Konami has today revealed the resolutions that Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will run at when they launch on PS5 via next month's Master Collection Vol. 2 package.
It's important to recognise these new versions are much, much closer to ports than they are proper remasters, but there are still some noteworthy upgrades to appreciate — especially in the case of Peace Walker.
Across the board, on base PS5 and PS5 Pro, the PS5 version of Metal Gear Solid 4 will output at a 4K resolution and run at 60 frames-per-second. This means the PS3 classic can now finally run at a higher frame rate much more consistently, and it's paired with a resolution bump that will make the game look slightly better.

At its best, Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 was only 1080p.
When it comes to Peace Walker, the developer is offering a few different options to pick from: Original Mode, Adjusted Mode, High Resolution Mode, and Custom Mode. The title still offers 4K and 60FPS support, but it's in the hand-drawn cutscenes where you'll notice considerable enhancements.
You can view the comparisons in the video below:
The new High Resolution Mode removes the touch of bluriness the original version has and makes the cutscenes much clearer and sharper.
If you want to see where the work's been done on Konami's side, it looks like Peace Walker will demonstrate it best.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 2. comes to PS5 on 27th August 2026, making Guns of the Patriots and Peace Walker available on modern hardware again. They're also bundled in with bonus digital items and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel from the Game Boy Color.
