to learn how to solve a problem. Especially on PS5 where the loading is so quick.
Now I can't wait to pick up Demons Soul once its a realistic price.

I do think Game pass is massively over estimated. When i looked at the games I played last gen against what came on game pass, I would end up payer thousands of pounds more to have had game pass and still play PS exclusives. The only way it will save you money is if you don't have an interest in any major third party games or Sony exclusives.
Saying that I will be getting a series X and game pass as I think the service will improve massively through this generation, including all the Bethesda games that I probably wouldn't have bought without game pass - especially now most will be exclusive to MS.

@TheRedComet I'm with you there. I still think Last of Us 2 looks better than anything I've played on PS5 but damn I love how quick everything loads.

I still don't understand if 99.99% of users (basically anyone who doesn't magnify single frames like DF does) can't tell the difference between these resolutions then why bother. Why not just focus on the game for improvements rather than the resolution? I'd argue that Zelda BOTW is the best game last gen (and if its not its not far off) yet that resolution is nowhere near 4k.

@BAMozzy Yeah I agree that DF do seem quite neutral. It is strange there is such a difference between the two resolutions considering PS5 can obviously do more as it doesn't ever drop a frame while the X has its moments of stutter keeping to 4k.

I actually would rather games came in lower resolution - whatever that has to be - if it meant more 'action' on screen. An example say NPC count/AI quality. If this was compromised to ensure that a console can reach 4k output I would be disappointed. Haven't bought Cyberpunk but if it stays as an empty game with no atmosphere, odd AI and transporting police I will never get it. It sounds terrible. Even if that garbage happened in 4K. If, however it was a high quality game in 1080p it wouldn't stop me getting it.
I'm no expert but I do hope quality of game isn't compromised just for resolution.

@BAMozzy I'd disagree on the headline being different. So far PS5 has beaten Series X for performance on all multi plat games, including hitman. Just the resolution being different here. All the other DF videos I've watched have responded equally just saying both X and PS5 versions are pretty much the same even with the increased performance of PS5.
They do come across pretty neutral in general from what I've seen as they don't get carried away with the fact PS5 is performing better in general this generation even though its a less powerful machine, and they don't get carried away with this Hitman review either.
The biggest take from their videos is the relief I didn't get the Series S in the end. MS Saying its just an X at 1080p is a straight out lie. Who knows what will happen further down the generation line. Will the differences grow?

@nessisonett, @JAMes-BroWWWn I made £100k last year but my mate made £120k and spends all his time calling me a failure. Sure I had a great time last year but that doesn't count really does it. I bought myself a new Audi TT. Beautiful it was, until my mate bought 2 of them so now mine is rubbish. I'm so depressed now.

What an odd mix of teams. I look forward to City spending another £200 billion over what they bring in and say they received it all from a Fortnite deals but lost the receipt.....

Bethesda do wind me up sometimes. They have potential to make amazing games but are just ruined by game breaking bugs everytime. ES and Fallout get me everytime and somehow I never learn!
Actually - with every game being given away with game pass and less money being reserved for the work I can't see the quality getting better - arguably it will be worse, but I'll give MS the benefit for the time being. Maybe they can sort that team out to employ testers for once

@naruball Personally I'd be happy if they just added 20 more tracks for £10 every couple of years. There's not really much going to change between 8 and 9 and its not like they need a graphical upgrade.

I'm hoping for a sci-fi time travelling thriller adventure. Unchartered through time. Get Christopher Nolan on board and score by Hans Zimmer and bam best game ever guaranteed...

@ScottyG I'm the same. Got Sackboy because I wanted more quick light fun, platforming. Hasn't disappointed, especially multiplayer with the kids.
