AC Black Flag: Resynced Keeps on Selling, Now at 3 Million Units

Weird they are talking sales and not player numbers now, lol.

Ubisoft deserved some good news. They are an excellent developer. Not perfect, but nobody is.

As much as I despise Ubisoft for everything that has happened, I'm glad to see a game succeed, especially an iconic entry like this one.

This was a pretty easy layup, all they had to do was not f*** it up which from playing it right now I can confirm they haven't.

I'm struggling not to go pick this up. Favourite game in the series, very happy time playing this on PS4 at launch.

Do we have the numbers of the cleaners or security that have been sacked by this company over the last while also Microsoft and Sony if sackings is all anyone wants to talk about let's get right in there should we feel sorry for cleaning staff or just devs that get sacked maybe we should find out if anyones pet has died either due to the lay offs we could properly get to the root of this with that information!

I think it was fairly obvious that was my point rather than they don't matter which is the exact opposite!
I don't know how you got to that conclusion.
Also I've loads if empathy just not anymore on this subject because it's just the industry nowadays.
The outrage every time this happens is stomach churning gaming is a hobby not to mop and feel sad for complete strangers who know what job security is like in that industry.

@Banjo- Pop ups don't show at all. You have to go out of your way to find the store and animus stuff. Its such a non issue.

I hope they can follow the Capcom Resident Evil model of alternating between new titles and remakes.

With all the industry layoffs and Ubisoft themselves hiving off studios, there is ample capacity for third party teams to act as remaster studios.

I would especially like a total redo of Liberation. Expanding and elaborating on the costume mechanic. Compete rework of everything to make it more like a full home console game.

I have the AC collection in my library but haven’t touched the series since finishing 3. Any recommendations on which one to play next? I have Black Flag, Unity, Origins, Valhalla, and Odyssey in my backlog.

I wouldn't play any of the others myself I prefer the original style games not the rpg like ones.

A nice concept for a remake would be to streamline the Ezio trilogy into one epic storyline,trimming the fat off and getting rid of the present day stuff.

@lacerz I haven’t played Unity but Black Flag is worth it if you’re interested in the classic formula. Syndicate is just meh. As for Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla , they’re more similar to the Witcher. A lot of “bloat” you could say, but if you’re interested in the RPG titles, of those three I’d recommend Origins.

@lacerz Yeah give it a go I really enjoyed unity aswell it's very good especially with the current gen upgrade.
I played an completed it about a month before the update was released/announced unlucky for me haha 😂

@Zuljaras The bloat started with the RPG era of AC, Origins get's a pass don't only just and as much as I love Odyssey, the map is way too big (also quite barren in a lot places), most of the side quests are painfully dull and having to level to continue the story was certainly a choice....

Good. The update to a great game is awesome. I am loving it.

I do want to pick this up cause I enjoyed Black Flag, but it's also making me want to play Origins again since Origins is my favorite in the series lol.

To put in my two-penny worth, the original Assassin's Creed and Syndicate are my favourites among the classics (before Origins).

Maybe things are (sorta) healing. Too bad they still couldn’t make it a true physical release, but Ubisoft seems incapable of that these days.

@Dogbreath I need to play Liberation, I only have that and Unity’s plats left to go minus the newest two games. I remember starting it after finishing 3 and then getting distracted by playing Black Flag instead.

@Banjo- Syndicate is actually the one classic era AC game that I never played but I definitely need to. I always thought the London setting was really cool.

I'm just sick of the big pity parade for devs everytime some get let go which happens non stop every couple of months for the last couple years.
I argue it's just not news or shocking anymore and people should just enjoy there hobby rather than wallow in misery everytime a sacking happens.
People get sacked in every industry everyday it's life.
But no only Sony Microsoft and now Ubisoft are terrible for doing what every company and business have done since forever!

Broadly agree although I do wish they would reign in the micro-transaction stuff. I do think it's a fair criticism that their game design has become quite formulaic in respect of open world design but I quite enjoy their games nonetheless.

@DennisReynolds The Lost Crown is so good! Hoping for a sequel! The only thing I hate about it is that it went on PS+ a few weeks after I paid for it lol.

@Deadlyblack The first Assassin's Creed has a tight and engaging story and it looks and plays impressively well, at least on Series X. The beginning of Syndicate is boring, but after a while you start noticing the great gameplay upgrades and the smoother traversal, and caring about the low-key characters and story the more you play the game.

@AhmadSumadi yeah I know! I was making a dig at the super successful shadows.

Exactly why everybody does remake/remasters. Why risk a new game in a franchise or god forbid, new IP when a remake/remaster is as close to a guaranteed smash hit as you'll get, presuming you have that beloved title in your back catalogue.

Ubisoft will of course be happy with the win, not sure it does anything for them long term though, they're going to need multiple consecutive big wins to put them in a healthy position.

@Shirtpotatoes75 To be fair with the MTX stuff it is balanced out with tons of free updates. Like Shadows for its final update got new story content, a big new game mode with its own rewards and tons of legacy armour and weapons added, all of this was 100% free. Ubi even go back to older games and give them free PS5 updates so they're 60fps and higher res on PS5.

Yeah, I agree the get lots right too which does get the recognition they deserve.

I find myself wishing for remasters of the Ezio games in this updated engine, these modern AC games look absolutely stellar.

@Mr-Cage Empathy costs nothing. Games are pretty much the only thing keeping me sane since being laid off in an adjacent sector, so seeing the people working hard to make those games also being laid off is incredibly sad. It’s not difficult to have human emotions.

@Banjo- I think I do remember people saying the traversal was a big plus for Syndicate. I kinda remember the game having a really cool grappling hook that Ubisoft implemented.

I’m enjoying Resynced very much so far. I may be in the minority but I’d love a remake of 3. It’s my second favorite AC after Black Flag. Although it would be cool if Connor could be rewritten a bit to be a little more entertaining and charismatic.

Resynced is so good in my opinion, the graphics also make the original version look dreadful. I'm not an Assassins Creed fan but I love Black Flag, it's the best Pirate game ever made and I've played quite a few including Sid Meier's Pirates! . Only other AC game I've played is Odyssey due to being a big fan of Anicent Greece & Greek Mythology, also prefered how it was more of an RPG.

@Mr-Cage For one, it's not a pity parade. Ever stop to think that people's enjoyment of the hobby is being affected by this? As in, "well there goes my favourite studio"? Like I'm a big fan of the modern Doom games. Going forward we don't know is idSoftware still capable of making them because of the firings that happened there. The industry is in dire straits, and it should be reported on.

There's also that common empathy that you seem to lack. You're simultaneously moaning you just want to enjoy your games while shrugging your shoulders at the people who make them getting fired. The air of self-entitlement is unreal.

And some of us have friends who work in the industry too, so seeing studios having their head count getting shredded at every turn is an actual concern that hits close to the home.

@lacerz Black Flag is a good choice, but I would highly recommend Origins, too. They're both neck and neck for my favorite of the series. Origins is the first "rpg" AC, but it's not as overwhelming as the ones that follow and has a compelling story of revenge. Hands down, best setting of the series, though that's according to taste.

I agree that Star Wars Outlaws sucked, but Far Cry 6 (the most recent one) is my favourite in the series (and I've been playing it since the original on PC).

About time we had a real PS5 Pro PSSR 2.0 Avatar update.
One great looking game might just stop the fuzz and smearing with PSSR 2.0.

The game is so good. And thank you Ubisoft for releasing on disc. Ubisoft get a lot of stick but there are way worse devs cough Rockstar cough. And also FU Sony.

I feel they should of released it without being full of DLC as a complete edition. Kept it at a decent price for a while enjoyed the steady income. But they always want all the money launch week. There is no real incentive to buy it when I know it will be on sale in a month.

It's on my radar as i never bothered with the original. The graphics are NaughtyDog level excellent even on base ps5.

@CheapMerc the original black flag had these things too. they are all optional , as you can get keys with in the game to unlock cosmetics. i'm pretty sure the keys are cross game as well , as you can get keys from the other ac games and spend them.

glad to see it be successful and it sounds like they have mulitple remakes already being worked on right now , along with hexe ( which hopefully gets a full reveal soon), hopefully ac1 is one of those games getting a remake.

@MikeOrator im pretty sure there was a few parts in the original game that were like that , and i would end up quiting a lot and going back to it. at least this seems more forgiving as its not an automatic fail restart if they see you.

@MikeOrator are you sure you mean those games? i thought both of those had gotten 60 fps patches? and to the other post ya exactly that , i had to keep redoing parts over and over because of either one mistake , or lucky shots hit me and sank the ship and its start all over again lol.

edit: getting a little farther in the game , i can't remember if they had auto sail or not in the original , but i do enjoy the quality of life improvements that help modernize the game a little bit more.

Great to hear its performing well. I've been having a great time with it thus far! It's certainly cemented Black Flag as one of the very best AC games.

Alot of people like Black Flag. Tbf I didnt play much of the original but have played a fair bit of this one. I do plan to go back to the original once I finish this one.

One of the best remakes i've played, Ubi really cooked with it. Really hope AC1 is next in time for the 20th (god i feel old).

Literally the only AC game I could stomach.
And it was only good because they seem to be good at pirate games, its shame they kept going with the AC stuff and ran it into the ground.

Id of liked to see them move away from AC and do a fully fledged pirate game.

It's on my to play one day list, defo a sale game for me, to much to play and to much coming out for me to play for me to pick this up right now. Glad it's doing well though. Not many Ubi games have landed with me in recent years.

@MrPeanutbutterz skull and bones was made by a different development team and took the ship battle element and actually made it worse.

I thought AC1 was a chore, I was bored with AC2 and dragged myself through it.
Never bothered with AC3.
I only bothered with Black Flag because I have an interest in pirate lore and it was a launch game for PS4. It held my interest, for me to complete the game and enjoy it, but I honestly believe the worst parts of the game are the actual AC parts of it.

The next lot of AC games were rinsed and repeat or so dam long i couldnt be bothered.

Made me think, the team did a really good job with black flag they should of ditched the whole AC gimmick and stuck with the subject matter instead. I feel like they are really good at world building but the actual let down of the game is the assassin part.

Hopefully, this is a good wake-up call for Ubisoft to pivot the AC franchise into either single-player action-adventure games without the bloat or full live-service AC games that feed the needs of those who love the AC RPG bloat.

I would much rather have them not make a bloated single-player game, which is really just a live-service game masquerading as a single-player game.

There's what, 250 million console users worldwide, and Black Flag Resynced has sold 3 million.

Between the success of this entry and unexpected success of Mirage (Ubisoft keeps touting how well it sold based on expectations), perhaps we will eventually see a revival of the non-open world epic fantasy games.

I still love me new open world entries (Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla and Shadows are all fantastic IMO) but I really miss the more classic entries too and think they could alternate between those two types of games.

In a perfect world, we would get an epic fantasy one every 4-5 years with one or two old-style entries (new or remasters) in between. And DLC for the fantasy ones... still upset there was so little DLC for Shadows... 😢

@MrPeanutbutterz there’s a difference between a remake/remaster of a game from 2013 and one done for a game from 2020. One of these is fine, the other is just a cash grab.
