The rollout for FIFA 21 on the PlayStation 5 has been downright weird. We would have put money on the game being available day one for Sony’s new system, but it actually won’t release until 4th December. Worse still, we’ve barely seen a second of gameplay from the next-gen upgrade, despite the likes of NBA 2K21 being marketed heavily for weeks.

What’s this, though? A couple of screenshots! Here we get a glimpse at Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Atletico Madrid forward João Félix. While it’s a clear upgrade, to be honest we’re not massively impressed; the models appear stylised to us, and while the lighting is really good – well, it’s all a bit uncanny valley really, isn’t it?

That said, the proof will be in the pudding, so let’s wait for final footage of the soccer sim running on Sony’s new system.
