As Sony is wont to do, it's just dropped a big announcement out of thin air. A PlayStation Showcase has just been confirmed, offering a "look into the future of PS5".

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sid Shuman gives a vague idea of what to expect, saying the showcase will "include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond". Interestingly, viewers should also "stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase".

It's scheduled for Thursday 9th September at 1pm PT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST, and will run for approximately 40 minutes. It seems like this is the big Sony presentation we've been waiting for all summer — here's hoping we're in for a good show. One thing we know won't be included is Sony's next-generation PSVR.
