Dragon Ball's Biggest Game, Sparking Zero, Gets Even Bigger on PS5 Next Week 1

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, the behemoth anime fighting game from Bandai Namco, will expand in scale once more next week – as the publisher has attached a 30th July release date to its Super Limit-Breaking Neo DLC.

If you missed the reveal, this expansion will include more than 30 new playable characters, four stages, gameplay adjustments, and even an RPG-lite mode where you’ll level up your favourite character throughout a series of vaguely roguelike-ish battles.

There’s a lot more about the new mode on the PS Blog, which is called the Limit Breaker Journey.

Here’s a bit more about how it all works:

“As you level up your SP, you will receive points that can be allocated amongst six different stats. Players can freely allocate their points to customise their character to fit their preferred style of play. As you continue to train your character, you may run into battles with special conditions, events that involve collecting the Dragon Ball, and even encounter some pretty tough enemies after you fulfill certain in-game conditions. You can repeat the run with the same character to continue training the character, and once you’re done with the challenge, you can bring your character to showcase your strength against your friends in player matches and in offline battles.”

If you’re not interested in the DLC specifically, Sparking Zero will also be getting a free update improving various aspects of the game.

This includes a new mechanic named Chain Blast, as detailed in the press release:

“Chain Blast is a new mechanic that creates an additional follow-up opportunity after sending an opponent flying. By switching to a reserve ally and continuing the attack with a blast, players can deal massive damage.”

There’ll also be variations of existing stages added for free, so you’ll have some slightly different arenas to duke out in.

As far as I can see, there’s no price attached to the new DLC just yet, but with over 30 characters included I’m not expecting it to be cheap.

Is this something you’re personally planning to pick up? Or have you had your fill of Sparking! Zero already? Let us know below.
