Re: All The Game Awards 2021 Winners

StonyKL

My two cents:
Glad It Takes Two won as I'm really enjoying playing with my kid. Nothing too clever in there but just good fun.

Don't really know what Best Audio Design means but the sounds in FH make me struggle to play it. Just anything that is spoken in the game is incredibly irritating, although I assume this isn't part of that award.

Confused why Best Action Game and Best Action/Adventure Game categories exist.

Still a load of games for me to enjoy from that list once the RRP gets to a more attainable number.

Re: Sony Allegedly Funding Kojima Productions Silent Hill Game

StonyKL

@Amusei I'm exactly in your boat. I'm desperate for a Silent Hill but these constant rumours are getting tiresome. I'd also think the constant noise will probably over hype the game if it did come out and inevitably lead to disappointment!
Certainly feel like that should it be Bloober Team doing it. They aren't terrible but to pass the game of as a success they will have to completely raise their game to what they have produced so far.

Re: God of War Wins IGN's Big Best Video Game of All Time Poll

StonyKL

Hilarious! What a waste of time that was. Rise of the Tomb raider I've started twice and can't never get passed an hour or so due to boredom vs Half Life 2 a game that spawned a million copy cats and which I've played through several times over!
Oh well guess it just shows my age...

Re: UK Sales Charts: New Releases Like Tales of Arise Selling Best on PS5

StonyKL

@The_New_Butler I'm finding a very similar issue as well. To push that further, if there is a PS Sale on I will go through the full list looking for a bargain on a game I've been after, while when the Xbox has a sale I don't even bother looking because I just won't buy anything on the Xbox as I have game pass. Its almost like PS+ on steroids. I do sometimes question buying some games on PS in case they come to PS+ but its not even a question on the Xbox anymore.
In summary I think MS have to go completely all out on GP. It feels like it has to work or they'll be in a bit of trouble.
I do wonder though, if Xbox sales end up becoming negligible for non GP games, will the dev companies be forced to go the GP route allowing MS to pay very low sums for the privilege?
Is that a good outcome for gamers? Guess time will tell really.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Showcase 2021 Was Good, But Not Good Enough

StonyKL

You come to these sites to get excited for games. I watched the showcase and saw tons of games that excite me only to come onto Push Square to be told its not exciting. Maybe its because its 2021 and today's gamer is someone who expects everything their way plus 1? This also isn't everything Sony has to offer as there are loads of things not included that we know are coming. People just need to have patience or they'll be forever miserable!

Re: Rumour: Uncharted PC Collection Is Probably Real, But Leaked Image Looks Fake

StonyKL

@Sanquine simply ask yourself, will you want to play any of GoW, HFW, GoT sequel, GT7, Spiderman sequel, last of us sequel or anything new naughty dog will do, next from software exclusive (rumoured) and any other PS exclusive coming for the future.
If answer is no then I recommend Series X. No matter how great an Xbox may end up being I couldn't do without the Sony games. They're just too good to miss out on.

Re: TT Games Founder Reckons Insomniac Games Misled Fans with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

StonyKL

Could the PS3 play the Rift apart game: NO
Could an amended version of the game play on the PS3: YES
Would they be the same game: NO
Every single game follows that logic. The new Flight Simulator game on Series X would play on a PS3 if you removed half the assets, changed the AI, framerate, resolution, etc. What does that really tell you other than you can reduce the quality of a game and claim it can play on inferior machines?

Re: In the UK, 96% of Dark Alliance's Physical Sales Were on PS5, PS4

StonyKL

@AFCC does anyone know if they get paid as much though?
Basically no-one knows if GP is sustainable but the concern is whether business go bust because of GP when MS reveal it isn't sustainable.
I am also interested in whether this will have a similar affect to gaming as Spotify to music industry where no one buys physical anymore so the bands earn peanuts these days. Could it be that there will be less money for the devs as MS will end up taking the biggest slice of the pie? Will that in turn affect quality?
I say this as a GP and Spotify subscriber (paid £50 for a year so far) who won't buy a game on Xbox or an album of disc as I don't see the point. At least I go to a lot of gigs and can contribute more directly to the bands.

Re: Sony Fans Bicker Over Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Paywall

StonyKL

@Divergent95 seems a bit odd to give up the option to play the next load of Sony games that you enjoyed from PS4 gen (an assumption) over the fact Sucker Punch are charging $10 for an upgrade. If you are angry because you like the game then you're inhibiting your option to play the sequel. If you don't like the game then not sure why this would bother you?

Re: Reaction: Messy Ghost of Tsushima Upgrade Makes PS5 for the Payers

StonyKL

Really looking forward to playing GOT but looks like I'll have to wait much longer until its at a price point I'm willing to pay - this gen I'll basically be playing PS games a few years behind most other people but will be playing Xbox games day 1 due to game pass. I think that will be quite telling as the generation plays out.

Re: Talking Point: What Free July 2021 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

StonyKL

@musicologist83 I actually prefer plus model so long as the games are high quality. I can take my time and play the games at my pace and not worry about losing them at short notice as has happened to me on occasion.

The advantage to GP is the quantity but Plus can compete with quality over quantity but that's probably too big an ask in reality.

Re: Xbox Head Targets Sony for Not Launching Games Day and Date on PC

StonyKL

@nessisonett thats mainly because he doesn't stop talking, ever. I have a series X and am often on PureXbox but every day is an article about what Phil says. To me its a little odd. It maybe because there aren't really any games to talk about so its a way to get hits but I reckon once the games do actually start coming in we will probably hear less about his daily routines.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Crash Rates Charted in Official CDPR Graph

StonyKL

Even the latest stat feels far too many crashes than is acceptable. On the basis that the start was shockingly bad, to be at around a third of it this far on feels really bad and not something to be happy about. I really do wonder if I'll ever get round to playing this game. Maybe in a few more years...

Re: Almost Half of PlayStation Gamers Are Women

StonyKL

Wish it was like this 20 years ago and hopefully that % will get to the 50% sooner than later. My wife still asks me when I'm going to finally grow up and stop playing computer games (I manage a few hours a week at best!) to the point any talk of gaming is banned from the house (along with football obviously).

Re: PS Store Days of Play Sale Discounts 60 PS5 Games, 500 PS4 Games

StonyKL

@PaperAlien And its this reason why most of my bought games are on disc. Would love to go all digital but expecting me to pay twice the price for digital instead is just crazy. Especially if I sell the game after I've finished with it and pretty much make the money back. Where is the incentive to go digital?

Re: Resident Evil Village (PS5) - Capcom's Best Horror Game for 16 Years

StonyKL

@awp69 Well it got a 7 from PureXbox and a 9 from PushSquare so I'd go with PS5
I'll be choosing based on the controller I prefer seeing as though the performance is pretty much the same between the two by the sounds of things (or not noticeable unless you are a robot) so I'd recommend either that - or whichever you can get cheaper I guess!

Re: Returnal (PS5) - Housemarque's Deep, Dark Shooter Is a PS5 Must Have

StonyKL

Gutted that I'll miss out on what looks like an amazing gaming experience. The price combined with the difficulty is enough to stop me buying. Had the same issue with Bloodborne which was very difficult until I 'figured it out' and turned out to be one of my favourite games.
Perhaps one for a future sale then?

Re: Sony Set to Invest Even More Money in PlayStation Exclusive Games This Year

StonyKL

@NEStalgia I'd argue Sony's style is to create niche games.
Thinking of PS4 games I played I can think of Last Guardian, Gravity Rush, Dreams, Until Dawn, all the PSVR stuff, Flower, Journey, Resogun, Little Big Planet, The Order: 1886, Tearaway, Death Stranding. Not too bad a list if excluding the big name 3rd person adventures. I wouldn't be too surprised if Sony used this money to expand even further on their variety.

But as I said above I do hope it means less money spent on timed exclusives.

Re: Sony Set to Invest Even More Money in PlayStation Exclusive Games This Year

StonyKL

@AlexSora89 Agree. Money on first party content directly benefits the gamers far more than 3rd party timed exclusives which are completely pointless to us consumers. Me owning a PS5 doesn't get any benefit from Sony paying to hold back a game from Xbox, while if all that money was spent towards first party games or even on improving quality / speeding up releases of first party games then we'd all gain from it.
Yes I understand the timed exclusives is for business reasons but us loyal PS gamers don't seem to benefit directly from that model.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update: All the Features You May Not Know About

StonyKL

@carlos82 Thats what I have now but isn't really a solution because it means I lose out on the functionality I would use 99% of the time. Was hoping there was perhaps a setting to disable this functionality using remote play.
I have kids, so finding the remote to change the channel is tougher than any game I put on, hence why PS5 controlling the TV is a perfect work around.
Seems a shame to lose out and an odd thing to do seeing as remote use of PS5 suggests you won't be using the TV connected to the PS5 so why switch it on. How are we going to save the planet with such an energy waste set up!!

Re: PS5 Firmware Update: All the Features You May Not Know About

StonyKL

Anyone else have the same issue that I do. I set my PS5 to control the TV so switching it on turns TV on. But if I'm on the PS4 upstairs and remote to the PS5 it also turns on the TV downstairs. Is there a way to stop that from happening to only allow control when directly using the PS5 on that TV?

Other than being annoying I sometimes go upstairs to play games that are not suitable for other members of the family which spectacularly failed before I realised this was happening.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Available to Download Now on PS5, PS4, and It's a 44GB Monster

StonyKL

@LordSteev I will not be happy if they price hike GP. It’s borderline just right price for me. There’s tons of games on there but most are a pile of garbage from the 360 days you’ll never play, however there are a lot of games worth playing too. A slight concern is if they price hike and I don’t continue paying then I’ll have a series x with nothing to play on it. I’m thinking that’s the model they’re going for.
Would be a shame as GP is great for me right now and wouldn’t want it to change.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Detailed, and It's Absolutely Massive

StonyKL

Very good to see this stuff getting fixed. I can see myself picking this up in a year or so, when it's cheap, fixed and 100 times better than people experienced at day one.

Can also see me being wowed by it and having a good impression left on me regarding CDPR. Perhaps that's what makes this worth while for them? Yes people have been burnt and will inevitably refuse their next game (#deliberatly glances towards Bethesda#) but others like me, which are probably still the majority, can be saved and kept on board going forwards?
