Being the most powerful console each generation is a marketing strategy that hasn't really been relevant since the PS1/Saturn/N64 era. Every generation Microsoft makes the most powerful console and every generation the Xbox sells even less
Hopefully the install becomes optional, I have zero interest in this. It's obviously something that felt couldn't stand on its own two feet and have bolted it onto to Genshin in the hopes there's some crossover.
Neither Skate or Dead Space really have the brand appeal to be charging those kind of prices. But if you are buying EA games you deserve to get fleeced.
Maybe I'm being cynical but without an obvious way to crowbar live service MP into the franchise Rockstar is simple not interested in a sequel or remaster
@tselliot to be fair to Genshin the story is mostly well written and is like TV seasons, each has it's own arc while also having the overarching plot slowly ticking along. Nod Krai is the beginning of the end, the plot is now drawing together and heading towards the finale.
@UltimateOtaku91 it's a well polished Metroidvania and it launched when steam wasn't absolutely flooded with them. Crucially, it's difficult so the toxic "git gud" crowd latched onto it and worked themselves into a froth over it.
The same guy who bragged about making 220 people redundant and then spent $2.4m on classic cars. Good riddance. They should have fired him and not given him the grace of making it seem like he left of his own volition.
The problem is that Path of Exile 2 exists and simply does everything, outside of telling a story, better. D4 pretty much shows you everything it has to offer in the opening hours, it then holds your hand through the rest of the game as you fight level scaled trash mobs and samey boss battles until the finale. Enemies explode in showers of near useless loot, character builds are streamlined to near linear and the end game loot is gimped by the need to keep powercreep as minimal as possible so they can drag it out as a GaS for years. PoE2 goes the other route, it's not beginner friendly but it lets you experiment with insane builds, loot is actually meaningful and combat is challenging.
While the gameplay issues, ropey animations and potato faced NPCs could be fixed the larger issues are baked into the core of the game. Too much of the game is just boring, the plot is thin and poorly written, the procedurally generated content is busy work and fast travel absolutely robs the game of a sense of exploration, arguably Bethesda's biggest USP.
FFXVI fell in its butt, no reason to think Helldivers won't as well. Even Sony's big hitters would shift as many copies as you'd think, most simply won't step outside of Gamepass anymore.
1 million is chump change for a live service title, especially as that figure likely includes downloads and never played or tried it once and never again.
SGF always feels amateur, stilted dialogue, no concept of how to pace the show properly and awkward jokes or interviews. It's not as if they don't have the budget, developers have said that the cost of being included this year really high, especially when most of it ends up as another drop in the ocean.
This was predicted almost as soon as GP took off but the developers who were ringing the alarm bells were drowned out by those rolling in MS money posting about Gamepass like the second coming. The gravy train was never going to last, MS was never going to keep paying insane money to lure developers in. GP isn't growing either, it's reached it's natural saturation point but not hit the numbers needed to force Sony and Nintendo's hands. First party games launching on it aren't breaking even.
Unions are a good thing, unions that act like the mafia are not. SAG-AFTRA are very much the latter. They are bullies, you pay up or you don't work. They wouldn't even allow a member vote on ending the strike.
The agreement only extends to projects that were officially struck, companies like Genshin's HoYo, arguably the most affected, were never officially struck so any agreement doesn't extend to them.
@AverageGamer Not the case, the Playstation 4 version running on the PS5 was considered "best" console experience on launch. The X wasn't far behind, the S was nearly unplayable while the One which would have been the equivalent of the PS4 version was unplayable.
I played Cyberpunk on the PS5 1.1 and it was no worse than most open world games on launch. The PS4 was a different story, they should have never released it.
