Sony’s dropped a surprise PS Store sale for some of the PlayStation 5’s biggest games, including Returnal, Demon’s Souls, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Scheduled to run until 28th June, the promotion sees Housemarque’s roguelite reduced to £52.49/$49.69, which represents a 25 per cent saving. FromSoftware’s cult action RPG is also temporarily £52.49/$49.69.
Meanwhile, you can grab the standard version of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for as little as £33.49/$29.99, while Sackboy: A Big Adventure is £42.59/$40.19. Elsewhere, the Nioh Collection is available for £52.49/$49.69, and if you missed out on Destruction AllStars Digital Deluxe Edition when it was on PS Plus, you can get that for £26.24/$29.99.
It took a little while for Sony to adjust the price on PS5’s biggest games, but we’re beginning to see some movement at last. Will you be grabbing any of these over the weekend?

Been waiting for a decent sackboy sale…. Not sure if I’ll be cheap and wait for better
Returnal is tempting, but still no save feature.
I'm fuming. I bought Returnal at full price yesterday!
@LiamCroft Don't give me your lottery numbers prediction, mate.
Ahh that's too bad I bought these at full Price too.
It's about time... I've got Returnal downloading and i'm super excited. I'm not going to start nodding and crying though lol
Returnal is definitely worth $50!
I got Returnal at 59 quid - worth every penny.
@Mega-Gazz I am not going to subject myself to Returnal's torture until it lands on plus. 😅
I will keep on waiting for lower price points.
Buying a game from psn USA acc for 44 euros or spend 58 euros buying it on UK acc? It just justifies owning more than one psn account with this unfairness in the market.
Good prices. I thought those big hitters would have been better priced during the days of play sale so strange that they should just drop this one on there now.
got myself Sackboy for £36 in this sale with cheap store credit. That's more like it.
Returnal going on sale so soon...predictions of half price by autumn look spot-on.
Returnal at Sub £50 (if you include discounted store credit) is a much better feeling, and its downloading as I type... wubbly jubbly!
@LiamCroft - Contact support, they will refund the difference if you buy something that goes on sale within a day or so of your purchase. I've been refunded on two occasions when that has happened to me.
Sackboy is very tempting at that price! I'm still half tempted to pick up Ratchet & Clank instead though, even though it's not on sale!
I know it goes without saying, but I really recommend Miles Morales. Got it from CEX at the weekend for £28, and will likely finish it this weekend and return it to get £17 back. £9 to finish the game is a bargain in my book. Even better than the original.
£33.49 in this sale is obviously not as good as £9, but if this is your only choice as you have a digital only PS5, then it’s still well worth it!
I'm with @Mega-Gazz, it's good to see sales on these, but I'm going to hold my nerve just a little longer. Still got a few games on my backlog so I'm going to hold they're even cheaper by the time I get round to them.
I appreciate that's a bit of a privilege though, I didn't own the PS4 so for the most part myv launch day PS5 is treated as a PS4 Pro Plus that I get the occasional free upgrade on, and which I shouldn't need to replace for a good few years.
I almost jumped on Spider-man MM ultimate edition. Purely because it would give me MM now, and the PS5 versions of Spider-man and MM later on.
But I've decided to hold on a little longer. I'm currently trying to finish up all Bethesda games that are on PS. Close out that era.
Sackboy and Miles Morales are both great pickups.
I might have to give in and get Returnal now..
@LiamCroft can’t return it?
@Tharsman @Shigurui I've contacted PlayStation support and they've already refused the refund.
@thefourfoldroot I have a disc PS5 because it was the only model available when I purchased the console but haven't used discs for many a year for, well, anything!
the disc drive on mine will be about as much use as the proverbial chocolate teapot!
Tempted by Returnal at that price, but did they ever sort out a decent save system or is that still up in the air?
I don't have the time for 2-3 hour runs, so that, and the £70 price, is what put me off the game originally.
@LiamCroft ugh, PS refund policy needs work…
Steam/Xbox policy has spoiled me, thought PS was the same already (couple of weeks or 3[?] hours of play, whatever comes first, being when you need human exceptions.)
@blinx01 This is also my stance, I am really looking forward to playing it but until we can save and come back later (maybe even just after each biome) I just can't drop money on it. I would have happily dropped the full £70 on it too if you could save from day one but I suppose that is my loss more than theirs at this point!
@mcdreamer
Ratchet and clank all day long mate.
You won’t regret it
@Jessica2K
Well, ok, sure…I mean the only thing the disc drive is truly good for is saving people lots of money. I fully understand not everyone cares about that though. The actual media access method is definitely inferior to digital in most cases (although not all).
I'm tempted to get Returnal but what's this issue regarding a save system?
Do you have to dedicate a couple of hours each time to play as you can't save mid run (right terminology?)
I don't have the time I use to have so sitting down to play for a couple of hours without a save will be pretty pointless.
With my backlog so massive and PS Now, PS+, and Humble Choice ensuring every game I complete is replaced with a dozen more, I'm never in a hurry to buy a new game. I'll pick up these games when they are 50% off or more. It's my way of being more economical, but the TotalBiscuit quote below also really resonates with me.
"If you buy a game at launch, you are paying the most amount of money for the worst version of a game." -TotalBiscuit
I'm going against type here because I am so not into roguelikes(lites) but Returnal is worth the full price, and this is absolutely a great deal for what you are getting!
Via my American account, picked up Miles Morales and Spiderman remastered for 37 quid roughly, just got the credit on PCGameSupply..
Relatively happy with that with my digital PS5
@thefourfoldroot the worst part about miles morales was how short it actually is. Main story can be done in less than 7 hours and collectibles and other side quests will make it to around 14hrs.
Here's to hoping the sales help Returnal ! Amazing game !
Hmm, maybe I'll sells my miles morales disc and buy the digital version.
@Bamila yes the Spiderman remastered/Morales package better value for sure.
@LiamCroft let me get this straight, you passed on returnal for $50 on prime day, bought it at full price a couple of days later, only for it to go on sale again? Bad luck, bad timing.
@PhhhCough I only buy games digitally nowadays, so I would never have bought the physical copy. I also don't have Amazon Prime!
@LiamCroft shhhhh saying digital only will start a firestorm and a lot if infighting. Ahh, need not say more.
Thought playstation's return policy was changed after cyberpunk 2077, guess there are little nuances here and there, still
That's a excellent price for Returnal and I will certainly buy it now, Sackboy and Demon's souls at that price are also a steal.
@LiamCroft Same-sh, bought Nioh 2 Remastered last night, absolutely livid.
@dellyrascal
How does that work? Getting tired of Sony ripping us off in the UK.
Do you just set up a US account somehow, buy the game on that, and you can play it from your UK account?
@blinx01 Yeah pretty much spot on..
The US account has to be primary on the machine you use and voila, you can use the game with your main account.
Have saved a fair bit over the last few years on PS4, so very handy.
Cant use card payments as have to be a resident, but you can buy US PSN cards on various UK sites
@God_of_War_ Its a time sink.. die and you have to rebuild from the start of your run, weapons, leeches etc.. it's not the difficulty I dislike, just the tedious rebuilds.
Kinda want to play Miles Morales first since it seems like a good built for PS5 tech demo. Has anyone done this?
I played Spider-Man on PS4 for a bit but never got back to it. Thought it was great but got distracted with other games. Now with a PS5 I want to play the best of the two. Which?
Nice, a bit of patience always pays off in the end.
Been waiting for a price drop before hitting the purchase button on Returnal. Downloading just now!
Seems like Sony are creating a lot of bad vibes with their pricing this generation. I know they want more for each game, but the last thing you want when people buy your products is to feel like they've been done and constantly have how much they've spent at the back of their minds whilst using it.
I did enjoy Ratchet and Clank, but I spent the whole time playing it thinking "I've paid too much for this game." and that cost me £55 with some store credit applied. Even as someone who can afford games at these prices, I'm a little embarrassed about how much I've spent on some of them and would actually keep it a secret from a lot of people I know cause they would be shocked if I told them.
@Jessica2K you and me both. Only disk thats been in it was a 4k bluray to see what playback was like. Other than that, its in danger of seizing through non use before the end of the gen!
@Old-Red
The solution is simple.
Vote with your wallet. Don't buy games brand new and if enough do that, Sony will get the picture and adjust. But we know that won't happen.
Companies only listen to dollars. Ratchet and Clank is selling well at $70 and its all the more justification for Sony to keep the $70 the new standard
@Old-Red well I guess we all set our own bar. Personally I bought R&C full price and I believe I got my full monies worth.
As for what other people think I fail to see why anyone would care? My purchase decisions are mine and if someone were judging me for it then I wouldnt even want to know them.
@Titntin I love your comment! It's quite unique to gaming this attitude...I mean, I wouldn't start grilling my friends over how much they paid for their clothes or phone and whether they paid too much or whether they should have bought online or in a shop haha
I always buy digital games because I love the convenience, and I wouldn't dream of going on an article about a game sale on amazon or ebay and telling disc buyers they're doing it wrong!
It's funny, really
@Titntin it's not so much that I care what others think, it's more that if it was to come up in conversation I would feel embarrassed to say that I'd spent this much money on a game. It makes me realise I've passed a point of what I think I should spend on a piece of entertainment.
Even my best mate who works as a designer at a fairly big studio is like "How much!" When I told him how much I paid for a Ratchet and Clank game and he works in the industry.
Fair enough mate, if it matters to you, it matters.
I worked for 20 years making AAA games myself, but i dont think it gives me any particular insight into what a game should cost now, apart from the fact I still get all the retail trade and dev mags for free xD
@TheDudeElDuderino seriously man, it's not that bad. Worth full price if you ask me. Bought day 1
@Bamila it's not even that short. I went in listening to people like you and was surprised it was as long as it was.
Main story for me was 12-16 hours. and collectibles and side quests was 20-25hrs.
@middyone you might be really taking your time then. I wonder how long it would take you to beat 90-100 hr game like red dead redemption 2 ? ;P
https://howlongtobeat.com/game?id=79859
Says you can speedrun it in a little bit more than 4 hours.
@get2sammyb The PS4 versions are also on-sale. You know the version that matters to the 95 million PS4 owners who still can't find a PS5? 😜
@Bamila same site says the first spiderman game to speedrun would be 6h 23m 13s.
https://howlongtobeat.com/game?id=44852
as you can see, it may be possible this website isn't very accurate.
I did take my time because I wanted to savor the experience and I had an absolute blast. I don't play 70 hr games like red dead. I feel a game can get dragged out too long if it's that long and I think 20-25 hr games 30 at the most is a great length.
Makes it easier to consider playing again. I also don't mind shorter games like miles.
Tempting deals but sadly broke and can't spend more money.
Hopefully I'll be in a much better financial situation by Black Friday or December.
