It's that time of year once again: Game of the Year. Every year, we present to you our top picks for PlayStation's best and brightest, and every year, we ask you to have your say too. A little later than usual, we're beginning our Game of the Year coverage on Push Square, and it starts with all of you.
We ask one simple question: what are your favourite PlayStation games (PS5 or PS4) of 2020? In the below poll, you can vote for your top five games from our shortlist. This year, the community's results will be factored into our overall Game of the Year, so it's now more important than ever that you get your votes in. Help define Push Square's own top 10 list!
We're kicking everything into high gear as we prep all the GOTY content you've come to expect. To that end, the deadline for voting is pretty tight. We're giving you until Wednesday 16th December at 12pm GMT to cast your votes. On that day, voting will close, and we'll factor them into our overall Game of the Year results. Any votes cast after this time won't be counted. Don't worry, we'll present the community vote separately too, as usual.
Get those votes going, everyone — may the best game win!
The community poll is now closed. Thanks everyone for voting.

My PlayStation GOTY has to be Spider-Man Miles Morales. Such a great game and showcase for the PS5.
Astros playroom for the win, might have broke my ps5 but its the most a game has made me smile in years
The Last Of Us 2 in no.1 for me but there's been more than 5 great ones
Astro playroom, demon's souls, ff7 remake, persona 5 royal, and of course, ghost of tsushima, and doom eternal too
And the other games are good too, like 13 aegis, ac valhalla, bugsnax, cod cold war, dq11 s, fenyx rising, spider-man mm, sackboy, spelunky 2, street of rage 4, and the pathless. I think this is a good year for both playstation consoles
Comes to something when I can't vote for 5 releases due to OTT pricing and also a distinct lack of PS4 reviews for the latest titles from PushSquare!
I mean, where are the PS4 version reviews of Sackboy or Immortals Fenyx Rising, people? Are they any good?
TLOU2
Demon's souls
Nioh 2
"You must select at least 5 options" but I only played three of the games in the list and only two of them are worthy an award! 😂
No resident evil 3 remake??
Stop the steal!!
Haven't played that many games this year.
The Last of Us: Part II (9.5/10)
Ghost of Tsushima (8.5/10) - Bumped up the score a bit because Legends was quite fun albeit a little bit repetitive.
Final Fantasy VII Remake (7.5/10)
@Wormold
Games where you had more fun on side missions
Games you had most fun just kicking about.
Guess you guys really didn't like Minecraft Dungeons.
Where is Resident Evil 3??
#1 Fortnite Marvel Battle Pass
#2 Ghost of Tsushima
Damn, I forgot Kentucky Route Zero was a 2020 release on PS4. Fantastic game.
@Boxcar182 RE3 would definitely be in my top 5.
@sanderson72 We will be reviewing titles on PS5 henceforth.
My top 5 for 2020
5. Final Fantasy 7 Remake,
4. Assassins Creed Valhalla
3. Wasteland 3 (got me into theses type of games now i'm looking for more like this)
2. Ghost Of Tsushima
1. The Last Of Us Part 2
Honorable mentions to Dirt 5 and Dragon Quest XI S.
We all know Ghost Of Tsushima is gonna win here why bother
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Astro's Playroom
FF VII Remake
Persona 5 Royal
The Last of Us 2
Between Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2 for me, hard to say which one is my GOTY so really its up to a coin flip. Not on this list but for the Xenoblade remaster for Switch is also in my top 5, never played the game before and i ended up loving it on the Switch.
For me its
1. Astro's Playroom (made me smile all of the time)
2. The Last of Us 2
3. Cyberpunk 2077 (this may end up 1st but I'm only a few hours in)
4. Streets of Rage 4
5. Resident Evil 3 (I had to vote Ghost of Tsushima as this isn't on the list for some reason)
GOT was close to making my real top 5 and with some more interesting side quests, better balancing and AI to make stealth play rewarding it would have been very close to the top.
FFVII was a little disappointing and I didn't enjoy Doom Eternal despite Doom 2016 literally being my favourite fps this generation and Miles Morales is fun but is basically a 3 hour dlc
Demon's Souls and GoT are way above everything else.
Good too see ghost leading the pack at this point. Easily my favourite of 2020
Really can't believe people are voting for cyberpunk on the ps4.
No 1 for me is either last of us or ghost either one pretty hard to choose between them, both were great. Also put a vote for astro which was great and streets of rage 4. Also put pistol whip in just for a vr vote, enjoyed it.
@sanderson72 I recently played Sackboy on a base PS4 and while it uses a lower resolution and lacks some small details in the environments and the haptic feedback, it's otherwise the same game as on PS5. Smooth as butter. Can recommend.
For me it's
1. The Last of Us Part 2
2. Demon's Souls
3. Ghost of Tsushima
4. Final Fantasy 7 Remake
5. Spider-Man Miles Morales
The poll won't let me use it. I have to select 5, when I only want to select 2.
@LiamCroft What, ONLY on PS5?
I thought this was supposed to be a PlayStation site catering or all current consoles? How are we supposed to know if the PS4 versions are any good or not?
@Voltan Thanks, nice to know that the PS4 version is worth it!
I’ll laugh IRL if Astro’s playroom wins. I mean, it isn’t bad but not GOTY.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1&2 for me. Both a fantastic remake and just incredibly deep and fun time. The challenge system is the best thing that’s ever happened to the series and ensures that I’ll be playing this for years to come.
Lol can’t vote as you have to pick 5. I’ve only played three in the list...!
@Boxcar182 @TwomanybuttonS Yeah I was surprised it's not on the list. I know it was widely criticised for it's length but I loved it and it would be in my top 5.
What a year Sony have had. Four of my top five were exclusives this year, and I haven't even played FF7 Remake yet. Incredible.
Who the heck is voting for Cyberpunk to give it 5% already? So many more actually finished games that were better on the list to vote for.
@get2sammyb @ShogunRok I think the mandatory"select 5" should be dropped. Everyone doesn't play this many games, depriving me of casting my vote.
I've only played 4 games and of those Fall Guys isn't game of the year and I didn't get to the new part of Persona 5 Royale (it's so long and I've already played P5).
I guess I'd have to go for Ghosts of Tsushima or Yakuza: Like a Dragon, but while both are strong, neither feels like game of the year material to me.
"Sorry, you must select at least 5 options."
But I didn't play 5 PS games this year (or at least not 5 games, that were released this year)
I didn't vote any games from list above.

I voted this instead.
My PS4 GOTY 2020 !!! 😆😆😆
(I'm positive serious with my PS4 choice. That was the game i was waiting for)
Final Fantasy 7 Remake, for sure. I'm also enjoying Persona 5 Royal at the moment.
Unfortunately, I skipped the other exclusives released on the system this year.
1. GoT
2. Miles Morales
3. Streets of Rage 4
4. TLOU2
5. Astrobot
I almost put Cyberpunk at 5 but being only 10/12 hours in I can't say for sure (loving it so far).
Only PS4 Pro for me anxiously awaiting Demon's Souls when I do get a PS5.
1-Ghost of Tsushima
2-Cyberpunk 2077
3-Yakuza: Like a Dragon
4-Final Fantasy 7 Remake
5-Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Ghost of Tsushima is the true GOTY
Had trouble choosing 5 tbh but only one deserves it on that list imo, Ghost of Tsushima.
This year had 2 big disappointments, TLOU2 and FF7 remake and I dislike both for similar reasons, the story.
1. Nioh 2
2. Nioh 2
3. Nioh 2
4. Nioh 2
5. Nioh 2
1. Re3 (I don't know where it's)
2. TLoU2
3.FF7
4 Nioh
5.demons souls
I haven't played five games from 2020 though but PushSquare insists I select five anyway.
😉
So played Part II and Fall Guys, then chose my three most anticipated titles those being Final Fantasy VII, Ghost of Tsushima and Miles Morales.
Cyberpunk and Valhalla weren't considered as I've heard they're a bit buggy on PS4, not sure if I have that right.
🤔
Actually I didn't select Miles but went for Persona 5 Royal instead having played and thoroughly enjoyed the original in Mar/Apr of this year.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand for showcase ASTRO BOT it's the best choice...
Haven't played Demon Souls and Miles but
1. DOOM
2. FF7
3. NIOH 2
4. TLOU 2
5. GHOST
Ghost, FF7R, and Doom Eternal. I’ll give a shout-out to 13 Sentinels too. Those games were the only ones worth playing this year.
Should make one for goty 2013-2020
In no particular order: Demon Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, Doom Eternal, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Yakuza: Like A Dragon. The Last of Us Part 2 is perhaps the most accessible game and featured some of the best presentation in PlayStation history, but the story was lackluster compared to the original, the game play is stale and redundant, and the final battle with Ellie and Abbie is the same recycled finished from every Uncharted game. Assassin's Creed Valhalla returns with features I hate about the older games: clunky controls especially with climbing and chasing down tattoos. Worse, the open world is boring, but the world events have been entertaining. I haven't played Persona 5 Royal and would probably include it in my top 5. EDIT: I found FF7 Remake filled the with unnecessary fluff, but enjoyed the story and game play. This game is definitely overrated, which is coming from someone who spent 700+ hours on the original.
@NoFaceBigFoot Good take, but edit the comment while you have a chance before they start calling you bigots and other political terms. :/
1. Last of Us pt 2
2. Final Fantasy 7 Remake
3. Ghost of Tsushima
4. Persona 5 Royal
5. Astrobot
Tony Hawks just misses out, and Miles Morales would have taken 5th spot, if not for the constant hard crashes on my PS5.
Id also have considered Resident Evil 3.
Yakuza 7 will have to wait until next gen version drops, although currently playing through the excellent Yakuza 6
Last of Us 2
FF 7
Valhalla (Better than GoT honestly)
Ghost of Tsushima
I think I've played more Genshin Impact than any of the ones listed though, but it isn't on the list.
If it was based on the best games I've played this year, including second/third playthrough.
1- Red Dead Redemption 2
2 -The Last of Us Part II
3 - Persona 5
4 - GTA V
5 - Death Stranding
Based on best 'new' games.
1 - The Last of Us Part II
2 - Persona 5
3 - Death Stranding
4 - Days Gone
5 - Shadow of the Tomb Raider
As far as gaming goes I've had a blast with 2020, shame almost everything else was a load of *****!
@NoFaceBigFoot SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Tony Hawk
2. Streets of Rage 4
3. Cyberpunk 2077
4. Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
5. Ghost of Tsushima
Where’s F1 2020? Probably the best F1 racing game on a console in years, if not ever.
I didn't play many games that came out in 2020, but I loved Genshin Impact and greatly enjoyed the beta of Marvel's Avengers.
Hey guys, here's an idea. Why not use this poll to talk positively about the games you enjoyed this year. Without the need to drop a massive turd on you know what. It would be nice to have one comment thread not ruined by yet another argument about You Know What.
😉
Uhhh, well neither of my top 2 are on the list. Visage and suicide of rachel foster. I actually cant even pick 5, why is the list so limited?
The poll is rigged lol
I voted for:
Ghost of Tsushima
Nioh 2
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (underrated)
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Persona 5: The Royal
In no particular order. Y'all are doing Genshin dirty on this site for sure. That game is great.
@whizzkidd that's fair, didn't play Astro Bot because I don't have a PS5 yet.
In no particular order:
Astro's Playroom
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
DOOM Eternal
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Ghost of Tsushima
Honorable mentions:
Persona 5 Royal
Yakuza 7
Tony Hawk Remake
Sackboy
Spidey Miles Morales
1. The Last of us 2 - best game ever
2. Cyberpunk 2077 - best new Fallout (fallout/deus ex/gta)
3. Ghost of Tsushima - best Assasin Creed ever
4. Persona 5 Royal - best anime
5. Nioh 2 - best non-Fromsoft soulslike
@GamingVeteran I liked GoT a lot but I'm finding that surprisingly the characters in Valhalla have much more personality. Both are pretty great.
I hope TLOU2 doesn't win, it's hugely overhyped, and filled with controversy and is just a horrible drama pit filled with woke fools.
Ghost Of Tsuhima or FFVIIR should get the nod.
In no particular order:
Astro’s Playroom
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Ghost of Tsushima
Iron Man VR
Pistol Whip
@Gmork___ hey man, I totally forgot about visage, was it better than the suicide of Rachel foster? Did enjoy that the sound FX were brilliant. Might pick it up over Xmas break.
Would like to throw a vote for Demon's but like many, can't play it.
@andreoni79 Sucks for u, cause this year was amazing for PlayStation gaming!
Ghost of Tsushima is not only game of the year but should be considered game of this generation!!!! Miles Morales, Demon Souls, Sackboy, Astrobot , Tony Hawk and more makes this year the most memorable year I can think of!
1. Demon's Souls
2. Last of Us: Part II
3. Final Fantasy 7 Remake
4. Ghost of Tsushima
5. Resident Evil 3
What an amazing year for PlayStation!! We are spoilt!
I played Ghost of Tsushima and Last of Us Part 2.
Randomly selected Sackboy, Pathless, and Tony Hawk, having played nothing else on that list.
The ghost 👻 of tshushima.streets of rage 4.final fantasy 7 remake.demon souls remake.nioh 2.honorable last of us 2.cyberpunk.etc.word up son
@Grindagger The controversy comes in huge part from people like you that think it's 'woke'.
🤦
Hi there fellow gamers.
My top 5 PS games this year are:
1- Ghost of Tsushima PS4. My personal GOTY;
2- The last of Us part 2 PS4. Most impactful Naughtydog story;
3- Astro´s playroom PS5. A love letter to any Playstation fan;
4- Ni-Oh 2 PS4. Fantastic harcore action game;
5- Demon´s Souls PS5. A remake that elevates the original Souls game;
Honorable mentions:
Surprise of the year for me.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
For me it's
1. Demon's Souls
2. TLOU2
3. Nioh 2
4. Fall Guys
5. FF7 Remake
And yes, the best PS exclusive this year is a remake
Good stuff this year, was hard to pick, but went for:
Ghost of Tsushima
Astro's Playroom
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Hotshot Racing
Seems I am the only one but SPIRITFARER was my GOTY. An emotionally gripping, heartfelt little game of beauty. Cried so much during this adventure.
Spiritfarer
Last of Us Part 2
FF7 Remake
AC Valhalla
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
@HotGoomba___Rebrand I wanted to pick that, but I can 't quite make a glorified DLC "best game of the year" among so many others including TCS4 and Yakuza: LaD. It's good...but it would have been better as a full game.
TLoU2 is loosing. All the tears will drown the community.
Once again Tlou2 and Ghost are the top two PlayStation games, can't go wrong with Sony's first party studios. Also lol at Avengers not even being an option 😋
1-Ghost of Tsushima
2-Final Fantasy 7 Remake
3-Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
4-Sackboy: A Big Adventure
5-Streets of Rage 4
And honorable mention to
Cuphead
Fight'N Rage for anyone that likes SoR4
Where's Haven? It's Haven.
I'm not a big RPG guy, but my 2 favorite games this year were RPG-ish: FF7 and Ghost of Tsushima
@Col_McCafferty It is woke though. Sorry, but the game was designed with that ideal at heart. Anyone who can't or won't observe that is in deep denial.
The sad part is those people who don't think it's that, which has led to a large reason a lot of people labeling this game as trash. Political agendas attached to games in a manner that drives certain ideals, particularly so when they've been clearly managed to define it through their project should get no respect from any person who has a scintilla of self respect for themselves.
Ultimately, no amount of amazing graphics, gameplay and beautifully choreographed cutscenes can save this game from the quagmire of political correctness and forced woke activism. I stand defiantly amongst the raging storm of people who praise this game. Any attempt from the sheeps herd to downplay the calls from people who are upset, doesn't make them right no matter how badly they want to be, because an opinion is an opinion, not a fact, and it's a fact that there is a significant group of people who agree with me on this, and, no, it's not a coincidence.
Couldn't vote as only played two games on this list.
@Grindagger 🤦🤦🤦
@Col_McCafferty Can't say I expected anything more from people who are on the other side of the division.
You might like having it crammed down your throat, all power to you, it's your life. Some of us like to have a little more critical thinking.
@LiamCroft
RE3 remake is absent from the list
Just talk about what YOUR favourite games of this year are, is that so hard?
If you haven't played any then obviously this thread isn't for you.
I don't see a woke agenda, I see a game where the two leads are both female one of which is gay and the other has muscles.
It's not as they retire to a LGBT community where they live in harmony, away from all the angry straight people. If you think the game is pushing an agenda then the problem lies with you, me I found it refreshing.
There's enough games where you play as a straight white male as there is, why not something a bit different?
I. Just. Don't. Get. It.
And there is no bloody division, it's only a game FFS.
@Col_McCafferty People have opinions, deal with it.
In regards to your comments, all I can say is you clearly haven't read very much into it, other than some of the idiotical mouthbreathing comments about homophobia or straight hatred driven narratives, which only concludes to me you have no idea what the issues people have when it comes to the "woke" agenda that some people have put forward with poignant, and well represented issues with how the game is portrayed, and also the nuanced attempts to convey the agenda through reinforced narratives throughout the game.
I'm not going to waste my time further here, it's clear you're not one for even remotely engaging in discourse, because you're defensive to the hilt on your position, besides you said it yourself that you dont get it. Have a good day.
@Col_McCafferty This is an absurd comment, of course there is a division on whether the game is good or not. Are you serious?
This is so ridiculous, I wonder if you read it back to yourself before posting it. Just so I understand it correctly, are you seriously suggesting that there can't be a division in opinion.....because it's a video game?
@Grindagger not talking about the quality of the game but this whole woke agenda.
Anyway on ignore you go, you had the chance to talk positively about that which you do like but failed miserably.
@nessisonett really hope they look at this success story and remaster some of the other Pro skater games. Some good feels when i booted it up and the soundtrack is as awsome as it always was back in the day.
@Grindagger Its impressive that you somehow managed to position yourself as holding a brave opinion against ‘sheep’ by saying... the exact same tired arguments against TLOU2 as your average Redditor.
Shout out to 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim. Vanillaware at their finest.
Kind of strange that you've being forced to pick five from that list.
1. GOT
2. Yakuza
3. Persona 5 royal
4. Spider man miles
5. Dragon quest
@Grindagger
By "shoved down throats", do you mean as in "the majority of all the other games that now push a similar progressive/liberal/woke agenda and it's kind of suffocating" ?
Absolutely stacked year.
I chose Astro, Demon’s Souls, FFVII Remake, Miles Morales, and The Last of Us Part II.
A few caveats. Doom was incredible, haven’t played Ghosts of Tsushima yet, and it’s too early to tell with Cyberpunk.
Also loved the remake of Resident Evil 3. It’s short like the original and like the original, I’ll probably play through it multiple times which makes the $20 price tag more than worth it.
Have played or am interested in many on this overall list and I think 2020 was fantastic overall.
@Daleaf was that you i was talking about suicide of rachel foster with back when it released? If so, whatd ya think? I loved it for the most part.
Anyway, yeah visage is mostly really great imo. Definitely had me on edge most of the time. It can get pretty out there though which for me can take me out of it at times. Cant seem to be scared when its just a bit too abstract. Walking through a dark quiet house is wheres its at for me😁
I still haven't gotten too far ito mind you. But so far its one of the best horror games ive played
Spider-Man & Souls was one heck of a way to launch PS5! I'm still on a high from it. TLOU2 is still the most interesting, intriguing, disturbing, frustrating, and complex game I've played all year, maybe ever. It's just made me question a lot of stuff about myself, the story, and I just never had so much discourse over a game before. It's not the most fun I've had with gaming, but it's an unforgettable game.
Honestly, lots of great games on the PS4/5 this year, but my true game of the year was Hades on Switch.
Be honest. How many people voted for games they haven't yet played?
@Gmork___ yea It was me. Yea I really enjoyed it, the end bit in the garage was pretty dark, story was ok for most of it, think the sound was spot on for it, had to take headset off sometimes as I actually thought some of the banging was in the house and was alone at the time haha, really enjoyed it did manage the plat.
Yea know what you mean when it gets a bit abstract, like you I prefer walking through a small dark house with sounds coming from all directions, but will definitely be picking it up over Xmas, will play it with the pulse headset for that immersion.
Only played 3 games in that list and would only vote for two of those. Remove the 5 game limit.
Guys, we're including your votes in our overall staff poll — we thought it'd be cool to give readers actual input into our result — thus we retained the same rules and shortlist as what all staff are following.
That's why you've got to pick five games. If you absolutely can't pick five from this list, then it's fine not to vote, and you're welcome to discuss your favourites in the comments.
1) Dreams
2) Fallguys
3) Streets of Rage 4
4) My Universe Cooking Star Restaurant
5) FF7 HD Remake (haven't played it yet but by the chat in comments I can't wait to get it)
Seriously though, Dreams deserves better.
My list will undoubtedly change once I’m able to secure a PS5 but as it stands:
1.) Ghost Of Tsushima
2.) Nioh 2
3.) The Last Of Us Part II
4.) Sackboy
5.) Cyberpunk 2077
Wish I could vote Tony Hawk 5 times
Doom eternal and Assassin. The rest is just random pick what I maybe someday play...
Between FF VII and Tony Hawk from the games I have played, both remasters weirdly.
Last of Us Part II was super disappointing which sucks cos I would have guessed it was my GotY and the beginning of 2020.
The rest of my actual Top 5 of the year are Switch games.
1) Animal Crossing
2)Paper Mario
3) FF VIIR
4)Tony Hawk
5)Xenoblade Chronicles DE
Probably in the minority, but I wish you were doing this like the NL poll, where they just post the top (insert number here) user rated games in their database that were released this year, with a reminder article beforehand telling readers to be sure to rate the games they've played this year if they haven't yet done so.
Or at the very least you could have included Trials of Mana in your hand picked selection 😀.
I don't understand how is cyberpunk is on the list ??? While some other games isn't on the list.
Troll site with many clickbaited titles.
Also remember they gave Re2R "8" and it was their game of the year of 2019.
@Col_McCafferty Yes ignore the people who don't fit inside your echo chamber.
I think you might find yourself quite comfortable amongst your own over at Kotaku. They don't like any opinions that don't fit their own narratives.
@nessisonett Spare me the sanctimonious rhetoric. This is definitely an unpopular opinion, and one i strongly believe in. Furthermore its definitely in the vocal minority, if you're blithely unaware of that, that's your problem. Its easier to join the righteous, white knighting brigade than to speak some straight honesty.
The Last of Us II for PS4
Spider-Man Miles Morales/Spider-Man Remaster PS5
The question should have asked for one choice for each system. You can not pick 5 choices for game of the year on 2 systems. Do you want Game of the Year choices or Top 5 games of 2020?
P5R and GoT. If I had a PS5 and Spiderman, I'd be all over that.
Can't vote for TLOU2, simply didn't enjoy.
@Grindagger You're like one of those Youtubers that make 150,000 videos on how annoying sjw's are without noticing that they have become what they hate most. Well I wish you look winning against those dangerous and powerful pink/blue short hair college students 👍
Well, I tried to vote for the only two on the list that I played, Ghost of Tsushima and FFVII Remake, but it won't let me, lol. I'm not going to vote for games I haven't even had hands on with. Maybe adjust the poll to allow fewer options?
Last of us part 2 and it’s not even close imo. Such a beautiful game
I only played ff7 and nioh 2. Both of which are easily 9/10s for me. Chose DQ cause I already know I'm gonna love it
The last to are 13 sentinels and persona 5 cause why not
@PSfan4Life22 yeah i voted for cyberpunk simply because that's the only way i could make 5 games. I also had to pick Iron Man VR even though I've only played the demo.
Seems silly to force a selection of 5. It's only going to skew the results.
I hope GoT doesn't win because its focus is characters from some other country, who knows where. Hello, Sucker Punch, are you an American video game company or what?! #notmycole #mickeyrooneydidnothingwrong
Am I doing it right?
TLOU2, AC Valhalla, Sackboy, Astro playroom and last one to Fall guys
I voted for 5 but need to rework my choices.
So here's my top 5:
1- Ghost of Tsushima
2- The Last of Us Part 2
3- Astro's Playroom
4- Final Fantasy 7 Remake
5- *Miles Morales
Honorable mentions:
6- Immortals Fenyx Rising
7- Demon's Souls
It was an awesome year!
Really? It's just Ghost and TLOU2 that mostly everyone picked? Well this is gonna be boring...
1. Like a Dragon. AKA Japanese Job Centre RPG. Love this game.
2. LOU2
3. Tsushima.
Worst - FF7: Remake. F that S.
@Constable_What I liked playing Genshin but it got ruined for me when grinding for primogems could get you a duplicate character and even make it a requirement to get certain upgrades so I quit.
F*** off 2020...except for these games:
1. Astro's Playroom
2. Spider-Man: Miles Morales
3. Ghost of Tsushima
4. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2
5. Final Fantasy 7 Remake
1. Ghosts of Tsushima
2. Dreams
3. TLOU Part 2
4. Demon Souls
5. Spelunky 2
I didn't even see Miles Morales and I feel bad cos I wanted to vote for it.
The moment you realise your backlog is so long you didn't even start playing 2020 games
So many great games. Would be hard to pick.
Loved Ghost of Tsushima, The last of us 2, Miles Morales and Nioh 2. Aegis Rim and Trails of Cold Steel IV were also great.
CyberPunk on PC is also fantastic. Hopefully fixed on PS5 someday.
PlayStation killed it in 2020.
@zupertramp Cole got a facelift and is now known as Mr. Parker. #SorryNotSorry
@Culjoseth If only I had the chance to buy a PS5... I haven't bought GoT only because I'd love to play it on PS5 considering that my OG PS4 sounds like a 90 years old smoker walking up a hill. And obviously Demon's Souls will be my first choice once I'll have the fortune to find a PS5!
Mine are:
1. FF7 Remake
2. Cyberpunk 2077
3. Ghost of Tsushima
4. Last of Us II
@Col_McCafferty I completely agree with you TLOU 2 is not woke.
1. Ghost of Tsushima
2. Final Fantasy VII Remake
3. PS5:R
4. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
5. Streets of Rage 4
As far why no Demon's Souls, Spider-Man MM, DMC5: Special Edition potentially. I don't have a PS5 at the moment unfortunately. The Last of Us II, it's on my list of games to play and it's a game I'm hoping gets a PS5 patch too.
I'm not sure that when you water it down with 5 choices you will really get a consensus #1 pick. It's more an average. After you tally all the votes, I'd love to see you do another poll and just ask what our SINGLE favorite game was. You might be surprised at how different the results would be.
I say this because I played one game this year that really stood out from the rest, but having to pick 5 dilutes the one that I think stands out so much from the other 4.
@LordSteev Exactly this. Many are picking one to two games they absolutely loved along with guesses at games they might like if they ever get around to playing them. It's like, what's the aim here exactly?
Astro's Playroom all the way, made me smile and have fun for as long as it lasted. Second and third place go to Miles Morales and Resident Evil 3.
Astro's Playroom getting more respect, at least so far, than I would've expected. Good to see. Truly believe it is one of the top 5 games this year.
My top 10 (for this website I'll keep it PlayStation-specific):
1. Spider-Man: Miles Morales
2. Streets of Rage 4
3. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
4. Astro's Playroom
5. Ghost of Tsushima
6. Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition
7. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
8. Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
9. Final Fantasy VII Remake
10. Cyberpunk 2077
Honorable Mentions:
DOOM Eternal, The Last of Us: Part II
This will probably change as I haven't played a fair few of the titles on this list (though looking at the options, the only one I can see myself adding is Crash 4), but for now my top five are:
1. Final Fantasy VII Remake
2. Ghost of Tsushima
3. Demon's Souls
4. Spider-Man: Miles Morales
5. Astro's Playroom
Overall, not a crazy year like 2019 was, but still pretty decent.
My goty is final fantasy 7 remake, i was especting that game for ages. I like streets of rage 4, fall guys , resident evil 3 and crash 4 too.
@andreoni79 GOT is too good to wait! Play it with headphones!
@zupertramp Ghost was the best game of this past generation! Jin Sakai was an absolute fantastic character to play! I’m not sure if ur trying to funny or not but ur not funny.
Sad thing to notice, but I haven´t played any of these games. I´m still going through my backlog and buying older games with big discounts.
@Juanalf If pointing out unpopular opinion because it's the right thing to do puts me in that category, so be it. I don't care about what people categorize me as, my own integrity matters far more.
Too much Backlog im behind atleast 1 year.
The Last of Us Part 2 in top stop, and following, in no particular order: Persona 5 Royal, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ghost of Tsushima, and Doom Eternal. Easy really!
I’m afraid it looks like I have only bought one 2020 game, Cyberpunk2077 (which I am very happy with despite what the internet says) Been happy this year with NMS, GT7, RDR2, Judgement, Metro Exodus + picking up indies. The older I get (49) the more particular
I seem to be.
@get2sammyb 'we thought it'd be cool to give readers actual input into our result'
That reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons, that I watched last week, featuring the Sea Captain.
The scenario pictured was a business closing down, with men in protective suits wheeling out Bee hives on trolley's.
Sea Captain: "Yarr, I thought people would like harvesting their own honey.".
Sea Captain: "Yarr, they hated it.".
GoT for me.
TLOU2 was overly long and virtue signalling.
I don't like preachy games.
@Culjoseth I thought it was obvious I was being serious.
Persona 5 Royal received fewer votes than Astro's Playroom. Boy, are you people messed up.
Cyberpunk 2077 (on my base ps4), I know everyone is riding the hate train to StronglyWordedLetterville, but I'm having blast, the last patch stopped all of the crashes and if I drive niiiiice and slow I can hardly notice the pop in. Its FAR from perfect, but my goodness has its fiction drawn me in. Utterly addicted.
Not putting Desperados III on here is a bit of a shame, that’s a solid game, I’m even enjoying Assetto Corsa Competizione despite the 30fps
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
Streets of Rage 4.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
Ghost of Tsushima.
Persona 5 Royal.
13 Sentinels.
The best game you've never played.
My rankings of the games I've played this year.
1. Persona 5:Royal (10/10)- Honestly the most complete game I've ever played and never felt so satisfied. Hundreds of hours of enjoyment and one of my few platinums.
2. Ghost of Tsushima (9/10)- Absolutely beautiful, great story and combat. Felt that more side missions would've been good, but the quality was great.
3. Demon's Souls (9/10)- Such a treat and probably the best launch game I've ever played. Feels a little short, and coming from pc souls and sekiro I miss mods.
4. 13 Sentinel: Aegis Rim (8/10)- Amazing story/visual novel! The battle portions are decent, definitely not the main attraction. I mainly feel that this would've been perfect on vita or switch though. It's consumable in perfect bite sized portions.
5. FFVII: Remake (8/10) - Amazing blend of arpg combat with a slight turn-based strategic feel. Really what put me off was that the combat felt limited in terms of combat. I love that they expanded the story to build the world but also 7s story was a b-tier film compared to 6, 8 and 9 for me. It also doesn't help that at this point I can't really tell what is a retcon or not. Hopefully this means a dirge of cerberus and crisis core remake as well???
6. The Last of Us 2 (7/10) - I just want to preface this with I bought this game twice, once for me and once for my brother. The whole game feels like a movie and the world is beautiful. I definitely thought the second part of the story was the better portion.
But I think early on into the 1st part day 3 I was over it. It felt like I was still playing the original last of us and also uncharted 3/4. The set pieces became predictable. I knew exactly when I'd have to shake for the flashlight. Still 3 pulls to turn on any generator, random things have to be lifted in a interactive scene for no reason. And I just became fatigued with it all and didn't enjoy as much as I had hoped or compared to the previous naughty dog titles.
I'm going with Cyberpunk, for how much it punked everyone on console. : )
Genshin Impact is my GOTY.
Mafia Definitive Edition?
only played two of these on Playstation console (GoT, TLoUII)
Ghost of Tsushima
Demons Souls
