Re: Sony's PS Plus Premium Offer for PSVR2 Games Seems to Die Next Month

StonyKL

Really gutted how PSVR2 has gone. I love mine and it's the only think I play on the PS5 these days and its the only thing my wife actually enjoys in the gaming world (other than Mario Kart). I'll probably run out of decent games on it soon enough . For me the jump from PS4 to PS5 was nothing special, but the jump from PSVR to PSVR2 was incredible.

I just don't know how anyone could play the next Resident Evil without playing it in VR. It's massively more enjoyable for me!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch 2 Direct - 5 Things for PS5 Fans to Pay Attention To

StonyKL

This will be day 1 for me, been waiting for this for a while. My Switch 1 has 4 controllers ALL with drift so I haven't bothered buying more controllers as probably cheaper to wait for the switch 2 and play my games on that instead, with improved image quality and frame rate.
So my biggest excitement is if they can solve the stick drift issue!!

Re: The Last of Us Boss Answers Its Most Profound Question: Was Joel Right?

StonyKL

I'll say something that will probably sound stupid but I remember playing this about the same time I watched Interstellar which was the same time my daughter was was rushed to hospital after a seizure. Both the game and the film resonated with me because they both felt about a decision of whether you'd sacrifice the world for a life with your daughter. In LoU Joel does (in a sense) while in Intersteller he made the sacrifice to save humanity at the expense of a life with his daughter, who relative to him, basically dies in a very short time.
Without doubt I'd have gone the Joel route. However my daughter is now a nightmare teenager so doubts starting to creep in 🤣

Re: Sony Confirms PS Portal's Status as 'DadStation' in Accurate Ad

StonyKL

@Enigk it'll come. I got so fed up of my kids hogging the TV/PS5 I bought them their own PS5 to play in another room. For slightly over £100 more than the portal I managed to get my TV and lounge back and don't have to play on a small screen. Saying that I wouldn't mind a portal as well!

Re: Abby's Muscles Less Relevant to HBO's The Last of Us Adaption

StonyKL

@ChromaticDracula Same here! Along with Silo Season 3...

Interesting how much people complain or discuss the probability of a woman getting as muscular in the game as real life not caring the story involves a plague of zombies. They have no issue with that not being realistic. Or the fact a 14 year old (slightly older in part 2) girl has the ability to attack scores of fully grown men or over powered zombies. No complaints about that either. The biggest issue is when a woman works out they wouldn't be able to get quite that muscular? So much so that they spew hatred online about it? Seems odd to me.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida on PSVR2: 'I'm Sorry'

StonyKL

I love my PSVR2 and for me its the biggest positive in what is probably a disappointing PS5 generation in general. Synapse now being my favourite game on the PS5. Just wish it had all been successful and someone took Synapse and made a AAA Star Wars version using the gameplay from that game. So much wasted potential

Re: Would You Pay $100 for GTA 6?

StonyKL

Nope. No chance and never. Worst part is £50 is too much for me to splash the cash, so a 50% sale on GTA is still too much for me, so I'll unlikely ever play the game.

Re: PSVR2 Rhythm Title Synth Riders Drops 80s Mixtape Side B, Adds 7 New Songs

StonyKL

One of my favourite games from 2024 and bought the 80s songs but it really starts to add up if I keep buying more songs. Will either wait for a DLC sale or skip entirely. Looks a good list though.
If they had done something like Power of Love and took you through the Back to the Future Hill Valley location I'd have bitten your hand of.
Or how about People Are Strange through Santa Carla, Good Enough through the caves on route to One-eyed Willy, Dance Magic Dance through the Labyrinth.....

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Is Naughty Dog's Wildest, Most Creative Story Yet

StonyKL

@Dom_31 Think I'm too old as well! Naughty Dog have made some of the highest quality games through their history that even a generation later can't be matched. I can't wait to see what they make next. Why should I hate on it already like the majority of people on the internet are already doing? I can't wait for Yonaka's next album, Christopher Nolans next film, Rockstars next game etc. Why does that make me wrong?

@KawakiisaFraud I don't understand why this isn't targeting its audience? Is it the 80s music? Being set in space? Alternative reality? It has a woman in it? Honestly would be interested in what makes this a flop already?

Re: Physical Media Just Can't Catch a Break Right Now

StonyKL

@elvisfan1 I go physical because its generally cheaper and has resale value making it further cheaper. Its all about the cost and cost alone. Digital is more convenient but when games can be half the cost on disc then can be sold to cex for a further chunk of money it just cheaper over all. I also borrow and lend game with my mates which saves on cost even further.

Re: PS5 Pro vs PS5: Full Tech Specs Comparison

StonyKL

@Bionic-Spencer I'm pinning my hopes on Naughty Dog. Last of Us on PS3 still looks better than most games on PS4 while Last of Us 2 still looks better than most games on PS5. Have hopes their next 'new' game on PS5 will look better than most games on PS6 in the future, but as @get2sabbyb said, its wishful thinking and more a sign of the times than hoping a specific dev gets more out of the machine.

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

StonyKL

@themightyant interesting point, but feels unrealistic comparison. I think the disappointment comes, or at least in my case, that I believed this was aimed at me. I have a decent chunk of disposable income, certainly over spend on my gaming hobby, and was planning on getting this day 1. But the £700 price point, along with no disc drive feels well out of my price range out of principal, so isn't aimed at me. We say its for the enthusiasts, which I thought I was one seeing I have had nearly all consoles made including recently PS4, PS4 pro, PS5, PSVR, PSVR2, Switch, Series S and Series X - but I won't be getting one so I assume people turn their disappointment into anger online.
I guess my bigger concern is if the PS6 ends up costing more I'm going to have an even bigger decision to make

Edit: Going back to your original point I never planned to ever buy a Ferrari, even though I could possibly just about afford one (although it would end my marriage!)

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

StonyKL

@Member_the_game this is what makes me sad. I've missed out on half the games I want this generation because I can't afford to pay £70 each time there's a good game out there. I can only wait for the 'big' ones that I'm guaranteed to like. Feels like gaming it trying its hardest to shoot itself in the foot with the pricing where only the huge franchises stand a chance at making profit.

Re: Sony Increases PS5 Controller Prices in US, Europe, and More

StonyKL

@Zemo55 Sounds like I'm very unlucky. I store them in their official charge stand after use. I blame the kids but they get time restricted to 1 hour a day and only play fortnite and the controller gets put on the charge stand or they get a ban for the following day (yes I'm an ogre!). Not exactly excessive use, and they've never thrown the controller in a rage like I used to do every time I fought M. Bison on the SNES 😂

Re: Best Simulation Games on PS5

StonyKL

@The_Pixel_King I'm confused. Are you my Tyler Durden? Played Power wash on GP because my daughter wanted to play. completed the story and extras then repeated on PS5. First and only game I've ever bought DLC for and went for the platinum to fail miserably on the time trials. Actually had some advice from another PushSquare member on how to succeed which I will definitely go back and try sometime.
Other than that GT7 only other 'simulator' I enjoyed from that list

Re: Sony Is Allegedly Pulling PSVR2 Funding, Report Claims

StonyKL

I've just recently got one a few weeks ago and still can't believe how incredible it is. I had the first PSVR and it was impressive to an extent but I played it twice. It just took too much effort to set it up and play. But the PSVR2 is so quick and simple and having the two hand controllers is game changing for me.
I haven't played a non VR game since I got it and don't expect myself to for a while.
I had 11 games already from PS+. Played Resi evil Village and can't understand how I'd every play any future RE game as non VR. It's just so much better and fun in VR.
The thought of VR not taking off is a real disappointment for me. I'm already looking forward to the next step up when the PS6 releases as to me the step up between PS4 and PS5 is negligible but the step of from PSVR to PSVR2 is massive.

Re: PS Plus Premium Gets 6 New PSVR2 Games, Available to Download Now

StonyKL

Wow what timing. Ordered the PSVR2 last night on the deal where its £90 off and I get £215 worth of Netflix credit which on the £5 a month package gives me Netflix for the next 3 and a half years. Checked my library and I already have No Mans Sky, Humanity, Saints and Sinners 1 & 2, Resi Village and GT7 - then Sony go and drop some more! Happy days

Re: Judge Rules in Sony's Favour in $500m Controller Comms Lawsuit

StonyKL

@PsBoxSwitchOwner wonder if its the type of game that causes it. My son broke a relatively new PS5 controller bashing the buttons for Patapon. He was only about 8 years old so not the strongest and managed to get the button stuck. I've banned that game plus any other rhythm based games from now on.

PS5 gets a lot more use while the Xbox is mainly for shooters - maybe shooters are less damaging? The switch is just painfully bad. They are actually my favourite controllers if its wasn't for the drift problems. I'm still waiting to buy a proper controller for it so I can finally get on with Zelda without him continually just self walking off cliffs!

Re: Judge Rules in Sony's Favour in $500m Controller Comms Lawsuit

StonyKL

@Tecinthebrain Agreed. This gen has been the worst. 2 Switch controller sets, 2 PS5 controllers (yet to have any Xbox ones go - although these are cheap and nasty so possibly designed to last?) and they are the most expensive controllers ever. Wonder if its by design? Make £60 controllers that break and force users to by new ones every year or so...

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Slated for Adding Sinister PS5 Microtransactions at Launch

StonyKL

@NEStalgia the problem with your question to @get2sammyb is whether the game was released to play perfect for reviewers then patched to make the game more MTX dependant. I think I remember reading when GT7 released, once it had been reviewed the amount of money received from events were reduced to make MTX more of an incentive. If this is true, and ends up being the same with DD2 then the reviewers may say the game doesn't need MTX, which at the time it didn't, however post patch it may affect the core experience outside of what the reviewer experienced and to some extent making their job a bit of a joke.
It really is a disturbing trend that firstly this kind of thing is happening and secondly that we can't trust that a game will be patched after purchase to make the grind even bigger and the game less enjoyable. And indirectly we can't trust the reviewers as they will have reviewed a different experience than what we may end up getting.

In fact here's the article:
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/03/new-gran-turismo-7-patch-lowers-currency-rewards-fuelling-more-microtransaction-criticism

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Slated for Adding Sinister PS5 Microtransactions at Launch

StonyKL

This has the potential to stop me getting the game. I loved GT7 but trying to get all the cars in the game became too much of a slog and were obviously designed to only be realistically achievable with micro transactions. I've slowly learnt that 'can be got in the game' means 'spend your entire life in the game you may get it'.
That being said it may not affect DD2 in the slightest, but without spending 100 hours in the game how would I know? On my experience with micro transaction games its a massive turn off.

Re: Reaction: What Is Happening to the Video Games Industry and Why Are There So Many Layoffs?

StonyKL

The whole purpose of the gaming industry is to make the shareholders money and then to make them more money the following year. If that doesn't happen then the guys at the top get replaced. Therefore they get desperate at making quick bucks wherever they can.
The industry is a very high risk one, like the movie industry where the majority of the work is done and paid for without guarantee of the rewards and the life cycle of the game can't really be scaled up most of the time, in the way perhaps an episodic game could potentially be.
Throw into the unstable industry GamePass and probably to a lesser extend PS+ and a section of the public are turning their back on game sales (I know I am) with the risk the game will come 'free' to the subscriber service.
AND with subscriber services hitting peak there is no 'growth' shown to the investors so we circle back to the panic mode at the top.

Thats my guess at part of the problems?

Re: Rise of the Ronin Gets Loads of New PS5 Gameplay Footage, Featuring 8 Different Fighting Styles

StonyKL

Is it wrong I'm disappointed with the lack of environment interactions. The waves look PS4 while the guy thrown into the water doesn't even make a splash, and the sand is solid? Guess thats why games cost too much to make these days!
I still haven't played GoT and I have it in my library. Why didn't I just download that instead of buying RE4, RE:Village and Little Nightmares 2 in the sale #smh

Re: Silent Hill: The Short Message (PS5) - There's a Reason It's Free

StonyKL

I'm wondering if this release could have a negative affect on the Silent Hill 2 remake? I can't wait for it but if trash (supposedly, I haven't tried it) like this is deemed enough quality to release, then it's turning me off SH2.
I would imagine they wanted to do something like PT to get the attention on SH2, similarly to how PT made us all desperate for something new, however this has probably done the opposite

Re: Sony Officially Confirms PS5 Has Passed the 50 Million Units Milestone

StonyKL

@HonestTruth Might be a silly question but do you not have a backlog of games? I probably have over 100 games in my library I have yet to get to. I don't have anywhere near enough time to play an additional 3/4 big games a year. Is it possibly worth getting an xbox with Game Pass and/or switch and going through their exclusive libraries?
