In all honesty, Sony is handling this situation the way it should. Take control, clean up management, reassess, recover in time. It s*cks for employees let go, but at least there is a chance studio survives.

Version of this question has been asked multiple times since PS Plus re-imagining, and every time I have voted against adding first party games day one.
Decent permanent discounts however, would be a great addition.

I can already see myself crying once I'm done with this game. That is what getting old feels like, you already mourn the good times before they even happen.

@get2sammyb bit of a late reply on my end, I'm Croatian. I'm sure they will update local shops soon, I just don't want to preorder before it's "clear".
Unfortunately, had previous experience where "fine print" was read and side-by-side offer listing was examined for some extra content, so I'm just going "better safe then sorry" route these days.
Edit: One of the popular shops actually updated their page to include preorder bonus today, so that settles that

@get2sammyb absolutely, can't wait for these to release. I'll be getting both day 1. Unfortunately, it seems like in my country they have not yet listed pre-order bonuses for Astro, so I'll be waiting on some transparency on that.
Lego Horizon looks stunning, I knew it was gonna be a good fit, but not this much.

I have the upmost respect for this man, and can only hope he will one day make a channel to share his views/knowledge. I'm not sure it has been confirmed, but I believe his are the best hands PS6 can be in.

Don't get me wrong, lovely to hear, just legitimizing it is sort of a big deal..

I don't believe this gets saved by a $40 price.. It really depends on what gets released, but trailer/presentation looked subpar and in comparison to Helldivers 2 of all things it looks significantly less fun. Admittedly, Helldivers also looked "meh" in trailers, however delivered big time on release.

It's really simple Sony, nobody needs Yet Another 5vs5 Shooter. Why can't they just drop this nonsense and go back to making games I genuinely enjoyed and paid for?

@PuppetMaster might be selfish, but I don't want Team Asobi to touch anything else except Astro. They need to ride this success and make Astro Sony's Mario, instantly recognizable.

However, Sony should look at this and give other first party studios "a licence to kill by fun".

As an occasional PC player, all I can say is this is just a bunch of bo**ocks by frustrated people needing excuse to rage and youtubers making up a story to spike their channel viewership. There is no problem!

You missed Ballad of Antara and Where winds meet, which both happen to look decent to me..

Astro was by far the best part of the show. It's not even a competition. This is Sony's Mario Odyssey (in the world of platformers, there is not much higher praise I can give it).

Yeah, seems like I'll have to let my sub expire in September to resub during Black Friday.. because Sony is a bunch of loonies?
I have enough owned backlog games to be able to hold for couple of months but making users lapse and wait for next sale oppo is lunacy, not to mention losing money.

If this gets to be similar to Astro's Playroom, buying it day one. That game was very underappreciated.

Honestly, not sure why they bothered.. most of the people who wanted GTA5 already owned it. Seems like a last ditch effort on Rockstar end to try to upsell Online to few other folks before GTA6.
Out of the list, The Talos Principle is the only one I would care to finish before removal, if you have not done so yet.

Honestly, I don't understand the "generation never started" arguments.. over the last generation graphics have evolved far enough that further x2 jumps will never feel as groundbreaking as during PS1/2 era. If anything PC owners should be very familiar with this (basically last 4 years of GPUs are iterative and in total don't represent a shocking visual bump unless you are on DF team).
It might be time to stop thinking about traditional generations and start thinking about continuous experience provided by ongoing ecosystem.
And Sony probably doesn't mind as those 50% still using PS4 are:

• still spending money on Sony games
• still paying for PS Plus to play their live service game of choice
• will eventually upgrade to PS5 Pro as they are not leaving their library behind

EDIT: I understand my first line might read a bit wrong. Comment is targeted at people who dispute reasoning to upgrade "as generation has never started" when in fact it has, I just think future generations will be shorter, less groundbreaking, and not mandatory upgrades. Waiting on a world-shattering release event that is not going to happen as the nature of the generation is changing.

Was always gonna be the case. Not sure what people expected, there is no way they could have been financially stable and release all Activision titles into GP day 1.

Not saying I told you so, but I told you so. MS is a cut throat company built on shady tactics and suspect competition elimination. It was only matter of time before they gut my favorite hobby, which they arguably already did as I blame aggressive early GP pricing pressure for the current state of console gaming. Nintendo is the only company immune for now (because they found their own unique approach and market).

Good game, glad it's moving to other platforms. Personally, I believe it would do wonderfully on Nintendo systems.

Would make much more sense for me if it was a cross-licence solution, even if just for first party studios. GoT sounds great on PC, but I ain't paying full price again for a game I beat multiple times..

Hmmm, I jumped in trying to get UFC 5 Deluxe, but it seems to be priced at £59.99. Not sure what's going on, but if they changed it after launching sale with £19.99... man, that s*cks.

I would expect many more devs going for the $40 price after Helldivers 2 success. So much so, actually, that I'm slightly afraid that sweet spot between indie and AAAA is going to get over-saturated. It was typically reserved for fun but not great gems, as if devs knew their gameplay is fire but they don't have production values to warrant $70 pricing. I don't want that to disappear

@Shrek_Realista by understanding that to maintain diverse portfolio you have to have a healthy business that can afford taking risks/eating up unforseen loses.
If having 80% of new releases be GaaS (which I don't care about at all) means other 20% be stuff like GoW, Horizon, GT7, upcoming Stellar Blade, etc.. I'm OK with that.
Better than having zero games of that level, which as a disappointed Series owner I can attest to.

Awesome, second game I was looking into buying going day 1 to the service.
Sony throwing some serious punches, probably looking to aggressively grow sub numbers (this can not be either normal or viable long-term).

Demo for this game was great. I just recently returned to Sea of Stars to finish it, and it seems like I'll stay in retro land for a little while more. Good job Sony

@Shrek_Realista you do understand that Playstation is selling out competition more than 2:1 during the generation that was designed and developed solely during his tenure.
Everything can be considered a failure if you squint hard enough, but calling Jim a failure takes real effort

This game is one of the biggest PS5 wins that somehow usually doesn't get mentioned when going over best games on the platform.
I'm consistently hooked into weekly challenges and have been returning to it for years.

Hoped Immortals would be added to the service, so that is good enough for me. No care for the other two though.

Came here to complain.. sort of lost steam after I've seen and thought about the list. Never actually considered playing any of these games...

@get2sammyb I would agree 100%. Way I see it, Sony is using this opportunity to test PSSR technology in the wild, get devs to use it in practice. All for eventual mature implementation in PS6.
And there are many enthusiasts that will be onboard with that (assuming decent pricing, probably myself included).

Best Xbox game this gen. By that I mean a decent 9/10 fun experience that does not take itself too seriously. Definitely enjoyed it while it lasted.
But yeah, not a GOTY material (not every game has to be though).

Whole Episode Aigis saga is laughable.. it's like they are trying to provoke anger from every single one of their ex-fans. You have to admire the calamity..

@PaperAlien agreed, that is the price I was waiting for (always count on Ubisoft overcharging on launch, get disappointed by initial sales and drop the price in a few months to acceptable levels).

Lovely, how devs came out and said this expansion is basically essential content and was not in final release due to time constraints.. but still go ahead and charge extra $30 for it 😁
You know, post launch patches with free expansions are not unheard of.. if time was the only reason (not trying to sell a game for $100).

Sounding like a broken record, but I love how these games start life as 9/10 on Xbox and mature to 7/10 on PS5..
For me it was always 7/10 and I'm glad I ain't the only one it was boring and awkward looking to.

Yeah, watched this yesterday, and the more I think about it, the more it looks like a massive win for Sony. I was so surprised I couldn't believe it was that better and was grasping at straws to give xCloud some pros.. but yeah, flawless victory it seems.

I'll be switching between Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Gran Turismo 7, and going back to Xenoblade Chronicles 3. All 3 amazing games in their own right 👍

Can't wait for this to hit $30 on second hand market. Literally can't wait, as I have to talk myself out of buying it almost daily.

Good game, among the best available on Xbox. It'll be interesting to see how it performs on PS5 as I feel like competition is much stronger (wouldn't be surprised if PS5 reviews gravitate toward 7-8/10 instead of 9-10/10).

@DarkTron man, whole industry is locking suits behind paywalls permanently, without giving to charity. It's basis of every live service game out there. At least this attempt has a noble cause embedded somewhere in there..

Some very good games there, a bit disappointing even as they have been around for a while.
6/7 are still worth trying out (Ghostwire: Tokyo would be forgotten in days after release if not made by Tango Gameworks).
