Re: 'Sony Finally Understands': Over 70% of PS5 Fans Agree with Decision to Scrap PC Ports

Deadlyblack

If you want to play Bloodborne at 60 fps with 4k textures, just buy a PC or Steam Deck bro, it's not that hard. /s

Joking aside, at least Death Stranding 2 is coming to PC (yes I know Kojima owns the IP). I was hoping Ghost of Yotei and the Demon Souls remake would've made it to PC before the plug was pulled but ah well, I still have my copy of Demon Souls on the shelf and can just buy Yotei for my PS5.

I just like playing games with native ultrawide lol.

Curious to see what happens with it.

But I could actually see Microsoft pulling back on releasing Xbox games on Playstation with this console, especially since they talked about PC directly in the tweet. Like everyone has been saying, strategies can change pretty suddenly, so I wouldn't be surprised if this happens.

@graymamba I'm sure having PSN restrictions on PC games, which locked out a good portion of the world from buying the games on Steam, hurt them more then piracy, but hey, in the end Sony is a multi-billion dollar company so they don't need me to help them figure out how they can save money, that's what they have people hired for.

Re: Opinion: Sony's PC Pullback Is the Right Move for PS5

@graymamba The thing is, Sony pulling back on PC releases has nothing to do with piracy. It's not mentioned in the original article or brought up by Sammy here in his opinion piece, so there's no point in arguing logistics regarding it. The other reasons were already pointed out by Jason Schreier's Bloomberg article.

Re: Opinion: Sony's PC Pullback Is the Right Move for PS5

@graymamba Bloodborne was never released on PC but it can be played there. MGS4 was playable on PC before the official release.

I just find it funny when people talk about piracy like we the customers have to stop it. Piracy has nothing to do with Sony's strategy here, they're looking at their own brand and how they can keep the strength up.
I think the new Xbox being able to have Steam is what's moving Sony's hand here, cause they don't want Playstation games playable on an Xbox console.

@Nei I totally get where you're coming from on your points.

The thing about PC releases is the game should be optimized for a general range of PCs, and that's why Steam does hardware surveys a few times per year, to help devs figure out what they should shoot for regarding minimum/average hardware. When Sony's games were optimized well, they played really good on a wide range of PCs, even the handhelds (Steam Deck, Legion Go etc) ran them really well without compromises.

I've already said what I said regarding releasing older or newer releases so I don't want to be a broken record on that topic lol.

But piracy well, there's nothing you can do about piracy. People are always going to crack any kind of DRM a game has and put it online.

I think the biggest reason ports like Spidey 2 didn't make a big financial splash is due to the port having a ton of issues when it was released, which makes people hesitant to buy it for full price and would rather resort to buying it on a sale. Like people say, there's issues in a few of the ports that were never fixed and likely never will.

Tsushima and Stellar Blade's ports were masterfully done and word of mouth that they're well done helps a ton for sales.
If the ports are poorly done, they're going to sell poorly.

I've said on this site way, way back that Sony putting their older games on PC, after the initial sales for a said game are really low due to it being out for a few years, is the best move to help generate more sales for the game. I don't think it hurts their overall brand when it's older releases.

Granted this is my own 2 cents on this whole debacle lol, I'm not a gatekeeper when it comes to game releases. I mean, I still think Valve should've released Half-Life Alyx on the PSVR2 cause it's one of the best VR titles out there.

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

I was a big time physical buyer for many years but I switched to digital a few years ago. Physical games just take up so much shelf space and I got tired of dealing with retailers/shipping companies taking a week to get a game to me that's supposed to be "guaranteed" on release.

My internet speeds have gotten a lot faster over the years which helped with my decision to switch. I also play primarily on pc so there's sites that sell Steam games with discounts.
