Update: CD Projekt RED has said that it's “working hard” to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to the PS Store as soon as possible, following Sony’s unprecedented decision to delist the title.
Its statement, in full, is presented below:
What a bonkers turn of events!
Original Story: In an unprecedented and frankly mind-blowing move, Sony has removed Cyberpunk 2077 for sale from the PlayStation Store until further notice. The company said that it “strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction” and that it will offer refunds to anyone who purchased the open world RPG from the PS Store if requested.
This follows a dismal week for developer CD Projekt RED, who apologised for not paying “enough attention” to the way the title performed on standard PS4 consoles. The company also prevented media – like Push Square – from seeing the title on console until hours before launch. The rest, of course, is history, as the release has been mired by bugs and performance issues.
The Polish studio has since said that it aims to make the game “playable [and] stable, without glitches and crashes”, with a new patch due before Christmas and a further two scheduled for January and February respectively. The financial cost of all this, according to the company, is “irrelevant”, as it seeks to rebuild its reputation.
Sony has done the right thing in the end here, of course. There were reports last weekend that it was honouring some refund requests, but after a statement from CD Projekt RED suggested that fans would be able to get their money back from PS Store purchases, the platform holder started blocking them. It’s now launched a page dedicated specifically to refunds for this particular title.
Of course, the Japanese giant will need a much better digital returns policy moving forwards, but this is a good start. If you want to get your money back, then you can follow the steps through here, although please keep in mind that you won’t be able to play the game if you do request a refund. For those of you who want to purchase Cyberpunk 2077, then you’re either going to have to pick up a physical copy – or wait for it to be republished on the PS Store.
Just to be clear, if you already own Cyberpunk 2077 and don’t want to request a refund, then you’ll be able to continue playing on either your PS5, PS4 Pro, or PS4 unobstructed. You’ll also receive all future patches as promised by CD Projekt RED, and the title will remain in your library.

This is unprecedented and a massive move from Sony. This saga just gets more and more unbelievable.
This is nuts! I've seen a fair few bad launches in my time, but I never in my wildest dreams could have ever imagined that a game as high profile as Cyberpunk 2077 could be removed from the PS Store!
Just... Wow!
Absolutely insane! What a fall from grace, shame as I know so many were so excited for this one. Hope it event turns into a positive story!
CD Projekt shareholders seeing Red.
There's your gaming headline.
@redd214 I know right, it's basically turned into a soap opera. The word "unprecedented" has been thrown around a lot this year but it fits here too.
Unprecedented for a game of this size. Life of Black Tiger is still on there, for heaven's sake!
I was expecting that statement to clarify that the game will be removed from the user’s library, it’s a little strange that it doesn’t make that clear, even if it is a given.
What is all the more disappointing is that the PS5 version - the “proper” version of this game - is now likely a long way off. All efforts are now being put into a version of the game that arguably should not have been released. Perhaps the game should have just released to PC and the console version should have followed later on on next-gen only. Fellow Polish developers Techland halted the PS3 version of Dying Light and it’s highly probably its sequel will skip the last generation now too.
While I do feel somewhat bad for CD Projekt and more especifically the developers who I'm sure had no say in releasing it now I will admit I'm enjoying all this drama.
I’m wondering if the game will still push out patches for those of us who still have it?
Wow this is absurd. I'm over 50 hours in with just 2 crashes on a ps4 pro. Yes its buggy. Yes its blurry. But it's such an amazing game.
I prefer we can refund our games like steam, but this is work fine too, good job 😃
Also this is really bad for cdp, they really screwed themselves by not delaying the ps4 port of the game.
Wow, well done Sony.
Huge downfall for CDPR, and deserved. Their claims and deception border on fraud and they absolutely made Sony look bad, as they trusted them regarding certification.
This is more of a message to future developers
@jmac1686 It will, yeah.
@Jayslow u cant play it now?
Good on Sony for doing this.
I was looking to write on here that, I'm hardly seeing any promotion of the game on the PS Store, it was missing in New Games, What's Hot etc. What a disaster! It's real sad tbh. CDPR should take console seriously next time.
Fantastic news! Why it was allowed to be released in the state it was in I'll never know (just kidding, we all know why 💲💲💲)
daaaaaaaaaaaamn. Sony be like : get this trash outta here
This was the right thing to do on Sony’s part. I can see Microsoft following suit very soon. And CDPR now has to deal with the clusterf*** for the foreseeable future.
these guys threw Sony under the bus with that statement, so I guess something had to give... I bet physical copies become hot ticket items now
@TheArt They took it off the PS Blog a couple of days ago as well. Previously they had a big promotional banner for it.
@Vacuumator I don't think it will unless you request a refund. You can probably still play it (or try to) if you don't. Just won't be available to new buyers.
@Jayslow @Jayslow same . I’m enjoying the game tbh
Staggering. I hope this is a lesson that CDPR takes very seriously. Genuinely unreal.
On this very article I am still getting ads for Cyberpunk 2077. Will PushSquare join Sony on the moral high ground?
Not so breathtaking is it?
People need to actively NOT SUPPORT management that actively deceives consumers to pad their pockets. It's not enough to provide refunds or frankly even for Sony to remove the game (presumably until it passes certification?).
CDPR should be banned and have their PS account removed for actively engaging in deception and IMO fraud... if any PS user did same, Sony would ban no questions or recourse.
Their apology rings hollow and stinks with "steal now, repent later" mentality - all too common these days. For me, its Goodbye CDPR! I will never buy a game with your involvement.
@ellsworth004 its delisted. So those who already bought it cant purchase it anymore. So yes I can still play it. But as others have pointed out theres games like Life of black Tiger. I feel this was more pushback to CDPR offering discounts which they dont have the ability to do, and also due to the advertising exclusivity they must have with microsoft.
@Voltan
I meant that it’s strange that it doesn’t state that once you claim a refund, you lose access to the game. This is of course common sense, but from a legal point of view, it’s surprising that isn’t made clear and not hidden away in small print.
This is huge. OMG. I'm completely flabbergasted.
@Jayslow @ellsworth004 I've added an extra paragraph to the article to make it clear that you'll still be able to play the game, receive patches, etc if you already purchased it and don't want to request a refund.
@Jayslow "So those who already bought it cant purchase it anymore."
Why would they?
Holy crap. This is absolutely insane, I’ve never seen a game actually delisted in this way, not even Life of Black Tiger. With this and a rightful backlash after they bent over for the CCP by delisting Devotion on GOG, yet another bad week for CDPR.
Daaaaaamn. Meanwhile I'm about 25 hours in on PS5 and loving it. What an unbelievable mess CDPR created here.
@KippDynamite
Or Fallout 76
That’s great news, glad they are taking the time to make things right.
Once again i'm glad i cancelled my Xbox 1 pre-order when i did
They BRAGGED about making back development costs DAY ONE!! That's because they KNEW they wouldn't on day two. F-CDPR.
The story just gets crazier and crazier as it goes on. Sad thing is I enjoy the game it’s not bad it’s just so darn buggy and broken and it’s not acceptable especially being a game marketed for PS4 and Xbox one and it doesn’t even work on them. I play ps5 I get Error coded every 20 minutes and kicked out so it’s hard for me to get immersed and a good friend of mine made it to the end and did 60% of the side quests all his saves got busted whenever he starts the game and tries to load he gets completely kicked off the game we both play PS5 it’s pretty bad
this now has to be officially worse than the No Man’s Sky initial release surely… at least it ran acceptably! 😝
@Cycologist lol I'm assuming I meant those who haven't purchased. But then I said the word already.....yeah idk. I type without fully thinking but yeah obviously that's not what I meant
I’m reminded of the PS3 version of Shadow of Mordor. It’s a truly hideous port and really is so far removed from its PS4 counterpart, just check out the comparison videos for proof. This version also cutback the Nemesis system, which was the game’s main selling point.
Perhaps once the PS5 version of Cyberpunk releases, the last-generation version will be looked upon in even harsher light? With all focus on fixing this broken version, how long will we have to wait to play the game as intended on the current generation?
Still can't believe this has happened to be honest. I must admit, I've personally been enjoying the game a lot on PS5.
I wonder if they're just seeing an outrageously high number of crash reports coming from this game or something. It's just mental that this has happened.
what happens with the disc version? can people buy that to play on PS5?
@get2sammyb I was pretty sure their reports inbox was full yesterday as it stopped you being able to send them after a crash. Back to normal now though :/
No Man's Sky was a small studio with too many ideas. Cyberpunk 2077 is a reasonably large studio driven by CEO/investor greed. Sony needs to stamp it out or every investor-led studio will follow.
THIS takes the prize of biggest disaster of a launch this gen and Fallout 76 happened which says a lot.
Get your refunds people and never pre order a CDPR game ever again. What a sh*tshow
In all honesty I wasn't expecting Sony to do this.
Guess they seen the writing on the wall and decided to act.
The thing is, Sony must have a very good reason to do this. It might be the data — maybe Sony received an extreme amount of error reports from players to the point where company policy basically says that the game has to be removed.
Or perhaps CDPR's recent comments (and actions) didn't go down too well with Sony and it just decided to show no mercy. God knows.
What we do know is that this will be a huge blow to CDPR. Sales data said Cyberpunk 2077 sold best on PC, but it was still a huge seller on consoles — we're talking millions of copies. To have one of those key revenue streams removed (just before Christmas, no less!) is gigantic.
Will be a fascinating few days as more information inevitably starts to leak.
Would Sony have done this if it was they and not MS with the marketing deal? Will MS follow suit? They should of course. But they might try to fan the idea that Sony are doing this as their version is worse (which it isn’t). Interesting. Very interesting.
MS now have this console 'exclusive' game, which is also now so popular for all the wrong reasons!
@ShogunRok here's a theory: without changing their policy, they can't give refunds for a game unless it's actually unplayable - and if it's unplayable, it can't be on the store. This is probably the only way they could do this. Now whether that decision was based on number of crash reports and refund requests or it was CDPR asking them to do it - that's another thing.
@Voltan Yeah, that's a good shout! Makes sense!
@ShogunRok There was a Bloomberg report as shared by @Ralizah that said the founders of CDPR had lost a billion dollars between them because the share price plummeted due to the Cyberpunk fiasco. You don’t get much more of a blow than that.
HAHAHAHAHAH TOSS A COIN TO THE WITCHER, in your face cdpr!
What a beautiful, beautiful mess. Like a car crash in ultra hi-def slow motion.
Beep beep mother f#©*e®!
It's funny that there were a bunch of people who actually took a day off just to play this game but now they can't wait to get their money back.
What an absolute joke this launch turned out to be.
As much as I'm loving my time with this game on PS5, CDPR deserve this kinda ball busting over lying to their fans, delivering a broken product for most last gen users, hiding the game from the masses and reviewers up till launch day in certain countries, then acting like they're doing god's work with refunds when they really just put pressure on Sony as they knew they would be rejecting refunds so CDPR could say "hey it isn't our fault guys it's Sony!" So Sony have responded by saying "f©c* your game and come back to us when it's ready", my favourite game company man, gotta love Sony! 💙
All that goodwill, gone in the space of a week.
This is why you should value your fans over your net worth CDPR!
This is how you do it... Garbage version.... Kill it... Do refunds.
Hopefully PS5 gets the PC version. Play it then or stream it. Cyberpunk is not worth playing on PS4.
so for what i can gather, the refund is automatic? i dont have to do a thing?... can anyone confirm this? pls
@get2sammyb glad they made this move
@Jayslow Almost 60 here, had about 7 crashes. Loving the game. But I wonder if we keep the game, are we gonna get something for sticking to it? Like we could be graced wiht the paid DLC for fre... One could dream....
@fabisputza00 You need to request it through the web page linked in the article. It's not automatic.
Someone at Sony must have had a moment of profound self-awareness and made it a point not to become the bad guys in a situation they aren’t responsible for.
Still a good move though. Hopefully it leads to them reevaluating their refund policy. One thing at a time I suppose.
The game is so broken in ps4 vanilla it made Sony consumer-friendly looool. Sucks if anyone wanted to buy it but is a big step for PS.
People keep bringing up Fallout 76 and Anthem, but remember, those games had Betas months before release, people knew how those games where running and looking months in advance.
With cyberpunk they purposely hid away the ps4/xbox one versions and then told us afterwards how they ignored signs on what the performance would be like on those consoles.
@Jayslow Just two crashes? Damn you're lucky. I'm up to about 12, I think, over 40 hours of play.
Hope Microsoft follows suit. Console versions of this game should all had been delayed.
@zekepliskin yeah I know I'm in the minority from talking with friends. I'm guessing cause im playing as a stealthy netrunner. So maybe since there isnt as much going on in my screen times less likely to crash? Idk
This story "How to ruin your reputation in just within a week" sadly fits perfectly into 2020 narrative.
@zekepliskin Don't call people who spent $60+ on a game, that they were deceived into thinking was a finished product, whiners. That's ridiculously condescending. CDPR royally botched the release of this game, and have only continued to make themselves look worse in the aftermath. And this is coming from someone who is actively enjoying their Cyberpunk 2077 experience on PS4 Pro and has no plans to request a refund. I'm extremely disappointed that a developer I held in such high esteem has absolutely been tanking their reputation this past week.
@get2sammyb So, what's your best comparison game for this situation? I know No Man's Sky was bad, and Aliens Colonial Marines was a disaster, but this is a first for me. I do think a few games have been pulled from Nintendo eShop, possibly even with a refund, but those were like $1 games nobody had ever heard of, not AAA $60. Daikatana is the closest I can think of for this much negativity, but I don't think anybody bought it to have to refund it.
Since it might be before your time:
https://uk.pcmag.com/gaming-gear/127095/20-years-ago-john-romeros-daikatana-nearly-destroyed-dooms-legacy
@Salt_AU "I would say I have had 10 or 12 crashes."
Same. And I error report each one, with video, something I've never done before. Sony needed to get the message and take drastic action.
The thing that worries me though, is that at CDPR's end it's gonna cause more crunch to fix it. Way worse crunch than before.
I am getting Access Denied and unable to load or enter the link even when switching the address to my region PSN.
@mwatcher I'm not so sure because didn't Microsoft pay for exclusive marketing for this. I can't even imagine playing this on an OG Xbox One though. PS4 Pro has been mostly stable and I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far
@NOLIMITGHST So if that's true, and the PS5 is running the PS4 Pro version, then the PS4 Pro version running on the Pro itself is actually starting to sound less buggy. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
finally some credibility for the certification process. too bad cdpr had to set the example (for a problem that was prevalent for YEARS) and it wasn't ubisoft or bethesda with their dumper fire games prior, but this will hopefully send a message.
where are the cdpr appologists hiding?
@TheLightSpirit That sounds about right, after all, The Witcher 3 was a buggy crashy mess at launch too but it improved over the years and almost never wigs out on you now.
Good that Sony is offering refunds. I think pulling the game off the PS Store is a bit of an overreaction.
@rjejr Never seen anything like this before. A first.
God damn man. Even marvel's avengers which is freaking garbage is still up. God damn.
@Jayslow Maybe. For me what usually causes it to wig out is a lot of driving around the city. Seems that it starts to drag down the FPS and then eventually something like runs out of RAM and crashes the Pro.
@zekepliskin yeah that makes sense. Both of my crashes were while driving.
My God.. what have you done CD Projekt Red? Now, a very strong case can be made that Cyberpunk 2077 was the worst video-game launch in history (worse than the No Man’s Sky, Fallout 76, etc.)
This is a new level of low and I hope some people stop using the argument "every game is buggy at launch" as some kind of excuse for this horror show we are witnessing.
Called it day 1 no one believed me. Unfortunately i don't feel smug about it
@TheLightSpirit Didn't Warner Bros themselves recall it voluntarily? This is forced by Sony. Which is good, I'm sure the sales weren't worth the toll on customer service.
I mean I probably sent them about 5 crash reports today. I was enjoying the game but the crashes just did it for me and I requested a refund. Also for some reason the blurriness also gave me a headache and made it hard for my eyes to focus while driving in the game.
@get2sammyb From the recently released transcript, Michał Nowakowski said, “In terms of the certification process and the third parties – this is definitely on our side. I can only assume that they trusted that we’re going to fix things upon release, and that obviously did not come together exactly as we had planned.“
This is deeper than just a bad game. Sony is protecting their own legitimacy and reputation at this point. Combined with the inevitable error reports and the fact that CDPR tried to dump the refund mess in Sony’s lap, boy do we have an unbelievable situation here. As a publicly traded company, I’d say there’s a high probability of some execs losing their jobs after this mess. Unreal.
Wonderful. I'm glad because it's not OK to let this kind of actions slip away. From Sony's side, maybe it's like the game really shouldn't have passed the certification process, so it's kind of a rollback and that's why the game is removed.
This will be the end of CD Projekt Red. I will be surprised if they ever make another game again.
I have a theory.
Maybe this will be the event that starts to turn the tide on games being released in unstable, alpha type states and relying on day one patches to fix them.
This sends a clear message out to other developers that if it goes horribly wrong, the biggest console maker out there will boycott you to safeguard their reputation.
You could argue this has been coming for YEARS. When standards slip, something has to happen to right the ship before it keels over.
Looks like Last of Us 2 has just lost the title of most controversial game of 2020.
Jaw dropping... it's staggering. I haven't purchased Cyberpunk yet to have first hand experience of the bugs but I do wonder how shovelware like Life of Black Tiger or those absolutely garbage Gilson Pontez (Pontes?) games still have a place on the psn store. Part of me feels like its a bit of grandstanding on sony's part to capitalize on the buzz of the day rather than a true commitment to quality software. Unless they truly think Life of Black Tiger is actually worth 10 USD.
Edit- I know maybe a false equivalence given the publicity and hype Cyberpunk had , but let's not pretend Sony are the protectors of consumer rights.
I guess CDPR did show us a glimpse of the Dark Future after all. Terrifying.
@TBubs311 The amount of people that actually bought Cyberpunk and asking for refunds do not even compare to people that bought Life of Black you could probably count them on both hands.
2020: No, I'm breathtaking
Amazon only delivered my copy two days ago but I've kept it sealed because I'm waiting for the PS5 upgrade before playing, which was always my intention even before this disastrous launch.
But this timeline were living in surprises even me. Breathtaking.
@Ridwaano - This in a nutshell (although to be fair, CDPR should've just ignored them and delayed the game about a year after that initial April release date).
@Clemerek - Possibly, at least that game was polished and pristine (let alone functional) on a technical level; this game doesn't even meet minimal functional requirements (heck, it might even outdo AC Unity in this department) to the point that it's being pulled from the PS Store.
This is the right thing to do.
The game was rushed because shareholders got greedy. I'm assuming upper management did too with all the crunch.
Sony did the right thing.
Guess I be taken my daughters ps4 Christmas 🎄 game back to Best Buy.
This is No Man's Sky all over again, although with a bigger studio. Hopefully it can recover like NMS did after a few patches.
Why does this controversy feel so delicious? I shouldn't be enjoying this.
Btw, does this mean if you already own it, you could rush to complete it, then get a full refund, so you essentially got to play the game for free?
I think cdpr being not fair for not letting console version to be reviewed/looked before the release.. as if they hiding it and know that is broken,, i guess they punch themselves this time, for what it is i keep my copy of the game and wait for the patches come to my ps4pro.. in baseball this is their first strike.. they have made a proper apology lets just wait for the patches to come.. at the end of the day its just a game.. and cyberpunk is a good one
@redd214 games awesome regardless of the few bugs I've seen on Ps5. I'm in for the long haul
@RainbowGazelle Just what I did! I'll be replaying the game, completing the side content I missed and doing the other endings when the next gen patch comes out.
I think I deserve some compensation for the constant PS5 system crashes this game caused in its last 5 or so hours! Literally had one every 25 minutes!
I stuck with Drive Club and No Mans Sky. Both were games I knew I wanted. I will stick with Cyberpunk 2077 I know CDPR will do the right thing.
@DonJorginho Damn, it’s even affecting your playthrough that badly? That seriously sucks, I know how much you’ve been enjoying it 😬😬
The button on the page isn't working for me. Anyone got it working?
What a mess. I think this really highlights the gap between the executives and the dev team. Guaranteed those who were working on this day and night knew they should bite the bullet and delay into 2021 but the higher ups probably mandated that it come out before Christmas. Now they get the fruits of that decision.
@SwitchVogel Don’t forget that the original tabletop game is called Cyberpunk 2020, they couldn’t not release the game in 2020.
@nessisonett before I had about a crash every hour and a half, not the best but bearable, but once I started the final main questline the game's quality took a nosedive, constant crashes, constant animations glitching, key audio cutting out, it was a really sour end to my playthrough as I was loving it and had dedicated 43 hours into it! But I've decided the game just isn't up to scratch in terms of performance, quality and polish wise, so I've requested a refund and as said earlier will save the other endings, lifepaths and other content for the next gen patch!
Sony be like 'Geralt of here Cyberpunk 2077'.
Make no doubt about it, this is absolutely massive news. It will be fascinating to see the impact on CD Project's share price when the market reopens. Im assuming it's going to tank further than it has over the past couple of weeks.
Hopefully it will be good news for gamers everywhere, as AAA developers across the piste are going to have to step up and take notice that such behaviour is unacceptable.
And whilst it's good that Sony have taken note and taken such drastic action, hopefully they revisit their own certification procedures for allowing games to release in their ecosystem. They need some form of 'nintendo badge of quality' style system where they won't allow games with so many issues to release
@nessisonett Lol imagine if that was actually the reason they released it! I just see headlines like this and hope management gets taken to task over it. It’s pretty clear to me that the devs did the best they could with impossible expectations placed on them from higher up the chain. If that isn’t addressed, this’ll just happen again with the next game.
CrookDPR:
'if you arent happy you 'can' opt for a refund. We are breathtaking. You are welcome!'
Sony:
Take that you little b*!
What a burning slap! Haha
Called for a refund 3 days ago. Sony denied it. When I want to go to the page where you can call for the refund like in the link above it is 404 error... wtf. I live in germany btw. Could someone help me please? Thanks in advance!
@SwitchVogel I don´t want to sound rude man, but seriously what is this game? There are more complex and 100 times better looking games out there. It was in developement for 8 years! This is the result of a 8 year long developement REALLY?! Reality has them back. Shame on them. And I like how Sony is managing this now. Despite of I cannot go to the refund page atm.
I'm amazed that they released this game when they did. I know there must have been pressures to do so to capture the Christmas Market but they would have been fully aware of the issues the game had but they released it anyway. Everything they have been saying post launch is not a case of hindsight, to me it just smacks of 'we thought we'd get away with this' but turns out folk aren't happy with a broken game. It's a shame but they really only have themselves to blame. I was looking forward to playing this over the holidays but gonna wait now until I have a Ps5 to get it.
Poor show CDPR
@Yinx unfortunately no.
The worst part is they said it ran "suprisingly well" on consoles in interviews and then hid the product from sight. That shows prior knowledge, bad-faith, and a cover-up. This could easily turn into a class-action lawsuit with the CDPR being force to compensate early adopters. If Sony even smells a whiff of that, the game may not be back on PSN for awhile...
Speechless I think it makes history as the 1st AAA game to be removed form the playstation store. They must have been flooded with complaints and refund requests.
@ORO_ERICIUS I agree. I haven't bought it myself, but from all the footage I've seen online, it looks like just another cool open world shooter. I haven't seen anything really game changing here on a mechanical level, and while it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a super innovative game, it does at least need to be a stable one.
Wow, just wow is all I can say.😮
@SwitchVogel 100% true
@Jayslow I’m absolutely loving it, I think the game itself is awesome from the world to the characters, I also think the gun play is amazing the guns feel heavy and sound awesome, iv only had one crash so far so iv been lucky unfortunately there isn’t any reason for a game to launch in this state but it’s such a common thing and I really don’t think it would be making as many headlines if they hadn’t delayed and delayed and made promises, I mean look at Bethesda/Ubisoft/EA almost all there game are released as broken messes and now it just slides because” you know what there like”
Well that makes it official, this is the sh**iest launch this gen
Excellent news! Makes me feel a little bit more protected by Sony, which is always a good thing.
And as for CDPR, they deserve to feel the burn of this for years, because hiding the game and misrepresenting it publicly should be a punishable crime (goes without saying, but never again buying their game again).
Great news, well done to Sony.
Everyone harping on about how it ran really well on PS5, well apart from 60fps... it really doesn’t
Hilariously, this article has a huge Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox advert behind it for me. It's also fittingly one using the tag 'ERROR REBOOT_REQUIRED//'.
I think they should of put more effort it to get the base consoles working a bit better before Christmas. Sysing January/February upset a lot of people.
Also the developer hiding the base console footage and taking down footage off Youtube ahead of the games release is disgusting as they knew it would make a lot of people cancel their pre-orders.
I bought the game to play on PS5 but i will just wait till February as there's plenty of other games out there to play in the meantime.
Timeline(as I see it): CDPR gets greedy and releases unfinished game even after nearly a decade.
Sony offer refunds
CDPR offer refunds but also want people to have faith in them so Sony stop giving refunds
Sony is defamed in comment sections
Finally (hopefully), Sony removes the game.
@get2sammyb I'd been curious the last few days what'd been happening with ps4 gamers in Australia getting digital refunds via PSN support & looks like Sony were pulling the same support centre generic non-response....thing is they'd already been fined $3.5 million AU for breaching Aussie Consumer Law this year.
https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/12/gamers-are-lucky-to-live-in-australia/
Some Aussies were already starting to contact the ACCC after being denied refunds. Only speculation, but if the ACCC had contacted Sony it could've been elevated beyond their "support" bots. They were warned they could've faced $64 million in fines last time....and they were spared implementing a Steam style system then. That might not have been the case if they got in trouble again. But agree from a consumer standpoint Sony should implement a sensible refund system.
Insane. This game was in development for a long time. If it started on last gen consoles I don't understand why they couldn't get it running better on PS4 and Xbox One out of the gate. Did they shift all development to next gen and figure they'd fix the current gen later on? I would assume more people would still get the game on PS4 or Xbox One given how many of those systems are out there, and how few next gen systems are available so far.
Well, now I don't even know what to do..
So far I'm enjoing it, but now I'm afraid CDPR will crash and I will end up stuck with fairly unfinished product.
Don't even know if I should refund..
Well done to Sony! This was fraud by the way, no maybe about it. Really hope developers get the message, we would like games to be released when finished, sick of umpteen patches and memory doubling after release it’s a nightmare for storage and it also stops me buying new games at release. Technology isn’t an excuse, developers had to work with much worse hardware 20 years ago and pretty much all AAA games worked fine on release.
Holy geeze.... This is a whole new level of unprecedented disaster. Beyond Unity. Beyond Fallout 76. This is gaming history.
@JapaneseSonic yes but my point is people act like developers used today’s hardware 20 years ago. They didn’t, so it’s not an excuse just to say ‘oh well it’s more complex now so we need day 1 patches every time’. They beta tested whoever bought this game and you know it!
I guess bricks n mortar stores will follow suit soon.
If any of them survive into the new year.
The near future..
eBay, going cheap, PS4 disk version of CP2077, unwrapped, brand spanking, it's got a map n stickers and everyfink. Can I get £50?
Anyone? Anyone?....🤣🤣🙄🙄
If anyone IS looking to offload it on eBay though, and might be thinking, balls to it lump it out for 20 to 30 notes, that could be a cheap buy if someone is prepared to sit on it for a few months.
I wouldn't call it a shrewd investment by any stretch though.
@MattyHammo this is unlike NMS. Have to stand up and defend Hello Games here. NMS worked great upon release, it was and still is a very well-crafted game. The problem with NMS was consumer expectations. And yes, that was in part due to PR promises, but even more so because people were way too hyped. It might not be the game people wanted, but on it own it was a very decent game at launch.
CDPR delivered not only a disappointing game in the eye of the consumer, but most of all a broken game.
Justice for Hello Games!
Just goes to show doesn't it that CDPR are just like EA, Activision don't show gameplay for previous gen cause you know it's not ready. But then don't delay it again because gamers are losing patience (death threats and all sad idiots), to moving on to something else. And then releasing it broken to cash in while hype is high but the damage is done now I can't see them making this game any better. I've seen how bad the AI is in the open world and a lot of have said patches won't fix it but a complete overhaul. I expect a new revision when the so called GOTY comes out and I'll gladly wait for that
Unbelievable. Fair play it’s a massive move from Sony. MS have to follow suit now, even if it’s a bit more complicated as they have the advertising deal with CDPR.
@TheArt It wasn't that they didn't take it seriously I don't think they expected it to take this long and they soon realised that the project was bigger. I believe they knew PS4 and x1 wasn't up to the task but with that market of systems sold and to much money to lose to skip it for next gen, they knew they couldn't do it. Unfortunately it was management that decided to do the EA/Activision way and con the consumer with a broken pile of mess that should have been delayed for another year.
But when they get death threats and stock holders demanding the game be released (because most of these investors have no clue) they want there money back from investment. And here we are a game that needs major patches to get up to scratch if they knew the state it was upon release they should have delayed it till march 2021 to get these fixed and the game optimized more
One goes another came in:
Spiderman Remastered is now available seperately to buy in the playstation store. 49,99€ a bit too much imo
I think the moral from all this mess is stop defending whatever devs say out of mere hype and trust before the game is out. That's for gamers and journalists alike.
Seriously, I've see people being toxic and trying to silence gamers just because they were saying they would love a third person view in the game.
And so I discovered cloud gaming, I had a ps5 but I sent it back, bit of the same story, unfinished product. Bought a Shield a few months ago but only used it for Plex, took the gamble with Cyberpunk and must say, it is spectacular.
@get2sammyb Cyberpulled
You can hire me to write the sub headers.
Forgot to say, never, ever pre order.
@get2sammyb is it not unprecedented how much the game journalists turned agains cyberpunk.
Well thats the outcome when every game site (pushsquare included) rallies pitchforks ready to take a game down.
@Spoonman-2 It doesn't even run a fully lock 60FPS. There are dips under 60FPS and the PS5 basically just running the PS4 Pro version. It doesn't even get the bulk of improvements found in Xbox Series X|S version.
Holy smokes. This is a spectacular mess, and what's staggering to me is that they didn't anticipate this at all. Surely at some point somebody who works there must have actually seen the game they were making. Insanity.
@JJ2 I said I'd give the game a chance if there were a 3rd person option and was attacked, of course. You can't argue with fanboys.
wow, this is a big move, its probably not the worst performing product on their page. I mean I still can't get fallout 3 dlc to run.
It is a shame there’s isn’t CHOICE and a warning would have been better. Launch state was unacceptable for MY tastes on base systems BUT Plenty of people have a higher tolerance for bugs, jank and low frame rates seem to be enjoying it. What of those with a Pro or PS5. Choice would be better
Unintended consequences
@Nakatomi_Uk But they said it themselves - "This follows a dismal week for developer CD Projekt RED, who apologised for not paying “enough attention” to the way the title performed on standard PS4 consoles"
It was a whole mess in game production direction. They needed to make sure it was running absolutely fine on base hardware before optimizing for better hardware, not the other way round, as simple as that. I always saw them as a dev that puts PC first and now it's glaringly obvious.
@Vacuumator Should we start telling people they should drink boiling hot water? Come on i believe people arent that stupid.
@themightyant If this is the way it will go maybe its time too look if gaming is worth it in the end. If you cant put a decent product out there in 8 years then maybe there is a bigger issue.
This may have been clarified deep within the 176 comments here already, but... did they actually delist the PS5 port for good measure?🤔
@rjejr daikatana was more an early form of unfounded hype running away from a development hell bland game that didn't come close to its promises, but wasn't horribly broken like cyberpunk. We have a newer updated name for games like that now:. Peter Molyneaux titles.
@Flaming_Kaiser
That’s not what I’m saying. I’m stating that a simple “you will be refunded and the game will be removed from your account/system” message wouldn’t go amiss. I don’t really see an issue in that for the purposes of clarification. Perhaps some clarity regarding what happens when you claim a refund for a digital item is needed for the uninitiated/stupid?
Looking at the T&C’s, there actually seems to be no provision in this particular instance, as it only covers games not yet downloaded to a user’s system. Arguably, if it is not stated anywhere that the game is to be removed from your system and account, could people not say that they still have a right to keep the game?
Playing on pro, but I've had few issues. Some textures slow to load. 3 crashes maybe. And one or two glitches with enemies. Has seemed pretty smooth for me considering the things people are saying.
How did CDPR make such a monumental mistake like this? They knew full well that the game was broken! There must've been developers saying to management "this is going to destroy our reputation" and they were just ignored? There is a great game to be found under all this mess but they should've delayed it again
CDPR did this, not Sony. No kudos for Sony and their garbage policies. Never forget NMS and Fallout 76.
Fail of the year confirmed
@themightyant E.T. was a console exclusive for Atari. I'm not sure that's a beneficial distinction.
I'm just setting up for work now and I have just submitted my request for a refund, almost like a Christmas miracle. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the zoom board meetings deciding what to do next. I was just getting crash upon crash on my poor ps4 Pro.
@nhSnork As far as I am aware there is no PS5 port. Everyone playing this game on PS5 is playing the PS4 version via backwards compatibility.
Crazy, crazy times. 2020 continues to surprise right to the death, and not in a good way. Can't imagine how tense the meetings between Sony and CDPR must have been. Oof.
@Vacuumator But if you return something thats normal isnt it? People arent that stupid are they what do you think you get a refund and keep the game? You buy a sweater and return it and say too the store holder yeah give me my money back and ill keep the sweater. The product is a digital thing and you get your money back so you have no right too use the product anymore its nothing mindbogling is it. 😅
Just requested a refund, i can't enjoy it in the state its in so i just want my money back.
@Flaming_Kaiser
But it still needs to state this in a legal disclaimer.
We have a saying in Polish that fits perfectly here: "What a beautiful disaster..."
@Iroha that explains it, thanks.
But, but, ONLY Sony has game exclusives. In fact the word exclusive didn't exist before PlayStation.
I think I'm going to cry fanboy tears. Why can't I be a macho jerk who fights completely unneeded console wars anymore? Please help me Pushsquare, with your console war talk in articles please restore my faith in my God Sony as the only admirable worthy and powerful deliverer of games on the planet.
@Mpquikster there totally is. This will very much hurt pre orders for their next game
@Kidfried Unfortunately Nintendo Seal Of Quality doesn't mean what it used to. There was a good article on Nintendo Life about it a while back.
I'm glad I don't care for this game. I'd be wanting my money back too if I would have gotten scammed like this. The Projekt Red people deserve all the bad press they're getting. "Sorry" my ass.
well I actually got it for the xbox series s mainly so my dad could play it on my old xbox x as well. But apart from a few glitches it runs fine and looks good. But ive seen it running on a ps4 and its nothing like it.
Lol yet life of black tiger is still available to purchase ? Have a word Sony ?!?!?
It's amazing how quickly CD Projekt have managed to destroy their good guys pro consumer reputation.
Crunch inbound.
Wonder if I could get a refund on Superman 64...
While I accept that this game seems about as stable as a jelly on a unicycle, I wonder if anyone has dared to try and run it with Boost mode turned on on the PS4 Pro? Does it improve it any or does it crash more?
@sanderson72
Boost mode only works with games that have not been developed with features for the PS4 pro. Games older than 2017
My only hope is they hold Bethesda and Ubisoft to the same accountability now.
What worries me most currently is how it sound like the game gets more unstable the further you progress. I swear when I started on PS5 it was roughly every 2 hours but last night it appears to be ever hour. I was even timing one just to see how many bugs occuured in that timeframe, it was around 7, 3 of which were game breaking so required reload and my favourite bug resetting the settings so I have go change them all back like HDR so the game doesn't look like complete washed out trash.
I like the game I've played 30+ hours but its not the best thing ever minus the bugs either. Ghost of Tsushima came out this year and I felt was better in every aspect of gameplay, looked better and you know wasn't riddled with bugs.
@Steel76 Exactly, thank you for stating it so succinctly.
The only reason publishers get away with this nonsense is because we gamers allow it to happen.
@Vacuumator I agree, but you know money, but they're suffering now for their greed.
@SlySnake0407 So you demand I don't call you butthurt then resort to name calling. Hmm. Unprecedented situation or not that's pretty immature of you, I don't think you can take the moral high ground here when you've escalated it. 😜
@NEStalgia "Console exclusive" is also misused to exploit console fanboys and marketing marks.
TLOU2 is a console exclusive. Halo 5 is a console exclusive. Horizon Zero Dawn is not. Death Stranding is not. Cyberpunk certainly is not.
PC + 1 console? Not console exclusive.
@vict0RGM Hmm, I dunno... ET on the Atari 2600 was pretty bad.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/E.T.the_Extra-Terrestrial(video_game)
😂
@Kidfried
That doesn't mean jack anymore
@Nakatomi_Uk Complete overhaul would be good. CDPR should make it a free upgrade for everyone who bought and kept the game as a pre order (I did) or at launch... basically if you played it on consoles within the first week, free upgrade to GOTY when it's done seems fair. Wonder if they'll rush that.
@Blacksmith1985
I thought was The Last Of Us Part 2 accourding the internet
whats funny over on Pure Xbox they say the game is staying on the store. Think this game has exposed sony's refund policy real bad
@captainaverage good on Sony Xbox needs to do the same! this is about CDPRs mess period & Sony has to clean it up for them now which is unfair.
@Vacuumator If thats the case Sony probably knows that better then us. I do think they have enough lawyers walking around.
This is insanity, I’m really enjoying this game on PS5 and I would be furious if I didn’t get buy it and now don’t have the option...
@Gaming365247 A loud minority loves too make you think that. 🤪
@TheArt I disagree. PC should’ve been prioritised as it’s the only platform that is powerful enough to fully realise the developer’s visions and they’re the only developer gutsy enough to focus on PC firstly in this day and age. Afterwards it could’ve been ported back to previous gen and released next year.
@Tharsman it'll be interesting to see if Microsoft does follow suit, seeing as how they have (1) marketing rights for Cyberpunk 2077 and (2) the weakest of the 8th generation consoles.
I would suggest people look up Rami Ismail on Twitter, he did a lengthy post on how certfication works and why broken games get released.
As for the story, I worry what it will do long term relationship between CDPR and Sony? Despite everything they are still a fantastic developer who have been dragged through the mud by poor management and executives. And with MS on the prowl wanting to gobble up every western RPG studio it wouldn't surprise me if they try to take advantage of this.
Just curious on how this performs for those of us lucky enough to be on ps5. I'm just a few hours in and aside from two irrelevant shop NPCs clipping each other, I have not not had any issues. Cop AI is terrible. But more curious about the side quests. Do they get good? Would love for a side quest review of some sort lol.
CDPR released the below statement that suggests they were involved in discussions with Sony that lead to the decision. Whether this is the result they asked for is another matter since they still talk about being able to buy physics versions!
https://twitter.com/cyberpunkgame/status/1339846154176126976?s=21
The irony is there have been far worse launches in history. The hype train on this game was just too much and it's buckled under it's own supernova.
Such a shame. In time, this game will likely still be a classic (after it's been actually fixed and made to the level of quality the company wanted it at).
@zekepliskin My first reply contained zero insults. I simply said you shouldn't call reasonably upset consumers whiners in this scenario. You then proceeded to call me butthurt and play the "It works well enough for me, so anybody upset is irrational" card, which is just, like, the worst of takes. I called you an a**hole in defense of myself and those you initially insulted, and I still think the word suits you. I might be a little immature/petty (e.g. the ending of the previous sentence), but at least I tried to initially be respectful to you, a courtesy you did not extend to me.
i noticed the last day or two, i've been seeing cyberpunk ads on TV without the microsoft marketing.. (distancing itself from the s**tshow?). the metacritic average for the console versions was in the low 50s the last i saw, probably not many usable soundbites from the reviews.
i wonder if sony's decision to remove the game was based on what's in the crash report telemetry. as people get further into the game it seems to crash even more often, maybe there's potentially a risk to system stability, even if it is small. also, maybe there's not much point in continuing to sell the game, if the percentage of refund requests is high.. it's not going to be that much more playable for the next couple of months at least., so if somebody buys it at xmas, chances are they'll be asking for a refund by January. it's also not a consistent message.. "this game is in a terrible state and we are offering refunds to all purchases if requested. please feel free to support us by continuing buying cyberpunk from PSN".
thankfully i didn't like the witcher 3, so had no expectations for it.. the aesthetic looks good (on high-end PC settings), but i had a feeling it would buckle under hype.
That yellow background is iconic now..
@SlySnake0407 ""It works well enough for me, so anybody upset is irrational""
Putting words in my mouth, that was not my attitude nor what I said, but that's clearly how you've decided to take it.
There's a difference between "whiners" and "upset customers" by the way. The latter are usually more reasonable, while the hardcore whiners are the one saying stuff like "Cyberpunk 2077 broke me omg CDPR should be burnt at the stake", and my comment was meant to be a bit 👅-in-cheek in case you didn't spot that. Not every joke needs to be signposted with an emoji. Regardless, I figured if you didn't get the joke because you're dour someone else could misconstrue it I'd edit it out anyway. Some gamers can be such humourless creatures, unable to take anything other than in the most literal and dry of senses.
Standing by your name-calling? "My first reply contained zero insults" No, it included name-calling, so you've contradicted yourself there. There's a big difference between saying someone is acting a certain way (butthurt in this case), and calling them an a-hole. You escalated it.
"at least I tried to initially be respectful to you" - You have a strange and inaccurate definition of respect if you think you're being respectful to someone in the same reply you resort to childish name-calling. Contradicted yourself again.
"I might be a little immature/petty" Well at least you're self-aware enough to see it. That's something, I guess...
STOP pre-ordering games people!!
@gusglez It's going to be hard to dissuade people from that considering pre-order bonuses exist.
Strange to me how so many people on forums and sites like this bought it when we knew this would happen. I know 90% of the game buying public don't read gaming sites or forums so wouldn't know, but we should know better.
In two years time, there will a PS5/XSX GOTY version all patched up that will be amazing. Why spoil a game like this by trying to play it on hardware that was obviously going to struggle?
@gusglez why? I pre-ordered at least 6 games this year (CP2077, FF7R, Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU2, Miles Morales and Demon's Souls) and for the PS4 Pro/PS5 only one of them is a bug riddled mess. In fact in my entire history of gaming this is the first I've never had it this bad, thats mainly due to having a point of not pre-ordering Bethesda/Ubisoft because of their history on it and somehow having the only PC in the world that was capable of running Arkham Knight.
The answer is not "don't preorder" the answer is "don't preorder from companies with bad histories" CDPR just made that list.
@zekepliskin I find pre-ordering for me is more about cashflow and paying for i at one time in the month s far better than say payday. Also Christmas requires some juggling so that can affect it to.
@Ralancian "I find pre-ordering for me is more about cashflow and paying for i at one time in the month s far better than say payday. Also Christmas requires some juggling so that can affect it to."
Interesting. I usually do it so I don't miss release day, and the pre-order bonuses like extra artwork and whatnot. And for the ability to go back and compare/contrast original Version 1.00 Disc games versus the patched up and mostly fixed later editions. The Witcher 3 was in a similar level of mess to what Cyberpunk 2077 is now, except because CDPR wasn't as well known and that game wasn't as anticipated and over-hyped it made fewer waves back then, but still took 6-12 months to get it playable without regular crashing/glitches.
@deathaxe "So in the UK I suspect the goods and services Act 1979 really does need bringing into the 21st Century to account for tech and software."
Agreed. So much of the legal system is behind the times, especially anything to do with digital media and technology. Seems to take years to get anything ratified and then by the time it is, the "new" laws are already a bit behind the times.
@Peach64 "I know 90% of the game buying public don't read gaming sites or forums so wouldn't know, but we should know better."
Oh I knew, but I decided to keep my pre-order and just upgrade to a PS4 Pro with an SSD I fitted myself - because of the PS5 launch they're about as cheap as they've ever been at the moment, lots of people shifting them preparing to fund next gen consoles. I just really wanted to play it, warts and all.
"Why spoil a game like this by trying to play it on hardware that was obviously going to struggle?"
Because in my case at least, it's still fun, despite some pretty horrendous problems (driving is bad from a gameplay and AI standpoint, gunplay is a bit messy for various reasons, game balance is all over the place...) when it works I can enjoy what they achieved, and when it fails I can usually see what they were trying to do. And honestly, some of the bugs are hilarious. But my experience doesn't justify it being a nightmare to play for most anyone else, especially people who didn't keep up with development at all.
I look forward to contrasting the wonky state it's currently in with the patched version next year (maybe the summer patch assuming there is one) and see if they tackled any of those problems.
What a disaster. This will be forever remembered much like other cases, e.g. red ring of death, lack of games on 3ds release, ps3 European delay to spring 07, ET and the Atari and console collapse of the 80s.
And the saddest thing is that this could have been avoided so easily.
I do not think Sony would have pulled and offered refunds with out CDPR requesting and guaranteeing refund coverage. Sony's past actions do not make me feel they alone would do this.
You know the quality is bad when the company that allows Gilson B. Pontes' games, takes yours down.
OMG! WORST RELEASE EVER11!! HELP ME, MY PANTIES ARE TOO TIGHT!!!
I'm still enjoying this game. I'm a little shocked it got pulled. I'd rather play this janky mess than struggle with yawning my way through another Ubisoft grind. Base ps4, too.
But feel free to cry on, it makes for good reading.
@Jayslow I'm absolutely loving it. Anybody who says that it's unplayable is majorly overreacting.
Heads should roll at CDPR over this disaster
Lesson learned from this - to us gamers, stop pre-ordering games entirely and wait for reviews, no matter which developer/game is, or that you trust.
@ApostateMage I will defend this game from people comparing it to fallout76 and things that were clearly rush jobs and money grabs. This game is soooooo up my alley.i love RPGs, immersive open worlds, and sci fi settings. Easily one of my favorite games this year.
However obviously I dont want to go full defender on the actions by CDPR. Not showing the game on consoles was a huge red flag for those of us who keep their ears to the ground of the industry. Just completely dishonest and is inexcusable. I feel they fell into the Bioware excessive pride trap where they just assumed the day one patch would fix everything and they will be fine.
Either way if you love the game and can excuse the bugs. That's awesome! I am with you. If you feel CDPR lied to you, I totally agree as well and feel bad for you. Glad you can now get the refund you deserve. But the celebration of the downfall of the hard work of hundreds of devs I cant get behind. These are artists and taking out the corporate greed on their art is not fair at all.
@zekepliskin I'm unable to go back and read your initial comment, because you removed it. From what I remember, you didn't do anything to differentiate your definitions of "whiners" and "upset customers", so it seemed like you were insinuating that since you were enjoying yourself anybody upset was overreacting. I'm sorry I misread the tone of your original comment.
"Don't call people who spent $60+ on a game, that they were deceived into thinking was a finished product, whiners. That's ridiculously condescending. CDPR royally botched the release of this game, and have only continued to make themselves look worse in the aftermath. And this is coming from someone who is actively enjoying their Cyberpunk 2077 experience on PS4 Pro and has no plans to request a refund. I'm extremely disappointed that a developer I held in such high esteem has absolutely been tanking their reputation this past week."
The above is my first reply to you, and there is zero name-calling. Calling your comment condescending is not a disrespectful way to call out someone's behavior, even if I now know that was not how you meant your comment to be perceived. You could have easily said, "Chill, broh. Issa joke," but you opted to call me butthurt instead, which pissed me off and caused me to call you an a-hole.
But I think both of our lives will improve if we just move on from this stupid interwebs argument.
[Toast] To never speaking again. <(I think that's how Cyberpunk displays that dialogue option)
@SlySnake0407 "But I think both of our lives will improve if we just move on from this stupid interwebs argument."
Interesting you classed it as an argument. I'm not emotionally invested in it enough to call it anything other than a debate, that's it.
"You could have easily said, "Chill, broh. Issa joke," but you opted to call me butthurt instead, which pissed me off and caused me to call you an a-hole."
Yeah but I don't talk like that, because that would be cultural appropriation of the bad kind and I'm not okay with that 😂
@get2sammyb So can we get a poll on digital purchasers who've asked for a refund? I'm sure we're all kinda curious, no.
@Menchi Don't tell Jimbo. He might stop moneyhatting Squeenix, and then where would we be?
@NEStalgia "Peter Molyneaux titles"
Nobody has mentioned that guys name in like 5 years but it always makes me laugh reading it. Not sure if that's b/c it's French or b/c I know what it represents. Maybe a little of both. 😂
@Grumps859 Um, what was that again? 😂https://twitter.com/xboxsupport/status/1339983446865801224?s=21
@Toypop so basically you won't hold the people responsible who actually lied outright about performance and features repeatedly.
I have to say I don't understand this frame of mind. It's the exact attitude that has allowed this sort of behavior to run rampant in the gaming industry. The sympathy train you're referring to has never existed. This is the reaction everyone every time this opens. People start the it's your own fault learn your lesson
This is no different then if I went to a doctor with great reviews for surgery and they cut my arm off instead of taking out my appendix. Except in that case no one would blame me and I could use for malpractice.
This is a product that was sold faulty. People pretend because it's a "complicated" game it's somehow different. It's not. If the new Avengers movie came out with bad special effects and half finished people would be rightfully upset especially if they had spent the whole effects budget on the trailer to mislead people and they would be right. This is no different.
I'll never understand victim blaming. I think it's sad.
Going to feel so good to have this terrible game behind me. CDPR is not getting another dollar from me.
@Jayslow
I know right, the gameplay and story itself minus the bugs is such high quality. Shame. Maybe it will be like AC Unity and be rediscovered and well liked a few years from now.
@mwatcher I stand corrected yikes that's gotta be rough lol
Wow! This is huge!!!
Curious about those that have requested a refund. Did you have to complete any forms or anything? I literally just had to press a button to request a refund; just seems a bit too easy, like something is missing. Haven't heard anything back yet either - don't expect the refund to be done that quickly but thought there might be an automated email to confirm my request has been received. I'm just not sure if I'm missing anything?
I bought Cyberpunk 2077 after launch when I knew it was flawed. The reasons I did are because, I've wanted it for ages because it looked awesome, I have a PS4 Pro and my friend said it was not that bad on his and ultimately I will have a PS5 once they're in stock anywhere. I was quite happy to wait for it to be fixed. However, today I applied for a refund under Sony's new offer. The reason is, I played the game. There were no glitches, it didn't look awful, it was sluggish but I've played worse. The problem was, I just plain hated it. I didn't like any of the characters, I don't like the environment, I didn't like the gameplay. Usually, I play a game for 10 minutes and I know who I am, who everyone else is and what I'm planning to do. With this, I played for a couple of hours and still had no idea what was going on and I simply didn't care either. I'm glad it's so badly flawed that Sony is issuing refunds because otherwise I would have wasted my money. Shame.
@Alfieburns Yeah I was initially getting a 404 page not found error trying to sign in to my account to request the refund but then all the sudden it just worked but no confirmation email or anything. Had me questioning if I did it correctly.
Fallout 76 and now Cyberpunk 2077 , you would never put them together oh well.
I truly hope they can pull this one back and regain the trust of the gamers.
Wow it takes something to outdo ALL 3 of EA/BIOWARE(ANDROMEDA /ANTHEM), BETHESDA (FALLOUT 76) AND HELLO GAMES(NO MAN SKY) in one generation.
It's like going from winning the league to being relegated the following season.
A real from from grace for CD Project Red.
It's like the look of disbelief from Cersei Lanester when Kingslanding was being burnt.

@MrCetirizine.... Mhhh interesting., I have not bought the game and push square is slow with the review.
So are you saying from your game play you've had with the game that it is not really bringing anything special? So are the graphics the only good thing about the game? Curious to know, maybe you can offer a mini review? How do you rate the game out of 10(ingoring the bugs and crashes and glitches)
@GREGORIAN Two things :-
1) "Well all your comments and posts have assholyness tendencies....." - in your opinion. That part needs to be in there, otherwise you're stating opinion as fact, which is wrong.
2) You clearly haven't read every comment I've made on here because if you had you'd already know your statement was wrong, anyway. I'm perfectly capable of having civilised discussions with people if they are polite and don't resort to name-calling. If they spout off trash or are rude etc, I won't hesitate to point that out. Fair's fair. In an internet age when fact-checking can be done more quickly and efficiently than ever before, there is less and less of an excuse for being ignorant and intolerant.
@Toypop "Gamers on the other hand are not victims. There were dozens of red flags being waved in our faces and gamers still threw money at them with the product completely unsighted!!!!"
Totally spot on, correct. I did my research and I knew the game would be buggy on launch; from all I knew it was obvious, even just basing it on all three Witcher games being borderline broken on release. I know from experience Witcher 3 on base PS4 upon launch was full of FPS drops, poor and slow inventory system (even now it's improved but still a bit laggy) and would crash fairly often. Not as much as CP2077 but still. It's better now but you can still have the odd bug, like Geralt falling through the floor of a couple of forests that are nearby some side quests.
But I really wanted to play it so I went in with both eyes open. The sad thing is for parents or whoever buying their kids this game not knowing about the problems and the kids being disappointed on Xmas morning, cos with the amount of copies sold that's a strong possibility.
@zekepliskin.... Fair..... But even after the misunderstandings in the communication @SlySnake0407 tried to be civil and polite whereas in your responses you are rude condescending and you display a Superiority Complex and a " I am cool know-it-all guy, and you are a sweep" attitude which is assholy and @SlySnake0407 is correct in thus calling you an *****.........
@GREGORIAN He tried to be "moderately" civil and polite, I'll give him that, and had the decency to admit he was being immature but still... insulting behaviour is just that, and I give as good as I get tbh.
"you are rude condescending and you display a Superiority Complex and a " I am cool know-it-all guy, and you are a sweep" attitude which is assholy"
Again, in your opinion. Unless you took a poll you don't know for sure, do you. I don't know everything, I know what I know, it's just amusing to me that people don't do the bare minimum of fact checking and state their opinions as fact. Gamers in particular are bad for it. If people are misinforming others and getting defensive about it when challenged, deep down they know they were wrong. Anyone that doesn't like it has the option of the ignore button anyway, which is better, because then they can be corrected when they say something obviously wrong in terms of it going against the facts and not turn it into a pointless flame war because they can't see it to respond to.
@GREGORIAN
I've only played CP2077 for about 2 hours and now it's been removed due to being refunded. But in the time I played it I would rate it 4/10 on a scale where the good Mass Effects get 10/10, the good Fallouts get 9/10 and Deus Ex gets 8/10.
The combat, driving and general movement control was good, even despite being sluggish. The game mechanics were good if you ignore glitches. For me it just wasn't the dystopian future world I wanted and that made me not care about any of the characters or missions. I wish when choosing your character you could also shape the politics and atmosphere of the world.
@MrCetirizine Out of interest is it the whole Deus Ex series or one in particular that got the 8/10? My favourite was always Human Revolution and that's about an 8/10 game for me, maybe close to a 9 in places.
@zekepliskin I was thinking of the series as a whole, Well, mostly Invisible War, Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, but I think all 3 of those get 8/10 individually as well.
@Toypop that's such an old fashioned way of thinking.
This is the new age. If you did you're one person, and there ways of giving people who don't pay money back just saying. All kinds of ways.
This is a company that did something wrong. They need to pay. You need to stop echoing the tired morality of a generation that spent years telling me that I don't know the meaning of money only know to tell me I think my money's worth too much.
Games are a product. If someone sold your toilet paper that made your ass bleed, no one would be saying well you should have known that toilet paper was bad.
It really boggles my mind.
@Toypop I've heard this line before.
The difference is no one has ever made those companies pay for it. CDPR is paying for it.
You can't play victim when you are the victim. And you can just say it happened before so let's just sit down and take it like good boys and girls.
Nothing changes unless you do something. You realize that right?
Also people didn't buy the game sight unseen and I didn't preoders. CDPR and the media both decided to feed people fake performance and lie through their teeth.
If we keep letting it happen guess what? It keeps happening. I'm glad people finally decided they had enough. I can't see how anyone but a developer or someone in the industry could be upset about this.
You're just being a defeatist and an apologist for a corporate practice that has gone for too long.
@MrCetirizine Nice to see Invisible War get some love! It routinely gets panned due to being too easy and having a flat/purple design. While that is true, it is a fun if pretty short game, and it sits between two of arguably the best games of all time in the original Deus Ex and the second sequel Human Revolution, which is my personal favourite despite having a kind of rough/rushed ending (everything from landing on the Panchea onwards, more or less)
@lordzand "that's such an old fashioned way of thinking. This is the new age."
He can think how he wants, more or less, who are you to tell him what's right or wrong in the way he thinks? He's being a lot more polite about stating opinions than you, someone undermining what little credibility they have with phrases like "new age" and believing you're so different from those that came before. Ah, the ignorance of youth. 😁
"This is a company that did something wrong. They need to pay."
Try not to sound too much like you're overreacting and baying for blood. 😂.
"You need to stop echoing the tired morality of a generation that spent years telling me that I don't know the meaning of money only know to tell me I think my money's worth too much."
So first you take exception to the way the guy thinks, then you attempt to insult an entire generation, then act like you think you know best. You're not making a very good account of your own generation are you, because you're coming across as rude, arrogant, entitled and presumptuous.
"If someone sold your toilet paper that made your ass bleed, no one would be saying well you should have known that toilet paper was bad."
What a crappy analogy (pun intended). Is that a subtle way of telling us all you have haemorrhoids? 😁😂
@Toypop "Be responsible for your own actions, then you won't need rescuing."
Sadly that's the problem with people his age (I'm gonna guess well under 20) - that arrogant, entitled, "I'm blameless" attitude because it's always someone else's fault.
@zekepliskin you guessed wrong considering I'm nearly 30. I'm guessing you're a shill paid or not given the way you comment on everything I say telling me how wrong I am and insulting me.
It's kind of sad.
Just to add you know how many clients would tell me, if I delivered a ***** project that didn't meet expectations, that it was their own fault, they expected too much, and they were going to give me the time to fix it? Absolutely none.
@Toypop Sony didn't. They did because it was a horrible game and it made them look bad. They also probably did it because CDPR had a marketing deal with Microsoft which it's still on Xbox.
You realize that our actions are more than likely what caused Sony to pull it in the first place? White knighting implies we were all ok with it and Sony just saved us without us asking. They didn't. People got denied and didn't give up.
I know that doesn't count because it doesn't fit your narrow agenda need to look down at us. This is being responsible for your actions. They have to be responsible for theirs too. I don't understand how people can say we all have to be responsible but a business can just do whatever.
@Toypop I didn't preorder.
No one knew about the rest of your stuff until after the embargo on reviews lifted well after the release of the actual game.
We were presented it as real footage.
I didn't expect a lot but you didn't even try. Why does it upset you so much that people got their money back and brought a lot of attention to what is a huge problem in the gaming world? I don't get it.
And for the record every game doesn't do that. I pre-ordered FFVII remake and Persona Royal and they worked fine. VII had a bit of texture pop in but no bugs or glitches. I'm willing to write Royal off as it's an update but Persona 5 also had no crashes and no problems.
Resident Evil 3? Pre-ordered and no crashes.
@lordzand "you guessed wrong considering I'm nearly 30. I'm guessing you're a shill paid or not given the way you comment on everything I say telling me how wrong I am and insulting me."
You're nearly 30? Wow. Your maturity levels suggests you're about half that. Technically then, when you're insulting @Toypop 's generation then, you're insulting your own?! That's what we call "troll logic" (as in it's so nonsensical it's not logical at all). Sounds like someone should be aware that they're coming off as a troll before calling someone else it.
I suppose what's sad is that when someone disagrees with YOU you just accuse them of being a troll or a paid shill or some such because maybe, just maybe, your psyche can't take any kind of criticism and trivialising someone like that allows you live with it easier.
Wait, comment on everything? Way to exaggerate. I think I've taken issue with 2 comments and in both cases you were being bolshy and rude. You feel insulted? Wow how thin your skin must be, and how sensitive your temperament. From my point of view I haven't insulted you, I've just pointed out you're behaving immaturely. You're the one who has been name calling.
It's kind of sad.
@zekepliskin lecture lecture lecture.
You didn't respond to anything else because you know there's no point.
You're wrong. He's wrong. Not my job to know how old you or he are.
Not all games are buggy messes. Nice that you ignore that for semantics.
And no the reason I call people paid shills are when they find it easier to sympathize with a billion dollar corporation than other human beings like themselves. Now you know.
Also you're going to lecture me about age when you're the one who brought up in the first place? That's some new level trolling there. I didn't make that part of the conversation you did.
@Toypop You see, your response is actually well balanced and sensible, as in "do your homework and you won't get burned" rather than "expect everyone to do it for you, and get butthurt when you get a product you're not happy with".
@Toypop the last sentence is what seals it for me.
It was rampant fanboism. Pure and simple. Sorry but I'm not taking their side against CDPR.
Do you lack that much self awareness?
@Toypop but you are white knighting. Maybe you don't intend to or mean to buy you are definitely white knighting the devs. You're not attacking them and no wants you to either but you're literally defending them non-stop and making excuses. You're also attacking other gamers which makes the least sense.
It's your choice what you want to support or not to support. I completely get that. I just don't understand why people have to defend them. They did something wrong. Even they apologized for it.
It just boggles my mind but it's your right and I support it. Doesn't mean I have to agree though.
@zekepliskin and you were wrong. He's not of my generation. Not that it matters but since you brought it up.
@Toypop I definitely agree with you about the game journalist. I would even say that they're not really acting as defenders of the consumers but attempting to calm things down and ride the middle as long as possible so they don't look culpable.
I've seen so many articles that misrepresent the way CDPR handled this in a positive way while completing ignoring any problems that I can't agree with part of what you said but I do agree they acted completely unethically.
I hope people don't forgot that either. They probably will though.
@lordzand
"You didn't respond to anything else because you know there's no point."
I can respond how I like, cheers. That's how free speech works. 😂 You gave me more than enough to work with with that one part of your comment that I didn't need to dig any deeper!
"You're wrong. He's wrong."
No, we have opinions. People can have whatever opinions they like. I don't agree with the nonsense opinions you come out with, but that doesn't mean I can say they're wrong.
"Not my job to know how old you or he are."
Yeah it's not your job to be a rude, bolshy pain in the backside either, but you damn near excel at that, so what's your point with the "not my job" line?
"And no the reason I call people paid shills are when they find it easier to sympathize with a billion dollar corporation than other human beings like themselves. Now you know."
Didn't ask, didn't care to be honest. I just offered a guess; not really bothered what the actual reason was. Other than calling you out for saying dumb stuff, I'm afraid you're just not that interesting to me!
"Also you're going to lecture me about age when you're the one who brought up in the first place? That's some new level trolling there. I didn't make that part of the conversation you did."
A lecture is a damn sight longer. It's amusing you're writing it off as trolling, though. More correcting than trolling, I'd say, and since I value my opinion more than yours, that's what it is to me. 😁
"and you were wrong. He's not of my generation. Not that it matters but since you brought it up."
You say "not that it matters" but um, obviously it mattered enough to you to have to make that correction, eh? Again I was guessing; the actual answer isn't really that important.
Whatever generation you're of, you're still acting like a petulant teenager anyway, all pouty and "gotta be right". It's amusing me and making me go 😏 so if you wanna continue giving me a good laugh, please do.
"Do you lack that much self awareness?"
Stealing my observation about you to use erroneously against someone else? Hmmm... 🤔😁
[EDITED TO REMOVE MISATTRIBUTED QUOTES]
@zekepliskin I'm not sure what happened to you while you were writing that but if you're going to respond to comments from both of us shouldn't you @Toypop
Or are you just proving you're trolling now? I guess it just shows what you really thought of his comments that when you attributed them to me you respond that way.
Past that point you're not worth responding to.
@lordzand Once again, I can respond how I like whenever I like, funnily enough no one here needs to ask for your permission for that, bud. You're just not that important in the scheme of things.
"Past that point you're not worth responding to."
I think you just can't be bothered, because you're lazy and/or you know I have a point on basically all of it.
Everything I've quoted is from you anyway, I've got no problem with the other guy because he's not being an immature nuisance like you.
Either way, if it gets you to pipe down and stop being abusive for a while, I'll call that a win. 😂👏
@Toypop Not sure who this is directed at, him or me, however I noticed two quotes of yours I mentioned was attributed to him accidentally so I've removed it. I hate misattributing quotes so I apologise.
@zekepliskin one and then two. Don't forget you really ripped them apart too. Aww he saw it it's ok you don't need to change it now with some lame excuse. You also doubled down and told me I said them. This is the moral compass we should be following
And if you hate misattributed quotes maybe should you apologize to the person you forced them on?
Also I don't know who @Toypop is responding to either but if anyone decides to read this comment thread I hope they enjoy the antics of the Three Stooges.
@lordzand Oh okay, I was hoping you'd pipe down and stop being abusive but apparently it's really easy to draw you back in with no apparent effort at all 😁
Corrected to TWO, by the way... before you posted.
I made a genuine mistake which I corrected, but talking about strawmen, feel free to treat them as me indulging in mispresentation rather than refuting some of the nonsense you come out with and mixing a few quotes in by accident. I would have gone a little easier if I'd realised he said them not you, because he's at least been civil when stating his point even when I disagree with bits of them.
Like I said, this is moderately amusing for me so it can carry on until everyone gets bored and stop replying... all good...
@zekepliskin do you know what abusive even means?
Someone disagreeing with you is abusive now? Pointing out your mistakes is abusive?
You straight up made fun of him. You didn't care enough to realize how different the writing styles were or that they were in two different areas despite copying them which no one else does.
It's just sloppy and sad at this point.
How will you ever live with me now? Wait you don't....so how am I abusive? It sounds like you need a safe space my friend.
@lordzand "It sounds like you need a safe space my friend."
I'm not your friend; to me you're more akin to an amusing sideshow attraction, something you stare at and chuckle at and then when you walk past it, promptly forget about. I laugh at you, not with you; hardly a friend. 😏
What I need and don't need are none of your concern though, since you mention it; you don't know me well enough to have the first clue, but of course you're so presumptuous that you think you do.
"Someone disagreeing with you is abusive now? Pointing out your mistakes is abusive?"
I was talking about the way you were talking to him (Toypop) actually, but despite you writing "You didn't care enough to realize how different the writing styles were or that they were in two different areas" as if your judgement is peerless you've ironically not been able to use your mighty intelligence to work that one out.
No I'd say with me you've been more of a pest, than abusive. With him, abusive.
"do you know what abusive even means?"
No idea. Why don't you explain it to me genius, you obviously know better than I do. Better than anyone does, in fact. Everyone should bow to your mighty knowledge. Please educate me, I beg of you! 🙏
So tell me, smart guy... what does it mean? I mean, I'm so clearly in need of your immense wisdom to help steer my life onto the right path, random person on the internet 😁😂
@zekepliskin yes insult me harder. It will make you feel less insignificant and more secure in your lack of just about everything. Prostituting your views for entertainment.
At least @Toypop believes what's he saying.
@Toypop I happen to agree with you on this, the way it's worded this time around sums it up nicely.
"Yet in light of everything I just said, people STILL handed over money IN ADVANCE for an unseen game, despite the fact that digital games DO NOT SELL OUT."
In some cases people knew, and while not happy about it were okay with it and still went with it. I read all the warning signs, saw the potential for another Witcher 3 style bugfest at launch, but wanted to play the game enough that I didn't cancel my pre-order; in fact only about the third pre-order I've ever made, after Arkham Knight (disappointing) and Mankind Divided (also disappointing but not as much), so you could argue I should have learnt my lesson by now, but bugs and crashes aside I've found a fair amount to enjoy in CP 2077. I'm kinda glad I didn't wait, but also know from buying it and not refunding it I could be considered part of the problem.
@lordzand "yes insult me harder. It will make you feel less insignificant and more secure in your lack of just about everything. Prostituting your views for entertainment."
Genuine big LOL for this, I mean when I read it I was practically holding my sides. 😂
Dude, if that's your only comeback, it's pretty lame. You don't have a clue where my convictions lie, do you? I like the fact you're defending the guy that an hour or two ago you were cussing out, as well. Way to backtrack and undermine yourself. Just keep pivoting and changing tack to hide the fact you can't have a sensible debate about anything for five minutes.
Anyway...
Are you gonna tell me what the word "abusive" means then or not? I mean I can't wait. Bated breath and anticipation... please don't keep me in suspense, I'm not sure I can take it. I need that wisdom of yours. 😂
@zekepliskin I never was rude to him. We disagreed but I didn't make fun of him like you did.
I also didn't conveniently suck up when I let my true feelings slip out. Yes you agree with him despite deleting where you said what he said was idiotic because it was "misattributed".
I'm glad you're finding me funny because I'm not even trying and it means you're use to low quality. I don't even find this entertaining honestly. It's not even quality trolling anymore. You must be with the CDPR trolling department. That would explain a lot.
@AdamNovice Sadly, I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to throw their bottomless pits of cash around to do something like that - its the only way they can get decent exclusive games on their platform these days...
@lordzand "I'm glad you're finding me funny because I'm not even trying"
Yeah I know, that's the point! You're not trying to be funny and it's got nothing to do with deliberate comedy; as I've already mentioned and you probably didn't read, it's laughing at you not with you, because of your constant pivoting/talking nonsense.
"and it means you're use to low quality."
There he goes with the inaccurate assumptions again, ladies and gentlemen! You don't have a clue what I'm used to... but sure, you presume away if it makes you feel superior. It's all chuckle worthy to me 😁
"I don't even find this entertaining honestly. "
If that's true, the piercing questions are: why do you keep responding then? If you don't find it entertaining or funny, why are you continuing to reply? What do you gain?
"It's not even quality trolling anymore"
So up until this point it WAS quality trolling, is that what you're saying? Cool. Thanks for the compliment. I still dispute that it IS trolling, but a compliment is a compliment. Even a backhanded accidental one from someone you don't really care about!
"You must be with the CDPR trolling department."
...you genuinely think that CDPR has people like that on the payroll, or was that your attempt at humour? If the former, then they don't need a separate department because the statements they've been putting out ARE trolling to some people, from the way they react. If it's the latter, then it's one of the few things you've said that ISN'T funny, funnily enough.
"I never was rude to him. We disagreed but I didn't make fun of him like you did."
Um... actually you were rude to him :-
"that's such an old fashioned way of thinking... You need to stop echoing the tired morality of a generation that spent years telling me that I don't know the meaning of money only know to tell me I think my money's worth too much."
You "made fun" of his way of thinking and morality, basically, and presumed you had the right to tell him how he should think and feel and act because you're so damn presumptuous. You made it personal while he was trying to keep it on topic, between you trotting out your tired "big corporations are evil, don't trust them" clichés. But anyway he's clearly capable of holding his own so I don't need to fight his battles for him.
"I also didn't conveniently suck up when I let my true feelings slip out. Yes you agree with him despite deleting where you said what he said was idiotic because it was "misattributed".
I apologised for making a mistake, which is more than you're capable of, clearly. For the record I still disagree with the parts I quoted of his and removed. I just figured because he's not an unbearable pivoting blowhard like you he didn't deserve the tone in which it was delivered, which was more contemptuous.
But that's fine, continue to attempt to metaphorically beat me over the head with that if it makes you feel better. 😏😂
P.S. Still waiting for you to drop that genius definition of the word "abusive" on me...
Bizarre decision by Playstation and probably more to do with their censorship dictatorship to keep Disney happy. They certainly have buggier games that haven't had this treatment, so there's some dishonesty around the reasons. The move from Japan to the US has not been a great experience for developers or users.
