Knew from the first trailer I was gonna be buying this day one.. didn't even matter what future reviews would be saying (similar to Immortals Fenyx Rising, I just knew it was for me and loved every second of it).

Can't wait for pushsquare to give it a 7/10, although purexbox gave it a 9/10..😛

Hopefully all AAA games move over to PS5 only by 2nd quarter of 2022... It's been about time to start designing for new hardware without fallback mechanics.

There is something really wrong with this article (I'm saying this with all due respect as a fan and regular reader of your content).
Personally, I went in with very high expectations, too high. Still, show was a B for me, which is on par with Nintendos showing in my book (Team green getting a C).
Pacing might have been a bit bad, starting with boring content through first half that seems like it had to be in there due to contractual obligations, but man did it open up after that. Games like Forspoken, Project Eve, Ghostwire, GT7, Uncharted 4 remaster, God Of War: Ragnarok and anything Insomniac Games wants to touch or work on (I'm calling it here, they'll be shaping MGU, Marvel Gaming Universe).. these were amazing. I don't think one can objectively dispute that.
Especially GOW, it's a sequel to a rebooted game that ended on a cliffhanger, it should be similar and continuation (ending?) of this story! It's the whole bloody point.

Recently decided not to renew my subscription, but this is one decent lineup. Most of these "smaller" games I already own on Switch and have been some of the most fun I had lately.

Predator is the only one I'm not interested in. But 2 out of 3 is a decent month, can't complain..

Wasn't Hideo supposed to do an Xbox game next?

Yeah, this should have been a free upgrade. As much as I love the game, can't support such behavior with purchase :/

Yeah, I don't expect DualSense support
will turn this game around.. hopefully it does and more developers embrace controller features, but I just don't see it.

@GamingFan4Lyf actually, I'm on Team RGB but I sort of root for Sony because people tend to give them too much cr*p, when they maybe deserve 10% of it.

Sony is really lacking some marketing. Team Green would make a breaking news out of this, biggest gift since Nature gave us life on Earth, etc..

Personally, I liked this showcase. They set the expectations right (indie, smaller games + Deathloop) and then proceeded with the show having some actual GAMEPLAY. I tend to love those because prerendered cinematics doesn't prove to be great indicators of game appeal.

Strong month then... Hopefully they can keep this momentum for a few months. (There are 3 "won't buy them, but would love trying them" games in that lineup for me, that's huge)

Can't see this being real... Sony has been systematically destroying Now, such month would be too good to be true.

In my mind this only looks bad on ID/Bethesda.. it can be done and these days it can be seamless for end user.. therefore you do it, and keep the consistent quality bubble alive.

@themcnoisy sorry, but this was not my point.. idea I wanted to get over, companies acquiring studios might not be best of strategies, because it is just acquiring assets which have the least amount of value in a game studio.
As you said yourself, what actually makes it "tick" is something you can't buy.

This opens up an interesting question about all the acquisitions lately.. does it make sense to aquire a studio if leads and higher-ups can leave at anytime and start from scratch somewhere else?

This could become a huge problem soon.. it does not look good when Sony does such moves.

Sony needs to fix PSNow and PSPlus and maybe combine them into alternative to Game Pass. And quickly.
But as for content quality and exclusives, PS is good after that presentation. There are like 2 games that I felt awed by (one of them was Forza Horizon, which is always a given).

Jim is probably not fit to do this PR stuff, but I agree with him (and have been saying that all along since current gen started).
I don't care about compatibility with pre-PS4, because I won't really play those games.
At best, I might boot them up for 5 mins to refresh my memory (as I did on my Xbox), but I won't play through them. I do however, want to play through Ratchet and Clank: Rift apart..

Today I've actually commented about how bad what Xbox is doing is. Sony's approach I feel is much better for the industry, where it is a temp deal, there is no lock-in for the studio and less fear a consumer will get stuck in a single ecosystem indefinitely.

I would argue rating system needs to become more complex...
If final grade was broken into components, and one of those was "value", it would make it very obvious at first glance why a "virtually flawless" game is just great (8), at 12 hour playtime for 70$.

I can understand knocking game score down due to price, but this review won't age well (when standard price goes down, or game ends up in infinite sales loop, you should revise and bump up the score a point).

Cool it's coming to PS5, but the game is rather boring and bad. Oh well...

Last 4 games these guys released (including this), I got day one.. damn fine studio.

Fair enough, everybody can have their own opinion. Combat aspect of it worked for me, because it's supposed to be clunky and you should be missing resources.. it's just regular people trying to shoot each other down in a bad situation, it shouldn't look like in fancy action movies. At least, that is just my (opinion).
I guess it's a bit like saying old RE games have poor shooting mechanic.. it's exactly why it worked.

If it's anything like original stalker, it can only benefit from a 6-month delay. That game was buggy.. great potential, but almost unplayable at release date.

I'll never financially recover from this week!

I love that this game actually ended up being good. Will pick this up as soon as I can (budget provides).

Didn't buy it just yet (because I first need to get another DualSense) but I sure will.

Great update.. in typical Sony fashion, a bit out of nowhere, but a lot of wanted fixes for me (cold storage for PS5 games being No. 1)

Not a great month for me.. Borderlands 3 I already own (and at least on PS5 it's a great game), Marvel Avengers looks to be pretty bad and beyond fixing at this point.. The long dark might actually end up being the only thing of interest for me 😕

Man, Cyberpunk is currently on serious sale in my country (25$), and it's still not leaving shelves.. This IP is damaged beyond repair, they should just go silent for a year and reboot as a company.

Hopefully it is not... I already have this game on PC and PS5, and it plays great on both (probably only strategy game "I get" on PS5). But I just don't want another duplicate!!

Lovely how companies like Activision came out saying it's hard to make a PS5 port.. and then less successful games start doing it left and right.
Hopefully this bad PR gets turned at them instead of Sony in the future.

The only real problem with this is that you have to have both versions still installed, which is a bit of a storage problem. Or network traffic problem if you accidentally delete PS4 version before save upload.
But it is not as bad as people are making it out to be (nor would I choose a console over this, and not over quality of games).

Interesting. I had no problems downloading PS5 version (wasn't even hard to find anymore, it was the default). But honestly, it's the game that didn't really need the upgrade (I can barely notice the difference when I'm trying).

I'm interested in what would a challenge be in creating a separate PS5 build? Distribution problems? New publishing contracts? Re-certification? This seems like it could be digital only release..
Because it can't be the issue of literally recompiling the game with a different, compatible, SDK.

Gave this a try, but it was pretty disappointing. Cutscenes and dialog are too cliche, level design is basically a straight invisible wall narrow tunel (which does seem like a PS3 thing as everybody is saying), graphics and performance definitely not what I would expect from PS5.
It's gonna be rough being part of this dev team come April..

It's a shame Ace Combat is staying on service for such a short time, but still.. I'll gladly try it out. Rest is pretty good

Hopefully they turn Destruction AllStars into sort of a service with constant updates, because initial gameplay is great. If they add content in time, longitivity could be extended and this could become next generations Rocket League.

They need to merge PS Now and PS Plus, and stop doubling on same games.. Every time for the last few months I already have half of these games in my collection 😕

This is a best month in a long while. Concrete Genie I've already played through, but I would recommend it as a laid back experience for anybody not owning it. Control on PS5 with DLC is a big win for me (because I stoped playing and sold disc version on PS4 due to how poorly it ran).
And Destruction AllStars is exactly a type of game I hope to catch on and become new Rocket League (tons of fun).
