Played this when it was released on GP. Or rather, tried it. Wasn't very good at that time, but I'm assuming it got patched. If not, it's not gonna be a very good fit for PS (basically, I don't see people paying explicitly for such rough game, but most would try it out if free as part of a service - Xbox model).
I'm ok with this. Mortal Shell got a lot of love online, included Lego game I don't own means I don't need to purchase one for the rest of the family, and Godfall.. this gives me a chance to try it for free and have a good laugh (at it, not with it).
Love to see Miles back. When it came out initial sales made me nervous, because I really wanted it to do well and bring Insomniac credit they deserve. I guess that has been laid to rest.
Yet again, this proves that Sony's storage solution as a complete package has been well designed and superior to the competition. There has been a negative media spin put on maybe the greatest tech decision made in the current generation and it makes me a bit afraid that it will get forgotten/pushed aside because of it.
@thefourfoldroot I think looking like douchebags is their "brand". Understandably it might scratch some people the wrong way, but it is all an act/persona they want to project. On topic, I love PS5 default design since day one (which is not as often, most people grew on it over time) so I won't be modifying it in near future.
Is there a stat somewhere on how many console players actually have a VRR capable screen? I'm sure I'm not the only one without it, not planning to upgrade my TV in near future?
Knew from the first trailer I was gonna be buying this day one.. didn't even matter what future reviews would be saying (similar to Immortals Fenyx Rising, I just knew it was for me and loved every second of it).
Hopefully all AAA games move over to PS5 only by 2nd quarter of 2022... It's been about time to start designing for new hardware without fallback mechanics.
There is something really wrong with this article (I'm saying this with all due respect as a fan and regular reader of your content). Personally, I went in with very high expectations, too high. Still, show was a B for me, which is on par with Nintendos showing in my book (Team green getting a C). Pacing might have been a bit bad, starting with boring content through first half that seems like it had to be in there due to contractual obligations, but man did it open up after that. Games like Forspoken, Project Eve, Ghostwire, GT7, Uncharted 4 remaster, God Of War: Ragnarok and anything Insomniac Games wants to touch or work on (I'm calling it here, they'll be shaping MGU, Marvel Gaming Universe).. these were amazing. I don't think one can objectively dispute that. Especially GOW, it's a sequel to a rebooted game that ended on a cliffhanger, it should be similar and continuation (ending?) of this story! It's the whole bloody point.
Recently decided not to renew my subscription, but this is one decent lineup. Most of these "smaller" games I already own on Switch and have been some of the most fun I had lately.
Yeah, I don't expect DualSense support will turn this game around.. hopefully it does and more developers embrace controller features, but I just don't see it.
@GamingFan4Lyf actually, I'm on Team RGB but I sort of root for Sony because people tend to give them too much cr*p, when they maybe deserve 10% of it.
Personally, I liked this showcase. They set the expectations right (indie, smaller games + Deathloop) and then proceeded with the show having some actual GAMEPLAY. I tend to love those because prerendered cinematics doesn't prove to be great indicators of game appeal.
Strong month then... Hopefully they can keep this momentum for a few months. (There are 3 "won't buy them, but would love trying them" games in that lineup for me, that's huge)
In my mind this only looks bad on ID/Bethesda.. it can be done and these days it can be seamless for end user.. therefore you do it, and keep the consistent quality bubble alive.
@themcnoisy sorry, but this was not my point.. idea I wanted to get over, companies acquiring studios might not be best of strategies, because it is just acquiring assets which have the least amount of value in a game studio. As you said yourself, what actually makes it "tick" is something you can't buy.
This opens up an interesting question about all the acquisitions lately.. does it make sense to aquire a studio if leads and higher-ups can leave at anytime and start from scratch somewhere else?
Makes me really interested in what changed (because the original explanation sounded too simplified and unrealistic to me). I would bet nothing, but that is just me, sceptic.. 😁
Sony needs to fix PSNow and PSPlus and maybe combine them into alternative to Game Pass. And quickly. But as for content quality and exclusives, PS is good after that presentation. There are like 2 games that I felt awed by (one of them was Forza Horizon, which is always a given).
Jim is probably not fit to do this PR stuff, but I agree with him (and have been saying that all along since current gen started). I don't care about compatibility with pre-PS4, because I won't really play those games. At best, I might boot them up for 5 mins to refresh my memory (as I did on my Xbox), but I won't play through them. I do however, want to play through Ratchet and Clank: Rift apart..
Today I've actually commented about how bad what Xbox is doing is. Sony's approach I feel is much better for the industry, where it is a temp deal, there is no lock-in for the studio and less fear a consumer will get stuck in a single ecosystem indefinitely.
I would argue rating system needs to become more complex... If final grade was broken into components, and one of those was "value", it would make it very obvious at first glance why a "virtually flawless" game is just great (8), at 12 hour playtime for 70$.
I can understand knocking game score down due to price, but this review won't age well (when standard price goes down, or game ends up in infinite sales loop, you should revise and bump up the score a point).
Fair enough, everybody can have their own opinion. Combat aspect of it worked for me, because it's supposed to be clunky and you should be missing resources.. it's just regular people trying to shoot each other down in a bad situation, it shouldn't look like in fancy action movies. At least, that is just my (opinion).
I guess it's a bit like saying old RE games have poor shooting mechanic.. it's exactly why it worked.
If it's anything like original stalker, it can only benefit from a 6-month delay. That game was buggy.. great potential, but almost unplayable at release date.
Not a great month for me.. Borderlands 3 I already own (and at least on PS5 it's a great game), Marvel Avengers looks to be pretty bad and beyond fixing at this point.. The long dark might actually end up being the only thing of interest for me 😕

Re: Sony Set to Combine PS Plus and PS Now to Create Xbox Game Pass Competitor on PS5, PS4
Assuming reasonable pricing, I would signup for this.

Re: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Gets Ray Tracing Mode in New PS5 Update
I don't see a Black Friday discount in those patch notes. Disappointed!!
Re: UK Sales Charts: Call of Duty: Vanguard Storms the Top 10, Selling Best on PS5
Love to see Miles back. When it came out initial sales made me nervous, because I really wanted it to do well and bring Insomniac credit they deserve. I guess that has been laid to rest.
Re: PS Now Annual Subs Half-Price in Select European Countries
Any news or instructions on how to check which regions are applicable for this discount?
EDIT: Nevermind, forgot I already had a UK account..
Re: Returnal Update 2.0 Finally Lets You Suspend Your Run
Definitely should have been there from the get go. But with that said, it still is a welcomed addition making a good game great.

Re: Feature: 12 PS5 Firmware Updates We Want to See
Great list, missing generic media player (which would be my vote).
Also, it seems like I'm among few that don't really care about themes 🤷♂️
Re: Rumour: PS Plus October 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Have Leaked
If true, terrible month. MK is already in collection and too old anyway, rest is just uninteresting. Maybe next..

MOOOOMMM, Sony did Sony again...!!

Predator is the only one I'm not interested in. But 2 out of 3 is a decent month, can't complain..

Wasn't Hideo supposed to do an Xbox game next?
Re: Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Is Superb, But Sony Shouldn't Be Charging Extra for PS5 Upgrade

Sony is really lacking some marketing. Team Green would make a breaking news out of this, biggest gift since Nature gave us life on Earth, etc..

Re: Deal: Returnal, Demon's Souls, Spider-Man in PS5 Weekend Sale
Sackboy and Miles Morales are both great pickups.
I might have to give in and get Returnal now..
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite PS5, PS4 Game of 2021 So Far?
Yeah, that's gonna be Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart... But a lot of great games, just not as good as that one..

Re: High-Profile Xbox Series X|S Horror The Medium Rated for PS5 Release
Cool it's coming to PS5, but the game is rather boring and bad. Oh well...
Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Goes Gold, Ready for June Release on PS5
Last 4 games these guys released (including this), I got day one.. damn fine studio.
Re: Dreamy PS5 Controller Colours Cosmic Red, Midnight Black Announced
These look awesome! Gonna get myself just the red one though, since I only need a single extra.

Didn't buy it just yet (because I first need to get another DualSense) but I sure will.
Re: PS5 Firmware Update 21.01-03.00.00.38 Is Available to Download Now
Great update.. in typical Sony fashion, a bit out of nowhere, but a lot of wanted fixes for me (cold storage for PS5 games being No. 1)
Re: PS Now's New Games Are PS4 Only, No PS5 Upgrade Path
This is disappointing... very sorry I actually purchased the service in the first place :/
