cool. exactly what they said they were gonna do. expectations set - expectations achieved.
FIST and Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba look decent enough.
yay video games!
Moss book 2, Hunters Arena, Arcadeggedon, FIST and Sifu are what interested me.
Sifu being delayed to next year absolutely sucked.
I may buy the Arcadeggedon due to I have the cash and there’s not much else out there I haven’t played that I’m interested in.
Garbage showcase. Love that Xbox knocks it out the park with E3 and we get this. The Nacon show was better than this.
Really wish I had PSVR to play Moss, have heard great things. Sifu and $10 Death Stranding upgrade to next gen was the highlight of the show for me as I just got the game for PS4!
@Ken_Kaniff Umm... remind me, what did microsoft knocked off the park at E3?
I vividly remember people saying Nintendo saved E3.
Frankly, I can’t care unless they intend to finally let me buy a PS5 after countless failed attempts at various online retailers (including at least five failed attempts to purchase from Sony Direct). Looks like their answer to their ongoing supply debacle is to shrug, to which I can only shrug in return.
@figboot same here I'm giving in one more go then giving up until 2022.
Not the most exciting State of Play, but I'm just glad that Moss 2 is happening.
@figboot Outside of actually holding a PS5 back for you, I honestly don't know what they can do. I used a few stock alert Twitter accounts and I was able to get one inside two months but it still relies on being quick and a bit lucky.
Only real disappointment was no Little Devil Inside but alas. The DS upgrade at least avoids another week "bad PR".
Lost Judgment was perhaps the biggest surprise appearance at this State of Play and it looked great.
@Nem It was a helleva alot better than this garbage. We got to see yet another update on Deathloop. A title that we've seen more than enough of, and a bunch of indie stuff. Not even the indie games that people wanted an update for like Little Devil Inside or Stray. Complete trash and the worst stream of E3 so far.
sony being anti consumer again
Still not sold on Deathloop, honestly, though I remain cautiously curious. Would’ve preferred to see an update on Ghostwire, but If Sony’s got more events like this lined up in the summer to fill out the line-up, that’s ok. The event didn’t do much for me, outside of one simple announcement: I literally cannot wait to see more of my favorite game of all time—Death Stranding.
It basically has to be "Future of Play" levels showcase or forums will say it sucked. but it was a solid show for just some upcoming games that look interesting. Death Loop actually didn't feel weird at all, it's a very unique shooter and perfectly good marketing fit for what Sony like to do. FIST, SIFU, and the VR game all looked great, but I'm waiting on PSVR2 honestly.
The big World Wide Studio showcase is coming though guys...be patient lol
@Mad001 how, exactly, are they being anti consumer?
Nothing here that interests me at all. I like Death Stranding but it's not worth paying €10 for an upgrade that offers nothing I haven't already seen.
BLEEEEEP absolute BLEEEEEEPP
@Ken_Kaniff Xbox is the worst Platform ever made. Next to no reason to own it now when you can just play the games on PC. Still no sign of any worthwhile exclusives either. Microsoft are going to have to seriously up their game besides acquiring Bethesda IMHO.
@RubyCarbuncle I was about to comment the exact same thing. I dont even think Bethesda can help them, their entire brand hasnt really released anything worth while in a long time.
Pretty decent presentation despite the lack of heavy AAA games. It is just as what they want you to expect. My favorites are definitely Death Stranding Director's Cut, Sifu, Demon Slayer, Lost Judgement and that F.I.S.T game also looks great
@RubyCarbuncle You can also play most all of Sonys catalog on PC and they just bought a developer (Nixxes) that are known for porting games to PC. So Sony will be ramping up there PC ports in the near future. Your not going to to be singing this same tune in 3 to 5 years. Lol
The deathloop trailer convinced me to wait if anything. Looking forward to judgment and DS though.
Still not one single reason to pick up a PS5 even if I could find one. I’ve loved Sony since 1996. And I’m now going to be getting an Xbox Series X this gen as my primary system. Someday down the line I might pick up a PS5 for exclusives at the end of its life. I Still love you Sony. But I’ll see ya in a few years. Now back to Forza Horizon 4.
@Nem both Nintendo and Xbox had a very good showcase.
https://www.ign.com/articles/xbox-won-e3-according-to-new-poll
Xbox mainly tried to sell gamepass. And if you see what’s all being released on gamepass for no additional costs in the upcoming months, plus the confirmation that bethesda games will be day one gamepass exclusives too, their showcase was absolutely what Xbox needed
@RubyCarbuncle the platform is bad because games are also being released on pc?
Moss Book 2 peaked my interest. Loved Death Stranding and looking forward to the directors cut. The State of Play was fine, they did what they said they would and I just hope there's another one sooner rather than later.
Honestly, this state of play didnt do anything for me. Im glad that there are some who enjoyed it but the games shown just dont do it for me.
Also that 10 $ Death Stranding upgrade, in a time where Smart Delivery exists just feels out of place. Sony needs to step up their game on that front.
Ah, I miss those good old days when games quality was measured by the fun factor, not by hectolitres of blood, loot boxes and tons of used ammo :/ Wish they would bring back the glory of Ape Escape, Jak & Daxter, Kula World, Twisted Metal, Syphon Filter and the likes of those...
They should of done this Death Loop video sooner it makes more sense to me now. The previous marketing was a bit poor/unclear.
Kinda reminds me of Dishonored 2 with the teleport/assassinations but with added time loop gimmick.
Only SIFU really gets my attention. I also like how they announced the delay haha. No fuss
Edit
Yes it was exactly what they said it would be.
The unecessary drama and hardly veiled console war bickering is just ridiculous.
I have been waiting for F.I.S.T for an eternity. Finally a release date.
I have been excited for Deathloop since knowing it's a Arkane Games game. The Dishonored series is my absolute favorite FP franchise. They won't disappoint.
Lost Judgment looks like Judgement but with much more new mechanics and stories. Day One
Sifu being delayed breaks my heart tbh. But hey there's enough for me this year. I can wait.
Sony delivered what they promised.
Good job Sony.
Sifu delay sucks but got to see Jett so all is well.
Demon Slayer and Tribes of Midgard have my attention now.
£450 for a series x or £2000 for a pc to play at the same framerate and fidelity. I know which I would pick. So the PC argument is a bit lame. Both systems will have amazing games.
Glad I didn't waste my time by watching that then.
@DeepSpace5D agreed. I never really gave the first one a look but after seeing that I think I'll be buying Judgement and giving it a go before Lost Judgement comes out.
Well, finally got myself a PS5 reserved at Argos but that State of Play doesn’t make me want to rush down there and pick it up 😀 Much more I’m looking forward to on Series X and Switch later this year. Thankfully there’s enough already out to justify it. Jett looked interesting.
@Ken_Kaniff Where's Ratchet and Clank on PC? God of War? Sly Cooper? Jak and Daxter? hmm? where? oh right they're not there. Meanwhile with Xbox you have literally everything on PC on Windows 10.
I own all Xbox systems and Xbox was good when it launched and then again with the 360. Xbox One meh Xbox Series X? Idk I have nothing to play on it now.
Sure I'll be singing the same tune in 3-5 years. Btw it's you're not your and their not there. Not having a go but it just irks me a little bit when I see so many people get that wrong.
@AgentGuapo
xbox smart delivery , if i pop my xbox one game in il get the series x version.richie went over this review tech usa him and his silky voice 😂. ( sony pro consumer? noooooooo ) he cracks me up 😂
have a good one
back to mass effect! playing through the legendary edition. what game are you playing through?
@Friendly No because there still isn't any worthwhile exclusives on it. Microsoft are known to blabber on, to promise this to promise that. It's easy to make promises but delivering on those promises is another thing.
Personally, I liked this showcase. They set the expectations right (indie, smaller games + Deathloop) and then proceeded with the show having some actual GAMEPLAY. I tend to love those because prerendered cinematics doesn't prove to be great indicators of game appeal.
@JapaneseSonic not really. They only showed a handful of projects. They have 23 studios. Most with unannounced projects. They do have their own show. I think the last one was in 2019, before the pandemic. Really though they still have a bunch to show.
@RubyCarbuncle they mentioned they’re aiming to drop a new game every 3 month quarter. Giving each dev nearly 6 years to develop it.
Also you can’t knock Xbox lacking exclusives because their on PC. If you do, that would make all PS games timed exclusive.
Probably why they distanced themselves from E3. They didn't have much to show, and what they did have, is now owned by Microsoft.
@Arcnail Sony has over 25 games in development right now they have stuff to show when they ready to show it. Sony already said this wasn’t gonna be a big show you Xbox fanboys just can’t read.
Didn't know about FIST or JETT until now and with Moss being my favorite VR game, this was pretty good imo.
@11001100110zero I game on Xbox so I don't dislike it by any means but atm I'm just starting to wonder when I'm going to start seeing some good games for it. We'll see how it goes I guess
Was interested in Lost Judgement from the showcase.
For the record I have zero interest in Game Pass (or PS NOW) and will never get either service. I have enough of a backlog with my paid and PS Plus games.
Still wondering when Sony will let me buy a PS5
@RubyCarbuncle well. There’s flight simulator now. Scorn next month. Forza 5 in three months. Halo infinite somewhere in the upcoming months.
And the promise of one very big exclusive every quarter after 2021.
Dunno, but that’s almost as many as playstation 5 exclusives in a year. With ratchet and Clank being my only ps5 exclusive buy so far.
https://culturedvultures.com/biggest-xbox-exclusives-games-2021/
@JapaneseSonic
Xbox has no games that are exclusive to their console. The Game Pass is trash most games on there are old and I can get for a dollar on ebay. The new games like MLB The Show are timed game pass games, so when its the playoffs, its not gonna be on gamepass and now you gotta buy a Sony Studio Title, 4D chess boys. PS Now is way better than Game Pass could ever be. God of War, Spiderman, Demon Souls, Final Fantasy VII remake, The Last of Us, will all stay exclusive to Playstation. That is more then enough for the win. Playstation makes games, Xbox sells subscriptions. The only game xbox ever had was Mass Effect and thats a Bioware game and was always on pc. Xbox bowed out during the 360, face it kids.
@Friendly Ah... so it was good if you cared about a rental service. I see.
No, that wasn't exciting at all. I want to see the games.
@Ken_Kaniff Really? Cause i can't recall a single interesting game from the Xbox conference. At least i saw an interesting directors cut of death stranding here.
I think both were pretty bad. But, i can still recall more from this than MS E3 conference. Gamepass snoozefest, promises, bla bla.
I guess some are that easy to convince. :x
@Abrothers587 Two things. First if Xbox has “no exclusives” because they all come to PC… doesn’t that make all PS Exclusives “Timed Exclusives”? Really… even if it’s a couple of yours, that’s still a countdown. That means their all Timed.
Second, with PSNow having 800+ games, and most of those being old, then PSNOW would actually have a larger ratio old “old ass” games “no one likes”.
Bonus. If PSNOW is a killer, why has it taken it 6 years, and having its price cut in HALF just for it to finally come close to 4 million subs. When Gamepass is resting at over 23 million in less than four years.
You can prefer one to the other, but no dude Gamepass really is a better deal.
@Nem to each their own. But they showed a lot of games. Also exclusives.
But feel free to like whatever you like of course.
The PS4 has sold 114.93 million units in its lifetime, the Switch 78.63 million units, and the Xbox One 49.63 million. The Xbox can't keep up with Nintendo and the Xbox One was relesed years before the switch. Let me know when Xbox passes Nintendo, 20 million subscribers aint *****, sony sold 115 million playstations, more people are playing playstion son, over half have PS Plus. Also please read Spiderman, God of War, The Last of Us, and Final Fantsy VII remake will never release on anything other than Playstation, they are not timed Xbox will never know God of War. If I want to play Gears or Halo well its on steam. Xbox gave up when Nintendo passed by there ***** box in sales.
