Zenless Zone Zero will celebrate its second anniversary with v3.1, launching later this month on 29th July.
But while the usual array of free pulls (up to 30 this year) has me feeling happy, it’s confirmation of a crossover event with Honkai: Star Rail that’s got me particularly hyped.
While the exact nature of the collaboration is unknown, it’s expected that the two HoYoverse titles will exchange characters, creating a new kind of cinematic universe.
Honestly, if we get Kafka in ZZZ – which genuinely feels like a good fit – then I’ll explode.

We won’t find out more until later in the year, but for now, v3.1 will plot the arrival of the highly anticipated Remielle Dan, who’ll be available throughout the entire duration of the update.
Sigrid will follow in the second phase, while there’ll be multiple re-runs, including Dialyn, Ukinami Yuzuha, and Asaba Harumasa. Angels of Delusion star Aria will flank Remielle Dan through the first half of the update.
The dev is actually making some changes to the 50/50 in v3.1, allowing you to pick a variety of different agents to obtain if you lose the gacha. This will make team-building a little better, as you’ll hopefully be able to obtain a useful character even when your luck is low.
It’s also giving away a free S-Rank and their W-Engine as part of the second year anniversary celebrations: Jane, Soldier 0 Anby, Hugo, Trigger, and Lucia will all be up for grabs. I’ll probably choose Lucia to help level up her Mindscape.
Speaking of Mindscapes, you’ll be able to further power up Pyrois by engaging in a new permanent event, a dungeon crawler-style mode inspired by the original Hollow exploration gameplay from the title’s launch.
There’ll also be a new seaside-style minigame to celebrate the summer, where you’ll need to comb the beach for seashells that can then be sold at a souvenir shop. I’m really looking forward to that.
Those who participate in the event can unlock a free outfit for Lucy, while Remielle Dan and Sigrid will also be getting swimwear.
That’s a lot of content, but these anniversary updates are always huge. I must say, though, it’s that collaboration with Honkai: Star Rail that I’m really looking forward to – I can’t wait for more details later in the year.
