Awards season is upon us and Cyberpunk 2077 hasn't even released yet. That puts us and a lot of outlets in a bit of an awkward position, but the Golden Joysticks have gone first with their celebration of 2020's best games. And The Last of Us: Part II came out on top by a very, very wide margin, bagging itself five awards including Ultimate Game of the Year.
The Last of Us: Part II won in the Ultimate Game of the Year, PlayStation Game of the Year, Best Visual Design, Best Storytelling, and Best Audio categories. Thoroughly well deserved. Naughty Dog also took home the trophy for the best gaming studio of 2020, which must be the cherry on top for the developer. We expect this sort of praise to continue at next month's The Game Awards. The team took to Twitter to mark the occasion, thanking everyone who voted.
Elsewhere, Fall Guys won first place in both the Best Multiplayer Game and Best Family Game categories, Sandra Saad of Marvel's Avengers' Kamala Khan won the award for Best Performer, and God of War Ragnarok even got in on the action after being voted the Most Wanted Game. How many more awards will The Last of Us 2 win over the next few months? Raise a toast to the game in the comments below.

Congrats to Naughty Dog and well deserved!
Fans voted for these awards as well so just goes show the haters were a loud minority.
Oof, didn’t think it would win by that wide a margin. Guess the vocal minority were just that - a minority.
Can't argue with that, its comfortably the best game I've played so far this year and had me hooked from beginning to end. Well deserved Naughty Dog
Well deserved in all those categories. Best game I played this year for sure.
Yes, congrats Naughty Dog but PLEASE, next time, ************* and then make me play character that ********. Not cool
Edited for spoilers - Liam Croft.
@Col_McCafferty @nessisonett can't you two just be happy it won instead of being upset by other people's opinions?
Congrats ND, well deserved. I look forward to a PS5 patch, or upgrade. Will happily play it again.
I’ve not yet had a chance to play TLOUP2 so perhaps cannot comment entirely but definitely surprised Ghost of Tsushima didn’t win anything. What a game.
Great to see sport games doing well.
The power of playstation!
Yet the fanboys in green say all our games are the same lol
My impression was everyone liked Ghost of Tsushima ......I suppose I will opt for Last of us 2 FF7 is reduced but it still £40 smackeroonies......is a bit steep.
Nobody is actually surprised this game will win GOTY everywhere.
🤷♂️
I went on that site multiple times to make sure I get my votes in, just so haters and death-threat-sending silly folks don't win. Well deserved! This and RDRII's lighting is next gen already. The campaign length for a linear game is extraordinary. The story is DIFFERENT. Gameplay is fantastic! Just finished my 2nd run.
@Number09 Everyone did like Ghost Of Tsushima, a lot of them just liked TLOU2 even more, myself included
@Voltan Great Studios both of them.
I expect TLoU 2 to win Game of the Year at the majority of outlets but I disagree with it. I would say visuals and audio it deserves to win, without question in the latter, but I played several games this year I enjoyed more overall.
Just started replaying this on PS5. Seriously adore this game.
@Gamer83 it’s not all about you and your personal tastes.
@jmac1686
And where did I say it was? Giving my opinion I'm allowed to do that. Don't like it, hit the ignore button.
Now all i need is that PS5 patch and some Factions goodness.
Yay! Congrats to The Last of Us 2!
Very happy to see Naughty Dog get the praise they deserve after all the criticism they've received. Also great to see both No Man's Sky and Death Stranding pick up an award too.
Fully deserved, imo Last Of Us 2 is Sony best game that they have made.
Well deserved. Never really thought TLoU needed a sequel but now I can't imagine not having it. Essential gaming imo. I say keep them coming at this point.
That gif is brilliant 😂🤣
@djape

Congrats to Naughty Dog! They earned it. Can’t wait to see what they do next.
@Ridwaano sorry mate... its been some time since the game came out... nobody dies in this game, ok : )
Haha i bet TheQuartering is already making saying this is fixed. Well deserved as its an incredible game and suck it haters.
@djape Seriously, seeing spoilers like that is not cool. Not everyone has had the chance to play it yet. I don't think you intended any harm by it, but please be more careful in the future if you are spoiling major plot points from a major AAA story driven game that's less than 6 months old.
This just shows how these types of game awards have 0 credibility. The gaming journalists are so out of touch and this just proves it. It doesn't matter if you love the game or hated it, the cold fact is this game is divise. Fracture the fanbase of the franchise. I know Metacritic is not a good method of measure but that thing has more credibility than any game awards. A game that has a user score of 5.7 cannot be awarded game of the year. Don't get me the "It got review bombed" because it went both ways and the sad thing is those who gave Last of Us 2 a 10 gave Ghost a 0. Still, after all that and all the bad reviews, Metacritic removed it still sits at a 5.7.
Jim Ryan actually addressed the backlash a few days ago in a GQ article and in a professional way admitted it was not the hit that Last of us 2 fanboys want you to believe.
So at the end of the day this game can win all the awards it wants heck it can even win the Oscars. But that won't wash away the bad taste it left on not a minority of people but a huge group of people.
Also, this site is way too biased to anything Sony/Playstation related. I've been a PlayStation fan all my life but I don't worship everything they make. They seemed to ignore legit criticism of this game. I adore the first game, but Part 2 basically destroyed that game. I thought this site was different but then again what can I expect 🤷🏾♂️.
I'm actually rooting for Last of us 2 to win game of the year at the game awards, cause the backlash will huge and just prove that gaming journalists are so out of touch.
@graysoncharles I hear a lot of great things about Ghost of Tsuhuima; but for me it doesn't even make the list of games I would play if they were free because the theme doesn't appeal to me. I don't say this to talk trash about the game; just offer up an opinion on why it might not have captured the top spot when TLOU2 did.
@jmac1686 it's not all about you and your dislike of someone else's personal tastes.
@Esuazo10 People voted for this, i myself voted for it. This isn't a bunch a critics voting its us the actual players. Jesus get over yourself, the game sold very well, reviewed well and was clearly loved by the majority what played it, as ever the haters and loudest were the minority because they couldn't handle a character dying and playing as a female lead who doesn't look like Gal Gadot.
@djape you spoil
@Col_McCafferty I love how people parrot these sayings like “loud minority,” all over the place.
@Esuazo10 There is zero credibility in any awards show. I would question whether or not these types of things are actually voted in. We could be casting votes but someone already made the decision for us.
@WallyWest how many people voted? This is the first time I've heard about the golden joysticks awards. Doing some research in 2018 this golden joysticks awards gave Fortnite game of the year over God of War let that sink in. This just proofs the weight of these awards. I didn't mind Joel getting killed actually I expected it. The game should be awarded in the areas that deserve it like visuals and accessibility. But when you award a narrative that doesn't resonate with ith fanbase you know something is fishy.
@TG16_IS_BAE Dude in 2018 this same show gave Fortnite game of the year over God of War I'm not joking. 0 credibility.
@Esuazo10 That’s atrocious, considering how much God of War actually tells a story, looks gorgeous, and of course, plays great. Plus it matured the franchise. Fortnite, while popular, doesn’t deserve a spot over a game like GoW.
It wins the best story telling? If this considered the best story in games, I guess the future of story telling will be really bad. And nd win the best studio, with crunch and all?
Now I worry about god of war 2 story 😕
@nessisonett Nope, the game sells really well at first then the next month it just not selling anymore, in my country it's still in bargain bin discounted along with it's special version. This is the first sony games that's the special edition is discounted and still not selling.
@thedevilsjester yeah definitely no intentions of spoiling anything and I should have put big SPOILER ALERT in my comment before writing anything down. I assumed most of people on this site would have played it already. sorry mate
Ghost of Tsushima was better!!!
I still haven't played Last of Us 2. I really should get around to it.
@Esuazo10 Golden Joysticks has been going for years and years, its one of the biggest gaming awards you can get and we the players are the ones what vote, its simply a case of going to the site and clicking what you want to win hence why Fortnite won because of all the kids flocked to vote for it. I vote every year myself, TLoUP2 winning the awards is like winning an Golden Globe or Emmy.
@wiiware Waited for you to appear with your made up "facts".
@WallyWest yeah you forgot the whole presented by gamesradar+. Now it makes sense that joke of a gaming site is the one behind this game awards.
Sorry to break to you but shill media doesn't determine what the game community thinks. Dude if the game awards has been a joke for years and is more well known than this one, well this is a even bigger joke. So according to this "prestigious awards" fortnite is better than God of war cause the fanboys flocked the site.
Well guess only last of us 2 fanboys voted. See this is why metacritic is more reliable and has way more credibility. Its more mainstream more people will give their opinion not like a shill media game event like this were only the few that are aware voted.
Congrats to the LOU2. I haven't gotten around to really playing it, but it doesn't really seem like my cup of tea. I'm not too big a fan of massive AAA releases.
But ND worked hard on it, and it's nice to see it pay off.
@Esuazo10 U mad bro
@Esuazo10 Its been "presented" by many publications in the past. Also you're going to use MC? ok then it sits 90%+ with critics, oh you want user score the user score what is made up with one side scoring it 0/10 and the other side 10/10 making the whole thing pointless as its made up of two extremes. Funny you turn to users AKA the players when they voted TLoUP2 to be GOTY, you see how your whole argument here falls apart.
Also you clearly forget or didn't know that many of the films regarded to be the best films of all time got a very mixed response at the time of release or were outright hated. The fact the game managed to get such a response proves its up there with gaming greats and will be long remembered.
@Esuazo10
You do realize that the Golden Joystick awards are not journalist specific, but open to the public? Your vote counts as much as Sammy's.
@WallyWest yes that's the whole point buddy. On MC is has 121 critics reviews (113 positive and 8 mixed) huh weirdly enough no negative 🤷🏾♂️. Okay then user ratings have 147,006 ratings( 75645 positive,7542 mixed and 63819 negative) keep in mind metacritic removed negative ratings.
So your telling me that 121 critics reviews speaks for all the almost 150000 user ratings? See this is my point the game journalist are so out of touch with the gaming community. So the few "elite" outweigh the rest? Come on buddy.
I just realized the golden joystick exist and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So again how many people voted in this awards? 150,000? 200,000??
Yes I do realize , my favorite film of all time is blade runner. Nobody understood it and it's the greatest sci-fi movie ever. But go ahead and play last of us 1 and see how part 2 doesn't live up to it. They should've left it alone it had a perfect ending. Yes props to ND for doing something new but it didn't pay off.
@lacerz I just heard about those awards today honestly. The only one I knew were the Geoff I ones you know the ones that are a joke.
So I'm curious how many people voted? Well it said presented by gamesradar+
@JesWood13 maybe but I'm not lying
Ghost of Tsushima was robbed, must be the 2020 curse where everything sucks
@SaikoWaifu2003 I move to dismiss TLOU2 winning on the grounds that ‘eeeuagh woman steal job from Joel they shrink his shoulders make him look soft’
@Esuazo10
"This was our biggest Ultimate Game of the Year list ever, spanning 20 games. And you cast millions of votes to pick the one title that came to define 2020. Your pick for Ultimate Game of the Year 2020 is The Last of Us Part 2."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87YsPrWdDxk
@GKO900
GoT wasn't robbed...it exists. That's all I need.
@Esuazo10 Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm gonna guess going by your username you aren't English or American? Joystick awards naturally are tied up with English and American players because its a English based award. All that said its a valid and very well known award, 95% of gamers who follow gaming news would have been well aware of the award because its like a Golden Globe or Emmy for games.
As for MC again you do realize a vast majority of the user reviews come from those who haven't played it and are going by out of context leaks and manbaby Youtubers spreading fake info, many on there still think Abby is Trans because the leaker said she was. The fact you can take them seriously just tells me you need validation because you want your opinion to be the right one so much, fact is the game won a big award what was voted for by players not critics but actual players. I think its fairly clear you only think this because you don't like the game, if you loved it you wouldn't be thinking this. MS user reviews is the lowest form of validation you can get, its a hive mind of kids, manbabies and trolls and has as much credibility as some manchild like TheQuartering. Its also very easy to create multiple accounts and bot accounts, losers actually do that to influence it because that's how pathetic their lives are.
Overall though the haters lost, the game sold well, is a critical darling and is winning big awards voted for by the players so suck it.
@lacerz Honestly it was tough picking between the two, both Ghost and TLoUP2 are my GOTY's so picking between them was down to a coin flip.
@WallyWest
I love both. Actually finished both, which is a rarity for me. To do both in the same year? Hell, months apart? That speaks of their quality.
hmm.. the comments... yeah.. 🍟🍟🍟
This comments section.
Full of salty losers and overly aggressive defenders who are gloating over a pointless awards show.
Newsflash, none of this matters! If you liked the game you can carry on liking it, if you didn't like it you can carry on not liking it, these pointless award ceremonies don't validate anyone's opinion!
Well done to Naughty Dog, I adored this game but must admit it isn't a game that I've wanted to come back to just because it is such a depressing experience, my GOTY still remains Ghost Of Tsushima!
@oldschool1987 Col is a hardcore fanboy. Don’t bev surprised by anything he says
Well deserved, can't wait to start a playthrough on my PS5. 2020 has had some cracking games especially on playstation.
Fully deserved. This was second in my game of the generation list, beaten only by God of War. Congratulations Naughty Dog
@DonJorginho
Your comment is fair. I enjoyed/didn't enjoy the game myself. Great gameplay. Great story. The AI for the enemies had issues, but overall some of the best I've experienced.
But God. Playing it? It was like watching a train wreck you had to see to the end. And it was so good, I did. And for that, I commend Naughty Dog.
@EL10
Dude, the Golden Joystick awards have been around since the 1980s. Where in the hell have you been? This isn't some "new" "BS" award presentation. It's literally NES days. Educate yourself.
@Esuazo10 & @EL10 are going to have to keep creating new accounts at the rate they're being banned.
@Gamer83 It sounds like for you, and many others, there needs to be a category around most fun game of the year.
What does Ultimate Game of the Year go to? LOU2 is probably my favourite game since the first one, however I agree with the fun part. I was hooked but it wasn't all fun.
Reminds me of a lot of films I enjoy that aren't fun but extremely gripping. Would say 1917 is my film of the year but fun it was not, just very intense which is probably why I liked this game so much.
Having such a category may also relax more people as if GoT was most fun game of the year then more people was be accommodating for LOU winning game of the year?
@Medic_Alert Ha - I think I just now take the quality of the game for granted. Started playing next gen PS5 games and my first impression so far is it looks no where near as impressive visually as Last of Us. Forgetting the story side which is the cause of all the arguments, technically Naughty Dog are geniuses. I can't wait to see what they will do with the PS5. I'm hoping for some new IP to surprise us all.
@Esuazo10 Totally 100% agree, loved everything about the game bar the story which was crap, and purposely made to be divisive, and it lacked the link between the two characters you had in the first game, and replaced it with hate instead. The ending was just a lazily written joke that was a cheap way to get shocks and destroyed the story even more. TLOU never needed a sequel and everyone knew it, the story was written for one to exist and surveys nothing to promote it beyond that. IMO. If I paid £69 for it I’d be a tad upset for sure.
Deserves it... really brings the work digital artist do In games to another level. A showcase in every way.
It would get my vote in most categories of the games I've played so far this year.
@SaikoWaifu2003 how the hell did you make this about Trump? 🤡Those 4 years must have been awful for you. Take a day off from your TDS. Not everything needs to be made about your TDS.
@TG16_IS_BAE Do you know what is the funny part?
Most of those that spew "loud minority!" are part of loud minorities that are in search for some justice
And when they are told to shut up because they are just a loud minority the victim card is played and it is "super effective"!
Why am I reading the comments? I know people are going to post all sorts of spoilers and I only just finished the first game. I'd already heard that Joel dies and you play as Ellie, but now I know Ellie kills him. And apparently that spoiler is incorrect 🤷♂️
To be honest I'm not even a little bit shocked as Joel was a self-centered ars*hole through the whole of the first game and still manages to cross a line at the end. He cares more about replacing his daughter and returning to a family life than about what Ellie wants or what the effects would be for the world. I'm interested in finding out what happens as Ellie grows up and maybe finds out she's been lied to, and I can't tell whether this is what I'd get because so many people are butthurt that their toxic masculinity hero isn't the protagonist.
Edit: To be clear I get why Joel was a douche, I get his motivations, the whole thing worked for me and it was a great experience. I just also hated him as a character.
@theheadofabroom "many people are butthurt that their toxic masculinity hero died."
Can you seriously say that with a straight face? Funny stuff man!
Dear loud minority, eat your heart out!
@Zuljaras yes, I can, why are you shocked?
@Esuazo10 Where do I even begin.
"The gaming journalists are so out of touch and this just proves it."
The golden joystyicks are voted for by FANS, it's open to everyone.
"This is the first time I've heard about the golden joysticks awards."
Then you must be new to this. The Golden Joysticks have been running for 38 years and are one of the largest awards every year.
"how many people voted?"
If previous years are anything to go by a lot more than EVERY other award. In 2012 more than 4 MILLION people voted that was a Guinness world record. Let that sink in.
"In 2018 this golden joysticks awards gave Fortnite game of the year over God of War"
Oh no! (Insert game I wanted to win) didn't win. Yeah we get it. Yes God of War was my game of the year too, it was also a platform exclusive meaning less people played it. No need to hate on other's choices, but that seems to be your modus operandi as ably demonstrated by...
"I'm actually rooting for Last of us 2 to win game of the year at the game awards, cause the backlash will huge and just prove that gaming journalists are so out of touch."
Just read back your own sentence. If you think this is a healthy stance... I genuinely think you need to take a step back and get some perspective dude.
To quote the wonderful (GoTY) God of War at you.
"Don't be sorry. Be better."
@djape NOT COOL is you deciding to spoil the game.
Edit your bloody post!
😠😠😠
@themightyant This is a decent response. I don't ever understand why so much hate for a game that someone (and its a fair opinion) doesn't like. This is a game. A toy. A plaything. A form of entertainment. Perspective is certainly required in these circumstances. I read the news yesterday about the young lad who was killed by the wife of an American diplomat who doesn't have to face justice because...well who knows, very sad to read but then come onto this site and people are in uproar at the injustice of a public vote turning out against their own thoughts. Baffling.
@wiiware Your country must suck then.
😜
It deservedly won, deal with it.
@djape spoiler much..?
@Akurusu Hahahahaha.
I'm a fan of this game and NaughtyDog in particular, is that what you're referring to?
@Number09 it’s very much worth it though
@Weebleman can’t wait for factions! Some news would be nice
@StonyKL 100% agree. That Harry Dunn (the boy who was killed) story is heart breaking. I am 100% into my games (too much if i'm honest) but they are just that at the end of the day, games.
Perspective is important
Adored TLoU2, not surprised to see it picked up so many awards last night. Congrats to the team and can't wait to see what Naughty Dog will do on PS5!
Also, big middle finger to the toxic minority that continue to mask their prejudices and fuel their entitlement by hounding this game like it took a dump on their hands.
@Boucho11 not sure how I'm being a knob, but I've spoiler tagged the relevent bit, even though it was only responding to where someone had posted that exact spoiler, which you're saying is incorrect.
Let's not post any more spoilers or what we think are spoilers in this comments section, please.
@Esuazo10 If you take a look at most of these critics its mostly nonsense. Its about politics with most of them and this game is never 1/10 if you only look at the polish and quality alone. And lets face it Metacritic isnt that great its full off biased gamer reviewers that have issues with a wide range of nonsense.
For everyone who spoils here you suck the game isnt that old and why even spoil the story for anyone.
@Flaming_Kaiser @LiamCroft sorry guys, have spoiler tagged now that @djape's comment (which mine was a response to) has been edited. I just got a bit frustrated that my chances of playing the game unspoiled are essentially nil, and didn't realise I could potentially be doing the same for others.
Is this worth the 40€? I liked the first one, but I dont really think its a masterpiece as everyone puts it.
If I could get some honest opinions would be great please
@Esuazo10
Gaming journalists are not journalists, they're writers who bend themselves to please companies to get recognition.
Thats not journalism.
I have yet to see an honest and impartial review for this game from these so-called 'gaming journalists'.
To date, the best review of the game comes from youtube, RennsReviews. The lad provides a balanced review as to why the game is brilliant from a mechanical and design aspect, but is simply not a 10/10 material.
The true judgement to the Last of Us will come on the next release by Naughty Dog, when the players deliver their judgement in terms of purchases.
Its not 0/10, but its not 10/10 either. If you fall in one of those categories. You're either a gaming ''''''journalist'''''' or some sore loser.
@DotM But the fans voted for these awards.
😜
well deserved ND..well deserved.
Love this studio. I feel like a treasure hunt though. Can we get one of those next year ?
I havent played hades or GoT, so can't speak to their quality but the TLOU2 is a great game. Fantastic, intense action coupled with thoughtful introspective moments. Gameplay is an improvement on the first and though I prefer the story of the first game (which is a high point among games), I enjoyed the story. There are certain point where I feel the story is too contrived but I can see the design choices were done to try and illicit some of the feelings that the characters were feeling. Shout to the devs who worked on this
@Col_McCafferty
So? The fans who voted for the awards are not representative of all fans and those fans alone will not drive the sales of the next title.
Additionally, the point I am making in my original comment is more about the reviewing of the actual title itself rather than how people voted.
Naughty Dog absolutely peaked at Uncharted 2. Even the original last of us (that I platinumed twice across ps3 and 4 and played the mp up until the release of the 2nd one when I deleted it) was not as good, and had bits I didn't like. They make beautiful games, no doubt there, but they have got less and less interesting as they have gone on. Uncharted 3 was OK and uncharted 4 was the only one I didn't replay. I have zero interest in tlou2 and potentially any future projects. Insomniac, Santa Monica and Sucker Punch are Sonys best devs and I've said that for a while.
Also, remember opinions are subjective so just because you might love something not everyone else does, no need for everyone to be this defensive about a game ffs.
Edit: @liamcroft or push Square can you please stick in a "newest comment first'' sorting option?
@DotM I bet you anything the next Naughty Dog game (not including Factions) doesn't flop. You and others may want it to but as we have established they still have plenty of fans.
@wiiware You mean a game with a gay protagonist didn't do well in a country that has a region that practices Sharia law and where gay couples don't have the same legal rights as straight ones, with 38% of people saying gay people should be arrested? How strange.
@Col_McCafferty
Me? Why would I want their game to flop? I adored every game Naughty Dog has produced up until Last of Us 2 which I believe has had a very poor story.
But that doesn't mean I wouldn't play their next game or hope it would flop. I'll simply buy it second hand or borrow it.
Not surprising and well deserved. More people liked it than disliked it as shown when it won the vote on this site for favourite game of 2020 so far beating GoT, on Amazon UK 84% of the reviews are 5 Star reviews.
@Kirbyboy92 Pretty sure most people haven't even heard of the reports about the workplace and just know that they enjoyed the game. Just like the average gamer who buys Fifa couldn't care less about EA.
@theheadofabroom @Boucho11 that’s why I was saying that. I’ve deleted my comment and I apologise
@Boucho11 np, we can all get a bit heated at times, and I'd prefer to listen and learn if I was being a knob then just continue doing so 😉
@Wormold troll detected Karen stop whining and going crazy
Congrats to ND! Well deserved! The game is still in my mind everday.
@captainaverage Honestly same on that. I originally preferred a Joel prequel because I didn't want them messing things up regarding that ending. Clearly some feel they did mess things up but, idk, I just accepted that it's their story to tell and tried to keep an open mind.
@SaikoWaifu2003 grow up, kid. I'd love to see a citation of overlap. And even if there was... So what? What's the election got to do with gaming? Stop being a troll.
@Zuljaras Too true! Lol
I highly doubt these votes are even counted. End of the day whatever game the guys running this want to win, will win. No point in getting upset or anything.
TLOS 2 is by far one of the most accessible and cinematic games ever, but is nowhere near the game of the year. The gameplay is repetitive and stale, the ending was the same as every Uncharted game, most characters were one-dimensional and uninteresting, featured too much fluff and long stretches of doing nothing, and wasn't at the same level of storytelling as the original. Part 2 is nowhere near as good as the original. In fact, Doom Eternal and Ghost of Tsushima are far superior games.
I did enjoy playing as Abby and watching her developing a relationship with Lev, but it just doesn't compare to the strong tale told between Joel and Ellie in the original.
I'd probably rate the game an 10+ on presentation, graphics, accessibility, but a 3 on gameplay and 7 on story. This is definitely NOT the ultimate game nor best PlayStation game for 2020.
It wouldn't be my personal pick but these awards aren't exactly handed out based on my personal preference. And TLOU2 is certainly not a bad choice. Well deserved
Only game that I have preordered and bought the special edition and loved it. Played it twice, once after each other, which was great as I had a few beers in first played through and missed some of the plot 😂😂. Can definitely see the TLOU3 being the finale... I'm already ready to get my preorder in 😁
@theheadofabroom my bad y'all
@SaikoWaifu2003 just proved yourself wrong there, haven't you, troll? I don't like Trump, I think he's a giant buffoon. I also think Abby is an amazing character, the best thing about TLOU2. But her arms were over the top, and so was Chris Redfield arms in RE5, I criticised that as well. But at least Resi isn't trying to be grounded and serious, it's a campy horror series, or it was until 7.
Wanna try again? Or has your TDS broken your thinking capacity?
@Matroska Don't blame bad/suck story telling not selling on my country, tlou 1 sells good here and everybody like it even though it has gay and lesbian characters, there's not one gamer that I know saying they don't like the game because there's gay characters lol. Beside the game is really getting negative review on youtube, from usa and worldwide youtubers.
And no, we don't have syaria law in here, only one province have it. Get your fact straight before talking.
@WallyWest Unfortunately (for the game and it's "fan"), it's not made up.
@Col_McCafferty Attacking people country when the game is bad (and not selling) is not a good strategy for making the sequels sells better.
And I don't care about the game "winning" award from some website, in the end it's the game sales (and it's future prospect) that matter.
@WallyWest How can you say that the "haters are a minority" when we don't have any info on the people that voted. Maybe the majority of the people that voted are fans of tlou2. Maybe the people that voted for it, were the same people that spammed 10s on metacritic for the game. I didn't even know about the votes taking place. At the end of the day I don't care about the results. If the haters are a minority then good for ND, but I find it so stupid when people just assume these things based on not much.
@wiiware Mate, Ellie wasn't known as gay in the first game and Joel, the main character, certainly wasn't. Are you referring to Bill? If so big deal, barely mentioned and you don't see anything as 'shocking' as two men kiss. Not the same thing at all and you know it. Oh and the game sold very well, especially in more open-minded countries shall we say. The whiners online might think this will lead to the end of Naugty Dog but I bet you anything their next game sells by the truckload.
@Rubssi You sound a tad paranoid here. I'm a gamer, I voted, I voted for my favourite games. That's all there is to it.
Anyhoo, back in the summer the fans did warn y'all that Part II was going to clean up come award season. You should've listened.
😜
@Rubssi Millions vote in these awards and the game sold millions so work it out.
@Col_McCafferty Look, most gamer didn't care if you're gay, lesbians, white, black, asian, etc, what gamer want is good characters, and that's it, that's the only things they want. Everybody love the walking dead lee & clementine, tlou 1 elly, ghost jin sakai, and others. If the games has compelling characters, gamer will like it, it's as simple as that.
Tlou 2 maybe loved by critics, but the sales shows most players didn't like it, the reason it has big opening sales is because it's the sequel to the one of the greatest game of all time, and the previews and reviews make the story looks like it's another joel & ellie adventure (sony didn't want reviewers to speak about the story). After most gamers knew, well, the unsold & discounted games/special edition speaks for themselves.
@wiiware Yawn and around and around we go.
Not loved by fans, only by critics and yet the Golden Joystick awards are voted for by the public!
Explain that one, Sherlock.
😜
@Col_McCafferty This is the first time I heard golden joystick award, and I've been following gaming news since back in the n64.com days, the only award I know is geoff keighley award shows, I don't think many gamers know about GJA shows.
I think we should end this here and let's just agree to disagree, the simple explanation why tlou 2 story is bad is simply because all the good writer at ND (amy hennig and bruce straley) already left, and the one writer left (neil druckmann) is kind of suck at story telling. Sadly, it's just fact that we have to accept
FWIW, and I'm going to show my age here, I have been aware of the golden joysticks since the '90s when I started buying PC gaming mags, they were featured every year including the nominations and how to vote.
A dark game but brilliant levels still not as good as the 1st one!
@wiiware Hmm, it's not a fact though its your opinion.
Nice try though!
@Col_McCafferty I'm not being paranoid, I'm just offering a different perspective. I see people using this as some sort of evidence that the people who didn't like the game are a vocal minority. I'm just saying this doesn't prove much omo. It's like if I say "oh if the last of us 2 did so well, then why haven't they updated sales numbers (like GOT) and why is the game already 50% off ". I think you would agree that this is not proof that the game performed poorly.
@WallyWest Just wondering how do you know millions voted? Genuine question, since the video announcing the game won GOTY barely surpassed 30k views.
@oldschool1987 They won't be happy before everyone say they absolutely loved it. They are the vocal minority fellating a game that most people thought was "above average", "good" or "pretty good". Still not enough for them lol.
@PlayStationPlayer Death Stranding won PC game of the year ffs.These awards are basically just a popularity contest and have no credibility whatsoever.
@Turbodream I'm in the very good catagory. But I have some criticisms, and when I bring them up I get called a troll, or trump supporter, or misogynist.
Have to say though in regards to your Death Stranding comment. I genuinely adored that game.
@Col_McCafferty why are you attacking everyone that disagrees with you?
@oldschool1987 My main problem with Death Stranding winning best PC game is the "PC" part. It's like if Cuphead won best Playstation game. My choice would have been Half-Life Alyx.
@Turbodream Half-Life: Alyx looks absolutely incredible. I'm holding out hope it comes to next gens PSVR. I agree with you there, everything I see about HL:A looks to be a game changer.
It appears to me that this game is the 'Marmite' of games, you either love it or hate it, which is fine as everyone is entitled to thier own opinions. What I don't get is that people that don't like it have a vendetta against it and try explain to others why it is s#it. There are a few highly rated games which I don't like or agree as good as others say but I see no need to bad mouth them to the peeps that love them, in fact I think, good for you enjoying a game I didn't, I'm enveyous you got something out of the game which I didn't.
@oldschool1987 It's not really attacking is it? Anyway when people come on here spouting lies then they deserve to be called out on them.
@Col_McCafferty so you're not being rude and insulting? OK. What lies? Genuinely asking.
@Rubssi Because millions vote for these awards and have been for years.
@WallyWest So my question was how do you know millions voted and your response is "because millions voted for these awards and have been for years". Do I seriously need to clarify that I was asking for some sort of source/evidence?
@Rubssi I mean it has a world record for voting where explicitly says millions, so if millions vote in these awards and TLoUP2 won then it doesn't take a genius to work out millions voted for it.
