Ratchet & Clank Mobile Game Is Gearing Up for Global Launch, Pre-Registration Open

I tried this briefly last year and, while it was good quick fun, I just really wished there was a console version planned.

I got excited for a second when I saw Ratchet...

Can we get PS4/5 releases of the PS2 trilogy + Deadlock to celebrate the occasion, Sony...?

If only that third word in the headline didn't exist...

Is there a disc version ?

Looks gross, just like 99% of mobile games.

The world would be a better place if mobile phones were still only strong enough to play Tetris or Snake.

Have a feeling this could be a sacrificial lamb sent out to die. I genuinely dont think R&C holds enough weight to carry a solid mobile experience and any die hard Playstation fan is skipping it either because its mobile or because of the current sony climate regarding the end of physical

I'd give it a try on PS, but just can't stand mobile controls, and if I'm gonna use a controller might as well use my TV and PS5

Well, that’s me excited and then just as quickly saddened. I won’t be playing this iteration of Ratchet & Clank, but I certainly hope I shall see them in console form at some point in the next few years.

I kinda wish this would've also been released on PS5/PC instead of just being mobile cause I really detest playing games on a phone. But hey, at least it's more Ratchet content.

They lost me at multiplayer hero shooter but did give me more motivation to get Splatoon Raiders, which doesn’t really have anything resembling a story, but it still seems like a lot more story than this.

@RoomWithaMoose I think it usually adds to the word count. In some formal areas there's actually quite some trouble on how to count logical and mathematical symbols for e.g. thesis word limits and such.

I would be all over this game if it had a console or even Steam version. But I just really don't like to play games on mobile.

After GT it's the longest ongoing franchise they have and it should be treated with more respect than Sony gives it. Like it's criminal that the only playable ones on them are the reimagening of 1, Rift Apart, and the 2 PSP games. I get the Future cycle + the other 2 spin-offs are a pain due to PS3 things, but 1-4 should have already been released in the modern PS2 emulator they have, like Sly Cooper was.

@8thDoctor Sony could have made the ps5 backwards compatible with the ps3, they just chose not to. Even strangers managed to get ps3 games to run on PC which is crazy to me

With Insomniac becoming a Marvel factory, this crap is the only Ratchet game we'll see in next 15 years.

@get2sammyb A bit old hat by now, but Golden Bolt did a video on it a few months ago that provides a fairly robust view of the game.
I'm also glad they're adding controller support.

@AK4tywill Back in the day this would’ve launched as a PSN or Vita spin-off. Sadly, now we have to be happy with mobile only.

So it has no map depth, no gadget use, no interesting level design ideas at all. Just raritanium, sikins and utter garbage. I'll play Going Moible, at least it was a cellphone entry in the series with depth. This does not. Might as well play any other game, oh it has Ratchet/Clank, oh so it must be played because it has characters you can put anywhere, that are not offering personality here? Like at all.

Under The Skin had perks and disguises. Plenty of other games have their ideas. Foamstars I had ideas unique to it with foam, not Splatoon/other games modes slightly tweaked. Can you tell why I find multiplayer games boring for 'gameplay' that is just characters that all play the same or no abilities or things a series is known for and excels at isn't featured? Just dumbing it down like everything else in this medium these days. I wouldn't play an Echoes of the End game if it was multiplayer and removed what made that game good either.

I like Ratchet for the gameplay, this isn't it. Even Rift Apart's was weak too but had fair ideas. None of that is even here at all.

Oh one had the wall running but it could just be for art sake and not for level design depth. So why bother?

They could use animations to automate things, but they wouldn't even do that. This is an insert IP here game, and it's boring. I don't respect it.

I play a game series that has gadgets, weapons and level design with creativity and decent story, everyone else plays a series with story, some creativity they overlook and don't care about and go yeah I like the characters, and those that just eat up brands/characters regardless of 'depth'.

You have a series like Ratchet and go let's make it basic and boring? This isn't Horizon, Uncharted, God of War Norse era, or others with their particular mechanics and settings. This is Ratchet. One of the most varied of creativity. With story telling that's as open of framing hero's journey and consumerism framing. But no it's just some cell shaded multiplayer bland game. Where is the personality in this mobile game? It doesn't have to for story telling but even just the environments. The artstyle is not bad, it's the personality is lacking.

The mobile game has no personality. Just recyclable personality that's boring, bland and forgettable. Easy to produce, move on and not care. The kind many people eat up and don't think twice about other then it's got characters/an IP name attached as they clearly don't care at all.

Sounds great Sony. Even Federation Force had fair scenarios for it's missions and blast ball was ok but I've played car soccer that was more fun then Blast Ball. Metroid has it's depth.

If Activision did the same with Pitfall I'd be just as annoyed, all that creative mundane ideas and not used well in multiplayer, but that wouldn't exist either as they have other IPs they care about more.

A series as creative as Ratchet and we get 'insert characters/IP here' and none of what made it creative. This is why I hate multiplayer games and mobile games. It's waste of the IP.

Maps are just bland, characters are all the same, the gameplay is just not there. It's basic, it's boring, it's pathetic. Automated animations, nope, so who cares about skill or fun if there is no fun, just bare minimum design efforts for skins.

IF they used the gadgets, had their OWN ideas of gadgets and weapons, sure but it will just be recycling with bare minimum ideas. All it is, is IP inserted to mobile, with nothing else to it.

Part 2:
Games are so uncreative and bland, why would I want to play them?

You need more then 'selling an IP' why have games with so much gameplay depth, and make the bare minimum, it sticks out like a sore thumb but I mean if audiences are dumb and love characters/brands and don't care about gameplay, no wonder I find human beings super boring. They have no depth either.

This mobile game is trash, it has no personality.

Oh it has more to it then wipEout Rush, oh sure, because that game didn't need less depth then Gran Turismo B-Spec? Or any other manager games. It was pathetic too. Lifeless.

Onrush was a great successor to Motorstorm, but who cared, it was multiplayer first but it's varied modes were still fun for a singleplayer experience too.

These games need to do more it's just very underwhelming.

Its not just accessible or RPG stats, skins, etc. and more anymore it's just making games have more then just insert IP to basic framework, its just pathetic.
